Professor Crispe is waiting in the classroom for the students to arrive, once again there is nothing of particular note in here, its just a classroom, the usual desks and chairs and Professor Crispe's name written on the blackboard.

He greets you as you walk in to the class.

ooc: sorry for the delay opening the lesson, things happened.

Sidney looks at the squares she did in the last class. I have multiple numbers: three 2's and two 1's. That's about it, so I guess my chart would qualify. "Professor, I volunteer if you need another person."

"But--!!" She sighed. It wouldn't do any good to argue with the teacher. She shrank back a little and pulled down the hood, revealing a set of cat ears that had folded down in her embarassment. There was no way she was going to someone for this. She did it, and she was going to fix it! She sighed. They were really cute otherwise, and would make for a great costume potion! Well, if they were temporary.

Opened her notebook and looked down at her grid. Nope... nothing repeated. Was that weird?

Ella was fond of the professor. Even though she had very little memory of what had gone on in the previous class, he had approved. And he liked Gryffindors, apparently, and that was a plus.

She didn't want to participate because she thought it would be embarrassing to get something wrong. She decided to watch the others for now, and definitely learn from them.

Chris watch as a few students volunteered excitedly for Professor Crispe. He was glad that they wanted to participate and was happy that Professor Crispe, as a new Professor, was getting treated well and getting settled in nicely.

He would have volunteered had there not been so many volunteers before him, and if he had a more concrete understanding of what had happened last lesson. He had learned how to make the squares, but he was still a bit shaky on their meanings and what not, so the Gryffindor Prefect was content in watching his classmates take part in the excercie.

She had a strange feeling he wouldn't let her do this but she didn't care, she was still going to let him know she was willing to volunteer.

These people usually make good performers, and can often be quite intense and serious. Some are emotional drama queens. They often like to give advice to others even when their own life is secretly a mess. By becoming aware of their emotions, they gain control over them rather than have their emotions control their life. Once they do this they show great depth of understanding and are emotionally balanced.

Arrow of Poor Memory Negative 3,6,9
These people can be forgetful and absent-minded. This doesn’t mean that they are not clever, they just need to use it or lose it. Some are very smart and witty. They have to work hard at keeping their brains active or there is a tendency to forget things and be mentally dull. They won’t always apply logical thought to situations. Their memory gets worse over time.

Gold stepped away from the board, and raised a hand. She wasn't so sure of her answer, but it was worth a try, right?

"They have to do with the principle of karma, don't they, sir? That we reap what we sow. They can help one get an insight into the subconscious, can pinpoint what the heart has to say - what one fears, desires or hopes for - and can tell how the best of intentions don't always give the best of results, and what you must learn in the present and the time to come."

"... and like everyone else has said, they help one figure out what to do to rectify mistakes one might have made in one's previous lives, and how to gain from what one does, in this life."

She was pretty sure she was mixing up some stuff here. But at least she had tried, and that was better than saying nothing at all.

With an inward shrug, Gold lowered her hand.

Cedric raised his hand confidently, "Karmic numbers serves as our guide or it generally tell us by its interpretation what we need to do so that we can make or correct our wrongdoings in our past lives. And another usage of Karmic numbers is it gives us ideas how others sees us when it comes to first impressions." he deliberately answered with a glum smile.

Arrow of Planning: These people have good planning and organisational skills. They are able to make plans, recognise their goals and work out the best way to achieve them. However, they need to leave room for spontaneity and fun as they tend to over-plan. They will often have copious notes with everything written down, and a well planned diary. They often skip the details in order to see the bigger picture.

These people lack motivation and get up and go. They need to be encouraged to get out and experience everything life has to offer, using physical games and exercises to keep themselves moving. "Those of you who mentioned correcting mistakes in a previous life or reep the rewards sown in this life are correct." Crispy beamed widely at Herminny, Chris, Gold and Carter. So bright and brilliant. Just like he was when he was a young Gryffindor.

"Numbers that are completely missing from someone’s grid indicate lessons that the person must learn in this lifetime. This life and future lives will improve if these lessons are learnt. And likewise numbers present in the grid have meaning, and the amount of times a particular number appears changes that meaning. So lets look at our volunteers grids and identify the meanings held in each individual square. Please raise your hand and identify one missing number and the meaning of one present number in any of the grids on the board. Only one of each please."

