Oh good the spider was gone.

She could have sworn she saw fangs or something on that little creature thing. Hissing and barking at her and spitting venom! Pure EVIL!

But still, she was not quite ready to go back over to the class. It was peaceful over where she was since no one was around, and she didn't feel like being social at the moment. The thestral she was sitting on was good enough company.

Speaking of the thestral, she smiled down at it, rubbing it's neck for a moment. Perhaps she could keep it!! Hmm, didn't someone ask about that already though? Her mind must have been somewhere else since she couldn't remember. Like it always was...

Perhaps Destiny could come over though. She wouldn't mind the Slytherin, or Josh, but anyone else right now was toootttaaaalllly not welcome. And maybe Marie is welcome too, but other then that, NOPE! When was class over anyways?

"Not fine. But feeling alot better," Dylan smiled. He turned his head to look at her. He gave her a smile, and opened his eyes. She was still beautiful, even from this angle. He could see something was up. "Go on. The thestral is waiting for you. I wouldn't want it to get picked on by the other thestrals, for not having someone riding it." He'd rather she was riding the horse, than pining while looking after him.

She was happy in the air anyway.

Carter smiled a bit as Marie held on tighter. "Alright. Here we go." he said. The thestral they were riding took a few steps before going up into the air. With a powerful flap of its wings the covered a good amount of space hovering a few feet in the air.

"Still doing fine?" he called behind him. He put his hand on her hand just to make sure she was still holding tight. He then moved his hand back to the thestral's neck.

Marie held her breath when Carter said Here we go. She really didn't know what to expect at all, especially since she wasn't the one in control of what they were doing. Once they were in the air she let her breath out and started to breathe again. It wasn't as bad as she thought it would be. Actually it wasn't bad at all.

When Carter grabbed her hand she couldn't help but smile and tighten her hold on him just a little. "Yeah, I'm doing good," she said. How could she not be doing good with him there to make her feel safe. "We can go higher and faster if you want, I'm not scared now."

Carter nodded. He was glad she wasn't scared anymore. He really wanted to see how fast these things could go. With a pat the thestral flapped its wings again. They were now flying much faster. It was so much different than a broom because he could feel the muscles and the wings of the animal below them. He closed his eyes and savored the feeling for a moment. He loved flying.

"Not too high now." he said. "We're not supposed to go over 10 feet." he said petting his little thestral friend.

"So how does it feel to be flying and not being able to see why?" he asked her.

Marie could feel the excitement build as they started going faster. She didn't know if the excitement was from how fast they were going or because she was holding onto Carter. Even though she wasn't scared she didn't want to let go, she liked holding him....It just felt like the right thing to do.

Smiling she said, "I can see why I'm flying, it's because I'm holding onto you." She then gave him a tight squeeze. Yeah she wasn't even thinking about not being able to see the thestral right now. "So you think we can go any faster?" Speed would be good, that would give her a reason to keep holding on to him....Right?

Picked on? Awww, that was just too cute! "It won't," Gold said, with half a smile. She would have stayed here, even if it had not been him, but another student - it was sort of her duty, and she really could not leave a person she suspected was not feeling the best, alone. Not like this. But the fact that it was Dylan made it even SURER that she did not want to leave. She did, however, have a little task to do.

"I'm going to help Candy on to a thestral," she told Dylan gently. "I'll be back, okay?" Yes, he was better, but she was NOT letting him be on his own, until he was absolutely fine. Absolutely!

She rose to her feet, straightened up, re-arranged her hair a bit, and stepped up to the waiting Candy. "Ready to fly?" she asked brightly, fully aware that Candy would be super-excited for this. "Come here. Place your left leg over here --" She winded off into more instructions. Her mind was still on Dylan, though. She couldn't help it.

....

Not one bit.

Carter blushed a bit when she said she was flying because she was with him. Something did feel very comfortable about this situation. But at the same time...

He cleared his throat.
"So... ermm... how's Evan?" he asked turning away from her.

He stared out in front of him as they went a bit faster.

