Ema nodded in agreement. "Yeah, there's a lot they miss out on when they don't have family around. That's good that you feel bad for them...I mean, not good, but at least you don't hate them." Ema gave her a soft smile.

"No problem." she said, gazing over at the Slytherin table. "Yeah, I don't think they're anything to be afraid of. They're just like Hufflepuff, only green. And maybe a bit more...aggressive. Maybe. But yeah, like I said, one in every group." she smiled again. "Everyone gets sorted into their own house so you have to figure there's something in Slytherins that are different, otherwise they'd be Hufflepuffs."

Very nervous. Well that seemed about right. Jake already was, but he had his reasons for that. The boy looked at Ema with a kind of blank-ish look. He wasn't quiiiite sure how to express that he felt bad that Ema was nervous... Different ways of showing emotion went through his mind, but nothing seemed to work.

"Nnno," he replied. The OWLs definitely weren't that bad at all... not when you looked at it the way Jake did. "Nuhh-nowhere nnnear as buhh-bad as the NEWTs," Jake nodded firmly. That would make her feel better, right?

The boy chuckle!giggled at the next question. "I'm al-al-already tttterrified," he responded, smiling slightly. "Bbbut I ccccan't do muhh-magic tuhh-too well... an' I cccan barely rrrread."

But hopefully they'd fix that by the time HE had to do his OWLs. "Are ya ccconfident ab-about any?"

Scipia didn't even notice the girl sitting on the other side of Evelyn until she stood up from spilling her cup.
"Oh no.." muttered scurrying around to try to find a napkin or something to help. She looked over when she heard a faint ripping sound, hoping Evelyn had not ripped her robes in the process of cleaning up she looked over and saw another girl offering a bit of ripped robe to her...
"Oh hellu," Scipia said to her with a smile, "What an interesting way to meet."

Oliver's jabbing finger fell to his side and he gave Miranda a dirty look when she pretended to bite it. He wouldn't put it past the crazy rodent to really do that. But then, his mouth dropped open at her words! That was a LIIIIIE! Oh she was so not the nice girl he thought she was. “I think you'll find I said badgers were. As in the animal. Not your house. I suggest you clean the potato out of your ears and learn to listen properly.” Sheesus.

His expression darkened. THAT was not an apology. Not a real one. She had done far more than just poked him. Fine. In that case. “I'm sorry.....” You exist? Naw – TOO mean. He sighed. “I'm sorry.” He said. Full stop. End of. Least she'd gone first.

Oliver reluctantly agreed with Miranda over the mess. He would help clean it up... after he'd cleaned himself up cos the potato in his hair was beginning to harden and it was hella itchy. He scratched at his scalp and nodded, looking at the Prefect. “Yeah.. we'll clean it up.” He looked at the Rodent and sighed. He didn't really know any cleaning charms – you don't learn these things when you have house elves to clean up after your lazy self. He shook his head. “Never heard of a mop and bucket?” He raised an eyebrow and very annoyingly, began to smirk again.. like he had been before the fight broke out.

Oh great. She'd have to go through NEWTs after.

"Yeah...definitely aren't as bad as NEWTs. I'm really not looking forward to those." she gave him a grin. "Betcha I'll fail miserably." she joked. Okay, so she wasn't really joking. She probably would really fail miserably at the NEWTs. She wasn't sure about the OWLs.

Oh good, at least SOMETHING scared this kid. "You'll get better at reading," Ema nodded reassuringly. "I used to stink at reading and spelling...and although I'm no bookworm, I'm pretty good." she thought about reaching over and giving the boy and encouraging pat on the shoulder but imagined Charlie leaping out and biting her. Nahhhht goin thereee...

"You'll get better with magic too..." she said, trailing off. She had never really seen Jake perform any spells, except for maybe in Charms once. "Or not, I don't really know," she smirked, shrugging. "But you can't be all that terrible, you're a wizard."

Hmm...this was a toughie.

"I suppose I'm not so nervous about muggle studies...I'm from an all muggle family, so I should be alright in that area." she explained. "And History of Magic won't be too bad...I can't imagine Charms will be either. But everything else is kinda gonna stink." Three out of fifteen. Oh lovely.
"D'you think you'll ace any of them?"

