Professor Duskurk stepped into his classroom and banished the desks and chairs. It was standing room only for this class...
NOTE: For those just joining us, please go to the OOC thread in the classroom and find a dueling partner. Then, you may come back here and practice dueling.
UPDATE: Lesson has ended. Homework is as follows and will be due one week from the date of this post.

"Hehehehehehe..you--hehehe--you're a m-marvelous dancer!Hehehe..."Feeling another spell hit her she, but not feeling the effects she wondered what exactly he cast to her. It wasn't a spell she was familiar with, but was sure she heard it cast before. Her hair was pulled into a ponytail so she couldn't see the bright pink color it had changed to.
With all her giggling she found it hard to cast spells his way. Taking a fighting stance, a whole new wave of giggles pored out of her lips as she struggled to point her wand at the boy."Oorchideousss, heheheehe!" suddenly Kellen was surounded by dozens of yellow daisys. giggling at the sight she cast another spell,"Hehehe,Obssscuuro!" before throwing back up her shield as she continued her fit of giggles.
The effects of the leg-lock spell were definitely wearing off, and his legs picked up tempo as they went. At least tap-dancing had a fairly steady rhythm?
He couldn't help but laugh with her, even though it was a cheering charm that was giving her the giggles, "Thanks, I've had lessons!"
And she was casting flowers at him? That wasn't exactly a damaging spell. The blindfold didn't help though, and his laugh turned into a sigh as his vision was cut off.
Kellen needed a spell to break her shield first, and cast "Petrificus Totalus!" He was counting on the fact that she wasn't moving, and followed up with "Sonorus!" If he could hear her laughter clearly, he wouldn't need to be able to see. Although the dancing was starting to get distracting. He pointed his wand as his enthusiastically tap-dancing legs and muttered, "Finite."
Allison saw Arya walk of with fire-boy Kellen, and Ivory walk off with a Hufflepuff she had not yet met. Feeling uneasy she began to inch towards the wall of the classroom in hopes that no one would find her. She needed a fourth year student to duel with, however she had never done any dueling before in her life. Sure she had read spells and she had imagined herself casting them countless of times, yet the idea that it would actually work was quite silly.
Taking out her wand beneath the layers of clothing she was wearing, she held in to her chest in defense. She was going to die! Her mother was going to stalk down whoever harmed her! That included the DADA professor. The only sense of relief Allison felt was at the prospect she'd come back as a ghost and haunt people. Bwhaha much?
Georgiana looked around the classroom and saw Arya walk off with someone to duel, cross her off the list to duel with. And she couldn't see Nulu anywhere either. But then she spotted a girl who'd been with Arya. She looked like a first year, and appeared to need a partner. Georgie made her way over towards her, "Hi, are you a first year?" she smiled sweetly and held out her hand. "Georgiana Baker, 4th year Hufflepuff."

