"Duro." Celandine dutifully said it once. She knew this one so she didn't feel the need to practice it. She went back to practicing the wand movement and feeling the intent to cast the counter.

Ratel 09-24-2009 04:53 AM

Arrick scrawled down 'duro' and drew a double arrow between the two words, mumbling to himself. Incantation wise, it might be more efficient to turn everyone into a bunch of rocks, but Arrick was sure it wasn't going to be that simple in the end.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 09-24-2009 04:56 AM

Fred heard the professors instructions and started to practice saying, "doro", wait thats not right. He tried again, "dero", no that did'nt sound qute right either. He went for it yet a third time saying, "duro", that was it. He said it a few times over to remeber it and then waited for the next direction.

SnitCHchASER 09-24-2009 04:57 AM

Emalyn nodded after receiving the instructions.

"Duro...duro. Duuuuuurrrrroooooowwww." she slurred the word. "Duro...duro. Duro duro duro duro." finally satisfied with her pronouncing of the incantation, she wrote the word down in her notebook, along with the counterspell. She drew a marshmallow in the corner of the page, with eyes and legs.

Hmph...it's too bad marshmallows are so yummy with sticky goodness.

dan arjay 09-24-2009 05:57 AM

Daniel nodded on the instructions as he lowered his wand and practiced his fluency. "Duro, Duro, Duro, Duro" he muttered over and over again making sure he doesn't get it wrong.

DH Vixen 09-24-2009 06:09 AM

Mina wrote down both the spell and counter-spell before silently reciting them in her head. They both didn't seem too hard to remember, but sometimes even the simplest things can be forgotten. "Duro...Duro...Duro...Duro," she recited the incantation softly. She really wanted to get it right. Repeating it over and over both quietly and in her head, she waited for the next instruction.

PattyH. 09-24-2009 07:49 AM

Duro, Patroclus first thought then spoke allowed, scribbling it down on his Parchment he repeated the incantation numerous times, to ensure correct pronunciation and inflection.

Magenta 09-24-2009 07:55 AM

"Duurrrooo" drawled Magenta in a bored tone, resting her head on her hand. The matter changing experiment had lost its appeal to her as soon as changing a fellow student to stone was ruled out of the equation.

Moon Eyes 09-24-2009 09:18 AM

Nikki nodded as the professor answered whether the spell would soften objects. 'Sounds cool' she thougt, ut she knew she needed a lot of practice beore she coudlget tat far. She'd make it eventually though.

Nikki then proceeded to write notes on the two spells, drawing an arow bewen the two. 'Duro' had a capital 'S' under it, and 'Flexi' had 'CS' written neatly under it, to show it was th counter spell.

She then put her wand down, and concentated on pronunciating the spell correctly. "Duro..Duro...Duro"

Lyra grabbed a piece of parchment and a quill with ink out of her bag. She rolled the parchment out on the floor and dipped the quill in the ink.
She wrote down the words

Quote:

Spell: Flexi
Wand movement: Jab of the wand
Lyra then placed her quill down and watched as the others started practising. The professor hadn't shown the next spell yet so she couldn't write the movement down. The second year listened as people were saying "duro" with a bored voice and Lyra decided to make the lesson a bit fun for herself. She hadn't practised the flexi spell yet so she practised both of them.

"Flexi, Flexi, Duro...... Duro, Duro, Fleeeexi, Flexi Flexi Duuuuuuuro, Duro Duro, Flexiii"

she said in a singsang voice. Now she only needed a guitar, drums, keyboard, bass.........and a better singer... and she could start a band!!!

Fira 09-24-2009 10:16 AM

Now this was really boring. Josh; the desk before him totaly empty, no textbooks, quills or parchments, was just leaning back comfortably and enjoying himself watching the others but he started to get bored of sitting as time passed and as a result it was difficult for him to remain silent and keep attention within the subject. He listened to none of the stories except a little bit of that raven one, the image of a raven-dark haired girl was nice. He was about to sleep when everyone in the class simply said 'Flexi' which restored his attention back, he joined them for a couple of pronouncing. Then, trying to forget about his fantasies of 'Flexi'-ing someone instead of something, he pronounced the next spell with the rest of the class ''Duro, duro, duro, duro, durrooo!'' 'Funny word' ''And duro. Right, this sounds easy and boring as well'' he whispered to himself his eyes on the professor.

Yusrieee 09-24-2009 10:26 AM

Ohmegoshnessss! This class is durotastic, bwaahaa.

Blake who was now lying on the floor, rolling from on end to the other for no obvious reason, sat up, stretching. Okay he should get his duro on and at least try and practise. He had been wasting his time gawking other students and talking to himself..erm.

He didn't bother to search through his bag as he didn't plan to take notes. Notes are laaaamee.

Sighing, he started to holler the spell, "DUROOO...durrroooooooom DUROOOOOOO...durumum........D-U-R-O-O-O-O-O-O." This was fun, yay for Transfiguration even though he hadn't transfigured anything yet, "D-U-R-O...DURO..D-U-R-O...DURO..D-U-R-O...DURO..D-U-R-O...DURO.." He continued to spell out the word Duro in a verrrrry annoying manner.

