Dylan entered the Arithmancy classroom. He eyed the Professor. Scary! "Um hey there Professor," he said, trying to smile at him. He quickly hurried to a seat.

Gold stepped into the classroom, and glanced round with a pair of really, bright green eyes. Her gaze landed, pretty much at once, on the substitute Arithmancy professor, and she curved her lips into a small smile.

"Good day, Professor Crispe."

That was his name, right? She remembered it from the notice, in the common room. Hmph.


She was about to turn away, when she spotted someone else. Someone special. Dylan, of course. She resisted the urge to wave at him, and satisfied herself by giving him a pretty smile.

She had eavesdropped overheard earlier that Professor Shackleton wouldn't be there at class today, but she was still slightly hoping to see the familiar Professor when walking into the classroom. But no, the Arithmancy Professor wasn't there. Instead they had...this guy. Kinda looked like her father nowadays with the way he was standing.

"Good day, Professor." she said quietly, before moving to her usual desk in the back. Taking out her correctable quill like the notice said, she stared at it for a moment before taking out her ink and notebook as well. And...she totally forgot the grid paper. Great. Maybe Destiny will have some she could borrow...

Becca walked into Arithmancy and was a bit startled at the substitute staring intently at everyone and everything in the room. He looked practiced, like he knew exactly what he was doing. "Hello Professor! Having a nice day so far?" Then she walked slowly toward a nice desk in the center of the room.

Jack missed Shackleton. That was his first thought as he entered the room.

As soon as Jack walked into the classroom, he could tell he was NOT going to like this dude. Just the way he was watching everyone at the front of the classroom like that--like some oversized hawk--just rubbed him the wrong way. WHY were the all the new professors NOT very nice lately? First Duskurk, now this guy...what was his name again? Gold addressed him, and Jack remembered it now--Crispe.

"Hello, Professor Crispe," he said politely as he took a seat. Normally he'd be all like "I'm Jack Fritzera, Head Boy!" but he didn't want to have to prove his status by doing a billion pushups or anything like that. That just seemed like something this dude would make him do, and he wasn't about to risk it.

...

Who was this? Raiden's unnaturally green eyes settled on the man standing in the Arithmancy classroom as he walked through the door; he assumed it was only a temporary substitute, as he'd heard nothing of the professor resigning or being let go, but... well he'd not seen the man before.

"Hello, sir," he said cautiously. He wasn't sure what to think of the man, seeing as they'd never had him in for classes before. And seeing as the Prefect was currently sporting big cat ears and a crup tail... he didn't think this was going to be a good first impression. Yay.

He moved toward the seat next to Dylan.

And he practically hoped his way over the classroom. It was a good thing that he didn't actually entered jumping up and down, considering the looks of this Professor. "Good day, Sir!" he said, with a nod. Treyen didn't precisely like this man, he was eyeing EVERYONE and EVERYTHING.

Scary, right?

Oh, well, first impressions aren't always what they seem.

And he walked, yes, walked this time, and took a seat behind Jack-Jack.

Reese was so excited about seeing Professor Shackleton since she hasn't talked to the Arithmancy Professor since last term, but when she walked through the doors of the classroom, she raised an eyebrow at the man standing in the front. He was NOT Professor Shackleton.

"Good evening, sir," she greeted him with a grin. By the way he was looking at all the students, made her feel a tiny bit uncomfortable. She turned away from the Professor to find her usual desk near the front of the classroom, then she sat down and pulled her textbook out.

Professor Amadeus Crispe had no patience for stragglers. He nodded tersely at the students as they arrived. He would be starting very soon. He was not interested in making friends, he had a job to do.

Teach.

He did take particular note of those students wearing badges however. He might have almost smiled at the Gryffindors.

Fred walked into the Arithmancy classroom knowing there was gonna be a substitute but upon seing him he gulped. This guy reminded him of hiis professors when he went to Durmstrang and he kinda felt like running away but was not about to do it. He just passed mister scary professor and took a seat in the dark gloomy room.

'Man this sucked'

Ivory skipped into the classroom. It was her favorite month after...the month she finally turned 12!

Seeing Raiden not too far off, she sank herself into a desk next to him and smiled brightly before turning to the Professor.

Her smile froze on her face just a bit....wow this guy oozed the 'I-demand-respect' aura from every pore.

