Sara was excited to be allowed to fly for the first time, but she was scared to death! Standing by the broom, Sara commanded: "UP!" and the broom immediately jumped up into her out stretched hand. "This was just like riding a horse," Sara thought happily, "you just have to show them who's boss...don't show your fear." Mounting the broom, Sara gave a small push, she rose four feet into the air. "Perfect! " Sara thought, at least if she fell she wouldn't be killed! Leaning forward, Sara shot through the air... She was freeeeeee!!!! Deciding to go a little higher, Sara pulled up on the broomstick's handle. Straightening out, she flew on. After three laps of the arena, Sara slowly pointed her broom downwards, straightening out just before she felt her feet touch the ground. She had done it... She, Sara Lyons, had learned how to fly! |
"ok Virgi...Let's go!"Ginny pushed off the ground and she was ready to fly"It reminds me of home where we used to play chasers and keepers and the opposite"She laughed |
Still mounted on her broom, LouAnn turned towards the professor and listened to his basic instructions on how to maneuver the broom in the air. Her parents...and maybe even her brother...would get a good laugh at her if they knew she was attending such a class. LouAnn couldn't help it, though! She'd been out of flying ever since she was a second year, and she'd just rather be safe than sorry. When it was time to take off, LouAnn pushed off the ground, taking to the skies for the first time in years. She flew a good piece away, then sat upright and pulled the broom towards her. Eventually, she stopped in mid-air. Hmm...not too difficult to pick up on lost long skills, is it? She leaned slightly over the broom handle and went forwards once again, flying around and around the pitch a few times, remembering to steer and turn just like the professor had shown them. A few minutes later, she landed gracefully on the ground, although, she did stumble just a little. Not too bad, if she did say so herself. |
Brad followed the instructions carefully."Up!"he said.It flew into his hand. He hoped he could follow the next set of instructions. He mounted the broom, kicked off,and rose a few feet in the air.He hovered for a moment. He practiced turning. He flew in a circle. He rose a little higher, and continued hovering. He looked down.He flew around a bit.It was thrilling,to see himself few feet above the ground, just flying. He hadn't felt this way since riding his toy broomstick years ago,but this was the real deal! How he felt right now was beyond words. |
Keeley had no idea how to react the instructions. Fly? Oh my. Well, here goes nothing. She kicked off of the ground, levitating about an inch above the ground. This wasn't so bad, but she gently landed back down. |
Zoe was very excited to have the opportunity to be in the air again. She pushed off with the other students and after a little bit of a shaky take off she felt like she was back home again having an impromptu Quidditch match with her family. Turning around in a wide circle around the rest of the class she stopped in midair and noticed that one girl had flown high above everyone else and was staring off into the distance. Shrugging her shoulders she turned back and forth, getting a sense of how the broom felt. Then she touched down landing gently and pushed off again hovering in the air, while she watched the other students. |

Kylie already knew how to fly, she'd done it at her grandmother's house loads of times.. but she thought it might be nice just to go out and see the school's pitch from the air. She stood up straight, outstretched her arm saying "Up." Firmly, not necessarily very loudly though. The broom came racing up to her hand, she gripped it a little hard.. ow she thought. She mounted the broom carefully, fixed her grip on the broom, and kicked up into the air. She sat up, hovering only a few feet off the ground and put her hair into a pony tail. No way was she going to lose her focus and get distracted by her very own hair. After doing so, she leaned in towards the broom, and it took off. As she sped around the pitch, she realized she should probably slow down. Laughing the whole way, she flew at a leisurely pace around the pitch a few times. Realizing other people were starting to land, she came down easily, coming off of her broom as she came off her bike. Swinging her leg around to one side and walking off. Kylie took in a deep breath, ahh she thought to herself, I missed flying. |

OHhhHh! Plymouth grinned (still hadn't picked up his broom, gotten it up, or ... actually.. where WAS his broom...? hmm...) at the arrival of Lawson. "Sup, Professor!? Looks like you're on my team, too." And to that, Plymouth offered his DADA professor a high five. Yeah! This was going to be fun. Manly bonding and all, doing manly things like mess with brooms and whistles. Plymouth LOVED flying class! |

He was about to put his broom down when he saw Professor Lawson come over. "Hi Professor... are you going to fly with us?" Tibi looked up at him expectantly, his legs a little wobbly. Maybe between Plymouth and Lawson he'd manage alright? |
K already knew how to fly so she called her broom, "Up" and it came right up into her hand and then she got on to her broom. K was flying with ease. "Is this good enough Professor?" She only went a few feet of the ground so she would not get into too much trouble. She flew into so many different circles it was just so much fun for her. She missed flying so much it ment a lot for her to be flying again it was one of her true passions. "I love this so much." K yelled but then turned a lil red hoping it would not be a bad thing she yelled. "Well what is next Professor?" K asked as she contiued to fly. |
Seeing as it was still practice time, LouAnn tightened her grip on the broom handles and pushed off the ground once again. She flew all the way down the pitch, making sure to lean forward on her broom as she did so. It felt nice to be up in the air again---to feel the wind blow against her face as she flew faster and faster. Not to any insane speeds, of course, as they were only meant to be practicing. When she was nearly to the end of the pitch, she sat upright and pulled the broom handle towards her a little. When she slowed down considerably, she steered the broom around and flew back off in the way she'd come. Maybe she'd just try riding up and down the pitch for a while before landing again. |