The Hufflepuff had decided to keep back, so she had more time to dodge the spells, and react. Unfortunately for her, it would probably give Ivory more time as well. It was the best she could do, though, for if she got hit by a spell that would immobilize her, and keep her from casting, Melanie was gone for.... And a first year would have beat her in a duel. That would be more than a small hit to her ego, even if the first year she was dueling with at the moment seemed to be quite smarter than the average eleven year old.
Both of Melanie's eyes darted back and forth, trying to keep up with the movement of the younger girl, watching her fall to the ground (not without guilt welling up in her stomach), and then hop to her feet once more. She didn't fail to spot her yelling ...and then speaking something...
Problem was, Melanie had absolutely no idea what she was doing... at first. She wasn't the best lip reader. However, though it took her a moment, Melanie recognized the wand movement she had only just used. It appeared the Ravenclaw was employing a shield charm.
Things are not always as they seem though. It was something Melanie should know by now...something she was learning, by dueling Ivory. She had only a split second to react to the beam of light flying toward her, and she took full advantage of that, flicking the shield she'd formed earlier up to protect her face and shoulders. She took another step backward, to find herself standing against a wall. Not good.
The shield flickered once more, disappearing moments after the curse hit it.
The spell hit her. It came through the shield, so it didn't hit directly, but it still hit Melanie. What was left of the spell bounced off her shield and flew back toward Ivory. Melanie's left shoulder was paralyzed by the fraction of the spell that hadn't been deflected by her flickering shield. She knew she would need to at least make an attempt at ending the duel soon or she would be letting Ivory take advantage of her, now passive, left shoulder. Thankfully, her legs still worked perfectly fine, and so did her wand hand.
She charged her, in order to make sure her aim was sufficient and in order to give Ivory a small time to react. "Expelliarmus!" she whispered, flicking her wand Ivory's wand hand, and then up slightly. Melanie didn't attempt to stun her. That way if Ivory really had cast a shield charm, the spell that bounced back at her wouldn't completely handicap her... Melanie spinned around, looping around Ivory so she was now standing behind her, and no longer up against the wall she'd backed herself into mere seconds earlier.
Dueling was proving to be more difficult than she could have imagined, but Melanie didn't mind one bit. She liked excitement, and if dueling wasn't an adrenaline rush she didn't know what was.
From her crouching position, Ivory watched as alertly as she could, not able to help the small smile on her face. This was the most fun she'd had in ages...now she understood why all her cousins made such a big fuss about it.
Her eyes followed the light from her last cast as she brought her wand up to cast 'Protego' again...this time with intent. Crouching her body lower, her eyes widened as she saw the spell somehow go through Malanie's shield and then come rush back toward her. But that wasn't the only thing rushing towards her! No, it seemed that Melanie herself was charging.
Not knowing whether to risk her shield fizzling out and leave her open for another attack, be it magical or physical, she did something she had not done since possibly kindergarten, which was actually not all that long ago.
Tucking her body, which was quite easy since she'd already been crouching, she let herself roll forward and to her right, the last thing she saw being a jet of red light shooting over her head, that she knew from having seen earlier was a characteristic of the Disarming charm.
Of course she did wonder why mid-somersault she did feel her small legs seem to become quite heavier, but she dismissed it simply elated, thinking that she'd been able to dodge both spells that had rushed her way. She'd had her shield up as she'd rolled forward so it was just her imagination, right? Her feet had totally not been sticking out....right?
It didn't take too long for her to find out otherwise. Using momentum to bring herself back up, she then realized with a small gasp what had happened.
Her legs seem to have gotten the diluted remains of her earlier spell that had somehow bounced back from Melanie's shield.
So there she was, holding up a flickering shield, her legs about as heavy as they could get, when she realized that Melanie was no longer in front of her which only left....
Knowing it would take her too long to turn around but counting on the Sound Muffling charm to still do its job, she cast the first thing that came to mind, and aimed her wand behind her. (Well that was a lie because the first thing that came to mind was 'Geminio' but of course there was no use for that now) Papillio!"
Using the distraction and the useful-ness of the many blue mini-shields that appeared and camouflaged her from view, she then pointed her wand to her legs. Now what was that spell....in the space of a millisecond her brain went on overload.
Finet Incantation? Finite Incantartom? Finite Incantetam? Noooo, she couldn't for the life of her remember what the darn thing was....
Glad to have the coverage of the many butterflies, she dropped down to the floor. Seeing Melanie's feet not to far off, she aimed her wand and cast the Jelly-Legs Jinx. concentrating her intent of thinking of well jello actually. As if in answer to her thoughts she felt a small pang from her stomach. And her whole demeanor cheered up, it must be nearing lunchtime.
....'Finite Incantatem.' Her ears perking up, she heard a nearby Ravenclaw utter the words she was looking for.
"Aha, Finite Incantatem." Having only practiced that spell a few times before when she been practicing the hair arranging charm and couldn't remember the disarranging incantation, her technique wasn't all that up to par. Her legs although they did at least regain mobility, still felt a bit stiff.
Bringing up her wand in a shield yet again as she noticed some of her butterflies/mini shields slowly going off, she let it hover in front of her, a huge smile on her face as she heard Arya's giggles fill the room.
Hearing her stomach give a 'Godzilla-like' growl, she couldn't help laughing and smiling at Melanie, her eyes dancing with mirth.

