Lorcan blushed furiously as Alexandra hugged him. "Oh, well, umm, y'know... Your turn." His voice was husky and odd. He was never quiet sure what to do around girls who acted like that.

"See, you can make a big hole too." He grinned shiftly, staring at the floor.

Alexandra was mentally berating herself for hugging Lorcan like that. She just can't control her joy sometimes and she does silly things.... Eep!

She tried to just carry on as though nothing had happened whatsoever. "Lorcan, you give it a go now! I bet the plank breaks soon!" Alexandra encouraged him. She was sure liking this kid, they could be good friends... as long as that friend of his would stay out of it. She got the impression that she was not happy about Lorcan being someone else's friends by the way she kept eyeing him and Alexandra. Oh well, I'll try to be nice about it Alexandra told herself.

"Oh, yeah alright. Deprimo!" he made the karate chopping movement again, but his voice was sort of strangled and the hole was sort of small. He looked at Alexandra and grinned "Do you think the professor will be giving out prizes for the smallest possible hole?" He laughed, proud that he had managed to make a joke instead of getting embarrassed.

They weren't progressing as quickly as Professor Svensson had hoped. Pacing the front of the room, he decided to give them a few more minutes to practice. Then he needed to move on, to a class discussion.

Kay looked back at her friend when she heard him laugh. 'Thats great, Lorcan needs to laugh.' Kay thought to herself. Kay looked at the Gryffindor girl and realize that she was looking at her as well. Kay smiled a little and turned back to Marie. Why was she looking at Kay in the first place. The girl didn't look like she like Kay very much, and Kay didn't know why when she hadn't even meet her.

Alexandra laughed at Lorcan and actually snorted a bit. How embarassing!! She blushed again and covered her mouth and nose with her hand for a moment and then said, "Excuse me! I tend to do that when I get to laughing. Don't you worry at all Lorcan, this is a huge step up from setting anything on fire!" She was teasing him and trying to encourage him.

Preparing herself she sliced herwand throught the air in the chopping motion and said, "Deprimo" with more volume in her voice than usual. To her surprise the peep fell through the plank. The hole she just made was right at the perfect spot where they had already made a couple of holes. She jumped up and down and clapped excitedly.

"What, oh yeah, sorry, got a little distracted by what is happening around the room." Marie said as she brought her attention back to Kay and their own plank. Looking at the plank she realized Kay had blasted a pretty small hole in the board. "Good job Kay, you didn't blow it to pieces" she said as she looked around the room again thankful that they hadn't set anything on fire or completely blown anything up. Just then Marie had an idea. She pulled her camera out and decided to take a picture for her Muggle Studies homework. 'I know there has to be something in this room that is funny enough to take a picture of.'

As Marie looked around the room some more for a great photo shoot her gaze stopped at a young slytherin and a gryffindor who were covered in dust. Looking at their table she noticed that there was nothing left of their plank except the dust that now covered the two girls and their table. 'This is it, this will make a great picture' she thought. She quickly snapped the photograph before the girls had a chance to clean themselves up. "Oh this picture is going to be great for Muggle Studies" she told Kay as she turned back around to her own table.

Kay turned to look at what Marie had taken a picture of. 'Oh, the poor girls were covered in saw dust.' Kay thought and smiled a little. "You should have asked first." Kay said to Marie. "Good hole thou." Kay moved her wand and did the spell. "Look a nice hole this time." kay said not even realizing the little peep fell though the hole.

Retrieving her wand and gloves from her pocket she placed her wand on the table and remembered that she was supposed to have her gloves on. Slipping them on she did her best to start practicing the spell, “Deprimo, deprimo, deprimo, deprimo.”

Then picking up her wand she started chopping it through the air almost like a meat cleaver. It felt odd to be moving her wand like this, like she was trying to hurt the wood, desperately trying to ignore how silly she felt doing it. At least everyone else was practicing as well.

"Ugghh, I guess I will just have to settle with you then. You better not disappoint, " Zoe replied trying her best to give him the evil eye. "You are setting the bar pretty high for yourself with all of that 'I'm so wonderful' talk. You better be careful, you know they say the higher they rise the harder they fall," she added with a devilish smirk.

Wait a minute, did he just threaten to kiss her. No no he couldn't have, that was ridiculous, no one really wanted to do that with her. He must have been really trying to pull one over on her. When she realized how much he must have been teasing her, the color in Zoe's cheeks quickly rose to a bright magenta.

Looking at him with a shocked look on her face she turned abruptly brought her wand up and sliced it down quickly almost shouting, "Deprimo." The wood cracked loudly and split in two falling to the floor with a clatter. There was a sizeable half sized hole through each broken end of the plank. 'Humph, that ought to show him,' she thought to herself. Without looking back she retrieved one piece of the wood board, pushed the desks a little closer together, and balanced the damaged piece in the middle. Finally turning back towards him she gave him a look that said, 'Let's see what you've got' her contoured eyebrow raising slightly over one dark blue lens.

