Professor Duskurk stepped into his classroom and banished the desks and chairs. It was standing room only for this class...
NOTE: For those just joining us, please go to the OOC thread in the classroom and find a dueling partner. Then, you may come back here and practice dueling.
UPDATE: Lesson has ended. Homework is as follows and will be due one week from the date of this post.

2) What can you do when facing a more talented and powerful adversary?
"If you are injured, please make your way to the hospital wing prior to heading to you next lesson. I will write notes of excuse for those who need them. Good day."
Sidney smiles. Do you think you could show me the right positions. You know that salute thing and the position to begin with. Tiberius and the prefect moved so fast. I missed most of what was going on."
Daniel nodded. "So, shall we start? I will show you the stance first." he said looking at her.
"So, first of all, you oface your opponent, while wands are of the ready, you both take a bow." he showed her how to do the stance and the bow. "Then, you both walk for five to ten steps away from the opponent. After facing the opponent, you must do the stance and then, it is time to start." he said showing her all the correct moves that he know of.
"Did you get it?" he asked to check if she understood.
Sidney watches Dan as he assumes the stance and explains everything. "Sounds similar to muggle fencing only with wands." Sidney lets her wand ease its way out of her holster. It falls effortlessly in her right hand. "Do I place my right foot to the front? I'm right handed."

"Well, although I am not familiar with that, I must say, that it is similar." he said looking at her.
"And as for foot placement, I reckon you od the comfortable thing for you. Properly and formally, that is the correct stance. Right foot forward for right handed and Left foot for lefties." he said looking in her eyes. "But in the real world and informally, where you are most comfortable, then, it is what you must, do? Did you get me?" he asked.
I think so." Sidney stands up straight and places her wand at her side. "Ready when you are." Sidney says a little prayer that Dan isn't too hard on her. [/I]It usually just take one hex and my duel was over with Harry. Of course he's better at accidental magic than I am.

Daniel smiled at her and said, "Let's start!"
He said and then started to do the things that he had instructed Sidney, starting with the bow and the walking away and then doing the stance.
While walking away, he muttered a small incantation to himself, Salvia Hexia. This is one spell that he practiced casting without muttering a word.
He then faced Sidney and started. "Flipendo" aiming at Sidney.
Alarmed, Daphne momentarily considered panicking. Luckily for her, instinct made her haphazardly bring up her wand. "Protego!" she shouted feeling the spell bounce away from her, blinking her eyes furiously. Daphne aimed her wand where she thought she heard the voice come from.
"Stupefy! FURNUNCULUS!" chanted the blond, giving speedy chase in...whatever direction. Just enough to aim her own wand at her eyes. "Finite."
Ehhh?? That second year was out to kill her.
Watching Daphne stumbling, Patroclus felt bad for using the blindfold spell, however as he went to remove it, Daphne full of vigor and determination shot two spells in quick sucession.
Patrolcus dove out of the way yet his leg was hit by the Stunner, however the pain was worth missing the dreaded facial boils of Furnunculus he thought to himself. As Daphne removed the blindfol herself, Patroclus now crouched low on the ground cried "Aguamenti" and in the next breathe "Tarantallegra".
He thought the now slippery wet floor would be a nightmare accompaining the jelly leg.

Sidney stands up straight ( three inches higher than when she slouches), places her wand under her nose (she hope this thing doesn't go off in its own or bye-bye nose), and salutes Dan. She then starts counting off the ten paces not paying the least bit of attention to what he's doing. Sidney swears she feels an electricity in the air and then something tickles her hinny. She moves her left hand to check on things back there. Sidney finds herself flying through the air and sitting on the floor in like three seconds. I'm glad Harry doesn't go to Hogwarts. He'll never let me live this one down. I'm defeated before I even turn around. This guy is bad with a capital B. She turns around on her seat so she is now facing Dan. "Can I get up, or does Professor Duskurk have to declare me officially dead?" This is going to be a long class. I wonder what the wizarding equivalent to the rubber doughnut is? I'm going to need one by the time class is over.
OOC: I hope I got the spell right. I couldn't find the "Flipendo" in HP Lexicon. Night.