Kellen was laughing with her so atleast she wasn't the only one looking silly. She did nothing to defend herself from his full body bind since she already cast her shield up. But unable to concentrate cause of the giggles it quickly broke. And then came the humilation, her voice was suddenly bouncing off the walls for everyone in the classroom to hear.
"HEHEHEEHEHEHEHHEHEHEEHHEHHEEE..."
"Rictusempra!" If she was going to be laughing he was going to join her.Though she doupted he could block it blindfolded she cast another spell his way,"Langlock!". He was either gonna laugh or say nothing at all.

Alarmed, Daphne momentarily considered panicking. Luckily for her, instinct made her haphazardly bring up her wand. "Protego!" she shouted feeling the spell bounce away from her, blinking her eyes furiously. Daphne aimed her wand where she thought she heard the voice come from.
"Stupefy! FURNUNCULUS!" chanted the blond, giving speedy chase in...whatever direction. Just enough to aim her own wand at her eyes. "Finite."

No! Why?! She had been spotted! Glancing to every side for the quickest exit Allison sank at the realization she had found her partner. No exit= Staying and dueling. Not something she had any real intention of doing, but it was a class after all. Gulping she looked at the fourth year with unease, "Allison Scott. First year Ravenclaw. Guessing...we...are dueling?"
She looked at the girl's hand with mistrust...what if she already started the duel and it was all a trick to electrocute Allison, much like that Muggle prank thingie? Looking into Georgiana's eyes Allison shook hands with the girl with her other hand, after all her right hand was holding her wand to tightly to release it.
"Um...whenever you are ready." Too nervous to wait for a response a light sweat began to break on the first year's face as she walked over to an empty space in the room. Lots of things had been occurring, like Arya's giggles and Ivory running all over the place. However that was not enough of a distraction for Allison, bowing in a nervous matte Allison took a defense stance.

Georgie smiled sympathetically, the girl was obviously frightened, Georgie supposed she'd never dueled before in her life. That was depressing. But Georgie wasn't an all out amazing dueler, so the odds should've been about even. Unless she developed skills she had no idea of. Pfft, yeah right.
Hearing large giggles she looked over at Arya who was laughing hysterically, Georgie had to chuckle a little, it was sort of an amusing sight in truth. She turned back towards Allison and bowed as well, taking a defensive stance to match hers, though she kept most of her weight on her back leg, made things easier to pivot.
She nodded at the girl, apparently it was up to her to start, but she wasn't going to start with something big, the girl was a firstie for pete sakes! "Expellimous!"

By the time she knew it the girl was speaking tongues in her head and Allison was running away from the first thing being cast. Running in an 8 Allison jumped and screamed anything that popped out in her head, "MUFFLIATO!" she shrieked.
For some reason the thought that the fourth year wouldn't be able to hear any noise was somewhat of a comfort, however that was quickly erased from Allison's mind when she realized she hasn't really done anything the fourth year and the girl was about to cast something else. Not knowing where to hide Allison moved from side to side undecided as to where to run to.

Suddenly, all was silent for Georgie. The girl had cast Muffliato? Not the best choice but that was alright, at least she was trying. And truthfully, she was thankful for it, of course now it would be harder to know what Allison was going to use, but it did block out the distractions in the room, like Arya's insistent laughing. Georgie was relieved.
"Stupefy!" she yelled a few times, aiming at the two spots Allison was jumping from. Then as an after thought she cast the protego charm in front of her. She didn't have a necessarily strong Protego but it would do until she thought of her next move.

