Beginner's Astronomy 1 Maidee skipped from her office to her classroom, which, was not very far at all. She got just a couple of jumps in before having to stop and unlock the classroom door. Whistling a tune she knew since childhood, she went inside and looked around. Nodding with approval, this room, at least, wasn't bad. She gave a wave of her wand and a giant moon started to rotate in the front of the room. Grinning she moved to her desk and took a seat, still humming beneath her breath she is my dear, my darling one... First class of the year was here. Just the mere idea of it made Cy want to barf. Especially since he'd made a DREADFUL on his Astronomy test the past two years. The only class he didn't make a DREADFUL on was CoMC. In fact. But, he'd have to stomach it. ... .. . "G'day Profess---" WAIT, a moment. First of all there was a moon in the room. Second of all, she was humming a very familiar song. His aunt had hummed/sang it all the time. She was irish, an this song was irish, right? "My smilin and beguilin' one," his Aussie accent rang out in a bit of confusion. Maybe he was wrong. |
Patroclus, breezed into what would be the first class of his second year, but first full year at Hogwarts, he smiled and said "Good Morning" to Professor McFarlane. He then found a seat and starred at the heavenly orb that spun, suspended in midair. |
Katherine smiled. Finally her first lesson! Even though she was rubbish witth astronomy she still found it interesting but...to distracting. Katherine saw the moon rotating before her and couldn't help but give a small 'wow'. She took a seat and looked up at their Professor eager to begin. |
Evies first lesson. She saw a large moon moving and was instantly hooked she'd always loved the stars, now she's learning astronomy, it was going to be great. |
Astronomy...she had no idea what she was doing here since last years Astronomy class was a disaster, and she was slightly afraid to see if Borr would be back or not. But apparently he wasn't since the lady looked nothing like him. For a moment she thought it was Bunz, but no...Thank Merlin... "Good day Professor." Evelyn smiled slightly at the teacher before moving to a desk in the back. Though when she put her bag on the ground and sat down smoothly in her seat, is when she finally noticed the moon orb like thing in the front of the room. "Woah." |
Kellen wandered into the classroom and stopped for only a second when he saw the moon at the front of the class. Well, that was unusual. He smiled at the professor and took a seat about halfway back. |

She nodded in greeting to the other students entering into class. "Hello, everyone." |
Well here it was, the first class of the term. Walking in Marie sees a new professor in the room. "Good morning professor, how are you today?" Taking a seat in the back of the room Marie sees Evalyn sitting there. "Hey Evalyn." |
HAPPY FIRST YEAR ATTACK! The really small first year with big blue eyes skipped into the class and scanned it brightly. "Hi professah!" Candy said cheerfully. |
These steps are going to kill me.. Destiny thought as she walked into the classroom. Couldn't there be an easier way to get up here, like flying. That would be fun. She smiled at the Professor and gave her a wave. She would not talk, she was too out of breath for that. Not even noticing the big moon, she made her way to the back of the class and sat next to Evelyn. 'Lawson isn't teaching Astronomy..' Unless he dyed his hair red, but Destiny doubted that. |
Tripping over his shoelaces, which Merlin had so graciously undone for him as a going away gift of goodwill for his first class, Sabel stumbled behind Kellen and sunk into the free seat beside him. A wince crossed his face, first class and he was already making unneccessary, unintentional blunders. |
Allison had always been number one in her class--or that's what her mother assured her. Muggle school, had been... incredibly easy. And so much fun! Being extremely nervous Allison tip-toed into the room and simply raised an eye-brow at the moon. This was Astronomy...it made sense. Walking towards the very front of the room she sat down and gave the professor the cutest smile on the planet. It was astronomy after all. |
Fia walked into the class, her first one of the new term. Astronomy was not one of her stronger subjects but she was here to learn more and what better way than with one of the new professors. She walked into class, first noticing the rather large moon that was rotating in the front of the classroom. Interesting and she already knew, this professor seemed rather cool and...happy. |
"My aunt is old-school," he assured her with a fervent nod. Well, maybe it was time to sit down. Cy took that as his queue to go and find his seat. Did he say cant' wait for the lesson? Did he say anything else? Cyrus really didn't know. He just... sat. |
Sidney wipes the sleep from her eyes and walks into the Astronomy Tower. She finds herself an empty telescope and sits down. "Good evening professor." Sidney hopes this class doesn't last too long. She was having a great dream before her alarm clock went off. |
Damien walked into the classroom slowly. He was excited for the first class of term. Wonder what his friends back home would say if they knew he was in an astronomy class. Oh well, he was sure it would be interesting. Looking around for a seat he noticed Sabel and Kellen and decided to go join them. Siting down in the seat on Kellens other side, he gave them each a nod hello. |

"Good to know, always nice to know there's others keeping the old alive." She gave him another smile and let him go to her seat, using that as a sign to start class. Standing up, she took charge of the class. "Now, I know everyone is anxious for classes to begin, so I hope everyone paid attention. This is BEGINNER's Astronomy. For those early for Advanced Astronomy, that class will be next weekend. (ooc: Jan 22-24th)." |
Sighing in relief that it was indeed BEGINNERS, Cy took out some parchment to attempt taking notes on. But that was obviously an absurd idea, Cyrus had not once taken notes in his life. ALL of his notes... infact... were doodles. All of them. Quill out too, he watched the moon steadily. It was... pretty cool. No lie. |
Astronomy, was there any science so profound? Probably, but they were too much so and thus Chaucer had no need for them. What wonders of the universe would be uncovered here, in this class? While these thoughts pooled in his pretty head, Chaucer sat very still with a look of contained excitment on his face. Kellen and him had talked about studying astronomy for years, but it was removed as a 'superfluous element of academia' before they had the option. |
Evie got out her equipment and waited listening hard. She was ready to learn. She wanted all good grades this year. |

Shaking her head in disbelief that there was an advanced class for this, she took out a dark blue notebook that she got over the summer with the word Astronomy written on the front in silver ink. While opening it to the first page, she glanced around, taking out some ink and a short green and silver quill as well. Deciding since she had a slight problem of losing parchments last year, this year she would just use notebooks for all her classes. So much easier... |
Katherine looked around hoping no one sat behind her after al her frizzy hair would definitely block their view. She had to pay close attention after all if there was something she could never fully understand was astronomy. |
After waiting an appropriate amount of time, Maidee cleared her throat. "Obviously, today's lesson is on the moon. "Our moon is a natural satellite, a satellite is an object that orbits, or goes around, a planet, like Earth. If we were to fly to the moon today and stand on it, looking back at Earth, the Earth would look to be 4 times bigger than a full moon. Since we have been to the moon, if you were to look up at the sky with a good telescope, you'd have to find the right places to see stuff we've left behind." |
Allison wasn't relieved to hear it was a beginner's class, she felt disappointed. Although she knew little of astronomy she knew that it was a lower than advanced. Sighing she took out her quill and ink, and a few pieces of parchment. When she heard a bit of a racket and she turned to see the perpetrator of such awful disruption. Seeing Sabel take a seat she sighed, he did have two left feet. Her favorite Gyffindor was in the room, and he was sitting with fellow Ravenclaws. Not quite sure whether to go sit with him--note: him not them, Allison gave him an excited smile and waved. However before she could decide on anything the professor spoke and she began taking notes on the moon. "It was the Americans the first to have landed," she added next to her notes. "However...there has been controversy nearly for a century that it had all been a great sham, who knows what to believe." Allison added. |