OOC: I intended that spell to hit you when you are facing at me... LOL But its alright. I am vicious, am I?
Eh. Keeley blinked her large blue eyes rather exhausted, but embarrassed that people were so worried. Sure, her head hurt like heck but she would probably be fine. Then her head throbbed rather painfully. Okay, maybe not. "Er- it really wasn't Sarah's fault. I wasn't ready, and I'm kinda small so the spell hit me hard because I'm small and-" Okay.. wayy too much talking. Gah, it made her head hurt. And water. "Oh, er, yes please. If it's not too much trouble or something" Keeley felt that she was asking too much of them.
" Glad you are better" Rex told Keely. " Go get them" Rex laughed.

Suddenly a light bulb turned on and Allison knew a spell she could use to get rid of the blind-fold, but it would cost her time for her to do it, and if it didn't work she would leave herself open for the attack that...FOR THE ATTACK THAT GEORGIE HAS JUST SENT HER WAY. Hearing the flap of wings Allison moved her wand and her remaining butterflies flew to intercept the birds, however Georgiana's magic was much more powerful than Allison's and immediately several of the butterflies sent banished. Suspecting as much Allison raised her stiff-robe shield and felt the birds hit instantly. Hearing them chirp through the robes--for their beaks were like little needles and they were the only things that went through the extremely hard robes, Allison aimed the wand at her face and sent Merlin a quick prayer that it would work, "Diffindo!"
Much to her own surprise the blind-fold ripped and fell off her face. The sight that was their dueling field was a sight. Both Georgiana and Allison were covered with petals, the entire floor had white roses of all sizes, and a mountain of roses had collected where Georgiana had previously blown them against the wall. Narrowing her eyes Allison turned to her robes and couldn't help but start laughing, the small birds were caught in her robes and chirping for release. Tapping each bird they poof'd and disappeared. Taking once more a defense stance Allison waited while trying to erase the grin on her face.
Georgiana was surprised when Allison finally got her blindfold off, well it was sort of good to, it would make the fight a lot more interesting. Now that they both had their full senses, which made for a fairer fight. Georgiana looked up hearing Allison laugh, she looked around as well, and couldn't help but join her. It looked hilarious! All the flowers around. Georgie brushed petals off her shoulder and sneezed, before turning back towards Allison and readying her wand, laughter gone.
Now was time to get back to the fight, and though Georgie knew she had the oppurtune moment to take over and end this battle right here and now, she vetoed the idea, she was enjoying this fight, and it was giving her a lot of practice. She raised her wand, "Densaugeo!" she yelled out, watching as Allison's teeth grew.
(ooc: YOU EVIL PERSON! Not giving Allison a chance or an opportunity to act out whether or not she got hit by your spell! LOL)

BUT IT WAS ALL GEORGIANA'S IMAGINATION! No, it wasn't. At least Allison wished it had been Georgiana's imagination. Thoroughly embarrassed Allison touched the two large teeth in the front. Now she truly looked like a bunny. Even though she knew she had no idea how Finite Incantatem worked so gave it a try, "FWENI-TEH!" However the teeth didn't allow her to speak. Not only did she still have an injured boily arm, but now Allison had no way of getting rid of her teeth.
It was over. With two buck-teeth she had no way of speaking. Without being able to speak she had no way of casting spells or conjuring new things. Allison looked at her useless wand and big shiny tears ran down her face. It was over over over. From the beginning she had known she'd lose but now that it was happening she felt so empty. Still raining roses, Allison moved her wand to end their fall. However because she didn't really mean it and her head she saw the roses falling in streams on Georgiana's head, the roses instead poured on the fourth year and with a sudden poof ceased to fall altogether.
The image of the fourth year stopped her sobbing and Allison began to cry of laughter. Her young giggles however sounded like whistling because of the two large teeth. Wiping her tears Allison dropped her robe shield and ran over to Georgiana where she began to dig her out of the mountain of roses. Finally getting her out Allison hugged the taller girl's waist and gave her a big bunny grin, "Twat was fun."

