The classroom was arranged a little like an amphitheatre.
Desks were arranged in several rows, in a large semi-circle shape, facing the front of the room where Professor JD Kade was playing Jacks at his desk (at last look, he was working on foursies.)
On each desk, there was a note, and on the blackboard there was a large scrawly message that said:
Sit down
Get out a piece of parchment
Write down your FULL NAME, YEAR, and HOUSE
Fold the parchment in a little tent and stand it up on your desk so I can see it.
Unless of course you want to be Hey-You, in No-Year, of No-House.
PS: You can talk to each other until get past fivesies.
OOC: latecomers, now that the class has started, don't bother making the nametag, just pretend like you were always there and you have your nametag.

She read the note on the desk. Digging in her bag she pulled out parchment and ink and set to scribbling down her info.
She then folded it into the little tent as directed and placed it on her desk facing New Professor.
Lorcan scooted into the charms lesson and was pleased to see that Lexi was sat alone. He flopped into the seat next to her and got out his things. "Hi" He whispered. Noticing the sign that she had made he copied her:

He propped it up on the desk and looked at the Professor. Another new one? Hopefully, he would be cool, not scary or patronising like the other two new teachers.
Having done as instructed, Ivory now felt free to look around.
Looking around the classroom set up as an ampitheater, she spotted her friends Arya, Sabel and Allison not too far off. Before she could help it, she waved a hand in their direction. Complete with a big smile and exaggerated waves as if they were more than a few feet apart and couldn't see her very well.
Now she felt better just knowing she had some people she knew nearby.Although, if she kept the vow she had made to herself concerning not trying to be shy anymore she'd have to work on making more.
For starters though, she would work on actually participating in class and speaking up, and not being afraid of her wand and it's 'quirk.'
Noticing that the professor seemed to playing cards at his desk, she pondered whether he was actually that remarkable or if he was secretly watching his students, sizing them up. Maybe both.
Taking advantage of the chatter and his 'concentration' in the cards, she took this moment to examine him, to really scrutinize his persona.
He seemed to have a youthful but mature air about him that made him seem casual yet attentive all at once. She'd heard complaints around campus that many were upset with the staff changes made lately but being a first year and not having had the privilege of meeting any other charms professor she decided this one suited her just fine. Maybe if she was lucky he wouldn't be too judgmental about her wand, and her nervousness for that matter.
No, she vowed. She would concentrate and not stammer in her sentences or her incantations. She'd read the possible things that could go wrong and knew that changing even one vowel or pronouncing it differently sometimes ended in disaster.
Her nervousness slowly rising, she pondered if she should have sat in the back after all.
If I missed replying to you, it's cause I'm slow quoting and spoilering. :P

Like really.
Setting himself down at his desk, he squinted at the blackboard. He thought about greeting the professor, but seeing as he didn't know the man and he was doing something that looked like it took a lot of concentration, he opted to just sit and follow directions.
Taking out the parchment, he scrawled his name, year and house down, before tenting it on his front-row desk.

Probably.
Shaking his head mostly to himself, the boy nodded and gave the professor a friendly 'Yo' for a greeting, dropped his bag next to the chair he'd be occupying and took seat.

Once having found her seat, she meticulously read the note left on her desk. Covertly she shot a look around the classroom, it seemed there was a note on every desk not just her's. A sigh of relief escaped her lips, she had been worried for a second.
Removing a piece of parchment and quill and ink from her mokeskin belt, she happily dipped the quill in the fresh ink and looked up towards the black board.
Her eyes glancing back and forth between her writing and the instructions she printed out her information in neat yet obviously feminine writing.

After a few tries, during which she sadly had to look around to see other's finished work and discover it was merely supposed to be a folded once tent just enough to stand up, she finally succeeded in making a small tent albeit a bit of a folded-many-times one.

Entering the classroom, the professor was the first person he'd noticed. He was new too. Almost the whole teaching staff was new. What was happening with Hogwarts? Evan didn't like it at all. Then he glanced at the blackboard. An easy way to learn names. He found a seat quickly and then saw the note. Half out of boredom, half out of curiosity, he started to read it. Oh, shoot. Just at the first one, he was kinda breaking it. He had Slytherin robes on him but he wasn't sure about his shoes. They were trainers all white and had a huge Chelsea FC badge on them. None of the professors had any problem with it, so maybe this one wouldn't either? Hopefully. Nonetheless, he pulled his feet as back as he could under the chair and put one onto the other to cover at least some part. Nice. Unless the professor ducked and looked particularly at his shoes, they wouldn't be noticed in the hustle and bustle of class. If this professor would have a noisy class, that is.
To act normal, he took out a paper as instructed and wrote down the information.
Now, back to the Starlight song of Muse that had been playing in his mind since waking up.

