Abigail raised an eyebrow after listening to the professor talk, was he serious? What exactly was he going to learn from her doing that, and her wand was brand new it was highly unlikely to was malfunctioning already. Sighing she supposed it was best to do as she was told, and raised her wand in the air and sat still hoping that he didn’t intend to take all day.

Professor Svensson either thought he was just a comedic genius or--was clearly out of his pretty little mind. Even as Daphne grumbled underneath her breath, being FORCED to sit on the GROUND with nothing to protect her from the DIRTY ELEMENTS, Miss Hopton followed her superior's instructions.

Ignoring how ridiculous she looked, Daphne raised her arm and wand above her head and sat still glaring at the back of Jack Fritzera's head.

At least it gave her something to do besides focusing her energy wishing for the Professor's fabulous hair to just---catch fire.

Lucy saw Xander look back to her and then motioned for her to sit next to him. But...what about William? Hey, Cam was next to him! Aww...but, William! Perhaps, William should them? And she was already in her seat, following orders. Perhaps if she slowly moved towards him, it wouldn't be noticeable. Quickly, she pretended as if she were adjusting her sitting arrangements and rapidly whispered to William, "I'll be with Xander! Join us if you'd like!", and smiled as she quickly rushed into the seat next Xander.

Adjusting her sitting position again, she swiftly held her wand over head again, focusing on the idea of being still. Still...one with the universe. And with that, she closed her eyes. Wait, was this a meditation exercise? Cause if so...this Professor Svensson was so cool!! Yeah.

Next thing the Professor entered the room, and a hush fell over the class, silent excitement filled the air.
Having listened to the Professor, Patroclus rose his 11.5 inch wand over his head, and breathing deep, centered himself so too allow him to sit as still and as long as the Professor fond necessary.

Tentatively, Evolette raised her wand, arching her eyebrow with the movement of her arm. What was this going to do, besides make them all look like fools. She stayed still, like the professor had requested, but her eyes trailed over to Plymouth as he leaned in her direction.

What was he doing?

Why did it matter?

He smelled good.

Delana had woken up slightly... enough to understand Professor Svensson's instructions. She raised her wand abover her had as she had been told, and sat motionless. "Hmm... what a nice way to start a class", she thought, "I'm actually good at this."

Not really sure what the purpose of this was, Torin followed the Professor's instructions and put his wand over his head before sitting as still as he could in his seat.

Akihiko sighed and did as he was told. This was easy, he used to sit still like this at home. He did it for two reasons. One, when people wouldn't leave him alone. Eventually they would feel awkward and go away. And two, to freak out the idiots on the soccer team. They would kick the ball at the "statue" and it would move to block the ball.

Anna raised her wand and sat still. This reminded her of how she had to pose for hours while her dad tried to figure out a camera. 3 straight hours sitting in a puffy, lacey dess that made her look like a doll.

Arrick wasn't liking where this was going. He carefully withdrew his wand, having fetched it from where he'd abandoned it earlier, and held it over his head like an utter fool.

And prayed it wouldn't pop, bang or backfire on him like it had been earlier. Though if he were to really think hard about it, his wand only backfired when he resented having to do something.

Quite some time later, just when LouAnn was starting to get sort of restless, the door to the classroom opened once again, and the professor strolled inside. LouAnn followed him with her eyes until he reached the front of the classroom. She studied the box under his arm, only taking her eyes off it when he requested they raise their wands.

Raise her wand...raise her wand. Had she even remembered to bring her wand? She patted the pockets of her robes and searched inside her bookbag, finally locating her wand tucked inside the sleeve on her left arm. Once it was pulled from its hidden location, she raised it high into the air, then sat still as can be---statue-like, just as requested.

Nikki was a bit confused, but nonetheless followed the Profssor's instructions. She was curious about what was happening, and wondered how it tied into the lesson.

Why was everyone so loud?!

Livvy had the urge to tell everyone to just shut up, but she knew that one... that would be un-Ravenclaw of her... and two... no one would listen to a short sixth year girl. No one had ever listened to her. Tsk tsk.

