"Protego Totalum," Sidney says as she holds her wand as tight as she can. She tries to concentrate on nothing but her shield charm. Protego Totalum, Protego Totalum.... I'm not going to let Daniel have my wand.

Nina laughed at herself. Becca was right.

So she occupied herself by tapping a beat on the floor with her fingers.

Did not see it coming the kid would actually get the measage and did a mediocre silent protego he thought would be enough but it was'nt. He fell to the ground from the clash and then he suddenly did not know what the heck was ggoing on, or where he was or anything.

Evan could have bitten his nails out of nervousness if it wasn't for defending his shield charm. And when the guy finally had a blank expression like he didn't know what was happening, the blondie had to blink for a few seconds to really believe he had just succeeded. He let out a shriek of delight and then did "Expelliarmus." and "Petrificus Totalus." easily. Of course, there was still a possibility the guy was just faking and wouldn't take his spells, but he didn't think he would do that. He knew he should stupefy him, but didn't really want to. That would be mean and it felt too dishonest now that he was already confused.

Professor Duskurk had retreated to a corner under the protection of a particularly strong shield charm (just in case) to observe how the students handled themselves. Most of the duels were as he expected, though some students did show some potential. he let them sort out any problems or injuries on their own. He allowed the torture to continue for a good hour before stepping out from the corner.

"I hope you have all learned a valuable lesson today. And I would like to invite you to utilize a dueling arena I will set up after class. If you were unable to find a partner I would urge you to find someone three years your senior to duel (or junior to assist). Extra credit may be given, at my discretion, to those who participate in this fashion.

"This concludes our lesson for today. Older students will be invited back for a special, second lesson in a few days time. Homework will be to answer the following questions:

1) What is cannon fodder and what can you do to avoid becoming it?
2) What can you do when facing a more talented and powerful adversary?

"If you are injured, please make your way to the hospital wing prior to heading to you next lesson. I will write notes of excuse for those who need them. Good day."

Cannon fodder?

Gold resisted the urge to eye Professor Duskurk. She wrote down the homework at the end of a spare notebook... would get to work on that, as soon as eve kicked in.

For now, though, she was here. Here, and glad that this lesson had been a lot better than their crazy last one. Sure, all those duels had been really unfair, but at least they had been a bit... educational. Not like the Cruciatus Curse, certainly.

She stood up straighter, and looked around. Anybody who still had to duel, could come up to her.

Rawrr.

Tiberius stood up from his corner as Duskurk ended the lesson. Looking around, he tried to see if anyone obviously needed help to the hospital wing.

As he pulled out parchment and a quill to scribble down his homework, he tried to think who he'd ask to duel with him in the arena.

Tucking those things away, Tibi slung his bag over his shoulder. "Anyone need a hand to the hospital wing?"

Aw, that's where the Professor has been this whole time. Slightly weird, yet understandable. Shaking her head slightly, she walked towards her bag in the back of the room, noticing that even though her clothes, hair, and shoes were dry, her socks weren't. And that has got to be the most uncomfortable feeling possible...

Sighing and closing her eyes for a tiny moment when she got to her bag, Evelyn glanced at what the homework was before bending down and picking up her notebook and quill. After copying it down, she placed everything back into her bag and stood up, looking around for Destiny. Now to just head back to the common room to fix her hair and grab a new pair of socks...and shoes...

Awww. Nina thought as Professor Duskurk ended the class. She wanted another chance to duel. However, she opted out of staying after, although she wanted the extra credit. She thought maybe she'd take a walk around the courtyard... She could use the cold, fresh air.

Yes, class was over. Marie would not be sticking around to duel again. No way, once was enough for her in one day. She didn't want to risk being hung upsidedown and knocked unconscious again. Although she could use the extra credit points. She looked around to see if there were any older students who looked like they were going to stick around when she noticed Evan.

Evan was still dueling and it appeared as if he was winning. 'Yay go Evan' she silently cheered to herself. She didn't want to yell it out and cause him to lose his concentation, that would be bad.

She grabbed her things, wrote down the homework assignment then watched Evan. She would just wait for him to finish before she decided if she was going to stay and duel anymore.

End of class, eh? Evan was delighted that he didn't lose. Now that he was more encouraged, he thought he could actually give it a try to this new dueling arena. He didn't wait anymore to see if his spells hit the guy or if he could break from his trance and send anything back. Giving a polite head bow to the guy--he was still a better wizard than him after all, nevertheless his defeat today, the blondie slumped his bag to his back and looked around. Marie was waiting there for him, he noticed. Giving a huge grin, he walked towards her, and then to the door. "Who did you duel again--" His voice grew smaller as he got out of the classroom. You could tell he was extremely excited to have won.

Yes, Evan won his Duel. "Congratulations" she said to him when he came over to her. "You did great, a lot better than I did." she said as they went out into the hall. She walked out of the class with him answering him as they got into the corridor.

