Imagine volunteering to get STUNG!

Jake was like... well... no, that was ridiculous. Fair enough if the creature wanted to sting him... but he didn't have hold of one yet.

The boy had been chewing on his thumbnail when LawsonMan had acted like a total lunatic and watched, with a degree of sadness, as the man mentioned walking away. "Bye," he said quietly, even though he hadn't been addressed.

Jake didn't like being in his bad books.

Anyway, class... yes.

Jake couldn't get stung (nor did he want to) but he could sure watch the different demonstrations. And, you know, distract himself.

Heck. no.

Morgan Lawson was CRAZY if she thought she was going to get him to do that. He wasn't TOO scared of the side effects of the sting--he knew he'd be able to handle a little bit of laughter, but the whole floating thing creeped him out a bit. It would just be weird to float in the air without a broom beneath him.

No, he was scared of the actual STING. He remembered when he had been stung by SIX bees all at once when he was younger because Justin had accidentally pushed him into a bee hive, and ever since then, he had been traumatized. He was terrifed of anything with a stinger on its bum, and that included billywigs.

He was quite content to sit here and watch his peers float up in the air, thank you very much.

Carter watched as volunteers got ready to be stung. He wondered what it would feel like to levitate.

Kay stood and walked up to the Professor. "OK, Professor." She looked at her little billywig and smiled. "Your not going to hurt me are you?" Kay asked it with a little smile. "Porfessor Lawson, will it hurt much?" She asked looking up at the Professor. She could wait to see what it felt like to be air born without a broom.

Cradling the small Billywig immobilized in her hands, Ivory walked towards the tank and Professor Morgan Lawson.

Well in all honestly, she didn't really walk. that would imply something normal...no this was an excited skip a skiddadle of sorts, one bespoke of eagerness.

she was going to fly well float...without a broom!

Sylvia leaned back and folded her arms. This was going to be very good. She smiled to herself, she definitely did not want to get a Billywig sting. Hehehe.

OK it was official.
Professor Lawson, of the MR variety, was extremely lovely, funny and a great teacher.But he was now offically nuts too.Why on earth would anyone volunteer to be stung? It hurt like heck afterwards, certainly in Sarah's experiance of wasp stings.Maybe billywig stings were different? It appeared to be so when Lawson went flying in the air laughing his head off. Well, he doesn't look too hurt, she thought, watching him bob around giggling like a girl.A little less manly maybe....

Hang on.Lawson (MRS) was asking them if they wanted a go? Sarah let out an involuntary "Haha" as the question sunk in.Would she like to be stung and float above the ground, giggling? Hmmmm.She looked down at the still frozen billywig in her hand and sighed.It didn't look that mean and nasty, maybe it didn't hurt? She was about to offer when, to her surprise, half the class volunteered first. "Oh," she started, oddly deflated. "I was going to volunteer Professor, but you seem to have enough people already...."

Annie's eyes lit up watching the proffessor float. She hurried to try and get to there first, but when she saw how excited the other students were aswel, she decided to let them past first. Afterall, She'd still get to have a go whether she was first or last.

Did Destiny...not see....

Oh boy...

Sighing and shaking her head in disappointed, which soon turned to amusement, she raised a brow at her friend and just, stared. Oh, how she loved her friend, but sometimes...it was just too much.

Chuckling, she moved the sleeve of her shirt so she was holding it closed so the billywig didn't fall, and so at an angle where she wouldn't get stung.

Oh great, she had to stay behind to find a stupid bug that was stuck in her sleeve. "Alright, Professor." she said sweetly, turning back to Professor Morgan. Maybe she was going a little overboard with the niceness, seeing as how she reacted last year when she was alone with...

"Thank you." she forced out, now realizing that she had to stay behind in class with Professor. And no one else. Maybe Destiny would stay behind too? And Josh...and Marie...and that weird kid over there too...

Snapping out of her thoughts of pain and suffering she'll have to endure after class, Evelyn turned slowly at the sound of Josh's voice. Aw! He was so sweet!