" I am confused" Rex told Georgiana. " I always thought you helped others espeically Kay and Keely from your house" Rex said to Georgie. " the Magical Five" is about helping others besides sticking up for them" Rex explained to Georgie. Rex is dissapointed in her.
" Glad you are better" Rex told Keely. " Go get them" Rex laughed.
" Want to duel with me?" Rex asked Kay. " You will not win" Rex laughed.
Kay smiled at Rex when he thought people were really dueling. "Rex come duel with me. Georgie is just doing class work as we all are. You just lost track of what was going on." She pulled Rex over to an opened area. "Ok, ready. We'll start. I'm Not sure if we are to duel twice but I guess I'm going to find out." Kay held her wand up and bow to Rex. She turned and counted off her steps. She hoped that Rex was doing the some. She wasn't sure how good Rex was with his wand and wonder if she would end up in hospital. Kay ready herself to turn.

gah! I'm sorry! I wasn't sure how I was to do it just in case the spell was unknown as to what it did...>.<
Georgiana felt so bad as the girl began to cry. Aw, she hadn't want to do THAT, but she had now, and she felt bad over it. But suddenly, the girl was laughing, as Georgiana realized she was standing in a mountain of roses, her eyes grew wide.
ACHOO, ACHOO, ACHOO!
Merlin! She was thankful for Allison when the young girl began to dig her out. Georgie stepped away from the noses, recovering a hankie and wiping her nose with it, stupid roses. She smiled and returned Allison's hug, chuckling slightly. "It was fun! Most epic duel ever." she said happily, then looked down at the young girl, "Need help with the teeth?"
From her crouching position, Ivory watched as alertly as she could, not able to help the small smile on her face. This was the most fun she'd had in ages...now she understood why all her cousins made such a big fuss about it.
Her eyes followed the light from her last cast as she brought her wand up to cast 'Protego' again...this time with intent. Crouching her body lower, her eyes widened as she saw the spell somehow go through Melanie's shield and then come rush back toward her. But that wasn't the only thing rushing towards her! No, it seemed that Melanie herself was charging.
Not knowing whether to risk her shield fizzling out and leave her open for another attack, be it magical or physical, she did something she had not done since possibly kindergarten, which was actually not all that long ago.
Tucking her body, which was quite easy since she'd already been crouching, she let herself roll forward and to her right, the last thing she saw being a jet of red light shooting over her head, that she knew from having seen earlier was a characteristic of the Disarming charm.
Of course she did wonder why mid-somersault she did feel her small legs seem to become quite heavier, but she dismissed it simply elated, thinking that she'd been able to dodge both spells that had rushed her way. She'd had her shield up as she'd rolled forward so it was just her imagination, right? Her feet had totally not been sticking out....right?
It didn't take too long for her to find out otherwise. Using momentum to bring herself back up, she then realized with a small gasp what had happened.
Her legs seem to have gotten the diluted remains of her earlier spell that had somehow bounced back from Melanie's shield.
So there she was, holding up a flickering shield, her legs about as heavy as they could get, when she realized that Melanie was no longer in front of her which only left....
Knowing it would take her too long to turn around but counting on the Sound Muffling charm to still do its job, she cast the first thing that came to mind, and aimed her wand behind her. (Well that was a lie because the first thing that came to mind was 'Geminio' but of course there was no use for that now) Papillio!"
Using the distraction and the useful-ness of the many blue mini-shields that appeared and camouflaged her from view, she then pointed her wand to her legs. Now what was that spell....in the space of a millisecond her brain went on overload.
