Divination Lesson 3 - The Rising Sign Antonio rushed into the classroom, appearing exhausted and somewhat under stress. He wondered whether anyone would notice this, and hoped they would not. He immediately set to work, setting out textbooks at the front of the room as he had done for previous lessons. He had decided not to tell the students that he had made a decision not to return to Hogwarts as a professor next year, opting instead to return to his homeland of Hollian, and that his daughter Antonia would be attending as a student here next term. That was the main reason he had decided not to return, to avoid any controversy. But all of that was irrelevant, he was here to finish this final lesson here today and that was what mattered at this point. "All right, students, please pick up a copy of the textbook as well as the calculator and we'll get started soon," he promised. Rex showed up waiting for the class. He likes it. Very interesting class. |
As Jack entered the Divination classroom, he was surprised to see how empty it was. Maybe everyone was busying studying for OWLs and NEWTs and forgot to look at the clock? At least the only other person in there was a Gryffie--more points for them! Hehe. "Hey Rex!" Jack said with a smile as he sat near the back where he usually sat. "And Hello Professor Dumont!" he said, turning to his former head of house and smiling up at him as well. |
Marie slowly walked into the classroom not really wanting to be inside. The weather had gotten warmer and she just wanted to be outside. For now though she would suffer through another class, then head outside. "Hello Professor, how are you today?" she asked as she went to the front of the room to grab a book and a calculator. She then went to sit in the back of the room to wait for class to begin. |
Bella walked into the classroom, this was her favourite class, but she still felt it was a very interesting class. Therefore she liked it. She smiled as she took a seat and flicked through the text book. "Hey Professor" She said, smiling, looking up. |

Arya strolled into the class with a smile on her face. For some odd reason she was particularly good mood, more so than other days. Picking up a text book and calculator before taking her seat she began to flip through the book, but not before giving the professor a smile. "Hello Professor." |
Antonio smiled and greeted each student as they entered the class. "Good morning Jack, Marie, Bella, Rex and Arya," he said. "We're just going to give a little more time for people to show up and then we'll go ahead and get started. I hope you are all interested in finding out even more about your personal horoscope today!" |
"Hello Professor." Carter said grabbing a book and calculator. He looked around the classroom for a place to sit. Spotting Marie he made his way over and helped himself to the seat next to her. Since their recent adventures the two had gotten pretty close. |

Finally, she made it to the classroom. She really hated walking all the way up to the seventh floor for this class. Sighing just outside the door, Evelyn walked in and took a seat in the back, close to where Marie and...Carter...were. Well, there was no way she was sitting close to Kay and Rex, that's for sure... Taking out her notebook, she smiled slightly at the Professor before moving her gaze back to her bag, taking out her quill and ink, and just...relaxing. Maybe she could close her eyes for a few moments before the class started. Wait, she wasn't late was she? |
Almost silently moving into the classroom in her flats, Adrienne too a breath as even here seemed a bit off. Things had seemed weird ever since the incident in the common room, and she was hoping that at least her favorite classes would feel normal. But obviously that wasn't the case, although she couldn't tell if it was what was going on at the school or something else haunting Professor Dumont's class. "Good morning, Professor Dumont," she said to the professor with a smile, trying to force herself to stay relaxed. It was Divination, she should be fine. Picking up the textbook and calculator, though, she couldn't help but wonder if she was going to be joined in this class or not, since she still thought Phoebus was trying to keep an eye on her. Which was difficult considering she was supposed to be helping the prefects and everything. Not to mention Quidditch. Making her way to an empty desk, she nodded at Jack in greeting before sitting down to flip through the textbook. |
Nicoletta walked into class shaking slightly. Everything was still a bit wobbly to her and she felt like she might puke again. She really didn't want to talk but remembered the fact that she was leaving for Russia and not coming back at the end of the year. "Hhhhello ppproffffessor." she moaned. Oh yeah, class was not going to be fun. Well, at least she wasn't contagious. Suffering from panic attacks is more of a personal issue. Nicoletta picked up a book and a calculator and sat down. |
Emily walked into class her head hung, mumbling to herself. Her head was swimming with all of the mysteries but she would never give up a divination class. Emily wondered if her cousin, possibly her sister, liked divination. Did they even teach divination at Beauxbatons? Who knew but her cousin, it was so weird calling her that, Emily hadn't known of any wizards in her fathers side of the family. She had also recently figured out in her mind that her father was a wizard and was hiding the fact from her mother and her, she had sent a note to him asking him why but she hadn't received a response yet. She figured that she had startled him with that letter. Emily realized she was just standing in the middle of class mumbling to herself so she snapped out of it and grabbed her materials from the front of the glass and sat down at a desk in front of Rex and Kay. EMily turned around in her seat "Hey Rex, Hey Kay." EMmily said, then turned around again in her seat and said "Good day Professor Dumont." Quote:
Emily then opened her textbook to a random page, stared at t and continued her mumbling. |
Ugh! She had ripped her schoolbag on a nail sticking out of a jagged wall - did people not know how to cast a sticking charm? - and that had nearly made her late. Gold had rushed half the way to class, only slowing down less than ten feet away from the door. She entered now, adjusted her 'ugh' sort of expression into a more cheerful one, and spotted Professor Dumont. "Good day, sir," she said politely, as she scanned the classroom for a vacant, corner seat. Oh, look! There it was. |

Clearing her throat, she scooted her chair a tiny bit towards Marie's and Carter's table before giving them a small smile and turning back to her textbook. That was as close as she was getting now. |

"Hello to all of you," Antonio greeted the rest of the students. "I guess we will go ahead and get started with the lesson. First of all, how many of you know what the Rising Sign represents in your horoscope?" |
The rising sign...rising sign...ris- "Doesn't it represent like...the mask one wears when you're out and about doing new things and meeting with people? Kinda like the act one puts on when they don't want people to know what they are really feeling or something. It's just...our natural reaction in situations." Unless she totally had that wrong. Perhaps she should read the material again since she barely had skimmed over it before the Professor had started speaking. |
Herminny instantly raised her hand responded, "The rising sign represents how we react around others and how we cope with the daily issues of life.". |
Gold raised a hand. "The gateway to our personality, sir," she said, politely. "It's also called the Ascendant - because it's the zodiacal sign and degree that was ascending on the eastern horizon at the specific time and location of one's birth. Andd ... it represents how you present yourself in society, is a shield or mask to your real nature. How you react in public, and to impersonal situations." That was a complete answer, right? Right. |
Jack flipped through his textbook and finally raised his hand. Rising sun, sun, moon--he was going to get all these horoscopes confused on his NEWTs! EEP! "Isn't it like, your first impression? I believe it shows you what people see when they first met you, and how you appear to others." he explained. |
Candy WAVED her hand in the air. "Professah!" She was all HAPPY to know the answer a bit. "Some astrologers call it the 'defense machenism' because it represents how you react to situations and in public." YAYY!! "And it basically tells of your outlook and what you behave laiik around others!" |