Marie was really having fun flying with Carter. The faster they went the tighter she held onto him.

Then it happened...He asked her about Evan. Her smile suddenly disappeared as reality sunk in. What was she doing holding onto Carter and flirting thinking the way she was. She had a boyfriend, she shouldn't be acting this way. She loosened her grip on him to the point where she almost wasn't holding on at all, then she sat back so she wasn't leaning on him anymore. Yes, that's how she should have been sitting the whole time.

"I don't know how he's doing, I haven't seen him since we were in the Entrance Hall together. You know, the day I introduced him to you." she said suddenly realizing just how much she really was missing him. There was no more happiness in her voice, only sadness now. "I didn't really get much of a chance to talk to him either thanks to Violet getting us drug off to the RoR with Kazi." Yeah, that was a fun day. It may not have been an official detention but it sure felt like one. And thanks to that brat Violet she missed spending time with Evan.

OOOH!

Candy had been getting so tired of WAITING!

"YUSH!" She said HAPPILY when Gold asked if she was ready. She let the prefectttt help her and soon she was on the thestral and CLINGING to it. YAYY!! This was going to be SUCH fun!

"Am I ready to FLYY, Gold?" she asked.

She was so HAPPY!

"It will. But if you ride it, it will be the most popular," Dylan smiled, "Because it will have had the most beautiful girl in the world riding it." Yep yep. She was the most beautiful. Ever.

"Go ahead," he smiled, "You get on one. I am going to sit here and make sure Professor Lawson is ok. She doesn't look too good."

Gold had to grin.

"Why, yes you are," she said, reaching up to stroke the pretty thestral. Pretty in its own way, of course. The creature let her and, half a second later, she had stepped away.

"Good luck with the flight, Shiny!" She waved to Candy, and turned away, to head back to Dylan.

Aww. "Flatterer," Gold grinned, as she sat down next to him, hugged her knees close to her chest, and watched Candy take flight. "I will get on one, don't worry. Just let me sit here for five minutes, and watch everyone race and stuff. It's such a unique sight."

It truly was.

Dylan smiled, "It's true though." He rested his head on her shoulder. "Thank you for trying to make me fly. And for looking after me." He wrapped an arm around her waist. "I can just see people sitting oddly in the air. It is a weird experience." It really was. "So...who did you see die?" he asked. He wanted to know, since it was an awful thing.

Now that Gold thought of it, she had to say that it must look rather odd. Fantastic, too. People, that high in the air, with no support that the eye could see. How... magical?

But then, magic was the norm, for her.

She looked up, rather suddenly, at his question. "Couple of people," she said, evasively. "That thestral looks lonely, doesn't it? I think I'll go ride it." She rose to her feet, rather quickly. He did look plenty fine, now. He could do without her, for ten minutes.

WHOOOAA!!!

She was only five feet in the air but Candy felt AWESOME! This was such FUNN! ANDD there was a nice breeze here! Candy urged her thestral forward ---- okay so she didn't! It was a NIIICCCE thestral and let her fly at total ease -- and peeky-PEEKED down below.

Ten feet!

"Raceee mee?!!" she called out to Gold, as she passed the prefect. This was GREAT! Realllyyyyyy! YIIPPPIE YYYAYY!!

Dylan frowned. Why was she avoiding his question? "My grandmother died of a heart attack. Last year," he said, looking at the floor. He missed her like crazy. And she was gone. "I was too late to say goodbye. She was gone before I had chance to." He had been like a minute too late. If only he had run faster.

He had told her who he had lost. Maybe she would tell him now. Well maybe after she had flown. "Go on. He does look lonely." And there he was. Left on the floor.

He would go find Professor Lawson. Check she was ok.

Gold's eyes flickered. "I'm sorry." She reached out to touch his shoulder, then rose to her feet. She hated the topic of death. Not because she feared it; but because it brought back memories that she did not wish to delve in, not now, and not later.

"Sure," she called back to Candy, who had already flown away. With a little shrug, the fifth year chose a vacant thestral, stroked its neck, and climbed on to its back. "Candy?" The first year was close by, and Gold hoped she would hear her, despite the whoosh of the wind that must be in her ears. "On the count of three, then?"