Not being able to help it, she smiled, and with a giggle, took the frozen blue bug from him. "Thank you." she whispered, moving closer to his side, but still leaving a good distance...pssh, they were in class after all. And she was still paranoid about the random person following her. If only she could spot him...or her.

Dani laughed hysterically at Professor Lawson(male). He had turned into one of those guys. She found it hilarious. Her laughter refused to subside so she turned to the side and tried to hide it. And then he left. She turned her attention back to the lesson, but random giggles continued to randomly sneak out.

Ready to begin, Iliana drew out her wand and tapped the lid of the aquarium, making it possible to drop the returning billywigs back inside without worrying about others escaping. She turned towards her volunteers and spread them out in a semi-circle type formation. It just wouldn't do to have them bumping into one another.

That done, she approached each of them in turn, prepared to answer any questions (or calm any fears) that they might have.
Ah-ha! First victim, she thought, tapping her wand on Nicoletta's billywig. "Ready?" she asked giving her a genuine smile. She was sure that it wouldn't be all that bad but had no idea how to convey that to the more trepidatious ones.

"Your turn, Gold," she said. *tap*
"Now Arya," she said, giving her a little curtsy. *tap*
"Awesome Dylan," she said, a little shocked to see him up there. *tap*
"That depends, honey," she said. Iliana had a high pain threshold so she couldn't rightly say. "It doesn't hurt me," she answered, honestly. "Just try to relax." *tap*
"I can TELL you're ready, Ivy," she said with a chuckle. "Have fun!" *tap*
Hearing Sarah's comment, Iliana stretched her neck around the wall of students and caught her eye. "The more the merrier, Sarah. It's not a requirement but if you're curious... you should consider giving it a try."
"Ready Annie?" she asked, giving her a little nod. *tap*

After each billywig administered its sting, Professor Lawson would quickly scoop them up and returned them to the tank.

"Is there anyone else that would like to come up?" she called out.

OOC: After you're addressed please RP your character being stung. Lexicon does not go into great detail regarding the Billywig's sting, other than stating it "causes giddiness and levitation". Therefore, please be creative in RPing how it affects YOUR character. Within reason of course. And as always, SS AND CoMC rules apply. Have Fun.

Dani raised her hand. "I'd like to try it Professor." She said, timidly. It didn't look like it hurt, and it actually looked kinda fun. Might as well give it a try. She shook her hair out of her eyes and looked at the billywigs curiously.

Kiri raised her hand. "Erm, I would, Professor," she said. According to the Care of Magical Creatures textbook, these Billywigs were supposed to cause "giddiness and levitation", and while Kiri didn't particularly want to let herself be stung on purpose (the Billywig she'd cast the Freezing Charm on was probably out for revenge), she thought she was due some giddiness. Her head felt heavy enough to warrant a bit of levitation too.

She stepped up and joined the circle of volunteers clustered around the professor.

"That's the spirit, Dani," she said, excitedly. *tap*
"I'm glad you decided to join in," she said, giving Kiri a warm smile. *tap*

Nicoletta took a deep breath. "Ready." she said bravely. She watched the stinger pierce her skin, but didn't feel anything besides a gental tingling sensation. She floated upwards three feet in the air. Hmm, it's almost like flying. she thought, except the only real movement she made was to bob up and down slightly in place. She crossed her legs criss cross applesauce so that she hovered lower to the ground. Nicoletta giggled and her eyelids started to droop as though she hadn't slept in a while. Again she giggled, still suspended in the air.

Not allowing herself even a moment to think about how scared of heights she was, Dani allowed the billywig to sting her. She felt a poke in her arm and then she couldn't stop giggling. The tiny third year didn't even realize she was a good three feet in the the air. It felt like someone was tickling her. The giggles were contagious. One giggle led to another, she couldn't stop. It was the happiest feeling she had ever felt. She felt like she would never not be happy again. It was great.

And then it was over. She was back on the ground. The smile was still on her face, but the giggles were gone. The overwhelming feeling of happiness was slowly fading. Standing there with a stupid grin on her face, she asked, "Can I do that again?"

