Violet rolled her eyes, again. "Whatever, but what exactly am I here for?" she asked. So many possibilities . She continued to just continued looking around the place. She looked at the wall in disgust.

"I do not miss that." Truebridge eyed the fan mail with distaste and glanced at Vindictus. "I have my house elf do it." He hadn't ever been one to enjoy the lashings of fame.

He frowned at Violet and summoned her wand, pocketing it.

"You will stay here in detention until you can acknowledge your misdeeds and learn respect." He paused. "I have nowhere to be. If I have to I'd happily keep you here over the summer."

Annie might not appreciate that, but Ethan was not bovvered. This was a last ditch effort. Either Violet Riddle learned her place or she would be expelled.

Most likely not one person would be sad to see her go. Truebridge hoped to change that if possible.

"Get to work. If you speak again I will make things difficult for you." and it would be kind of fun....

... for the professors.

Violet sighed and looked at the fan mail with disgust. She took a photograph and dropped it purpousley. "Oopsies." she mumbled and gave a little smirk.
Mwaha. She raised her hand, looking impatiently at the professors, while one of the photographs just lay there on the icky dungeon floor.

Ethan flicked his wand and Violet's forehead glued itself to the table in front of her, making a distinctly painful sounding banging noise as her head made contact with the wood and then stuck there as if the table had grown out of her head.

"...Oopsies." He agreed solemnly.

Violet let out a low scream as her head hit the table. "OWW" she said painfully. "What's your problem?!" she asked, then biting her lip. Pain and anger were not a good mix in Violet's world.

"Well, you of course." Ethan frowned slightly in puzzlement at Violet's question and turned to Vindictus in an aside. "I'd have thought that was obvious. Apparently not."

He looked at Violet.

"You had best get to work."

"Whatever!" said Violet angrilly. She lifted up her head and there was a big red mark, she bit her lip. She grabbed a photograph and glared at it. "Stupid Professors...always self centered." she muttered under her breath. "Isn't there something else to do?"

"Apparently I'm out of practice." Ethan flicked his wand again and once more Violet's head stuck to the table. This time she wouldn't be able to move it without one of the professors releasing her.

"There is plenty to do. So. Get started."

Violet groaned as her head hit the table and stayed. She grabbed a photograph and put her hands all over it and then uncarefully threw it in a envelope. "Is this good enough?" she asked sarcastically. They make it harder by being stupid and making your forehead stick to the table!

"No," Vindictus replied and pointed his wand at the girl's stool. Now instead of being a rickety metal stool, it was now an old splintery one. "Go ahead and wiggle to your heart's desire. Or you can be an obedient young-" He hesitated. The word 'lady' clearly did not apply to this female. "Student. Resistance is futile, so do as you're told and quit talking."

"Whateverrrrrrrrr Mr. Strict." said Violet. She grabbed a photograph and put it in a envelope, and sealed it. But soon the little bit of obediance went away, and she forgot shouldn't be talking.
"Mr. Strict, why do you have 'fan mail'?". she asked. "Do you people actually like you?" hehe.

"Do you know how to spell the word SUSPENSION?" Vindictus asked coldly. "Because that's exactly where you're headed if you keep on defying Professor Truebridge and myself. By the way, ten days of suspension will result in a permanent expulsion from Hogwarts."

She rolled her eyes. She grabbed a photograph, looked at it with disgust and put it nice and neatly in a envelope was all Violet saidand sealed it. "Exscuse me though Mr.Strict, wouldn't you like to do this job? Im sure all these 'fans' would much rather have the great Mr. Strict put the photographs in envelopes rather than some silly 12 year old girl, in detention."

Vindictus shook his head and left the cell for a few minutes. When he returned, he was carrying a clipboard and was writing something down. "Care to say anything else before I send this to Headmaster Tate?" he asked Violet. "Because you clearly do not respect the professors nor the rules of this illustrious educational establishment."

Violet's eyes widened. "Sir, is that really necessary? Ill behave." she said nervously. "I mean come on were all buddies here right?" Last thing I need is Headmaster Tate hearing about this, bad enough I ran into him and was rude. she thought.