She wanted Dylan.

Carter felt Marie pull away as soon as Evan was mentioned. That must have been pretty hard for her. He knew that he felt the same way when he hadn't run into Marilyn in awhile. But it probably wasn't the best idea to mention that. Since they both knew the reason why she wasn't around.

"I'm sorry..." he finally said. He wasn't sure what else there was to say. He had only met the guy once. He seemed nice enough though.

Marie was still thinking about Evan when Carter said he was sorry. Hearing his voice startled her causing her to lose her balance.....sliding off the thestral she quickly grabbed back onto Carter and pulled herself up.

"Umm maybe I better still hold on. I'm not ready to go falling to the ground just yet." She put her arms back around him only this time she made sure she wasn't sitting too close to him or holding him as tight as she was before. She really did like flying and didn't want to stop just yet.

Candy GRINNNEDD at Gold.

"Yessss!"

One. Two. THREEE!!! And she was OFFF. Okay she had already been in the air but now she was OFFICIALLY racing Gold. Candy felt NIIIICE on the inside and she let the wind blow her hair all about.

"I like you," she told the thestral HAPPILY. She wanted to shout "Ahoy thestral AHOYY!!" but didn't because hadn't the professor said thestrals didn't like noise? She didn't want to scare her horsie!!

Even as she watched Candy spring into action, Thestral and all, Gold had to chuckle. Candy was so hyper, it was almost good to see. The fifth year stroked her own Thestral, both softly and gently, then whispered into its ear. Such a pretty creature, really.

... and then she was in the air, too; and the wind was whipping red hair into her eyes. Gold took one hand off the Thestral, to magick her hair into a quick ponytail, then raced to catch up with Candy, who was already a good way ahead. Good day, rawrr!

Professor Lawson was having the grandest time watching the students embrace the opportunity to ride and fly the thestrals. She had feared that the majority of students would be afraid or nervous of "not being able to see" what they were riding, but even some of those children threw caution to the wind and jumped on.

Seeing the sun begin it's descent into the trees, Iliana clapped her hands together to get everyone's attention. "Alright class, let's bring them in," she announced.

Regardless of the uncomfortableness of standing while incredibly pregnant, it had been a GREAT class and she was full of smiles that afternoon.

OOOOOOHHH!!

Candy was FLYIING! She urged her thestral forward then POUTED as Gold managed to get ahead of her. But the thing was she was enjoying herself and this felt awesome. REALLY awesome.

The wind was in her ears, whistling and loud and generally lovely and Candy wanted this feeling to laaassttt -------

---- and then she had lost her balance and she was trying to land her thestral and the two of them landed, an inch away from the finishing line. Candy rolled off and fell on to the charmed grass and POUTED.

Then she sat up and BEAMED at Gold.

"That was SUCH FUNNN Goldiiieee!!"

YAYYY!!

Expert flier that she was, it did not take Gold long to get ahead of Candy. Her Thestral was quiet, but it was also rather fiesty, and she stroked its neck, once, as they moved through the air. The finish line was up ahead, less than one foot away...

... Which was when Candy decided to fall off.

Okay, not decided. Gold shook her head, as she came to a smooth landing, jumped off her Thestral, and quickly helped Candy to her feet. "It was," she said, with half a smile. Shiny was such an enthusiastic person. "Come on, let's round up our Thestrals, now."

She stroked her own, and had no difficulty in taking it back to the paddock. Once that was done, she turned to smile at Professor Lawson. Professor Mrs. Lawson, that is. "Professor -" Her voice was quiet. "I loved this lesson." Despite all the memories it brought back.

Memories she didn't want to have to think of.

Ever.

"Yeah.. I wouldn't want you falling off." Carter said. He would not like that one bit. But... it looks like she wouldn't get a chance to fall of anyway. Professor Lawson was calling the end of class.

"Looks like we're done." he said to Marie as he brought the thestral in for a landing.
