Allison looked at the coupon for a long time. What in bloody hell? With her eyes on the coupon and her hand taking notes Allison multi-tasked three times fold. And then she placed her quill down and looked oddly at her professor. "Professor, but certainly it's not so dangerous. With our O-Zone most of us can rest assured nothing will happen to us. Of course ignoring the growing hole up towards the north of our planet." |

I can see what you mean. I've always been jealous of those lucky to get sun tans."
Seeing that the professor had a valid point, she placed her awarded coupon down and took down more notes. It wasn't until she placed the last period to her paper that she realized the professor already knew her name. With amazement and pure admiration Allison looked up more eagerly to learn.

Maidee nodded, "I too, Allison. I wish I could tan, but my skin just doesn't allow it." She sighed somewhat dramatically implying that though she may be jealous that she couldn't tan, she also didn't mind nearly as much as some others might. She, after all, could work outside at night.

A sun burn? But...wait what? She herself had never gotten a sun burn before and she spent loads of time outside. In fact, she never tanned! And she never will because the Professor said she could get skin cancer. Whatever cancer was. It did not sound good though. No more being outside! Aaand she was totally going to ignore that comment about some hole appearing up north of Earth. "The sun side would be around 110 degrees Celsius and the Earth side would be around -150 degrees celsius." Yes, she in fact, paid attention to her tutors over the summers, slightly, even though she pretended not too. Or at least she thought those temperatures right. Then again, it was Astronomy...not one of the subjects that held all of her attention.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Allison Scott Fifth Year | "On the side of the moon that the sun is shining on, the temperature reaches 212°Fahrenheit. On the dark side of the moon, it can be very cold, -247° Fahrenheit..to be precise," Allison had heard this on Muggle television, and she hoped to dear Merlin she remembered correctly.
Then again she did recall her brother discussing it with her mother...GAH she hadn't said it in Celsius. Did it matter? Darn muggle American schools, getting her use to answer in Fahrenheit. Allison proceeded to look embarrassed.
Allison began to do the math next to her notes and frustrated herself more than once. 100°C (212°F)...-155°C (-247°F). Oh whatevs.

Annnd...HeadDesk!
Blake's eyes shot open once his head hit the desk causing him to wince in pain. Oh no..snoozed. Meh...
Wiping the drool off his chin, he propped his chin on one hand and sighed. Preeeetty boring stuff. But what is it?
Astronomy.....eeee.
What a great timing! He just caught the Professor's question. FLipping through his book, Blake raised his hand, "Uh..Professor, it's 92 degrees Celsius, or 192 degrees Fahrenheit on the sunny side annnd...." He trailed off and squinting his eyes at the tiny text, he added, "....-173 degrees Celsius, or arounnnd -280 degrees Fahrenheit on the dark side. Gosh that's extreme hot and cold going on on the moon. Poor thing." Closing his book again, he smiled at the Professor and sighed. No snoozing again...hopefully.

Thalia walked slowly up to the astronomy tower. Not her favorite type of class that's for sure. Still this was relatively exciting. She took a seat on the floor of the tower, taking out a notebook and her book.

Kay sat quietly listen to the professor. She knew a little about all of this but what to make sure she got good notes. The other were talking about the sun side of the moon and the earth side. Everyone had come up with different answer. "Professor," Kay said with her hand up. "The Moon can range from +127 to -173 c, but to the moon's poles it can get as cold as -240c." Kay hopes it was a good answer.

Ella had actually known the answer to that question, but many had answered before her. She decided to wait until the next one. Astronomy had never been one of her strong suits, yet once in a while she did understand what was being talked about. Why not give it a shot?

Who would have thought Astronomy would be this interesting? Not Destiny that's for sure. At least this professor knew what she was talking about, instead of that very important Borr man. Destiny might even enjoy this class.
Ehh, she didn't know the answer to that question. Who would know that? Apparently a lot of people, since they all answered. Oh well, Destiny would just take notes, she knew how to do that. Quote:

Every...Flavor...Beans. Turning to Destiny for a split moment, she scooted the little bag over to her, smiling a little. "Want some?" Where was she when Evelyn got candy!? Destiny wanted candy..but not every flavor beans..yuck! She hadn't had them since her brothers held her down and made her eat a bogey flavored one, 'No thanks. I don't like them.' she whispered.
And back to taking notes!!

Satine didn't know the answer but was quickly making notes about the topic. She had always wondered what the difference was and was mega excited to see what this lesson was leading to.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Amur Neverwinter Fourth Year | ~ Rise and Rise Again, Until Lambs become Lions ~ Tapping his quill against his paper Sabel pondered for a moment. Well, the earth made a 360 degree rotation each day. Raising his hand, he delved into the rambles his grandfather had given him about space and time. They had been more philisophical than scientific in nature and some of them were way out there, as his previous answer had been, so he wasn't too confident in his statement...Well, rather in the later part of his statement. "The earth has a rotation period of 24 hours. 360 degrees per day. Or in solar hours the earth rotates at a velocity of more than 1,674.4 km per hour." |

Nate knew this one. They learned that in elementary school!
"Earth at the equator is about 1,038 miles per hour. At mid-latitudes, the rotation decreases to 700 to 900 miles per hour." Nate said with confidence.