Marcus slapped his hand against Plymouth's and grinned, well at least he didn't seem to be the only one that had absolutely no idea what he was doing. "Looks like it mate. Just...you know take it easy on me okay?" He had leaned over and spoke in a low voice so that none of the other students could hear him. "So what am I supposed to be doing exactly?" Yep someone hex him right now! |
Zoe started turning left and right weaving in between the other students. She was happy to be doing something here at Hogwarts that she was familiar with. Then she thought she saw the girl named LouAnn that she had met in Diagon Alley. This was the first person that she recognized from before school. She smiled at her and waved shyly. |

Still flying high in the skies, LouAnn leaned forward on her broom and took off down the pitch. The more she rode, the easier it got to get back into the swing of things. Had she known it was this easy, she'd have tried out for the quidditch team, after all! Her hair blew backwards as she headed further and further down the pitch, and when she reached the end, she steered the broom around so that she could fly off in the opposite direction. As she flew by Zoe, she smiled at the younger Gryffindor girl. She'd have waved, but she would have probably fallen off her broom or gotten into loads of trouble. |
Fred was so excited the time had finally come that he could take to the skys. He mounted his broom his broom and kicked off the ground and leaned back pointing the broom upward. Once he was about 15 feet off the ground. He could'nt belive he had ascended so high so fast he pratically panicked. He quickly calmed himself before he lost control and started to think this is'nt so bad. He leaned foward on his broom making gis way around the pitch the pitch leaning in the direction of the turn as he came across it. As he started to gain more confidence he decided to try a round with more speed. He pushed slightly into the handle of his broomstick and he was soaring. He could just barely keep control at this speed but he managed and made a few more rounds around the pitch. He was loving this and gaining more and more confidence with each round he made but not quite enough confidence to up the speed anymore then it already was. Not just yet anyway. |

Max heard the whistle and hurried over to Plymouth who gave him a high five. "Erm, you summoned me. What's the problem, Plym?" he asked and his eyes were focused on the students flying around above them. |
Zooming around the pitch around and around in circles, circling the pitch and stopping and turning to go another way, JD is having a blast. Thinking hard, he wonders if he should try for the quidditch team. I mean, he has been reading the quidditch through the ages book, and it looks like fun. Not realizing where he's going, he nearly collides with one of the goal posts. Swerving at the last second, he pulls up to a stop midair neatly. Phew that was close! he thinks to himself, taking off toward the other end of the pitch. |
Clutching her broom again Zoe felt a little wobbly. Maybe she should hold onto the school broom a little longer before deciding any other risky maneuvers. Just then she noticed young Gryffindor boy flying upside down over LouAnn. Was he crazy? Zoe wondered to herself if he was on their Quidditch team. Looking behind herself was making her feel a little air sick so she turned her dark head of hair back around and realized that she had veered off course quite a bit. |

She pulled back on her broom and came to a sudden halt in the air a few feet away from the boy. "Hey, Rafe! I'm doing alright up here. I think I'm getting back into the hang of things," she said, hovering in the air. "Watch me practice and let me know how I do!" Without another word, she leaned forward on her broom and took off down the pitch. When she reached the end of it, she steered the broom around and headed back down to Rafe, coming to another stop right by him. "Well, how'd I do?" |
Quote:
Oh, did she ask me something.... "You're perfect...," Rafe said as he snapped out of what seemed like a daze. He tried lowerly his voice, "I mean you're flying was really well done," he grunted a little, "A little wide on the turn for my taste, but well done. Nice form." He coughed, trying not to make things awkward. "Right...what about myself?" He zoomed off down the pitch quite a long ways, he did an upside down loop to turn around and then began returning towards LouAnn. Time to try that Wronski feint, he thought as he went into a dive leaning into his broom and the feet away from the ground, he shot upward leaning more and more into his broom picking up more and more speed. Before he knew it he heading straight at LouAnn, but quickly swirved to avoid her and continued zooming upward. He leaned back and finally came to a halt. Gained back control and flew in front of LouAnn and stopped in front of her. Now, I see what the professor was talking about distractions... "So, sorry Purple! Are you okay!?" Rafe said nervously and slightly out of breat. He swerved just in the nick of time, but he would be terrified too if someone came zooming towards him at that speed. |
Flying down the pitch, he swerves to avoid an older student. Older student...I thought they all knew how to use a broom already... doing a double take, he flips over. Weeeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! he thinks upside down, with a huge grin on his face. Suddenly he sees his wand falling, falling far beneath him. Well, it's not that far...but still. Rolling sideways, he finds that it rights him, and he zooms down toward his wand. |