Looking up, she quickly read over what the Professor had written on the board and turned to rummage in her bag for the necessary equipment. Dabbing her quill in some ink, she made sure it wouldn't drip before writing down the following:
Putting the quill down, she waited for the parchment to dry before folding it in the triangle as requested and placed it at the front of her desk. Now, WHERE were everyone? She wanted to get started! Rachel looked back down at her table and began reading the note set there as a way to pass the time.

Dropping his hand he blinked. First things first, the classroom was set up in a very similar style to the DADA class, minus the creepy black table in the centre. And the strange Professor. His eyes flicked to the desk at the other end and his thoughts stopped. Okay maybe include strange Professor. It was the same one he had run into, or rather that had been staring at him, at the opening feast. The one that had mentioned condiments on his robes.
Moving over to one of the student desks, Sabel pulled back the chair and gave the Professor a smile; hopefully it wasn't as dopey as he felt. "Did the dryceaners manage to remove the mustard stains, Sir? Yellow didn't go very well with those robes."
Maybe not the most proper greeting. But a greeting nonetheless.
BOUNCE! One-two-three-four-AAAAAHHH!! WHAT WHAT WHAT DO YOU WANT???
Oh students. Saying hello.
"Yes hi everyone," he said quickly. "It's house elves, Dakest. House elves, not drycleaners. Excuse me, I'm doing something very difficult here, talk amongst yourselves."
No answer? That's alright. Nina wasn't expecting an answer anyway. This was not a place to make friends after all. This was a place to learn and earn points! She could socialize anytime. Especially with that fellow Ravenclaw.
Lexi smiled weakly at Lorcan and said in a low tone, "Hey Nems."
She immediately went back to doodling on a spare piece of parchment. She was being all broody and angsty. Imagine that... a pre teen being angsty.
Emalyn tried to cover up a snort as she caught the Charms professor's reaction to other's greetings. Thank goodness she didn't decide to say hello to him. He...really liked jacks, huh? Hmm...she wondered if using a charm to jerk the bouncy ball in the completely wrong direction would count as extra credit.
Probably not. Ah, well.
She picked up her quill and started to draw littled doodles on her extra parchment.

Wincing a little at the Professor's sudden distraction, Sabel blinked. The Professor knew his last name already. He thought back to the feast, trying to remember if it had been said, or if the concentrating man had heard it through some other means; he wouldn't be surprised either way.
Sitting down beside Kellen, he spoke loud enough so only his friend could hear him and so he would not further 'distract' the Professor. "House elves don't know how to use bleach."
Pulling out parchment he scribbled on it as he glanced around the class, giving a small smile and wave to those he recognized; Allison, Arya, Ivory, Ian, Josh.
Straightening her quill, ink, and parchment in a certain matter Allison gave herself the opportunity to exchange a few words with her friends. However that was caught right before it went out of her mouth when recalled the incident of her stomping out of the dungeons. Rolling her eyes she gave a small chuckle. Waving back at Ivory, Allison gave her a flew blown grin. However there were two other people in the classroom Allison felt like buggi--sitting with. Dipping her quill quickly into the ink she wrote:

With the gum in her mouth, the brunette chewed rather loudly as she pulled out a parchment, wrote down her name, her house and whatever other thing the professor asked. When she was done, she folded the paper just as he instructed and put it in the front of her desk. If she weren't a student, she would've been mistaken for a customer's service person or maybe a loud secretary with that awfully squeaky voice and long fingernails.
Speaking of nails, Bell began drumming her fingers on the desk, apparently expressing her boredom. Her eyes had already scanned around and concluded that nothing was interesting. The class only had idiots, nosepickers and people she didn't even think were supposed to walk this planet.

Actually, as the eleven year old slipped into an empty seat and read the note on the desk, he was surprised that this Professor actually sounded BETTER than that Hawkins or whats-his-face that Mia told him about. Oh yes, this Professor, judging from the note, sounded like he was at HIS speed!
Bouncing slightly in his seat as he tried to get comfortable - Aaron ended up tucking his legs under his bottom as he took note of the message on the chalkboard. Pulling out some parchment, on the top sheet, he proceeded to fill it out in BIG handwriting that filled up half the parchment:
Quote:
Aaron Rose "The most AWESOME one!"
First Year
Hufflepuff
Satisfied, he folded the parchment in half and set it up to be displayed toward the front of the room. And then, as patiently as possible, he waited for the lesson to begin; aka, for the professor to finish his most difficult game.