Pure luck saved the girl from getting hit and right at that moment being completely defeated and unconscious. Eyes wild Allison took three steps back and aimed at the fourth year's wand, "Locomotor wand!" Suddenly to Allison's astonishment all that happened was her spell simply slipped off. Of course that's when she realized the girl had already put up her shield. Not knowing how to do a proper one herself, Allison covered one eye with her left hand and shouted in hopes of exploded the girl's shield in ANY matter, "kon-FRING-oh!"
Then again Allison had never really used the Confringo spell, hence the pronouncing slowly. Hoping that the object that was a shield that really wasn't an object but was something solid of the sorts would explode in flames, Allison removed her hand from her eye and looked up with hope.
Raiden watched as Marie went off to do... whatever it was she was going to do. Hopefully she would keep out of the way of the other duelists. Watching until she disappeared behind some unknown older student, Raiden sighed and took to leaning against the wall again. A swift flick of his wand produced a shield, just in case anyone had that poor an aim.
The one thing the shield couldn't keep out, though, was the feeling that someone was looking at him. In that 'see how smart I am' way. He glanced to the side, frowning at the source as she looked off somewhere else.
Was class over yet? He had the sudden urge to get out of here, and it wasn't because of the spells flying back and forth.

Georgie was puzzled, she'd noticed the first spell to knock off her shield, but then there was nothing. Had their been a mispronunciation of spell? That must've been it, it was the only way. Georgie felt bad for the young girl and let the shield drop, to make the odds a little more even. It wasn't fair if Georgiana could use a shield and Allison couldn't. Of course in an actual fight fairness wasn't an issue, but for now it was practice.
Georgiana pointed her wand again towards Allison, she'd yet to move from her position, "OBSCURO!" she cried, wasn't that supposed to make her opponent unable to see? Worked for her.

Losing her luck streak Allison gasped when she felt a blind-fold over her, not really thinking, Allison stumbled and fell. Being unable to see was a horrible feeling and suddenly a weird idea occurred to her, aiming above both Georgie and herself Allison shouted with force, "ORCHIDEOUS!"
Suddenly between the two duelers a strong rain of white roses began to fall from the ceiling. (ooc: Dunno if it has ever been done but eh I say we be creative xD) Knowing that it wouldn't make a difference to her if she could see between the roses she hoped it caused a bit of chaos in the fourth year's sight. Or well she really hoped the girl was allergic to all the pollen like Sabel was. Getting on all fours Allison began to listen closely to any of the girl's movements. Standing up Allison removed her robes and threw them out of range. Standing still she listened intently and began to distinguish the difference between the soft fall of roses and the shouts of other duelers. With nothing but her wand to defend her, the eleven year old did what she knew best--ignore everything around her but the object of desire, in this case Georgiana.
Finally her scare was waring off, this would be the beginning of Allison's strong competitiveness with dueling.

Georgiana's sight was reduced to being able to see nothing but white roses. DAMMIT! Now she had no sense at all, her hearing was gone, her sight obscurred, her smell shot with the roses around, and she wasn't about to go walking around with her hand out in front of her. Allison definitely had the upper hand here.
ACHOOO!
And to make matters much much worse. She was allergic to roses, why couldn't anything but ROSES have fallen! Seriously!? Now Allison had even more of a tip of, she knew where Georgiana was. Suddenly she got an idea, "FINITE INCANTATUM!" score! She got her hearing back! But she still couldn't see.

Biting her lower lip Allison heard Georgiana cast Finite, she knew the girl would eventually do something of the sort, however she also knew that if she tried it on her eyes she would probably fail. Knowing the spell and using it were two different things. Wishing that the Professor hasn't been so evil and assigned them to older students Allison remained still and kept hearing the roses fall. Recasting Muffliato would only make the girl cast finite again and again, in an endless circle, and like that they'd never get anywhere.
And if she was dueling it was to learn, not to do the same thing. A playful grin spread across Allison's face as she heard the girl sneeze. How to make it worse? Remembering Peeves in Potions Allison mimicked what older students had done to clean up some mess, simply aiming in front of her the girl slashed the air in a wide range and used the Hot-Air charm, which is usually used to dry clothing. However hadn't the DADA homework proved that one could use the simplest spells for attacking purposes? The warm air blew strong out of her wand and it blew a large amount of raining roses towards the fourth year. Whether or not her plan worked was something Allison had to wait and listen for.
Frowning that the blind-fold was beginning to annoy her, Allison began to tug on it only to groan that it was obviously magic and that wouldn't work. Knowing she had given her location away she ran to her right--Georgie's left hoping the roses were enough of a distraction.