Thankfully though, the professor walked into the classroom and immediately shushed the class. And what he said next, made the girl stare at him. Hard. He wanted us to... be statues? That... was definitely not weird. Nope. Not one bit. Livvy was sure that the Professor had some sort of point with this.

So... she did what the Professor said and held up her wand above her head, remaining motionless. The Jeopardy theme song rolling through her head. Do do do... do do do do dooo.

Herminny thought the professors instruction was a bit unusual but there was good reason for it so she abliged and took out her wand and raised it above her head staying as still as possible as she waited for the professor to examine it.

Matheu followed the instructions, even if they were rather odd. He took out his new wand and held it up above his head with him being perfectly straight against the back of the chair.

Nodding to himself as, one by one, the students obeyed his directions and raised their wands, Svensson drew his own wand and raised it above his head. "All appears to be in good working order. Moving on," he said with little ado. "Now, I can see that you certainly know what a statue looks like. What is a fairly well-known story in which people turn into statues? Or stone?"

Lucy's hand shot up immediately at this question. Of course! She remembered a story about the thing...and that guy...and that girl...

"Well, there's the story about Medusa. Every time she looked at someone, and someone looked back into her eyes, they'd turn into stone. And then, when she looked at herself in the mirror, she turned into stone, too!" she said, excitedly.

Copernicus raised his hand. "Sir? There's also King Midas, although I suppose they turned to gold and not to stone. But still... statues!"

Delana was about to answer when another girl began to speak. She had the same idea... When the girl was finished Delana muttered quietly... "yeah... that"

This... was HAAAARDDD. He was still trying to be a flamingo when that... THAT DOOOOD just told him he has a booger. Did pigs have boogers? Did they? Cam didn't know but he waaaanted to know. But AT LEAST he mistook it for a booger instead of a snout??? Yes yes it was aaalll good enough. "Uhh uh thanks?" But the wand started to roll off so he moved left and right. GRRRR.

Cam raised his hand ... slooowly so the wand wouldn't fall off his head. "Uhhh story? Liiike like Medusa? Ya know, the one with the crazy snakey hair!" She was SOOOOO a Slytherin.

Skye thought about this question and raised her hand hesitantly, trying to remember the details. "I think there's a Medusa story, a person so horrible-looking if you looked at her you'd turn into stone, or something along the lines of that," she answered.

...if they were statues, were they allowed to speak? Statues couldnt' speak. Issy decided to brave it, though, and break the rules. Her hand was raised so... she could speak, right?

"In Greek Mythology, Medusa could turn to stone anyone who looked her in the eye," said Issy. "And she was thus mentioned in the Twelve Tasks of Heracles. She was a gorgon, so she wasn't the only one."

Were there any others?

She strained her brain.

"Not that this is stone or a statue," she went on, "but the story of King Midas told of a king's greed in which anything he touched would turn to gold. Though.. that can count as a statue, yes?" Beaming, she wiggled in her seat. "He turned his daughter into a golden statue, I believe."

Oh! One more, one more!

"There is an Italian fairy-tale called The Raven," she went on to add. The Professor might not know what it was about. Hmmm.

Tibi pondered the question. Medusa he knew, Midas he knew.. but those had already been offered.

He started thinking about all the different stories his mum had told him about gods and goddesses in lots of different religions. Scrunching his face, he wondered, did a pillar of salt count as a statue?

Opting to risk it, he raised his hand. "There's also the Hebrew story about Lot's wife who turned into a pillar of salt -- which could be like a statue -- when she turned around to look back at the city they were leaving."

Ali answered haughtily. "There was Medusa, a gorgon from Roman and Greek mythology who was eventually killed by Perseus" She offered. This was no fun. Maybe she could add some of the funner aspects of the story...."She was first a beautiful maiden, got having love in Athena's temple with Posiedian ...and....yeah....." She said filling in the details. But she hadn't even gotten to the fun parts of the slaying.

That would have to wait. Ugh. Why does harmless gore always wait.

Satine wasn't sure if this was a test or not and then she was even more confused....was she supposed to raise her hand since it was already up....o well here goes...
