Dueling Defense Technique Professor Duskurk stepped into his classroom and banished the desks and chairs. It was standing room only for this class... NOTE: For those just joining us, please go to the OOC thread in the classroom and find a dueling partner. Then, you may come back here and practice dueling. UPDATE: Lesson has ended. Homework is as follows and will be due one week from the date of this post. Quote:

Tiberius entered the classroom hesitantly. Sure, he needed to be here. But all the same, the professor gave him the creeps and he wondered just how extreme this lesson could get. Noting the lack of desks and chairs, he went to stand close enough to see even if taller students got in his way, but far enough that he wasn't right next to the man. "Good day, Professor," Tiberius said politely with a nod in the man's direction. |
Poking his head inside the door, Jake cleared his throat nervously. Ecchhh, no seating. Epic fail right off the mark. Wasn't too late to leave, was it? Jake didn't want to be left alone with... him. No wait... Tibi was there... Jake'd be fine. So he went in and stood by his best friend. |
Arya slowly walked into the classroom, hesitant to enter. Ever since the last class she was dreading the next lesson, but she refused to be scared off my the old man. She looked around and saw no desk nor chairs, just the professor. She let out a deep breath she didn't know she was holding in, and walked to the middle of the classroom. "Hello Professor."She felt it would be rude not to address the professor, and she didn't want get on his bad side...the man was crazy after all. Seeing the other students Arya went and stood by Jake and the Ravenclaw, smiling at them both. |
Ivory timidly set foot, one small step at a time, into the classroom. Hunching her small frame, she was trying to make her body mass as small as she could. Calling as little attention to herself as possible; or so she hoped. As it was, the result was a ridicules waddle that looked as if the small girl was bracing herself against a hard wind and still sneaking in the process. It would have caused even the toughest person to stifle a chuckle or at least a smirk. Nevertheless, ridicules or not, Ivory inched forward, venturing into the one room, alright well to be perfectly honest one of the rooms, rooms plural, that she was scared to enter. No it was not because the professor had been rumored and had proved to be a well, quite intimidating man; Nor was it because it was a creepy room with no desks or chairs. No, it was because she was a first year and had thus shy and that was pretty much it. Nervously, she glanced at the Professor deciding he didn't seem all that bad. Not as bad as the last lesson. Well she never had introduced herself... "Hello, Professor. It's a ... pleasure to meet you. I didn't get a chance to introduce myself earlier I'm Ivory Vitya Erised." Extending a small hand she wondered whether he'd shake it. |
Reese was a little skeptical about attending this class, but she was Prefect after all and did need to attend this class even IF she was scared about encountering spiders again. Not even stopping at the door to let her nerves settle, she quickly entered the room to notice that there wasn't one desk in site. Where did the desks goooo? "Good evening, Professor," she greeted the man as she stood near the side of the classroom. |
Sidney walks into the classroom. Tib was there with that boy. Here we go again. I'd pinch myself, but I doubt it's a nightmare. "Hello, Tib isn't it?" Sid looks around. No desk and no mysterious objects hidden by black curtains. I guess we aren't torturing spiders today. Thank heavens. "Hello Professor Duskurk, how are you doing?" Good manners are important no matter how cold and distant the professor is. |
Kellen walked into class and looked around the room. No seating? He found a spot against the wall with some of the other students and waited. Duskurk might be a little unstable in the balcony, but he certainly taught provocative lessons. So students kept coming back. |
After last class, Destiny was not sure she wanted to attend another DADA class..ever! The professor gave her the creeps and what her taught gave her bigger creeps. She should have just run away when she entered the classroom, and noticed the professor just standing there. He already seen here, and he would catch her if she tried to run. The lack of chairs and desks did not help much either. That meant they were going to be practicing spells. 'Hello, Professor.' she tried to give him a smile, but failed miserably at it. She would just stand far away from him. That would be smart. |
So, Evelyn was practically skipping her way to the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom, a small smile on her face as she stared at the ground. This teacher...Professor Duckfeet or whatever his name was, was definitely something else. But it was a good thing! Just as long as there weren't any more spiders in his classroom or within a range of fifty feet of her. Though she did compose herself and wore an emotionless expression as she walked into the classroom, noting the lack of chairs and desks. Raising a brow, she shifted her bag to her other shoulder, looking around. "Good evening, Professor." she said, still looking around though deciding it was a good thing to not question what was going on. He would probably tell them soon enough... though it totally beat last years DADA classes so far. |
Hmmm did not want to be late for this class. It seemed like this professor wouldn't appreciate such things. Hm. "Hello Professor Duskurk, sir." Raiden inclined his head slightly before... going over to stand near Kellen. Since there were no desks in here right now... Odd. |
