As you step into the transfiguration classroom for Professor Svensson’s first lesson of the term, it appears at first to be an average classroom. Desks with their chairs are arranged in several rows of semicircles facing the front of the room, where the professor’s desk is covered with several open books and stacks of parchment. Along the walls of the classroom, stacks of boxes stand ready to be used in class, but don’t touch them! The professor himself is not yet present, but he has left a message on the board:

Bonnie nodded, embarresed.
She had been sort of out of it all day.
Though, even with all her troubles, she whipped out her wand.
"It's pretty easy, you think of the feather in your mind, and that you are turning it to stone, it helps you aim you see, than you jab your wand at it and say 'Duro'," Mikaela said and smiled at Bonnie.

"Oh sure, I guess it can't hurt to practice" Marie said as she looked at the others. She jabbed her wnd at her feather and said "Flexi" turning it from stone back to its soft feather form. She then looked at the feather lying there and just as quickly said "DURO" with so much force the feather slid across the floor a few inches as it turned to stone yet once again. Smiling at what she had done Marie turned to Kay and said "Your turn, lets see how you do this time."
Kay hearing the challage in Marie vioce yet again. Was there something Kay had said or done to make Marie want to challage her. "Ok, I'll give it another go." Kay said. Turning to get the feather Kay look at Kita with the word Help in her eyes. Why was Marie so bent on this. Marie was smiling at her now, but with a little smile in her eyes. "Flexi." Kay said and moved the feather back to where it was. Kay thought if she did put to much power into it this time Marie would just like it go. "Duro!" the feather tund to stone and stayed where it was.
"I don't mind at all a little help, just let me try again " she turned the hardish feather back to it's normal state and stared at it with her eyes narrow and a wrinkle on her forehead, she did what Kay told her to do, she thought of the spell and the effect harder than ever.. Stone.. A feather made out of stone.. STONE!, then she jabbed her wand again and said "Duro!" once more, with such determination she felt that this time she had done it right even before checking it. She could feel the wand obey her, and the spell flood through the wooden stick.
She knelt again near the feather and pocked it with a finger. Pure, hard stone. She smiled proud of herself. Eat that Paola! she thought, remembering how her sister bragged about learning everything fast as an owl.
While Ari was raving about turning her feather to stone, Rafe thought he would have a little fun from the corner. "Flexi!" he said under his breath as he cast the spell at her feather. Hoping it turned back to normal. He chuckled under his breath, and positioned himself so he wasn't really seen.
He practiced a bit on this own by himself turning the stone back and forth between stone and normal. He felt like it was getting old and even yawned a bit, but thought the spell was fascinating nonetheless.

Tammy chuckled softly. "Nice to meet you William." Tammy nodded and followed Lucy's feather with her eyes.
EH. Nothing.
Another soft chuckle left her lips and Tammy shook her head as she assisted Lucy, her hand placed on top of Lucys as she took a position just behind her. "Jab it, dont thrust it forward. Jab it, pretend someone you RRREALLY hate is at the other end and you are jabbing them with your wand."
Quickly jolting both of their hands forward Tammy nodded. "See. Just add the words to it, and your good to go."
She smiled softly and let go of Lucys hand and watched.
"It's pretty easy, you think of the feather in your mind, and that you are turning it to stone, it helps you aim you see, than you jab your wand at it and say 'Duro'," Mikaela said and smiled at Bonnie.
"Thanks!" Bonnie said. "DURO!" Bonnie japped the feather and it turned grey with a few points here and there.
Anna looked at the feather. She poked it with her wand. "Duro." She looked down again but there was no stone feather. Instead, there was an egg with tiny stick-like legs. "Professor? Something's wrong." The egg started to run off the table. Anna caught it but it kept moving in her fists. She started panicing. TT7TT' "What do I do now?"
"Thanks!" Bonnie said. "DURO!" Bonnie japped the feather and it turned grey with a few points here and there.
"That's good!" Mikaela said, sounding like a teacher. She susally did that when she got a bit excited.
"Just concentrate a bit more and you got it!" She said again.