Lorcan laughed loudly. "You're right. I suppose I should be pleased!"

Lorcan watched as Alexandra cast the spell perfectly. "Wow! that was really cool! Well done!" He patted her on the arm again. Right, he thought if she can do it I can do it. He cleared his throat, grasped his wand tightly and said "Deprimo!" with conviction, slashing his wand through the air. The marshmallow fell through the hole he had created like a block into a shape sorter. He looked at Alexandra and grinned widely, half hoping she would huge him again.

Alexandra liked to make people laugh, it made her feel good and she got the impression that Lorcan needed a good laugh. She drew in a deep breath when Lorcan got ready to cast the spell.

She was plesantly surprised with the conviction in which he said the incantation and the confidence he showed when he cast. She beamed at him when the marshmallow fell through the plank and she bounded over and gave him a quick squeeze to show him congratulations.

Lorcan blushed slightly when Alexandra hugged him again. "Cheers," he said shyly.

Alexandra blushed also and quickly backed away. THere she went again hugging someone who was practically a stranger! She did smile brightly at him and say, "Sorry. I'm a hugger." Alexandra couldn't help it, she busted out laughing then!

"If I would have asked first that would have ruined the element of surprise. Professor Dumont said he wanted us to take pictures of people not expecting it, he said those would be the most challenging. If I ask first then they will expect it, thus the challenge is gone." She whispered back to Kay as she looked to make sure Professor Svennson wasn't looking at her, not wanting to get caught chatting about non-class related things.
"Hey look, you made the peep fall through. At least one of us finally hit the right spot on the plank." Marie said as she looked for the peep on the desk. "I think we have both got the idea of how to do this pretty good now, I think we can stop and wait to see what the professor wants us to do next. Unless you want to try again, but we will have to get anther plank because this one doesn't seem to have much room left for anymore holes."

Kay listened to Marie about the pictures, then she looked down at the peep. It had fell though. "I think we have got it." Kay said to Marie. "I can get a new plank if you want, but the professor will more then likely be moving on."

Lorcan laughed with Alexandra. "I don't mind." he had said it before he had thought about it. Did he mind a pretty girl hugging him? Apparently not.

Alexandra blushed and said, "Well, I am glad you don't mind Because I do it before I realize it may be inappropriate sometimes." She giggled hysterically (a few little snorts came out) with her new buddy.

"Sure" Tavelon said as she sat down. He ran over the incantation in his head again, just to be sure he had it right. "Deprimo!" he said, slicing his wand down through the air. Instantly his plank exploded, a small hole carved into the center. Tavelon blinked and stared at it. "Um... Did that work?" he asked. He took out his Standard book of spells and flipped through it, sure enough 'deprimo' was used to blast holes in things. Tavelon smiled, this was cool.

Nataly snapped out of her euphoria when she heard a creak, quieter than her. She looked at the plank, and saw that it had a little crack there.
"Congrats, Lyra!" She congratulated her. "Try again, I already finished my work." she looked exitedly at her broken plank.

Arianna pointed her wand at the wooden plank, again, since Fred didn't seem like doing it any time soon and tried it one more time. This time, the plank divided itself in two, or almost, being only held by a fine piece of wood. "YEES!" she said and punched the air, victorious. She meant to give Theo a celebration hug, but quickly retracted " I did it!" she said laughing.

K wanted to try one more time before her partner. She took her wand and yelled the spell "Deprimo" out to the plank and this time the board shattered into two pieces. "wow that is so cool" k yelled out she was excited.

Carter took his turn at the board. He made the karate-chop movement. Deprimo. he said and watched as the board split right done the middle.

After watching Tavelon try the spell, she was a bit shocked that he looked happy with the result. There was a hole in the wood but it wasn’t split in half, and she didn’t know where the peep had ended up.

“Erm...no it didn’t work, you’re meant to split the board in half not put a hole in it...sorry.” She gave him a little smile before heading to get another peep at the front of the room. Whilst she was there she picked up another boarded and moved back to Tavelon. “I don’t know how to fix it; I don’t think the professor told us how did he?”

Deciding it was best to ask first she put her hand up and turned to the professor “Are we learning how to fix the boards, or are we just to take a new one each time?”

Theo cheered, "Well done." And then she went to hug him. What was wrong with girls? Why do they keep hugging him, or hurting him? Girls were weird. Except Fia. She was lovely.

Arianna smiled " Now it's your turn, goooo Theo!" she cheered