"Betcha won't," the boy retorted, giving a cheeky smile. No way would that happen. Ema was a girl. All girls were dead smart... right? Either way, if anyone was going to fail miserably, Jake would know... he just knew when people were as bad at magic as he was. The boy ran his tongue around his mouth, the aftertaste of the pumpkin juice still lingering there. Bleh... he needed water.

Paying attention to Ema again (as was polite and... necessary in a conversation) Jake shrugged one shoulder. Yeah... he'd be able to read properly soon... sure. And he'd better... In fact, he'd devote all his energies to it. Yup.

HA. Not all that terrible with magic. PFFFT. Ema was, quite clearly, clueless. Giving a knowing smile, Jake shrugged that one shoulder again, before leaning an elbow on the table and propping his head up with it. Hmmm... good choices. But what was Jake good at?

Well... he'd ended the term with an O in... "Hhhistory of Muhh-magic? Though... nnnnot ace..." Jake made sure to make that clear. Hmmm... was there an OWL in flying? He didn't think so... "Mmmmaybe Cuhh-care of mmmagical ccreatures," the boy added, nodding to himself. Yeah... that sounded pretty good. "An' mmmaybe Mmmuggle St-studies..."

Yeah... seemed about right.

"I tthhhink if I fuhh-focus on ssstudying nuhh-now... I mmmight be pruh-prepared," Jake went on to explain, shrugging both shoulders this time. "Whhhat d'you wwwwanna bbbbe when you gr... erm... When you llleave Hogwarts?"

Nunually became ashamed. "I tried to hate them, but I couldn't I wanted to hate them so it wouldn't hurt." she said softly and shook her head her short hair covered her eyes. "I seriously wanted to hate them, and treat them like they treated me, yet I couldn't." she told Ema. "But no matter how any times I tried, I couldn't do it." she said

"Hello," Nunually said quickly changing her expression and turning to the girl who had spoken to her. "Yep, but its always a good thing to meet people." she said putting on a smile. "I am Nunually, but you can call me Nulu or Nana, some people have trouble pronouncing my name." she said smiling. "Are you wet I'm sorry I can tear off another piece of my shirt,it doesn't matter to me, its an old shirt and I have two besides I had to cut it earrlier since I had gotten hurt. She said smiling. "It is an interesting way thought." she said giggling.

She smiled at Emalyn, listening to her talking like she herself also did sometimes. Hehe. How long does it take to be an Auror? Eh. She had no idea actually. "Um...I don't really know." She made a face at this. She should know! "A few years... Yeah, I'm sure it's not going to be easy, but you gotta try, right?"

Oh, Miranda totally got what her friend was saying. It would be fun, but it wouldn't be fun because of the hurt patients. She nodded at Emalyn. "Oh yeah. She does. Hopefully she is as kind as she looks. Melita?" Miranda made another face. "I wonder what happened to her... Hopefully she's far FAR away from here...and children."

Summer! Oh yay! And oh a little blush. "My summer was great! I went to...the Quidditch World Cup! Did you go?? Oh it was AWESOME!" Miranda practically squealed at this.



A smirk curled on her lips at the way Oliver looked when she had pretended to want to bite his finger. Yeah, that ought to shut him up...again.
Whaaaaaaaat? "Hey dude, you ARE your house. You offend the House of Helga Hufflepuff and you offend me!" That was so true. Maybe Oliver hadn't had the chance to experience what house pride was like, but she hoped he would. Though...not if he would become all meanie like some previous Slytherin's. Clean the potatoes out of my ear?? "And I'm sure you remember, dear Ollie... I wasn't the one who got the Wet Willy." Smirk. And a sweet smile.

So she had apologized and now he had to do it too. Not that Miranda really thought it really came from the heart. And...not that she really cared. This boy was weird and she knew she should stay away from those. Miranda simply looked at the boy with pursed lips.