Straightening her back and getting all her required materials out of her mokeskin belt, she waited with rapt attention, while putting the last finishing touches on her personal Arithmancy Journal.

Lucille skipped into class and caught sight of the professor.

She stopped skipping.

He didn't look like a man who allowed skipping in his class. So she tip toed over to a desk instead, casting a raised eyebrow at the professor.

He looked....like he was going to hurt them. o_O

Oh perfect another mean scary Professor. Not fun.

Destiny walked into the classroom and didn't even acknowledge the professor. He wasn't acknowledging any students, so why bother. That'll teach him a lesson, it would.

Taking a seat next to Evelyn, Destiny pulled out all the things she needed. Stupid school supplies..

Apparently this guy was a man of very little words. Yet, as he sat down...did he smile at him? Maybe? Just a bit? Perhaps Jack was just going crazy. Or maybe Crispe had seen his Head Boy badge? Hmmmm.

As he sat down and looked around, he noticed that Raiden was STILL sporting cat ears like he had at the match. Poor Raiden! Jack hadn't been at potions during the whole incident that resulted in all these people-animals walking around, so he wasn't exactly sure what had happened...could Ashford not heal him or something?! Oh nooo! How horrible! He made a mental note to make him a get well soon card after class.

He smiled at Reese as she sat down as well, keeping his mouth shut the entire time as he waited for the lesson to start.

Gold found herself a seat, and glanced up at the professor. Nobody seemed to have taken to him much but she was, well, not so sure if she disliked him. He seemed like a strict man, but certainly not someone evil. Wait, why was she even thinking all this?

Silly, over-active imagination.

Dani walked in to the classroom. She was about to greet the professor, but he did not look like one that would greet back. She looked for an empty seat. She found one towards the back of the class. She sat down as fast as she could.

This certainly was NOT her Head of House. Certainly, certainly not. But nevertheless Lorelai grinned at the Professor, gave him a little wave and quickly darted her eyes around the classroom. Where to sit? Such a hard decision.

Taking a seat, the second row back, Lorelai gave the professor one more wave, and fiiiinally settled back in her seat. Hehe. She was totally good at being friendly to Professors.

OHAI, shiiiiiiny shoe.

Jake entered the arithmancy class. Substitute, oh no... as long as its not another 'Lord Borr'. Jake nodded to the 'Professor' person and sat down in his seat. This might be...interesting

Ok the guy was officially weird. But Dylan was ok with that. He smied as Gold floated into the room. She was like a breath of fresh air. And then Raiden entered. Yay. Raiden came and sat next to him. He had a friend. And a girlfriend. The world was good.

Crispy turned around and picked up the self-squeaking chalk. He wrote his name on the blackboard, the chalk squeaking loudly and obstinately as it moved against the board, effectively silencing all.... well they were being pretty silent already, weren't they? Nevertheless, the squeak was rather efficient at catching attention. He wrote his name on the board.

“Everyone seated? Good. Today we are going to discuss a form of grid arithmancy, specifically the Arrows of Pythagoras. To start with, and I expect all second through seventh years to know the answer to this question; who is Pythagoras?” He turned to face the class and crossed his arms across his chest expectantly.

Gold raised a hand. "He was an Ionian Greek philosopher, sir," she said politely. "Founder of a movement called Pythagoreanism. He thought numbers to be the 'ultimate reality.' His disciples believed that everything was related to mathematics, in fact."

"He invented the Pythagorean theory of triangles," Dylan said, raising his hand. "To do with right angles."

Lucille was pretty sure her ears were about to implode.

"Gahhhh!" Lucille quickly slapped her hands over her mouth to cover her shout, but it was too late. Who had chalk that made THAT noise?

Creepy, army professors, that's who.

Oooh, she knew this. SHE KNEW THIS!!

Her hand shot up in the air. "Erm, he's that bloke." she said, nodding matter of factly. "Didn't he make a triangle or something? With all the numbers and charts and whatnot. And then he sat in a bath, and that's why we say URIKA!"

CHEAH!

This guy was certainly interesting. "Pythagoras was someone who pretty much believed that everything was related to mathematics. He was a greek philosopher, and a great mathematician, and he was also, I believe, called the father of numbers or something like that. And...something about the Pythagorean theorem." she said after raising her hand. This was going to be a loooong class. Now she just had to read up again on Pythagoras since that was all she could remember about him....eeeh.