Georgiana swore under her breath, the sneezing HAD tipped her off, Allison used it to her advantage and sent the roses flying towards her. Smart kid. Very smart kid, but then again, she HAD said she was a Ravenclaw, usually they WERE smart. Now how to get rid of the roses? Incendio? No, she didn't want to accidentally burn Allison.
Suddenly, she could feel an attack coming on. A sneezing attack, the worst to have during the middle of duel. Curses!
ACHOO, ACHOO, ACHOO!
Thankfully, during a break, she heard the patter of footsteps to her left. Got you now little firstie. "FURNUNCULUS!" Well that didn't do much, just prove to be very very uncomfortable with all the boils.

Allison shrieked when her arm was hit with the curse. Eyes widening underneath the blind-fold she bit back her usual childish tantrum of tears, this was no time to be crying. Holding her arm Allison frowned and did the best she could to defend herself, which was...nothing really. Feeling for the floor for her recently discarded robes, Allison grabbed them and threw them in the air timing her aim with her wand while muttering "Duro." Now hardened, she spoke the first spell she had ever learned "Wingardium Leviosa!" Moving the robes in front of her in a very odd shield-like manner Allison listened again for the fourth year. Hoping that the roses kept falling on the girl, Allison grabbed the robes with her weak boily arm, and casted her signature mid-night blue butterflies, "Papilio!"
If anyone outside their duel could see Allison they'd see a small child clutching stiff looking robes in front of her with a swarm of fluttering butterflies around her. All the while the roses fell to make a beautiful scene--to those of course that weren't allergic.
Arya bent over as the giggles poured out of her. She tried to remember the spell that end her endless laughter, but she could'nt consentrate enough to think straight.
"Rictusempra!" If she was going to be laughing he was going to join her.Though she doubted he could block it blindfolded she cast another spell his way,"Langlock!". He was either gonna laugh or say nothing at all.
Kellen didn't know how she was still managing to cast, with all of those giggles coming from her mouth, but he was suddenly very glad he'd magnified her voice. Sure, there were probably several members of the class looking at them (not that he could tell), but he heard her call her spells and turned to where her voice had come from, "Protego!"
He rolled his tongue around the inside of his mouth; oh good, it wasn't stuck. But then he felt something rub against his ribs and he snickered. He jumped away from whatever it was, but the tickling only grew stronger. So he'd been hit after all.
"He-hey! That's not -ahaha - that's," his torso was folding over on itself as he tried to fend off the invisible tickling hands, but it wasn't working. Blindfolded and being tickled? The playing field had to be evened. He held his breath and listened for Arya's amplified giggles, and as soon as he found the direction he released the air held in his lungs, "Tarantallegra!"
Holding his laughter in as much as he could, he sent a 'jelly-fingers jinx' in the direction of Arya's giggles.
If she can't hold her wand, she can't duel. That was the last serious thought he had before he dissolved into a fit of laughter.
Georgie swatted at the butterflies now flying around her, they were pretty yes, but incredibly bothersome at a time like this! URGHH! She sneezed again, she still had those dumb roses in the way! Never again would she be able to look at roses again, and she sincerely hoped Barry never attempted to bring her any. She would not be able to be held accountable for her actions if he did.
Georgie bit her lip to keep from laughing, they probably looked so funny with all this stuff around her, she wouldn't be surprised if she and Allison had to stay late cleaning up their mess. But now was not the time to think about that.
Suddenly, a thought came to her, why hadn't she thought of it when Allison used the spell AGAINST her!? She fired back with the hot air charm, blowing the flowers away from her and against the back wall. She couldn't interfere with the other duels!
Once her view was cleared and could see again, she noticed Allison had conducted a shield of sorts for herself.Again Georgie couldn't help but marvel at how bright the young girl was. Oh well! Aww, and the girl was crying! Georgie felt terrible now. She snapped her fingers, "Rictusempra!"