"Let me get this straight, you think we're buddies?" Vindictus asked with a raised eyebrow and wrote the comment down on the paper. "You're gravely mistaken, Miss Riddle. Professor Truebridge and I are professors, and you are a student who is clearly disregarding the rules of this educational institution. Talking back and even mocking a professor is direct defiance and disrespect. Yet you stubbornly continue to do so. If you used the grey matter located inside your cranium, then you'd come to the realization that you had better follow the rules and do as you're told."

He looked at Truebridge. "How much fanmail do you have? It appears Miss Riddle is eager to be of assistance without any further complaints." Then he glanced at Violet. "Am I correct, Miss Riddle? If I'm mistaken, then I'll deliver this document to Headmster Tate and ask for your roommates to pack your trunks."

Violet gulped. "I love fan mail! How much you got?" she replied nervously. She looked down at her hands biting her lip. She gave out a sigh thinking about how much fan mail TWO professors could have. When will this nightmare ever end? This is nothing like the punishments back home

It'd be a shame to have to expell the child. But it would happen if she did not buck up her ideas.

Hmmm.

Ethan nodded along sternly and when Vindictus addressed him he frowned thoughtfully.

"I will summon my house elf, I usually do not... well my elf is better at responding to the mail than I am."

"A side effect of fame unfortunately, it is not something I ever enjoyed." Ethan frowned at the little girl. "Tell me Violet, while you get to work, why is it you are so rude and disrespectful? Particularly to those who not only have far more value than what you do, but actually are willing to teach you and help you make your way here at Hogwarts? There must be a reason for it."

Violet put one of her hands over her mouth so she couldn't say anything bad, then after a minute she took her hand away, and forced a small smile. "I do it because.....um well you know." she said while putting photographs in the envelopes and sealing them. She continued to do this, but very quickly.

Vindictus frowned. "Please answer Professor Truebridge's question without the use of garbage words," he replied as he watched her handle his fan mail more carefully.

"Ok, well you see I do it because..." she trailed off. "I do it because I look up to the people so much that..I try to..get attention from them..Yeah thats it!" she said unconvincgly. Lies, lies, lies. She put more photographs in envelopes and sealed them. "You can't get in trouble for lying right?!" she said rather quickly and loud.

Vindictus shook his head. "Actually, you do get in trouble for lying, Miss Riddle," he said and smiled as a thought crossed his mind. Yes, we're going to continue this little chat next term. "Unfortunately, our time is coming to a close." And he gathered the fan mail from the table. "We will continue this, ahem, discussion next term over tea."

"What?! N-next term?! But-but what will I tell my parents? I can't tell them I got a detention for all they know Im little goody Violet!" she snapped. "And why do you smile when you say we will have this discussion next term?! Surely, this can't be fun for you!" She glared Professor Vindictus in the eyes.

"You aren't very smart are you?" Truebridge asked, a bit sadly. It was a shame really. Maybe that was why she was having trouble, since clearly she was the stupid one in her year.

Must be very difficult.

Truebridge didn't disagree but he did clarify quite seriously,

"You get in trouble if you don't lie well. But then if you get caught in a lie after the fact, the trouble increases tenfold."

Honestly, how was it that a Slytherin had trouble with that concept?

"Don't worry, we'll tell them for you." Truebridge informed her. "And we get paid to do this so it doesn't need to be fun for us. You will report to me in the Dueling Arena immediately after the opening feast next term. If I arrive before you, you will regret it. If you do not show up, you will regret it." He paused, "And then after I am finished with you, you may join Vindictus for... tea. And perhaps you will avoid expulsion."

Perhaps.

"You think Im not very smart?" said Violet rolling her eyes. He's lucky hes a professor. If he was nothing but a student he would wish he never said that.

"So what you're saying is that I can lie, I just have to lie well?" she said smirking.


Quickly the smirk got wiped off her face. "Its ok I mean you don't have to tell them, I could." she said then at his next words she said. "The dueling area? By the way I've been meaning to ask where did Professor Duskurk go? He was an awesome teacher! Then...you..came." She sighed. "And tea with Mr. Strict? What is this counseling?" she said sarcastically.