PadfootAndTheWolf 09-24-2009 10:38 AM

Chris smiled. He was excited to learn the stone spell and its countercurse because after hearing all the ways you could use it, he saw how useful it really was. "Duro." he said clearly. "Duro." he pronounced the word again.

lexitonks81 09-24-2009 11:33 AM

Alexis said the spells over and over in her head. She could remember the counter-spell, it was so similar to her nick name. Duro...kinda like Dora... she was having trouble remembering all of the crazy spells, so she had to think of some way to remember them. Duro...flexi...duro...flexi... she said over and over, practising the wand movements as she went.

Waddles 09-24-2009 11:53 AM

Svensson listened closely to the class as they all said the incantation. It seemed that they all had the pronunciation right, so it was time to move on.

"The wand movement for Duro is the same as its counterspell. Just make a sort of jab with your wand, directed at whatever you intend to turn to stone. And when you get around to actually casting the spell, be sure you picture whatever you want to turn to stone in your mind. It helps your aim," Svensson said. "You can go ahead and practice the wand movement. Without the incantation."

Yusrieee 09-24-2009 12:00 PM

Blink.blink

Blake listened to Professor Svensson blankly. OMG! The movement was sorta like poking?? EEEP, fun fun.

"AYE AYE Professorrrr!" He saluted Professor Svensson and took out his wand from the back pocket of his pants.

"Okaay caaaalm dowwwwwn." Muttering nonsense, Blake poked his bag with his wand, weeelll jabbing was kinda like poking soooo poke.poke

AmbiguouslyMe 09-24-2009 12:09 PM

Jab. Jab. JabJabJabJab.

Tibi practiced the wand movement, trying to keep his wand steady. He still wasn't used to how long it was. Jab. Jab. JAB. It was just like those other spells. Jab. JAB.

DuckyLinJi 09-24-2009 12:11 PM

Lyra stopped singing in her horrible voice when Professor Svennie, yes she decided to call him Svennie, had started to talk again. With a small sigh, Lyra picked her quill up and wrote down the spell and wand movement for the duro charm.

Quote:

Spell: Duro
Wand Movement: Also jabbing.
Lyra then placed her quill down and grabbed her wand again that she had put back in her holster. She moved her wrist and the wand shot in her hand and she pointed it at nothing in particually. The second year caught Blake with her eyes and started to giggle at the way how he was poking instead of jabbing.

Moving her hand, Lyra made violent jabbing motions with her wand.
Jab, jab , jab, jab, jab, jab........Well that wasn't hard.

Kmaslytheringirl1278 09-24-2009 12:11 PM

Jab, K wanted to get this wand movement right so again Jab.Jab.Jab.Jab., It came easy to her, Jab. It was fun for K she could Jab all day long if she could. She tought to her slef that she liked this class and this professor, Jab she went again with her wand.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 09-24-2009 12:17 PM

Okay jab with rou're wand in the dirction of the object you wish to change. Why on Earth would we need to practice wand movement like beforehand of actually doing the spell, it seemed relatively straight foward. Atleast this was a little bit better then Durmstrang where you had to take notes on a spell quickly and learn it on the spot or fail. But it just seemed like he had stepped from one extreme to the other. He just sighed and rolled his eyes as he took out his wand and pointed it at his desk in a jab motion thinking ontently on it turning to stone. This part of the lesson just seemed utterly pointless to him.

lexitonks81 09-24-2009 12:45 PM

Alexis practiced the movement, saying the incantation silently as she did so. There was a random box she'd picked out to be her target. The movement was becoming familiar to her now, and she had the pronunciation down pat. "Professor?" she called, "am I doing this right?" She didn't want to get it wrong and send charms flying places they didn't need to be.

Rosa Chispa Princessa 09-24-2009 12:55 PM

Herminny thought okay. By the professors instruction this seemed easy enough to not need practice for the wand movement but whatever floats his boat. She took out her wand and paraticed jabbing it toward her book and waited for the next instruction which she hoped hoped be trying the spell.

Roselyn 09-24-2009 12:58 PM

Evelyn picked her wand back up and practiced the wand movement half halfheartedly. "Sort've jab." she repeated under her breathe, not really paying attention.

Hmmhmhmhmmmm...
Ok. So a jab and then think like mad about the thing you want to turn into stone. Lets seeeee, lets see here...
Miranda lifter her wand, took a deep breath and then moved the wand making a jabbed motion.
Uh. She accidentaly poked herself on the leg making her wince. One more try. Making the move again, she thought she'd done it allright, but Miranda practiced some more times to be sure.

lovegood90 09-24-2009 01:23 PM

Ellie practiced the wand movement. Transfiguration was certainly already the most complicated class she had done so far. She practiced it a number of times, more than tempted to actually say the spell, but she resisted it as she didn't want to get in trouble, and loose Gryffindor points. That would not do.
