As you step into the transfiguration classroom for Professor Svensson’s first lesson of the term, it appears at first to be an average classroom. Desks with their chairs are arranged in several rows of semicircles facing the front of the room, where the professor’s desk is covered with several open books and stacks of parchment. Along the walls of the classroom, stacks of boxes stand ready to be used in class, but don’t touch them! The professor himself is not yet present, but he has left a message on the board:

"Well this is a start!" she said shrugging her shoulders and looking at Kay " Your turn now!" and then she turned to another girl Kita, that Marie had just introduced to them, she waved at her " Hi Kita!" she looked around, all girls, yeah, female power! And she punched the air with a laugh.
"Good job Arianna, a couple more tries and you will have that feather turned into a stone hard enough to pop someones eye out with. Although I don't think I would recommed doing that here in class." Marie looked at Kay who was rather quiet right now. No need in trying to scare her off today, she still had a story that Marie wanted to get out of her.
Arianna chuckled at Marie's comment and nodded her head in agreement " you're right on that, it wouldn't really be recommendable to do that, not at least in class..." she added in a whisper with a crooked smile, she the turned and waited for someone else to try so she could see what she might be doing wrong.

Okay what was it with every class needing partners? Wasn't his experience with DADA enough to prove to the professors he couldn't work well with others? not that he didn't like working with others but it was the battle of the minds that got to him. Looking around he spotted Lucy working with someone else. Well Svensson did say to work in a group of three or four right? RIGHT?!
Making his mind up he wandered over to the small group, grinning a bit. "Hey, you guys want one more? I have no partner." he said, turning to Lucy with a sheepish smile before looking at the other girl with a friendly smile. Oh this was harder than he thought, what if the other girl was rude and said no, what if she knew about his experiment and called him on it.

GASP. Hey, look it was. "Willa-Willa-Willllliam!" she sang. Lucy noticed that he had no partners, and looked a bit shy in confronting herself and Tammy. Aw, poor kid. Why not add him to the group? He was nice, wouldn't cause trouble, probably would help her in this insane class she did horribley in...gah.
"Of coooourse! Join us!" Lucy said, motioning him to follow us. She reached into the box of feathers, suddenly withdrawing her hand. "Taaaammmmmyyyy. Get a third feather. I really think they're full of diseases!! Isn't there a way to sanitize them? Eeeeyuuuccck..." She continuously looked into the box, feeling a bit sickened by how many germs and viruses might be sleeping on each feather. That is just disgusting!!

Tammy chuckled softly and picked up two feathers, both fairly big in size, but not the biggest there. OHH LUUCYYY! "The feathers wont be ick and diseased. You haven't gotta stick them in your mouth have you? No. Don't compaine Luce." Tammy turned round form the box to see another face joining them.
"Sure we can make room for yah. I'm Tammy." She grinned, and went to stick her hand out, but realised the feathers were in that one. "Umm. 'nother feather?" She nodded quickly, turning swiftly to pick one up for the boy.
"Heeere yeh go," Tam sang as she handed one to Lucy and one to William.

Lucy nodded and felt tempted to trust Tammy. But...feathers. From potentially DEAD BIRDS. They wouldn't be dead if they weren't diseased, man!! THEY WOULD BE ALIIIIIVE!! But if she had to take the feather...
She sucked in her left hand and soon enough, it was buried in her sleeve. She then created a glove out of her sleeve and carefully grabbed the feather that Tammy offered to her. Eeeeewwww...ewww. EW. Closing her eyes, she turned around slowly and walked over the an area and...well, just to some area. She really had no clue where she was going and it wasn't until a spell almost her that she fell backward onto her bottom and and her eyes opened. She stared wide-eyed at the group of kids practicing their spells. Oops...
"That hurt. LET'S GET PRACTICING!!" she yelled out enthusiastically, and then picked up herself up quickly.

"Here we are" Tavelon said, returning with a box of feathers. He noticed that Kita had joined another group... but 2 was probably enough.
"Do you want to go first?"
Hmm. Good question. "I think you better go first," she said guiltily. "I havn't had much luck so far, i think i eed to see how the pro's do it." She smiled.

Collecting himself, he straightened up, pointing his wand at the feather, and jabbed at it sharply, saying "Duro!"
The feather hardened up and the barbs turned into stone. The shaft, however, was left snowy white.
"Flexo" he said, turning it back. At least the counterspell worked. But Tavelon wasn't quite an 'expert' as Lucille had said.

Great she thought. She prodded the feather with her wand and found it to still be soft. She tried it again. "Duro!" she said once again with a little more force. Nothing happened. Again. She prodded the feather with her wand again and found it to be soft but it seemed a little harder. Ok she thought Third time lucky! Kita looked at the feather and gave it a glare. You'd better turn hard or else! she thought. She said "Duro!" with so much force, she scared herself. She thought she saw a change in the feather. "Great job! It looks like we all have it down now." As Marie said this she noticed Kita and Destiny were no where to be found. "I think Kita must have decided to work with Destiny in their own group since our goup was so big." Marie sat there thinking about how great this class was going to be. Turning objects to stone on the 1st day she could only wonder what the next class would be like. Then there was the homework, what would we have to do for that? I hope it's nothing too big she thought, I would hate to carry a huge stone back to class with me next time.