A flurry of papers began to circle the room, one deposited itself on each desk.

Quote:
Presence of Numbers in Grid
One
The number 1 shows how a person communicates with others. It also relates to their level of confidence.
SPOILER!!: One

1 one
These people find it very hard to communicate their innermost feelings. They also find it hard to see the other person’s point of view. These people are a little confident.

2 ones
These people express themselves very easily. They can understand other people’s point of view very well. This is considered the perfect number of 1s to have in your grid. These people are confident.

3 ones
There are two types of people who have three 1’s in their grid, those who never stop talking or those who never say a word. Many of these people can be both, depending on the situation. These are generally happy, content people. They tend to be entertainers or work in the communications industry. These people are very confident.

4 ones
People with four 1s in their chart find it very difficult to express their thoughts and feelings verbally. They are very sensitive. They are frequently misunderstood. They find it very hard to relax. These people are extremely confident.

5or more ones
People with five or more 1s in their grid experience enormous difficulties expressing themselves verbally. They often express themselves through writing, acting, painting, sculpture or dancing. They have addictive personalities. These people are extremely confident.

Two
The number 2 indicates how sensitive, perceptive and intuitive a person is. It also indicates how co-operative, diplomatic, and tactful they are.
SPOILER!!: Two

1 two
These people are sensitive, perceptive and intuitive. They are easily hurt. They can easily detect insincerity and dishonesty in others. These people are somewhat co-operative, diplomatic, and tactful.

2 twos
People with two 2s in their grid are very intelligent, sensitive, perceptive and intuitive. They can detect the motivations of others, and their first impressions of other people are usually correct. These people are very co-operative, diplomatic, and tactful.

3 twos
These people have an overabundance of sensitivity and intuitive energy and can be easily hurt. They are aloof and live in a world of their own feelings. They prefer being on their own instead of with other people who might hurt them. They usually lack confidence early in life. These people are very co-operative, diplomatic, and tactful.

4 twos
These people are hypersensitive and too emotional. They overreact to small problems. They prefer to be alone. They suffer from self-doubt, lack of confidence and lack of trust in others. These people are very co-operative, diplomatic, and tactful.

Three

Upon being called at Nancy smiled slightly at Professor Crispe before she swiftly stood up to walk to the front. In her right hand she held on tightly to the parchment which contained her grids from last time. As she started copying her grid from her parchment the 17 year old noticed that Torin had volunteered too. At least somebody she knew who apparently shared her interest in Arithmancy.

SPOILER!!: Grids
Name: Nancy Hudonson
Year & House: 6th Year, Slytherin
D.O.B.: December 2nd, 2053

--> Positive Arrow of Planning
--> Negative Arrow of Inactivity

After she had finished with copying her grid Nancy turned around, stepping back from the board and waited expectantly for interesting interpretations from her classmates. Should she go back to her seat? Uuuhm... Blue eyes flickered towards Torin who was still standing right there beside her. Okay, that probably meant stay.

Jack was...utterly confused. He had gotten lost during the last lesson and was just as lost this lesson. He was starting to slowly catch on though...after staring at the grids for a good five minutes, he thought he had gathered enough info off of Torin's chart to take a crack at interpretting his friend's grid.

"So, Torin doesn't have any 8's on his grid, so according to this sheet you handed out...he needs to work on managing his money in a better way," he said, flashing his friend a playful grin. "But he also has two 5's, which indicates that he is very determined and could probably save the money if he REALLY tried, although it might mess his emotions up cause he's so passionate and emotional," he added.

Tee hee. This explained SO MUCH about Torin. He'd have so much fun heckling his friend later! It would be payback for unintentially starting a fight between him and Reese.

Slytherin by heart

Lina had quickly replaced her hood and sat quiet. She didn't want to do anything more to draw attention to herself. Until... Great, she had a question. Oh well. She raised a little hand as she looked over the charts. "Ms. Hudonson has three twos in her chart, which means that she's very sensitive and intuitive, and can be aloof as they feel seperated from others. 'Complimenting' that, so to speak, is a missing 9 from her chart. This also says that she's aloof, and also says that she tends to overlook others' wants and needs and feelings.