Still looking at the money Georgiana had given her, Allison quickly took note of her homework in her head and stared at the mess on the floor. Because Professor Duskurk hadn't said a thing about the mess of roses, Allison did nothing to clean up. Quietly she grabbed her ruined robes, held her wand tightly and proceeded towards the exit. Of course before doing so she gave Professor Duskurk one last look expecting him to growl about the roses left behind, before heading towards the nearest exit--that is ran through for escape.

Whoa.

Creepy Professor should not be hiding in a corner like that. Destiny jumped a little when he came out and started talking. Too creepy, seriously.

Destiny sure did learn a valuable lesson today, it was that creepy men hid in creepy corners. And she learned what Gold hold told her about staying calm. Next time, Destiny will be ready..she just hoped there was not a next time.

She shook her head when he said they could duel again. She didn't care how many extra points she would get, there was no way she would duel someone older than her again. Too bad there were no ten-year-olds, she might have thought about it then.. Searching the room for Evelyn, she found her and, well, she looked like she was just in a duel. 'Are you staying? I'm not..' Noooo way!

Still wandering around a little, looking for her friend as people filed out of the classroom, Evelyn thought over the idea of staying versus the idea of leaving. It was a tough choice. For one, if she stayed, she could duel other people again and possibly get extra credit if that's what the professor meant, but on the other hand, too much dueling for her usually...

But, the voice in her head was gone right? She hadn't heard it in over a year, so it would be safe to just duel a little more...right? "Wait, wait. Destiny..." she said, grabbing her friends arm. "C'mon. There is the possibility of extra credit. Do you want Gryffindor to beat us?" Well, that would certainly persuade Evelyn if it was being told to her... "I don't want to stay here by myself." With the creepy Professor.

And Evelyn wanted to stay. Crud. If only Destiny was fast enough she could totally run away right now. But Evelyn had her arm and she wanted to have her arm attached as she ran. 'Gryffindor I don't mind losing too..' It was true, Josh was in Gryffindor and so was Gold..and they were both nice..Rex was her only Gryffindor problem, that git. 'I just don't want Hufflepuff to win.' which was reason enough to stay.

Plus, Evelyn didn't want to stay by herself, and Destiny wouldn't leave her there alone..with ProfesSir Creeps Alot. 'Fine, I'll stay.' she agreed and placed her bag back on the floor.

If she stayed, did she have to duel too?

Good good. So Destiny was going to stay. Which means that she didn't have to stay by herself with Creepy dude there. Even if he was awesome at the same time. "Good point there. Well, we can't have either of them beat us. Oh, by the way, do you have a hair tie?" Because her hair was frizzy again from the drying charm that Gold used on her. Seriously, she should've just let it dry by itself. It wouldn't have frizzed that way...

Walking back over to the back, she set her bag down again, and leaned against the wall, and looking around. She would have to dry her socks some other way then since she wasn't going immediately back to the common room. Maybe Gold could teach her that drying thing she did.

Keeley was still laughing as the lesson ended. Dang, that spell was strong! Her head still hurt horribly, and she hoped that the golf-ball sized bump was obvious as Tibi asked if people needed help. Although they hadn't really met, everyone knew him. Tiny Tibi was a common thing to hear. She could really go herself, but she was rather dizzy and light-headed, and leaving would be a problem when you're on the ground laughing. She looked up at him, unable to voice her dilemna, but hoping the point would be made.

After what seemed like forever, the effects of all the spells had finally wore off Arya. She still didn't know that she had pink hair, and thankfully never would unless someone mentioned it to her. Getting up and still giggling, though thankfully at her normal volume, she picked up her wand and looked over to Kellen. "That was fun Kellen. Can't wait to do it again. See ya later!"Sticking her tounge out at him playfully she ran out of the classroom to the library, hoping to get a head start on her homework.

Destiny really, really didn't want to stay. The Professor was really creepy and she did not like duelling. Gahh! That Evelyn knows how to talk someone into something. Kneeling beside her bag, Destiny looked for that extra hair tie that was in there somewhere. Her bag was starting to get messy again and she should really clean it, but she just didn't feel like it. Pulling the hair tie out, Destiny brushed off the little pieces of parchment that magically stuck to it. 'Here you go.' she held it out to Evelyn.

What were they supposed to do? Wait for someone to come over to them? Hopefully no one would come, at least not to Destiny. She didn't want to fail miserably again. 'What are we supposed to do?' Maybe Evelyn had an idea.

Candy decided to stay back. She wanted extra credit! Maybe she could duel someone? Like someone who wouldn't be too BAD? She looked around saw the Gryffie prefect. OOOH! PREFECT!!

"Preffeccttt," she said, going up to Gold and looking all HAPPY. "Would you like to DUEL me??!!" PulLEASSE? She really hadn't duelled anyone.

"You're four years older than me riiight?" The professor had allowed that, if you couldn't find a partner exactly three years older or younger hadn't he? OOOH. How AWESOME!!

Sidney concludes her shield charm. Her wand then flies into Daniel's hand. "Great lesson. Do you think we could practice together sometime?"

Aww, it was Candy.

"That sounds wonderful, Candy," Gold said, with a nod. "We're going to have to head to the Duelling Arena, though." Because that was what Professor Duskurk had said, was it not? That he was going to set up a duelling arena, for them?