Finet Incantation? Finite Incantartom? Finite Incantetam? Noooo, she couldn't for the life of her remember what the darn thing was....
Glad to have the coverage of the many butterflies, she dropped down to the floor. Seeing Melanie's feet not to far off, she aimed her wand and cast the Jelly-Legs Jinx. concentrating her intent of thinking of well jello actually. As if in answer to her thoughts she felt a small pang from her stomach. And her whole demeanor cheered up, it must be nearing lunchtime.
....'Finite Incantatem.' Her ears perking up, she heard a nearby Ravenclaw utter the words she was looking for.
"Aha, Finite Incantatem." Having only practiced that spell a few times before when she been practicing the hair arranging charm and couldn't remember the disarranging incantation, her technique wasn't all that up to par. Her legs although they did at least regain mobility, still felt a bit stiff.
Bringing up her wand in a shield yet again as she noticed some of her butterflies/mini shields slowly going off, she let it hover in front of her, a huge smile on her face as she heard Arya's giggles fill the room.
Hearing her stomach give a 'Godzilla-like' growl, she couldn't help laughing and smiling at Melanie, her eyes dancing with mirth.
...
Darn. Missed again. Frowning, Melanie raised her wand once more to send another curse at the Ravenclaw, but she didn't get a chance.
No, of course not, because she was surrounded by butterflies. Melanie would have batted the butterflies back, but she didn't want to hurt the pretty creatures. She got distracted pretty easily, watching a purple one flap it's wings, flying about, and then landing on her shoe. Melanie stood perfectly still...watching it intently with round green eyes. It probably wasn't the smartest move in the middle of a duel, but never had a butterfly land on her before... Awww....
Uh-oh. Then the pretty purple butterfly was hit by Ivory's Jelly-Legs Jinx. Time to come back to reality, maybe? Her butterfly flew away, so far oblivious it's misfortune. She'd try and find it later... Melanie, looking absolutely crestfallen, stumbled away from the crowd of butterflies, waiting patiently for them to disassemble and for Ivory to appeared.
Annnnnnd, there she was, looking all cute and innocent. Melanie didn't really want to fight her, but she wasn't stupid. If she didn't do anything, she would surely end up with noodle legs, a stone ear...or some other oddity.
"Confundo!" Melanie aimed her wand at the other girl's feet, ducking as she spoke. Then she followed it up with a second curse, going offensive, instead of protecting herself with a defensive spell. This time, she spoke quieter, trying to hide the fact she was spell casting, as Ivory had done countless times before, only Melanie attempted to do so without employing an actual spell to do it. Melanie just...acted as if she wasn't. She sent a twitchy ears hex flying toward Ivory's head, and then brought herself back up to her feet again, breathing hard, but still moving... Minus her left shoulder.
Huff-puff. Huff-puff. Huff-PUFF.
She felt OLD. Casting spell after spell really took a toll on a person. Gosh.
Still crouching down by Keeley, Sarah looked up as she heard a voice nearby.Relieved to see it was Cela, she tilted her head to one side as she watched her bring the second year around.Dropping to her knees, Sarah helped Cela sit Keeley up, by putting a hand on her back. "Keeley, I'm so sorry.I really thought you were ready....Please forgive me." Sarah knew this lesson was all about duelling, and they had to try and stun their opponent, but she just wasn't the sort of person to hurt others intentionally.
As Cela sorted her fellow Ravenclaw out with water and some advice, Sarah stood up.She felt bad.Really bad. This was like bullying, forcing the older more experianced students to duel ones that didn't know so many spells.Nodding her head at the suggestion of practice in the duelling arena, Sarah fiddled with the wand in her hand. "Anytime you want to get your own back," she smiled, "let me know."