Tammy snorted when Lucy fell over and scrappled to help the younger girl. "OHMI. I uh.. You okay?" She asked quickly hoisting her up.
BUT it appeared that Lucy wanted to get straight into the practical part.
"ER. Lucy, you go first yeah?" She chose the girl at random, because Tammy was NOT going to make a fool of herself first time round. And she wanted to get to know the boy who had joined their group.
"Anyone need a partner?" Bonnie asked in a shaky voice.
"Bonnie!" Mikaela exclaimed and walked up to her friend.
"Look!" She said and showed Bonnie her marble-feather.
"Want me to show you how to do it?"

"Look at mine!" She squeeled with happiness and showed Nataly her own marbel-feather.
Sara was impressed with Mikaela's feather. It was actually made out of marble! Sara wished her feather had turned into marble...

Lyra closed her eyes for a few moments, visioning the feather turning into stone. 'ok Ly, dont forget its Duro and not Duno....' she thought and opened her eyes. The slytherin made a jabbing motion with her wand while pointing it at the feather and shouted "DURO!" the feather was half stone, half feather. "aww man" she muttered looking at her stone-feather.
Sara knew that Lyra could do it.. "Just give it one more try," Sara said to Lyra, with a smile.

"Noooooo...I'm not okay." Lucy stared at Tammy, forcing back a laugh. "I'M BETTER THAN OKAY!! I'm INVINCIBLE!!" Yes, yes, she was invincible, strong, fool-hardy! Whatever that meant. She was unhurt. Except for the potential bruise spot on her right arm. Oh, well.
"Meeeee? Go first?!" But...she was horrible transfiguration! She didn't want to go first! But...oh, alright. She'll go first. Best to get her turn done with for now. Siiiiigh. Still holding the feather with her sleeve, she set it down and aimed her wand at it. Focusing on the spell and on the feather, she flicked her wand and yelled out "DURO!!"
Nothing happened.
"DUUUURROOO!" Still...nothing. "DURO!! DURO!! DUUUURO!" The feather moved perhaps a quarter of an inch each time, but still did not transform into stone. "I hate this..." she muttered.

She continuously looked into the box, feeling a bit sickened by how many germs and viruses might be sleeping on each feather. That is just disgusting!!

Tammy chuckled softly and picked up two feathers, both fairly big in size, but not the biggest there. OHH LUUCYYY! "The feathers wont be ick and diseased. You haven't gotta stick them in your mouth have you? No. Don't compaine Luce." Tammy turned round form the box to see another face joining them.
"Sure we can make room for yah. I'm Tammy." She grinned, and went to stick her hand out, but realised the feathers were in that one. "Umm. 'nother feather?" She nodded quickly, turning swiftly to pick one up for the boy.
"Heeere yeh go," Tam sang as she handed one to Lucy and one to William.

She sucked in her left hand and soon enough, it was buried in her sleeve. She then created a glove out of her sleeve and carefully grabbed the feather that Tammy offered to her. Eeeeewwww...ewww. EW. She stared wide-eyed at the group of kids practicing their spells. Oops...
"That hurt. LET'S GET PRACTICING!!" she yelled out enthusiastically, and then picked up herself up quickly.
William couldn't help but grin a bit as she sang his name, making him feel more at ease than before. One thing he liked about her, she didn't hold grudges. "Great, thanks." he replied, watching her look in the box and have a disgusted look on her face. Did she have a problem with the feathers he wondered briefly, gazing into the box himself and seeing the inconspicuous feathers smiling back at him. They looked normal, but what if they came alive and bit him, that would hurt!
Turning to the other girl as she introduced herself he smiled, chuckling a bit as she held out the feather filled hand, "Nice to meet you Tammy, I'm William." he replied, nodding to her with a glint in his eye. He was getting rather nervous now as she handed him a feather. Looking it over, as if daring it to attack he said, "Thanks." in a soft voice before glancing at Lucy again curiously. He then watched as Lucy walked over to an empty area, nearly getting hit by a spell. "Woah watch it!" he said in a bit of a rush, imagining her turned to stone. So not cool he thought following her.
Practice, they actually had to practice this spell. Something he was more nervous on than getting in trouble. Well, his biggest fear hadn't come to light, but it almost had and he was on a thin string with Svensson already so he knew the risks more than anyone. "Okay, who wants to go first?" He asked, looking from Lucy to Tammy and back again. Please don't say me he thought mildly. Lucy then went ahead and went first and he watched as she tried performing the spell. "You'll get it. Just concentrate, empty your mind. That's what my cousin said to do before casting." he said in a soft voice.