Seeing that her tickling spell had hit Kellen she bent over in laughter, feeling a spell wosh over her head, barely missing her.
"Hehehehe-not wha-hehehe-what-hehehe?"
Kellen's atempts to fend off the invisible fingers was so hilarious to Arya that she had forgotten about the second spell shot at her. Suddenly her wand was on the ground, and her fingers were like jelly. Giggling she knelt on the ground trying unsuccessful to atempt to retreve her wand. The pair was a sight to see.

Surprised to feel the warm air blow around her, Allison heard the roses hit the back wall and frowned. Although the roses had hit the wall many of them were still laying around on the floor, and the amount of roses that were still raining slightly diminished. Knowing that at least for a few moments she was visible Allison braced herself for whatever was casted her way. Hearing the girl cast the tickling spell she shook her head in denial and threw herself towards the floor. She would not, in any circumstances laugh her head off like Arya was still doing. Unconsciously rolling on the floor Allison stood up with her shield and listened for any movement.
Not hearing anything, she thought that perhaps Georgiana was thinking as to what to do next. Feeling the new batch of roses hit her shoulders Allison also felt the flutter of her butterflies that had returned to her side after the air had blown them away. Not knowing what else to do she did what was only obvious to her young brain. Use everything around her. "Oppungo!"
With sudden fury the butterflies flew towards the fourth year to attack. Digging in her brain for any way to get rid of the blind-fold Allison readied her next move.

Kay turned when she heard the laugher. Watching Arya laugh, she couldn't help eb laugh a little herself. What had she been hit with. Kay sat down and wanted to see what happened next. "GET HIM ARYA." Kay cheered. Then Kay saw the second hex hit her. 'oh, maybe not.' She thought.

Georgiana yelped seeing the butterflies coming at her. She knew she said she wouldn't but she muttered, "Protego!" and the shield returned to her once again, as the butterflies hit and and vanished. She felt bad, they had been pretty too!
Dropping the shield Georgie grinned, if that was the way Allison wanted to play, then so be it! "AVIS!" A small flock of birds proceded to attack Allison.

Suddenly a light bulb turned on and Allison knew a spell she could use to get rid of the blind-fold, but it would cost her time for her to do it, and if it didn't work she would leave herself open for the attack that...FOR THE ATTACK THAT GEORGIE HAS JUST SENT HER WAY. Hearing the flap of wings Allison moved her wand and her remaining butterflies flew to intercept the birds, however Georgiana's magic was much more powerful than Allison's and immediately several of the butterflies sent banished. Suspecting as much Allison raised her stiff-robe shield and felt the birds hit instantly. Hearing them chirp through the robes--for their beaks were like little needles and they were the only things that went through the extremely hard robes, Allison aimed the wand at her face and sent Merlin a quick prayer that it would work, "Diffindo!"
Much to her own surprise the blind-fold ripped and fell off her face. The sight that was their dueling field was a sight. Both Georgiana and Allison were covered with petals, the entire floor had white roses of all sizes, and a mountain of roses had collected where Georgiana had previously blown them against the wall. Narrowing her eyes Allison turned to her robes and couldn't help but start laughing, the small birds were caught in her robes and chirping for release. Tapping each bird they poof'd and disappeared. Taking once more a defense stance Allison waited while trying to erase the grin on her face.

Maybe taking the girl unawares would be a good start? She felt awful about having to do it, though. The kid seemed really nice, and here was Professor Duskurk wanting them to try and stun each other.Wrong, just wrong. But unless Sarah wanted detention...or worse...she had to try.Flinging her arm out in front of her, in what she was sure wasn't the right motion, she said the first spell that came into her head. "Impedimenta!"
Keeley smiled, pushing her rather colorful headband aside. Maybe she could trust this girl. She seems really nice, why would she want to hurt me anyway? And she bowed. Having never dueled before, she didn't know whether or not to follow, but it seemed polite to do also. Which Keeley did. "Good. I'm great at Transfiguration, but I'm rubbish at hurting people. I-" And then the jet of red light. Crap. Why did she trust so easily? But after that, the spell hit the small girl hard, and knocked her right to the ground and out cold. And to make things better, she wacked her head on the floor. HARD. Just peachy. Hopefully there would be no blood.