Oh, she'd heard her.Sarah didn't think she would have done what with her concentrating on the other students.No matter, she was actually quite curious, it was true.Smiling, she nodded and stepped forward, holding out her own frozen billywig. "OK then Professor, if you're sure you don't mind another one," she half giggled, half coughed, as the thought of doing a Lawson (MR) filled her brain. "I'm ready...."

Now Jake thought about it... he really could do with a laugh. Tearing his eyes away from the castle where he was staring, Jake bit his lip. He wanted a go... but with no Billywig? No chance.

He raised his hand anyway. "P'fessor... duhh-do we HAVE to cuhh-catch one bbbefore we cccan be ssstung?" he asked, looking awkward. "'Cause I cuhh-can't... magic..."

He failed at magic, in other words.

Looked like he'd have to try it anyway, depending on what Lawson said.

Poor poooooor Billywigs.

Dylan took a deep breath. He was ready. No giggling. Men didn't giggle. He rolled up his sleeve ready to take the sting. "Ok." He closed his eyes and stuck out his arm.

There was the sudden jab of the stinger. It was momentary, and kind of painless. More the shock than anything. He waited for the giggling. Maybe he would be lucky with the levitation. He could slowly feel the top of his head rising. Dammit, no levitation. It had happened again. He steadied his breathing, no need to panic. Just a head swelling. He wasn't going to die.

And then the giggles started. His swollen head was bent over as he grasped at his stomach, the giggles rippling from him. His head was swollen it was funny. "Hehe hehe...hehe."

"Okay." Annie turned the the frozen Billywig. "Hey little....thing? Okay, So I'm going to let you sting me now. Just try not to hurt me, Okay?" She pushed a strand of hair behind her ear and laughed at the conversation she was having with a little sapphire insect.

Annie reached out the palm of her hand and pressd it onto the stinger. There was a slight prick, which stung ever so slightly, but the almost-instantaneous side-effects of the giddiness and levitation soon weighed out the pain.

As she floated, Annie felt the need to do something she'd only ever attempted on the ground. She crossed her legs, pressed her thumb and fore-finger together, and stratigically placed them on her thighs. She closed her eyes and gave a slight hmmmmm. And soon, the giddiness was replaced with a sense of inner-peace and happiness.

"So this is the way to meditate properly, huh?" She giggled to herself, losing concentration. She felt the levitation begin to wear off, but Annie's reactions were too slow to stop her from falling around 2 feet to the ground. She was slightly embarrassed by the loudness that the thud made, but was too busy beaming to care.

Josh smiled the moment he saw Rose smiling at him. Oooo she got happy to have it. ''You are welcome h...'' hun ''...ow nice of you to take it'' Phew! Remebering the last reactions he got for calling Evelyn hun, he quickly changed the word. Okay, she got it. But there was one thing he wondered so he leaned forward towards her and whispered. ''I know you are not stupid enough to lose a thing that bright of a colour. So, what are you aiming to do with an extra one?''

Then he looked up when he heard that Jake guy's stuttering speech once more. Okay, he knew he should not have done this in class but hey, he could not help it. Someone should help this guy about his speech.

''Hey Jake!'' he called snickering at the same time. ''Did you know that being stung can kill the stutterers?''

Not sure if I am, Kiri thought to herself, eyeing Professor Lawson's wand with a certain amount of unease. She should just stand here and let the Billywig sting her? That sounded foolish. Not that she was going to change her mind now!

Further down the row of volunteers, the first students were already rising slowly into the air, grinning as they did so. When the professor appeared in front of her, Kiri held out her hand (she'd removed the glove) obediently. With a tap of the wand, the Billywig unfroze. It sprang into the air, zoomed around Kiri's hand a few times, then... "Ouch!" Kiri muttered, more in surprise than pain. The Billywig's sting wasn't much more than a pinprick on her skin, but she hadn't even noticed it slow down. She eyed her hand curiously for a moment.

