"We could use a blasting charm on it and just hope it didn't blow up the peep too" Marie said as she raised her hand. 'Is that even possible to blast the board and not the peep?' Marie decided to just sit and listen to what the others had to say before she mentioned any more crazy ideas.

He was about to say something, but once Evelyn said something- he shut his mouth. "Yeah- wow, that sounds a lot better then what I was going to say." he said, nodding to her. "I think we should do that too." he said to the professor.

"We could take a muggle saw or hammer to break it," Rafe suggested with his hand in the air. He couldn't believe he didn't answer the first questions. "Or you could use the spell Bombarda and blast the thing!" Rafe smiled at the idea. Explosions always made things more fun.

Herminny concentrated on the current question and looked through all the spells in her book till she found one that could work. Ahe raised her hand and said, "You could cast Diffindo on the board which would severs the object it is cast upon so I imagine that would cut the wood and then peep would fall landing on you're desk sir.".

"You could gouge a hole in the board with defodio." Cela suggested with her hand raised.

Lorcan had listened to the question and answer session and was struck by a silly idea. Or was it?

He took a deep breath and raised his hand. "Excuse me Professor, could you transfigure it into a woodpecker, so that it pecks through the plank and then when it falls onto the desk, transfigure it back into a marshmallow?

He blushed furiously at having spoken such a daft sounding idea outloud.

Satine shot her hand in the air, "We could use a charm to slam it into the wall hard enough it shatters...." she said hopefully.

Kay was sitting there trying think of something to say when she heard Lorcan's answer. "wow, that was a good idea." She thought to herself. She hadn't seen Lorcan come into the room.

Kylie raised her hand,

"Well. I mean..." Kylie was stuck, she had no idea what the Professor wanted her to say. "Could you transfigure the peep into a saw, cut the board, then transfigure it back into a peep so it lands on the desk?" It was a weak idea, but hey, it was an idea nonetheless. And..Kylie was only a first year.

Matheu was silent. He had some ideas on how to remove the peep, but he was writing them down in his notebook.

Kay smiled at Kylie's idea. Gee, both her friends had good ideas. Kay had nothing. She wished she could think of something. The last idea she had stated the professor didn't seem to like.

LouAnn studied the little peep on a plank for quite some time before deciding to speak up and share a possible answer. The peep looked like an odd little creature, but it looked yummy, nonetheless. She'd daydreamed about it for quite some time and had even joked to herself about eating the peep, then walking to the desk yourself in order to get the eaten peep there.

They'd moved on to the plank now, though, it seemed, and apparently they were meant to be finding ways to get the peep through the plank and onto the desk. Raising her hand, she said, "We could use Evanesco on the plank to cause it to disappear entirely." There'd one less plan in the world, but the peep on a plank problem would be solved.

Jack raised his hand and offered, 'You could transfigure the board into a bunch of dandelion puffballs and they'd just float away.'

Oh crap. Lyddia was thinking about turning the board into an animal so the-wait, that didn't work.
Unless the animal happened to throw the peep off. That could work.

But to break the board.

Lyddia sat and listened to all the student's answers. They were pretty good, but Lyddia would not have thought of them herself. And she couldn't think of a new idea either.

She sighed and sat back in her chair.
Then suddenly, a thought occured to her. The answer had to be the reason why the window is open.

Getting excited, Lyddia figured she could get the answer from that.
But, alas, no.
Hmm, Lyddia thought. I suppose blasting...would need open windows....no that's stupid. Hmm. It also has to have something to do with Transfiguration...

Lyddia didn't think she was at her best today. She felt a little groggy and couldn't exactly concentrate. Maybe the answer was right in front of her. She wouldn't know. She had to get more focused.

Come on, Lyddie.

K raised her hand,"Professor I agree with blasting it I think that would be the best way to break the board." K also though to herself that would be fun as well.

"You could transfigure the board into like a leaf or something and let it fall to the desk?" Alexandra said with a hint of question in her voice. She wasn't quite sure of herself on this one.

Oh, oops. Apparently they were supposed to be discussing ways to break the board. LouAnn glanced forward and read what the professor had written on the board. Vanish was even already up there. Ahhh, leave it to LouAnn to get distracted in class once again.

Feeling as if she needed to at least try and make up for her mistake, LouAnn raised her hand again. "Sorry, Professor. Ways to break the board---right. Okay, so, maybe we could transform the board into more of a bridge-like object...one that opens and closes in the middle. That would drop the peep onto the desk, too," she suggested.

You could use the Deprimo Charm. It would blast a hole in the board. You could use it repeatedly until the board breaks.

Alexandra swept her long blonde hair over her shoulder and looked around the room trying to think of other ways to break the board... "Maybe you could just blast it to Kingdom Come and be done with it" she thought to herself.

Lorcan could see kay sitting a few desks in front of him. He had liked her first suggestion and wondered what she was thinking now.

Lorcan looked at the girl who was sitting next to him. The autumn sunlight was making her blond hair gleam like silver. She sounded slightly uncertain about her answer, just like him. He was glad that he wasn't the only one.

Alexandra caught the eye of the boy next to her and nodded in encouragement. He had a great idea, in her opinion. She smiled at him and mouthed Good job!. Then let her gaze drop, turning a bit pink in the cheeks.

"Well, maybe... but I don't know karate, personally. I'm not sure I'd be able to break the plank that way."


Lars nodded as he listened to all the other answers. "All are very good ideas. For the purposes of this class, though, we'll be using the spell 'deprimo' to, basically, magically karate-chop the wood," Svensson explained to the class.

"Can I have a volunteer?"

Alexandra raised her hand and mumbled, "I'll be your volunteer" and rose from her seat.

Looking at Kay, Marie nervously raised her hand and said "I'll volunteer professor". 'What the heck, I can't do any worse than fail at it' she thought to herself as she slowly put her hand down.

"Very good!" Professor Svensson lifted two small boxes from the floor and handed one to Alexandra and one to Marie. "Pass these out--one of each to everybody. Everybody, when you get your gloves, one left and one right, from these two, set your wand on your desk and put the gloves on."