Oh so he was going to help? Well...Good!
"Yes I have heard of a mop and bucket. Have you?" Was this pureblood knowledgeable in the arts of Muggle cleaning? He had seemed som against it before, when they came into the topic of dancing and television. And his brother.

Uuuuuurgh! Miranda balled up her fist. The first thing she was going to do was to clean up that ANNOYING smirk he had on his face. She closed her eyes and took a breath, made a face at the bleh smell of the rotting food they had on themselves, and then grabbed her wand. She narrowed her eyes. "Why don't you clean with a mop and a bucket, and I can actually use magic to get everthing off. Okay?" She would atleast try to remember how the spell worked. This was as good a time to practice.

"All right, Nulu it is then. I'm Scipia." she replied back, "and i didn't get anything on me, but thank you though." She looked at the girl and smiled. Yay, another person! she silently cheered.
"Did you say you got hurt?" She suddenly interpreted the rest of the comment, "are you OK?"

Alaska walked over to the Hufflepuff house table. She found one of the empty seats and sat down. Wow, she really needed to get out of this shy phase. She normally wans't a shy person, but apparently this whole new school thing was affecting her.

SHe looked around to see if she knew anyone. Of course though she didn't. She hated how she was a third year but felt like a first all because of a new school.

She looked around the room again and didn't see him. She knew that his home life as just as bad as hers. "Well I hope he is ok. But he's not talking to me any more so. If you see him will you make sure he's alright." kay asked Kita.

Kay looked up and saw Kylie. Would she talk to Kay? They didn't really talk to the end of term. Kylie was with the Syltherins and Kay had went out of her way to talk to her. Kay hoped that she was alright.

Oh for the love of... Oliver rolled his eyes. The usually cocky smile he had on his face had been well and truly wiped off! She was like a muggle fishwife nagging nagging nagging aaaand nagging! “Are you thick as well as mental?” He asked finally really losing his rag completely. He was not pleased. It took a lot to penetrate the barrier he put up. “I DIDN'T offend the 'House of Hufflepuff'”. Air-quotes. “You just put two and two together and came up with minus THREE BLOODY MILLION!”

Breathe. Breathe, Oliver. Keep it cool. You ARE cool, man. Yeah.

He made a face and looked away from her. Wet Willy.. is that what you called that.. grossness? He folded his arms and looked at the prefect. Was she really going to just stand there and let this girl continue with her tirade of LIES!?

Tempted to draw his wand and turn Miranda into a pile of mushy peas, he resisted the temptation and managed to calm himself down before he did something really silly. Acting without thinking was what had got him to Hogwarts in the first place.

So.. with frontage back in place, he felt a lot calmer and would be able to handle Rabid Rodent Girl a lot better. Aaand she was asking those stoopid questions again. Hadn't he just asked - oh nevermind. “No. That's why I just asked you, thicko.” He said sarcastically. Pfft. He had nothing against muggles – much. He just didn't like being accused of being one when it was so obvious that he was of higher breeding.

“I thought you just said you didn't know any charms.” He scrunched up his face. She was being CONFUSING again. Man.. girls could be so odd. Still, he had decided that he wasn't going to let her get to him ANYMORE. No matter how hard she tried. That was supposed to be his little game. He drew his wand and grinned at her. “Perhaps you could show me?” He asked ever so politely knowing the Prefect was watching. “Help out new student here, you know?" He nudged her playfully with his elbow and smirked...

The more she yelled at him, the more Art chuckled. "Why are you still yelling?" he said with a smile. Okay, not Reagan. Two down, plenty more to go. He smiled as she asked why he ws still here if she was so bad.

"I don't recall saying that you were bad either. You really enjoy putting words in my mouth don't you?" he said with a quizzical grin.

Oh my, she isn't winning ad she is getting mad. A sore loser Silver? I didn't take you to be like that. She acts like a spoiled little princess. Art gave her a displeased frown, but then smiled again. Oh, wait...... that is it! A spoiled little princess. Princess.....Ryan.

"I am still here because, despite the current state of yelling, I like you. Believe it or not, I actually like you..." he smiled sweetly."....Ryan". he said with a knowing gleam to his eyes. He knew that he was right this time. He just knew.