"Though sir, I know that no one is perfect, but everyone has to have one or two missing numbers from their charts, don't they? Today's birthdays only have eight numbers to begin with, and in this century only seven of those could not be zero, which would be two missing numbers. It's difficult enough to not have numbers repeat and have no zeroes, and so I would estimate that anyone born in this millenium would have no less than two missing numbers, and those of this century would have no less than three. Those born before the year 1000 are even more likely to have more missing numbers. Supposing this is all true, does this mean that we're all slowly moving toward perfection, does higher karmic debt come in waves such as with those born in this century and thus all have one zero in our birth dates, and does this mean relieving of ourselves of karmic debt in future lives become exponentially harder?"

So lets look at our volunteers grids and identify the meanings held in each individual square. A flurry of papers began to circle the room, one deposited itself on each desk.
Gold raised a hand.

"Carter has no nine, sir," she said politely. "That means he can tend to overlook what others are feeling or what they need, or can be aloof -- not get a job done, need to work on giving more of himself. But he also has two two's -" Two twos? Hehe. "Which means he is a smart, sensitive, perceptive and intuitive individual. He can get to know what the motivations of someone else are, and knows tact and diplomacy."

She nearly lowered her hand, frowned, and then raised it fully once more. "Sir?" Her tones were thoughtful. "This means he doesn't really get what others are feeling and - or - need, but it also says that he is perceptive and sensitive. Don't those two statements... sort of contradict each other? Could it be that sometimes, opposite meanings can cancel out, or maybe neutralize, each other? Or bring a balance, some sort of intermediate between the qualities or drawbacks they speak of?"

She shrugged, lowered her hand.

Sidney looks at the grids on the board and studies the handout that just flew by her. She then raises her hand. "Gold's grid has two number sevens. That means she will learn wisdon from losing something valuable to her like money, love, or her health. I assume because of this loss she will become involved with a psychic or become interested in the occult. Gold also has an analytical mind. That doesn't seem to go together- interest in the occult and an analytical mind."

"Her grid is missing the number nine. According to this, Gold tends to overlook the feelings and needs of others. She is aloof and detached. That probably explains why she overlooks the feelings and needs of others. Gold also doesn't finish what she starts. She can resolve this problem by learning to give more of herself and become a true humanitarian."

WHAT?

That - that - was certainly not going to happen. Gold frowned to herself, as Sidney continued to speak. Pfft... if there was one person that was as far from the terms 'detached' and 'aloof' as is possible, it was her. Gold Laksh. She loved the spotlight, and she certainly .... wait a second! Overlook the needs of others? No way! There was a reason she wanted to be a healer, and an expert one at that!

She resisted the urge to cross her arms against her chest, and was pretty glad when Sidney stopped speaking.

Because that was better.

MUCH better.

"Thats a good theory. There are many studies relating to this, while relieving ourselves of karmic debts may become harder in some respects, as time goes on and birthdate numbers increase, many of the strengths revealed in our numbers increase also, thereby giving an individual better 'tools' so to speak, when it comes to repaying and learning from those debts." Crispy intoned, complete with sweeping gestures.

She shrugged, lowered her hand.

"Not at all, they do not cancel one another out simply because they indicate an entire lifetime of repayment or of developing strengths. Some may be the case now and some may not truly be the case until some other point of an individual's lifetime. Recall also that the other numbers and vibrations, such as those existing in your name, give us even further insight into an individual, their strengths, weaknesses, and where their life is taking them."

"Be careful how you phrase such things little Hufflepuff, a body could take offense." Crispy bristled a little on Gold's behalf. To talk of a Gryffindor in such a way! Even if it was in her chart, it was in her chart and not necessarily all in herself all at one time.

"Alright I suppose you've got the hang of referring to the meanings and the charts now, so for homework I would like each of you to find the present and missing numbers in your chart, what they mean and what you think of them. In addition you are to do the same for a friend's chart. That is all. Dismissed."[/B]

ooc: so many lessons and all the dram going on I figure arithmancy class is the last thing on anyone's mind. So there we go.