Mina glanced around, she didn't want to actually duel anyone, her little duel in potions last year was more than enough for her, but she did want to at least partcipate in the lesson. The class had been one of her favourites before but now her grades in it were less than stellar and that annoyed her to no end. She definitely had to change that.

A swift flick of his wand produced a shield, just in case anyone had that poor an aim.
The one thing the shield couldn't keep out, though, was the feeling that someone was looking at him. In that 'see how smart I am' way. He glanced to the side, frowning at the source as she looked off somewhere else.
Was class over yet? He had the sudden urge to get out of here, and it wasn't because of the spells flying back and forth.
Seeing an older Slytherin, she tilted her head. Yes, that was the other Slytherin Prefect. She know he looked familiar. She knew for a fact, she couldn't possible handle a duel with him, but she did have to make the attempt. Otherwise, there was no real reason for her to have even showed up.
Slowly, she walked up and in a small voice, addressed him. "Sorry to disturb you, Mr. Slytherin Prefect. I need a partner to duel with. I promise it will be real quick. I'm not good at duels and stuff." Great, she was rambling again. She had to be nervous now.
Can't this be over, so I can hide in the library again.

"Twat woul' bee greatly apweciated," Allison nodded. Stepping back from the older student she glanced at her ruined robes. The problem with being very new to certain spell names and how to cast them was that it was extremely difficult to reverse them. Especially since she really didn't know how to return her robes into their normal state. Giving a light shrug Allison immediately winced. She'd certainly have to visit the School nurse with that boily arm of hers. However a scarier thought occurred to her, how on earth would she tell her mother that she had had her first duel and not only has she lost but it had hurt her arm and cost her a new pair of robes.
With a loud sigh, or whistle in this case, she waited for the fourth year to remove her teeth. Turning she noticed that Arya had finished her duel with fire-breathing Stern and that Ivory was still at it with the other Hufflepuff. The minute she got her teeth back she'd thank Georgiana, convince her to be friends, and walk over to Arya who seemed to have had an excellent time dueling.

Hmm what? Raiden looked up from his feet in surprise. A small Ravenclaw who still needed a partner? Nodding, Raiden pushed himself away from the wall and gave her a smile.
"It's Raiden. I don't mind dueling you..." he flicked his wrist and his wand slid into his hand. "You know how to block and stuff, right? I dunno if Marie did..."
He gestured at her and stepped away, putting space between them.

She gave Destiny a cheerful smile, then looked around the classroom. Seemed like most of the people had wrapped up their duels. Did that mean this lesson was drawing to a close?
It had better be.
Gold didn't want to duel, again. At least, not with someone all younger than herself.
Hmm.
Destiny would have to go back to the library and learn more spells, especially if there would be dueling in this class. She didn't like dueling an older student. 'Really bright butterflies too.' Yes, she was still seeing those ever so bright flapping bugs flying towards her. And then the birds..ate them.
Well, she didn't know if the birds ate them, by that time she was blind. Blind and flailing is no way to win a duel, that's for sure. 'I'll have to remember to stay calm next time.' she nodded. And always have her shield up ready.
Now that they were done, what were they supposed to do? Just watch everyone else and dodge stray spells? Where was Evelyn?
Better yet, where was a first year at? Maybe Destiny could duel them real fast..
Shifty.

Mina smiled back. She had been slightly worried about whether or not he would be one of the nicer Slytherins, but he seemed nice so her nerves were set at ease for the moment.
"I'm Mina and thank you." she moved to reach for her wand. Perhaps one day she would be able to do just as Raiden did with the wand. It was cool and everything. "Yeah, blocking I can do. Timing on the other hand, might not be my friend." she shrugged as she took a step back herself.

Vision blurry, Daphne tried to make out her dueling partner. But, honestly, why were they all cramped up in one room going at it? This was hardly safe. Shuffling in water, Daphne whipped out her wand. "Protego!" nooo wiggly legs for her thanks.
Except, what was he trying to do? Get her wet?! The horror! Those were new shoes she was wearing! Running a bit, Daphne slid as she aimed her wand once more at the boy. "Incarcerous!"
Okay, atleast he could do some spells but to Herminny he seemed rather pathetic for a 7th year, he was not even fast enough to fully escape her stupefy even after he finally cut himself loose. She saw him put put up a magical sheild but in his state she knew his sheild would not be all that strong. She knew a few stupefies would break and by that time she hoped Barry would be back to himself so the duel would not come to a pathetic end. With that she thought stupefy after stupefy about 5 times and 5 stupefys came out of her wand one after another aimed right for Barrys shield.
Barrys eyes were closed now. There was nothing else he could do. He was trying to keep the sheild strong. The stunning spell was wearing off now and that was great, soon he would actually do something. He felt little vibrations as the stunning spells hit getting stronger and stronger as his sheild weakended. The spells rebounded and headed back towards herminny but his spell was broken. That was bad. He raised his wand and sent a few different spells towards Herminny. They were verbal because he wasn`t sure if he was back to his full senses yet. He sent the jelly legs, jelly brain and body binding curse towards her. They might suprise her