"Really? Well, there can't be many of us, can there? Were you raised in the Wizarding World? I wasn't. My mum raised me in Oxfordshire after my dad died.

Sam's heart sank a little. "I don't have any memories of him. He died when I was two."

Sam smiled a slightly nervous smile. "Thanks." He was thrilled he had already made two acquaintances, if not friends, within his first hour at Hogwarts.

Kita bit her lip and looked down at the table. She hoped that Lorcan was ok. "Same. Yeah i will." she said looking back up at Kay. She wanted to ask why they weren't talking but she knew that this might upset her which is the last thing she wanted to do. "Can't wait for my classes and Quidditch. I bet you can't wait for Defence," she said smiling at her...

Rex saw a lonely girl. She is pretty. Rex accidentally knocked his elbow into her. "Sorry, mam" Rex told her. " I am very clumsy,mam" Rex said to her. " I am Rex Trigwell, mam and your name, mam?" Rex asked her. "What music are you listening to now on your i-pod?" Rex asked her. " I love to dance and I am a very good dancer" Rex explained to her. " Oh, I am only clumsy in front of cute girls, mam " Rex said to her.

" Well, I can't believe it, I am not the only clumsy one here, mam" Rex laughed. " I am laughing at myself" Rex said to the girl. Rex just tripped over the girl's foot. " My name is Rex Trigwell, mam" He told her. " I am clumsy when I see pretty girls" Rex explained to her.

" Hello, nice to meet you " Rex told the professor. Kay forgot to tell Rex the professor's name. " Yes, I will be saved by you in every class but Muggle sudies" Rex said to Kay. "Avery and I will be friends if she stops attacking me or any of my family and friends or there will be no friendship" Rex explained to Kay. " I thought we were good friends and had a good time at Jason's but apparently Avery forgot who her friends could be at times " Rex told Kay.

" Hello, mam" Rex said to Sarah. " Kay is a good girl and I happen to back my family, girlfriends and friends, mam" Rex explained to Sarah. Rex went to shook Sarah's hand and fell down. "Sorry, I am clumsy in front of nice looking girls" Rex told Sarah. " Well, I am sorry and yo uare right about the houses " Rex told her." The girls picked on Kay, pushed me out of the compartment. stopped them from using their wands by saying things that would bother them but not hurt them " REx did more explaining to Sarah. "Again, I am sorry for the incident but we kind of talked at the Slytherin table" Rex told her.

" Are you ok?" Rex asked Ema. "Is this boy giving your trouble, mam? Rex asked Emalyn about Jake, that is his name. " I like Mugglestudies ,flying and Magic" Rex told Emalyn."Well, we will stop being clumsy this year because we can" Rex said to Emalyn. "You will be a lot of fun to hang out with here" REx smiled at her.

"Hellu! I'm Scipia" She said to the girl. She looked older, but without anyone else around...
"Are you a transfer student or are you waiting for friends?" She looked at her hoping that the others around her wouldn't mind another body; everyone seemed so cheerful she didn't think that anyone would care.

"Im pretty sure a lot of people would want to be your friend." Emily said comforting. "There aren't many people here without a friend at all." she continued, beaming at him. "Your a muggleborn? I wouldnt have known if you just said. You look more like a halfblood to me."

"I wasnt actually raised in the Wizarding world. My mom, even a witch, loved every muggle, so we basically lived our life as muggle. My dad was loved living his life like that, buut he always wondered what it would be like to live life as a wizard."said Emily.


"Im not brave either." Emily agreed with a nod. "Infact, I get scared of the toaster. " she said, watching Nunually's expression to make sure she didnt say the wrong thing. "Im not that smart either, I get average grades." Emily said smiling. "And Slythern? I wouldnt fit in there at all, call me a wimp, but I try and fail in the end. "

"Stop SAYING THAT TO ME!" She growled and then took a deep breath, looking back at the Prefect and shot her a 'You see what crazyness I had to deal with?' look. Seriously, Sarah would understand, she had house pride. People can't go around insulting their houses without having to offend the actual students in that house. "Bah!" Miranda waved off his stupid calculations with a dissmissive hand. What did he know.