Sneaky little creature, the Billywig. Fly-by stinging! Kiri giggled. Fly-by! She thought she'd never heard a funnier thing in her life. In fact... In fact! She needed to let the others know about this rapier wit of hers. "Heeeey," she slurred, noticing a sapphire flash in front of her eyes that told her that the Billywig was still circling her, "what do you do when you get stung by a Billywig? Curse a blue streak! Blue streak, geddit?" She collapsed in a series of snorts. "Hey, where are you guys going?"

Because the rest of the class was moving away, and apparently they were taking the ground with them. She was about to tell them to leave a patch of grass for her when she realised that it was her who was in motion. Kiri glanced down. She was hovering above the ground. By at least a metre. Far out! No broom necessary! She flailed her arms excitedly and discovered that this enabled her to move. It was sort of like swimming through thin air. This brought on another round of laughter. Thin-air swimming, who had ever heard of such a thing!

It turned out manoeuvring was a bit difficult, though. Thunk! Kiri's head collided with the back of Professor Lawson's. "Sorry, Prof L," she managed, trying to rub her head and turn around at the same time.

"No honey. Once is all you get," she answered. "But it was fun, right?"
"Fantastic decision, Sarah," she exclaimed, running up to tap her billywig with the wand. *tap*
"No, Jake," she answered, waving him forward. "Just come up here and use mine."
Oh Merlin, there was one in every class. "Come over here a second, Dylan," Iliana said, trying not to laugh at his now monstrous head. "I have a deflating draught for you."
Iliana looked up when she heard Jake's name being called. Then she glared, placing both hands on her hips. "Joshua Carter, come here NOW!"

Thankfully, Dylan's giggles were coming to an end. He took a deep breath and lifted his giant head up with his arms. Holding his head in place, he carried it to the Professor, "Yes Professor?" Oh a deflating draught. Good-o. "Thank you." He was only trying to be manly. Thats what you get for trying. A big head. And literally too.

Ivory’s eyes followed mesmerized as the helicopter spin of the Billywig’s wings brought him closer and closer to the tip of her nose. Maybe it was her appeal with the idea of levitation, maybe it was simply because the vivid sapphire insect truly did fascinate her into submission especially when it made her practically cross eyed when it landed.Whatever the case she did pretty much nothing as the Billywig landed on her, even as she felt the slight touch of its landing and as it lingered there for a good while and even when then…hmmm …then it just flew away without doing anything?

That was weird. A small crease appeared between the young girl’s eyebrows in confusion. She had thought for sure it was going to sting her it had stayed on her for such a long time.

As it was Ivory was so busy being bemused and looking around to see if the Billywig had gone on to sting anyone else that she did not notice when slowly her body began to levitate a few inches.

In fact it wasn’t until she had floated to almost 2 feet and still rising when she thought it curious that she was eye level with her Professor. Being of a petite height of 4’3”, it was rare for this to be the case which is why she found it so astonishing and for some reason very very humorous.

“Oh I’m taller.” Looking down she realized how high she was off the ground, and began to laugh giddily. “Mr.Billywig stung me after all and I didn’t even feel it. He was all ninja-like in his attack.”

In her mind she imagined the small blue bug clothed in black and sporting its stinger as a katana, and dissolved into a fit of giggles as she rose a few more inches.

“He was probably all, ‘Eeya’ as he stung me.” Laughing she made sure to say ‘Eeya’ in a high falsetto miniature voice of what she thought the bug would sound like if he could talk.

More giggles. And one more foot in the air. Either she was really small or the whole good while the Billwig had been on her nose it had been injecting a hefty amount.

Beginning to hum the ‘You can Fly’ theme from the old muggle movie Peter Pan, she lifted her arms and tried to swim through the air.

This proved to be quite difficult when any little thing made her laugh and clutch her stomach.

She then proceeded to angle her body as if she was on a broom.

Laughing she exclaimed, “Look, look! I’m on an invisible broom” and then commenced on making whooshing noises even though she was technically not really moving more then a few feet in either direction and not even very rapidly.


Whether because the sting caused giddiness or she was just so excited to fly, she felt exhilarated to be in the air even if it was only a few feet.