Ian had begin to doodle on his parchment and successfully tuned out not only the professor, but the rest of the people, too. Granted, the former hadn't been exactly part of his plan, but well, what could he do?
Taken out of his reverie he was, however, when a foot collided with his. Yes, collided. Jumping on his seat and looking around for the culprit, Ian's eyes fell on Kellen. Oh. Hm. "Did you call her It? I told you not to call her It. No WONDER why she put up SUCH a battle." Charlotte Marie was sensitive, how hard was that to understand?
The boy tapped his cheek with a finger as he thought about it. And the answer came VERY easily. "I'm going to give her to Daph Hopton as a gratitude AND Birthday present." Never mind that he didn't KNOW when the older's girl birthday was.
But surely, SURELY, she would love It - HER. "Or maybe I'll just set her free." Like ... in the common room.
Skipping into the classroom, Wesley's bounce stopped when she saw the desk's formation.
Being the highly paranoid person that she was, Wesley's eyes bulged. There was no such thing as coincidence. This professor was obviously friends with the DADA professor. Why else, would they arrange their desks as such?
Realizing she was holding up traffic, the Hufflepuff lowered her head, walking quickly and quietly to the first seat open. Pulling out her text book and supplies, she analyzed what had been written on the board.
Biting her lip, the Hufflepuff carefully followed directions, dipped quill scratching across her parchment in loopy letters.

Gently, she placed her writing utensil aside and folded the parchment so it would stand up. It flopped. Reaching down for her bag, the Hufflepuff pulled out some spellotape and tried to reinforce her sign.
After many pain-staking seconds, she managed to get the sign to stay up but somehow acquired more tape on her person than the parchment.
Wincing as she picked them off herself, she looked around the room, spotting Sarah and smiling.
The last time she had made a sign was in Professor Shackleton's class.
So class still hasn't started yet...
And here she was, with no one near enough to talk to.
She watched Allison send a note thinking she wished she knew how to do that.
Maybe this lesson will be on the various ways to pass notes?
Nina smiled to herself. Note to self: Ask Allison how to do that after class...
Arya had stoped watching the professor to pull out her wand and twirl it aimlessly between her fingers. It wasn't til the pofessor had addressed Sabel that she realized her friends were in the classroom. Glancing around the room she waved back to Ivory and Sabel. Before she could look for Allison she was already sitting beside her.Arya had a big grin on her face as she looked at her friend. "Sorry about calling you Pippin...I only ment it as a joke."She took note to never call Allison that again, not wanting to upset her friend as much as it had.
Glancing back around the classroom she saw more familiar faces. She waved at Jake, who she hadn't seen since last class. Looking beside Sabel, she stuck her tongue out palyfully at him befor giving a smile to Kellen. She wasn't sure if she liked the boy or not, but it couldn't hurt to be friendly. She waved to Kay before turning back to Allison.
Allison winced at the reminder of being called Pippin. Feigning dementia, she stared at Arya with a confused look on her face, "I don't what you are talking about. What I do know is that I bought these books with my mum back at Diagon Alley to learn Spanish, ya know? Well I bought a Spanish book. A book in Spanish. There is no type of English in it! I messed up! However will I learn that way, now I really got to write to meh mum." To cheer herself up Allison took out a chocolate from her satchel and began to eat it. Pointing at her chocolate Allison offered one to Arya.
In the near distance Allison heard what she now referred to Stern's remark, and chose to ignore it. Really the boy was rude and mean. She had never done a single thing to him. She had only done to Ian! Psht--Allison shifted uncomfortably in her seat, who needed him?
Allison then received the note from Sabel and grinned. Too much pollen, she ought to conjure some roses and dump in on Stern as well. Maybe he'd be just as allergic to all the pollen, and he'd get a huge runny nose, and then! AND THEN SHE'D LAUGH!
Vashti also noticed another familiar face sitting near her - one of her fellow Ravenclaws. "Hey Nina!" she said with a friendly smile. "How're you doing? Enjoying all of your classes so far?"
"Hey!" Glad to see someone close by. You have no idea how glad. "I'm great. You? And yes I am. They're very interesting for the most part. Astronomy was boring, but that's alright. Maybe it'll get better. How do you like all your classes?"
