Destiny shrugged her shoulders. 'I have no idea, but I know how not to do it.' She glanced in the direction of the group that started the fire. 'I think this is going to be a very dangerous class.'

"Meee up to something, never, I'm not so sure about you though," Zoe responded slyly. "I think that we are actually waiting for further instructions from Professor Svensson."

After a quick glance about the room to see whether the professor was getting ready to start, Zoe looked intently at Josh trying her best to look serious and disappointed almost bordering on anger, "Wait a minute, you aren't intensely fascinated with this class?" her face almost lost it's stony facade, but she was able to hold it together, continuing, "I only asked you to be my partner because you said that you were 'perfect'! Well sir, I think that it might be your responsibility to find me a suitable replacement." Crossing her arms across her chest she tried to hold her face still, but the smile that was dying to get out started to creep up into her eyes.

"That's enough talking," Svensson told the class sternly. Apparently they had not understood his request for minimal talking. Well, if they were all noisy, that must be a sign that everybody had a partner. Time to move on.

"Now to learn the spell. As I mentioned earlier, the incantation for this particular spell is 'deprimo.' Practice saying it. And if you hear your partner mispronouncing it, politely correct them. Politely." Svensson wrote the spell in large letters on the board, after (of course) erasing the previous list. As an afterthought, he added, "Keep your wands on your desk so there are no accidents."

Evelyn smirked as she looked over to where Destiny glanced at, seeing a group that started a fire. "Well in that case, this class just got 100% more exciting." Twirling her wand in her hand, she looked towards the professor, waiting for the queue where they could start practicing.

Lorcan set his wand down, blushing. Clearly the professor was angry with him for setting the plank on fire. He raised his hand, "Excuse me sir, I think we might need a new plank."

"Well he looks OK to me. I sure hope him and that Gryffindor are done messing around, don' t they realize they could have hurt someone practing like that without the professors permission" Marie said as she looked back over at the two and the mess they had created in their area.

"Do you want to try the incantation first or should I?" Marie asked Kay after she listened to the professor give the instructions.

"You can come up and get another plank once we get started with the actual spell," Svensson told the boy. "You'll need it to practice, but you'll be fine without a new plank until then." He was not even going to ask what had happened to their plank that he had not noticed during the cacophony of students claiming partners.

Kay felt her face turning red. Why was Marie being mean. Lorcan hadn't might to do it wrong and the Gryffindor was to busy playing with her stupid hair. "I know they should have waited but at least they were trying." Kay said to Marie through her teeth.

"Yes sir" Lorcan replied meekly, waiting for the professor to dock some points from him.
He turned to Alexandra "I think you'd better go first."

Destiny returned the smirk. 'Definitely exciting!' She faced the professor when he started to speak. So just practicing the spell. She made sure she put her wand on the table before she practiced. 'Deprimo, deprimo, deprimo. Seems easy enough!'

"Deprimo." she said lazily. Once they actually started practicing, she would pronounce the word more clearly, but for now, that's all it's going to get. "Oh oops..." Putting her wand down on the table, she said the spell again. "Deprimo. Yup, easy as pie."

"You are definitely not the only one, Lorcan." she said with a smile. She had to sigh, she was put out with her clumsiness.

"Okay. I am just going to practice the incantation first." she said to Lorcan. Reaching into her bag she pulled out a hair band and quickly thre her hair up into a messy bun and then took a deep breath. Smiling at him she said, "Deprimo."

For some reason, the class didn't seem too enthusiastic about repeating an incantation until they got it right. Maybe if he switched things up a bit and went in a different order when they learned the next spell...

"Now for the wand movement!" Svensson clapped his hands to get the class's attention again. "It's a fairly simple movement, once you get the hang of it," he said, demonstrating. "Just a sort of chopping with your wand hand." The professor did a sort of karate chop with his wand, demonstrating for a second time in case anyone had missed his first demonstration.