"That's good!" Mikaela said, sounding like a teacher. She susally did that when she got a bit excited.
"Just concentrate a bit more and you got it!" She said again.
Bonnie smiled.
Mikaela meened well but Bonnie felt as though she was being treated like a baby. "DURO!" Bonnie shouted with frustration.
The feather turned to rock.
Bonnie smiled proudly as though the lump of rock was her son just after winning a football match.
While Ari was raving about turning her feather to stone, Rafe thought he would have a little fun from the corner. "Flexi!" he said under his breath as he cast the spell at her feather. Hoping it turned back to normal. He chuckled under his breath, and positioned himself so he wasn't really seen.

Arianna blinked in confusion. Her feather had been hard stone just two minutes ago, and now it was again... feather? Poked it with her wand and it was definitely soft again. She jabbed her wand at the feather again, completely oblivious to the fact that someone had cast a spell on it to make it turn back to it's normal shape "DURO!" she exclaimed, and poking the feather again she noticed it was stone again.

Something's wrong." The egg started to run off the table. Anna caught it but it kept moving in her fists. She started panicing. TT7TT' "What do I do now?"
Akihiko saw Anna struggling. "Open your hands." She did what he said and then bopped it hardly on the head. It didn't crack but it stopped moving and was lying down. He then turned to his feather. "Duro!" It turned grey completely, but when his hand touched it, it exploded. Well, not exploded but there was an small explosion and the stone feather was still intact. He blew out some soot. "Stupid Europe." he muttered under his breath.
Tiberius jumped up and down and clapped for Sarah when she turned her feather to stone. "That was brilliant!" Looking back at his own feather, he noticed it looked normal again. The spell had worn off on it's own.
Tiberius focused on changing it again. He imagined the appearance shifting and how it would feel when he picked it up. It will look like stone. It will be heavy. It will be stiff. It will look like stone.
Furrowing his brow, he lifted his wand. With a quick jab toward the feather, he yelled "Duro!" Watching intently as its appearance shifted again, Tibi ran over to it and tried to pick it up. It felt heavy and cool in his hand. He'd done it!
"Sarah! Sarah, I did it!" Tibi lifted the feather and called to his partner. He was positively giddy. "Should we change them back, now?"
Sarah couldn't help but feel a little bit proud of herself, she didn't have people telling her she'd done something brilliant very often.Especially from someone who was so enthusiastic about it.Still grinning like an idiot, she winked at Tibi and gave him a mock curtsey, with a "Thank you,Sir." thrown in.Then she got back to the task of watching him try again.
The concentration on his face was amazing, he almost looked to be going cross-eyed with it.Sarah gazed at the feather as Tibi said the spell, and the same thing happened as last time....it looked like stone, but was it? Holding her breath as he went to pick it up, she waited for his reaction, and to her delight it was a positive one. "Fantastic!!" she replied to him, clapping her hands loudly, "you're good. But I suppose you ARE a Ravenclaw after all." Giving a playful nudge as she stepped up beside him, Sarah looked down at the stone in their hands. "Umm are we supposed to? I think Professor Svensson just said to turn them to stone, did he say to turn them back too?" She was confused, the minute Sensson had said about finding partners she switched off slightly....
Kay looked around and couldn't see anything out of the normal. "I think someone is messing with you Arianna." Kay said. "I don't understand why the feather keeps changeing by itself." She said looking at the feather. "Let me try" Kay said
Bonnie smiled.
Mikaela meened well but Bonnie felt as though she was being treated like a baby. "DURO!" Bonnie shouted with frustration.
The feather turned to rock.
Bonnie smiled proudly as though the lump of rock was her son just after winning a football match.
"You did it!" Mikaela said and smiled widely at Bonnie.
She reached out and showed her marble-feather.
She smiled again, but quickly realized that she maybe was acting like a grown-up. She remembered that she'd made it on her frist try, and slowly felt her face get hotter and hotter. I must look like a tomato! She thought to herself.

Oh. She had a good point. Tibi had no idea if they were supposed to or not.
"Hmmm.. actually, I don't know. But we can't practice any more with these... since they're stone already. How would we know if it worked?" He pondered the situation and bit his lip in thought.
"I guess we would wait for it to wear off... it couldn't have been too strong since we're both new at this, right?"