Just like he had for Potions, Ian made sure that his uniform was clean, his tie NOT crooked and his shoe laces tied. He had also taken a shower and washed his hair with Kellen's shampoo (without asking, but don't tell) and everything, since the boy had the feeling Duskurk didn't appreciate messy dressers. Nodding his head at the professor as a sign of greeting, McKensie shuffled inside the classroom and went to stand next to Kellen and Raiden Kururugi. |
Dylan nervously approached the class. He didn't want to be here, but Lawson had suggested it. So here he was. There were no chairs to sit on. This was going to be a very long class. He sighed and stood near Jake and Tibi. They were friendly. Ish. |
Torin had no idea why he was attending this class when the Professor was 10x worse than Kazi. Yet here he was looking around the room and wondering where the desks and chairs where. Shrugging, he made his way over to Reese and stood beside her. He gave her an awkward smile, not sure if she was still mad at him or not. |
Kiri followed Reese into the room, wondering what the creepy professor had planned for this lesson. After the last one, she would expect a demonstration of the second Unforgivable curse, but she'd heard rumours that the new headmaster (whoever he was) had not been happy with that. There were no tables. And no chairs. Kiri badly wanted to sit down - her cold was in full swing. For the past two days, she'd walked everywhere sniffling and sneezing, her bag full of tissues - new in the mornings, increasingly used as the day progressed - if it just had been that, she probably would have been happy, but in addition to a snot-filled nose she'd acquired a pain-filled head as well... The steady pounding in her temples made thinking difficult. Her back hurt, too. "Good evening, Professor," she said, a little indistinctly, dropping her bag to her feet. |
Becca walked into class to find that the desks/chairs had been removed. "Hello Professor, having a nice day?" And then, standing around with a bunch of other students, she leaned back against the wall and hummed to herself. |
Nicoletta walked in and nodded her head in the professor's direction. "Hello Professor." she walked towards an empty spot in the room and stood there, seeing as there were no desks or chairs. If he's gonna have us kill each other, she thought remembering the last lesson. I am SO leaving! Nicoletta was not a killer, no-siree-bob. |
Whatever was due to happen in this class, Cela thought she was ready for it. She had her wand of course, in her manticore hide wrist holster, and... well she had herself and a notebook of course. The notebook was tucked into a pocket of her robes along with a quill. She bowed her head a little in acknowledgment of Professor Duskurk, but she didn't say anything. He really seemed the type that preferred students to be seen and not heard unless he addressed them first of course. She found a spot where she could see everything clearly and waited for class to start. |
All happy mental images of Marry Poppins gone, Allison stepped into the classroom and quickly noticed that there were no longer any seats available. Not knowing where to stand she decided away from her friends would probably be best. After all distractions were a huge no no in this classroom. Stepping towards the opposite side of the classroom from Arya and Ivory, Allison bit her bottom lip and decided against it. The last thing she needed was to get a great scare and have no one to rely on. Choosing friendship over academics for once in her life, the young girl ran next to her friends and practically hid behind them. In the near distance she spotted a boy who she didn't recognize at all. He seemed older, yet extremely familiar. Click. MERLIN'S BEARD IT WAS A CLEAN IAN! Covering her mouth to stop the giggling and bully retort wanting to slip off her tongue, Allison looked down at her shoes and waited for Professor Duskurk to speak. |
Her entrance had been quiet. Daphne wasn't feeling much up to conversation or small talk. It explained why she was standing just a bit away from the boys. She did manage a small smile in their direction, so they wouldn't think she had forgotten them. Surely, they had sensitive manly egos or something and wouldn't appreciate being abandoned by her. Maybe. Perhaps. |
Aaron walked into the room, suprised that there were no chairs or desks. He walked by the professor and said, "Good day, Professor" before joining the rest of the students standing around. He sighed and looked around, not really seeing anyone familiar. |
Daniel was ready for anything. He got his hip holster and sighed as her entered the Defense Against the Dark Arts classroom and he was startled. No chairs. No desks. All standing. Well he must be vigilant. |
Melanie trudged into the classroom, averting her eyes from the professor as she entered. The girl proceeded to walk over to the corner of the classroom furthest away from Professor Duskurk... He still freaked her out a bit... Just a bit. Frowning at the absence of desks, Melanie leaned against the wall, tapping her foot nervously as she waited for the lesson to commence. She was determined to do her best at whatever the professor threw at them today. As long as it wasn't illegal, she'd try. Speaking of what they were doing... Melanie was rather curious as to just what it would be. She couldn't help but wonder what they'd be attempting that could require so much space. Hmm. |
He ignored most of the students. "Mr. Pryce, Miss Toussaint, please come and stand beside me here," Professor Duskurk said and waited a few more moments for the stragglers. Tate probably wouldn't like for him to hex any late comers. |

Neptune Bott wandered into this class not to duel, but to visit with Professor Durskurk. Humming and happy, she skipped over to him and stood quietly at his side. Having learned that GIGGLING was not the way to go, she just stood there quietly and occasionally glanced up at him. Hum Hum Hum. Happy to be here! La la la. |