"You try. Without saying or thinking the incantation. Just try the chopping wand movement."

Alexandra turned and watched the Professor demonstrate the wand movement... Yikes! No wonder she and Lorcan had had a rough time of it.

She did just as the professor did several times until she felt confident with herself. SHe glanced around the room at the other students and smiled a bit and pushed a stray bit of hair behind her ear. She went back to karate chopping with her wand.

"That was good, my turn. Deprimo"

Lorcan picked up his wand gingerly and then gripped it properly. He brought down through the air as the professor had. "Did that look right?" He asked Alexandra.

Alexandra smiled at her partner and nodded encouragingly. He was really very good at this! "Well done!" she said beaming at him. She tried the wand movement again and giggled a bit. She continued "karate chopping" with her wand and giggling. Just then her wand slipped out of her hand and bounced across the floor emitting a little spark. Thank Merlin she didn't catch anything on fire! She scurried over to her wand and retrieved it as quickly as possible hoping that no one saw her.

Blushing deeply she returned to Lorcan's side and mumbled, "See, I am an accident waiting to happen meself." She gripped her wand super tight and tried again.

'Great, now I want pie!' Destiny laughed while picking up her wand. Now the wand movement. Destiny did it a couple of times just as the professor showed them, making sure she didn't even think the spell. When she thought she had it down, she dropped her hands to her sides waiting to begin.

And there went the first dropped wand. "Careful, there," the professor cautioned. He didn't want all his furniture to burn. If the furniture burned, someone might get hurt.

"I think most of you have gotten the hang of it." Lars addressed the class, hoping they would stop practicing the wand movement to listen. "Now, this is the most important part of the next step. In your pairs or groups of three, I want only one person at a time to be practicing the spell. Take turns. Understood?"

Without waiting for an answer, Svensson held out a plank to the boy who had asked for a new one before. "If you don't have any questions, you may begin practicing carefully. If you do have a question, raise your hand and I'll answer." If there were lots of questions, people would have to wait. But the students would realize that, he was certain. They were generally rather bright.

Alexandra blushed even deeper, if that were possible. She mumbled, "Very sorry, Professor. I will be more careful." She looked at Lorcan and tried to smile but she really felt like hiding under a rock right about now.

Kay looked at Marie and told her that she would go first. "Deprimo!" Kay said. She did the spell a few times before trying her wand. The movement was easy enough. "Ok, Marie your turn, give it a go." Kay said smiling.

Evelyn laughed when Destiny said she wanted pie, but then quieted to a chuckle when the professor spoke. 'Great! We can start now.' Standing to the side, she gestured to Destiny. "Do you want to go first?"

"Not bad Kay" Marie said as she got ready to practice. "Deprimo.....Deprimo.....Deprimo" After saying the spell a few times she picked up her wand and practiced the movement without saying anything. She gave her wand a quick chopping action like she was actually trying to break the plank in half. "What do you think Kay, think we are ready to give it a try?" Marie asked as she put her wand back on the desk.

"Thank you sir" Lorcan took the new plank from the professor and set it up read to try out the spell again.

Lorcan realised that Alexandra had dropped her wand. "Don't worry about it, we're here to get better at this stuff." he smiled at her.

Alexandra smiled weakly and drooped her shoulders. She was pretty good at magic when she wasn't dropping her wand or tripping over her own two feet. She was determined to make up for the mistakes today though. She took a deep breath and said, "Do you want to go first, or should I?" She eyed him questioningly biting her bottom lip.

Still dreaming about the pie and thinking after class to go to the Great Hall to get some, she heard Evelyn speak. 'Okay, I'll go first.' Rolling up her sleeves, Destiny pointed her wand at the plank, made the chopping motion and exclaimed 'deprimo!' The plank had a hole in it! Picking up the plank and looking at Evelyn through the hole Destiny said 'You were right! Easy as pie! Alright, your turn.' And she set the plank back on the desks.