Thicko!? The way his curly head grew around his scalp, you'd assume he was the thick headed person. She walked closer to him, her motuth in a tense flat smile, and looked up at the giant. "Okay then. I just thought I'd make sure you actually understood what you were saying. I don't want to suddenly," she copied his airquotes, "put two and two together and assume you know stuff." Ha!

Stepping away from the boy, she turned to look around at the mess. This shouldn't be to difficult to clean, as long as Ollie kept to himself and didn't go all wild again.
Oh, who's the thick one here!? "How the flappers did you come to that conclusion? I didn't say anything of that sort!" She hadn't said that she didn't know any charms...not loudly anyway. Wait...was he reading her mind!? No...calm down now. He's to strange for that.

Putting a lock of black...white and green hair behind her ear, she straightened up and started to think of the incantation. Scourgify, was it? Or maybe it was Tergeo... Yes...atleast that's what she thought it was...either of those two. Bah, if only she had some sort of telepathic connection with Sarah, then she could tell her what it was. But Oliver's voice cut her focus and she turned her head.
"Teach you?" She asked incredulosly. And why was ge going all sweet and...eurgh. Oh, it was to look good infront of the Prefect. And he NUDGED HER! "I thought I told you..." her voice went dangerously low, "...NOT TO TOUCH ME!" KablAmooo!

She mumbled something about stupid smirk, closed her eyes and took a deep breath, opened her eyes and tried hard to smile politely. "Allright." Pause. "Just move your wand like this..." Swish swish, flick, whatever. "And say, 'Tergeo'..." She proceeded to point her wand at her robes, repeated the incantation and, voila! Rotting food, be gone!

Yay! It worked! Gosh...hopefully it would work again.
"Well, go on then!"

"Your right I can't wait for DADA. It my favorite class. I'm good at it." Kay said. "Thanks for looking out for Lorcan." Kay really did worry about him even if he hated her.

Kay listened to Rex and shake her head. "Why Miggle Studies? Are you really good at it?" She leaned into him to give support when Sarah and he talked. Kay wouldn't let the Syltherin hurt Rex or anyone she knew. "Sarah is a good person and she will understand." Kay whispered to Rex. She watched as he help another person from themselves. How hadn't she seen so many clumsy people before. "Are you still hungry?" Kay asked Rex. "I couldn't eat another bite." She said knowing that she didn't really eat that much.

" I am a muggle so of course that would be my best subject, dear" Rex told Kay." Well, I really like Sarah, she has good head on her shoulders" Rex said to Kay. "I would like you to eat a little more but it is your decision, not mine" Rex reassured Kay. " Anotheer piece of chicken, mashed potatos, and carrots would be good for me" Rex told heer. " Oh, I forgot, a slice of apple pie and ice cream on top" Rex laughed. Rex could eat. Texans had big appetites.

Kita laughed. "You are good at Defence" she said, "You're welcome. Oh yeah. I heard we won last year. Congrats!"

"Then you can help me in Muggle Studies. And I guess I would eat some Pie with Ice cream." Kay said looking at his plate. "It does sound good." Kay looked at the pie and hope it would go down. "Can you believe that Syltherin has lost points already. I wonder why?" Kay told Rex.

She came over to the Hufflepuff table hoping to maybe see someone from the train. Melanie or Cadence, or something. But... She didn't, no. Natasha glanced down the Hufflepuff table and was reminded of so many things. Then her eyes fell on a girl that looked kind of lonely.

"Hey," Natasha said with a smile. "You look kind of lonely."

" Hi mam" Rex told Kita. He fell over trying to shake her hand. " I am very clumsy in front of cute girls, mam" Rex explained to Kita. " I am Rex Trigwell, Kay's boyfriend, mam" Rex said to Kita.
" I will help you on Muggle studies" Rex told Kay. " Good. I am glad you make your own decisions" Rex said to Kay about her eating. "Well, I really do not want to talk about Slytherin now" Rex told her.