William couldn't help but grin a bit as she sang his name, making him feel more at ease than before. One thing he liked about her, she didn't hold grudges. "Great, thanks." he replied, watching her look in the box and have a disgusted look on her face. Did she have a problem with the feathers he wondered briefly, gazing into the box himself and seeing the inconspicuous feathers smiling back at him. They looked normal, but what if they came alive and bit him, that would hurt!
Turning to the other girl as she introduced herself he smiled, chuckling a bit as she held out the feather filled hand, "Nice to meet you Tammy, I'm William." he replied, nodding to her with a glint in his eye. He was getting rather nervous now as she handed him a feather. Looking it over, as if daring it to attack he said, "Thanks." in a soft voice before glancing at Lucy again curiously. He then watched as Lucy walked over to an empty area, nearly getting hit by a spell. "Woah watch it!" he said in a bit of a rush, imagining her turned to stone. So not cool he thought following her.
Practice, they actually had to practice this spell. Something he was more nervous on than getting in trouble. Well, his biggest fear hadn't come to light, but it almost had and he was on a thin string with Svensson already so he knew the risks more than anyone. "Okay, who wants to go first?" He asked, looking from Lucy to Tammy and back again. Please don't say me he thought mildly. Lucy then went ahead and went first and he watched as she tried performing the spell. "You'll get it. Just concentrate, empty your mind. That's what my cousin said to do before casting." he said in a soft voice.

Rawr. Lucy took in what William and Tammy had both said, and repeated it over and over in her mind. Empty the mind, and focus. Jab your wand. Right. Jab. Empty. Empty. Jab. She took a deep breath, and tried to think of anything, especially of her potentially incoming failure in this class. Okay, get that thought out!! OUUUUT!! She closed her eyes, and took another deep breath, releasing it a few seconds later, and opened her eyes.
She stared at the feather as though it were her enemy...her enemy of...ORANGE-NESS. Oh, how she looooathed the color orange. Eat this you vile feather of orangeness!!
"DURO!!" As soon as she cast the spell, she shut her eyes immediately, and covered her face with her hands. Moving two of her fingers apart, she peeked out the space between her fingers to see whether it had turned to stone. BLINK. BLINK. Did it? It looked like it did, but she could be so sure.
"Did it...did...did it work?!" she asked quietly.

Watching carefully as Lucy took her turn again and smirking as she closed her eyes he watched her jab the wand and say the spell. the spell seemed to hit and it looked like it worked to him but it didn't look exactly like Svensson's did. "You almost got it that time. It looks like a stone at least, well to me it does." he replied grinning.

She grabbed her father and turned around, making sure that she can see if anyone is having their wand pointed at any of them. She decided to see if someone was messing with Marie only or if the whole group was targeted. "Duro!" she said with a lot of force. The feather changed and she prodded it. Yep she thought. It was stone cold. She looked around quickly. Everyone was solidifying their own feathers. She frowned and turned back to her feather, changing it into it's usual soft form before looking around again...

Professor Svensson had begun walking through the room, trying to stay out of the way, once everyone had a partner. Most of them seemed to have gotten the hang of turning at least feathers into stone. They could probably move on to something denser, soon...

"What's wrong!" Svensson scurried over to the girl who had caught his attention. When he saw the egg with legs, though, the man paused and stared at it for a moment. How on earth did something like that happen. Holding out a hand for the girl to hand him the weird egg, the transfiguration professor scratched his head with the tip of his wand, trying to decide what to do with the peculiar object. "Get another feather and try again is all I can say," he told the girl.
Raising his voice so the whole class could hear him over the cacophony of spellwork, Professor Svensson announced, "Once you have successfully transfigured your feather into stone, you can get a peep from the box to the left of the feather box..." A flick of his wand levitated a box from the back wall to the front of the room, and it landed directly where he had said it would be. "Or you can get something else from the box to the right of the feathers." Another spell, and Svensson magicked another box, this one filled with small, non-dangerous household objects, to the front of the room. "And please keep the talking among yourselves to a minimum so you can concentrate on your spellwork and not making a dangerous mistake."
