Plymouth was ... not going to put his harness back. But he didn't LIKE that he was a certified PHOBIC or whatever it was Professor V was on about. What would people like Daphne Hopton think if she heard he was a acrobotaphobic or whatever? Man. Professor V needed to keep that stuff on the low down.

But, he obediently went straight over when asked. "Yessir!" He was probably about to get the whistle, right? RIGHT? YAY!

Keeley felt like just dropping her broom and bolting towards the castle, but didn't, only for the sake of Ravenclaw and it's possible points. (Though she may be injured beyond repair) Her eyes kept flashing random colors, by now she didn't even know that they were doing it, and her palms were sweating. ew.

"Yes, Professor, I think I'd like that." Think, being the operative word. Tibi had no idea if it was a good thing or not, but if the professor suggested it, it couldn't be terrible, right?

"Plymouth, this is Tiberius. Tiberius, this is Plymouth," Vindictus said as he introduced the two Ravenclaws to each other. "Now, Plymouth - I'd like for you to help young Tibi today and any others who need help." Then he pulled something shiney out of his pocket. "If you need me, I want you to use this," he said and dangled a silver whistle in front of Plymouth.

"But first things, first. You need to put on the harness and attach it to the broomstick. It fits like a vest and you slide this hook onto the broom handle. The hook is magicked, so no worries about it breaking or coming off while in flight."

harrypottterbroadway 10-03-2009 03:31 AM

Ugh. Keeley needed something to get her mind off of flying (and falling to her doom) so she watched as the professor showed the other nervous kid that she had tried to talk to earlier about how to put on the harness. So, she strapped on the vest, and hooked it to the handle of her broom, fumbling with it for a while.

Mad Eye Touz 10-03-2009 03:48 AM

Plymouth Morgan took the whistle between his palms and took a LONG MOMENT to appreciate the gift. GIFT. He was, without question, the happiest man!boy in the entire world in that moment. With a WHOLE lot of pride, Plymouth slid the whistle's strap over his head so it could rest around his neck.

With his chest puffed out, Plymouth finally got a LOOK at his new little 'Claw buddy. "You're in good hands, Tibster. Plymmy," Plymouth pointed to himself, "will take GOOD care of you."

Probably. He put the whistle into his mouth - so it wouldn't get hung in his vest, obviously, as he strapped the vest and harness on.

"Watch me. Do it like this." Plymouth was a pro at getting strapped in, "hehe. Got it?"

Tibi looked up at the older boy that Vindictus had paired him with. Why did his name sound familiar... Shrugging, he smiled. "Thanks for helping."

In any case, Tibi watched as he strapped the vest on and mimicked his actions. Tibi's hair fell in his face and he brushed it out of the way with the back of his hand. "Do you fly a lot?" he asked Plymouth as he tightened the vest around his small body.

Vindictus walked away from the two Ravenclaw boys and grabbed a broom himself before taking center stage. "Lay your broom on the grass to your right and stand up straight," he said and demonstrated. "I want each of you to practice summoning the broom to your open palm. Watch me." He placed his right hand over his broom. "Up!"

The broom zoomed into his open palm and he firmly grasped it. "You must say it firmly or else the broom will sense your fear and not budge. Give it a go!"

Lizasaurus 10-03-2009 04:03 AM

Excited, they finally get to do something with the broom. How long til we get to fly on it, I wonder?

Placing the broom gently on the ground next to him, and stands to the right of it, he places his hand above the broom, as the professor said.

He raised his head, looked straight ahead, with a serious and firm voice, he said "Up!"

The broom sprang up to his hand, and he clutched it in his fist. Excitement tingling all the way from his fingers throughout his body. Grinning, he knew this was something he could definitely do, even if he couldn't do spells very well yet.

Bella then right away had put her broom on the ground and stood strait and tall. She then placed her right hand over her broo, and said," Up" but nothing happened.
"Up" she said again with a sharper tone of voice.
nothing
"Why wasn't it coming up?" she asked herself. Bella was pretty bad with athletic stuff, but she didn't think she'd be bad at this

MoviegoerKinz 10-03-2009 04:07 AM

Rafe did as instructed. He sat his broom on the grass. He remembered the first time he did this, he was three and it took him several tries and a few knots on the head later before he got it right. He remembered that time vividly because he remembered his mum wouldn't let him cry.

Rafe put his hand over his broom and shouted in Romanian, "SUS!" and the broom seemed to listen because it immediately soared into his hand with a powerful force that it made a SMACK! sound as it hit the palm of his hand. Rafe nodded, he was pretty happy with himself.

"Stay calm and treat the broomstick like a little puppy that's being trained to sit," he suggested and moved on to check how the other students were doing.

Evelyn waited as patient as she could for the professor to speak again. She wanted to get in the air as soon as possible. BUT that wouldn't be happening right away as it seems. 'They are starting with the basics? Really?' the voice whined in her mind. 'Please stop talking like that, and supposedly yes, we are.' Evelyn sighed and set down her broom to her right and placed her hand over it. "Up!" she said confidently. A bit too much. The broom zoomed straight to her hand, harder than she was expecting, and she dropped the broom, cradling her hand to her chest. Her hands were still a bit sensitive from the little incident in Ancient Runes even though the redness and blisters were gone. "Oow..." Turning away from everyone for a second, she waited till her hand was numb and turned back to the broom, hesitating before putting her hand over it again. "Up." she said a little more softly, and it flew straight up to her hand again, not as hard though. Sighing in relief, she looked at the other student's progress.

AmbiguouslyMe 10-03-2009 04:10 AM

Tibi hesitatingly put the broom on the ground to his side. Looking around at the other students, he felt a ball of nerves growing in his stomach. He wanted to, but he didn't, but he did, but ugh. Maybe if he closed his eyes when he was in the air, he wouldn't realize how high he was and then he wouldn't be scared? Maybe?

"Up?" he more asked the broom than told it. And so it stayed put. "Up." This time he told the broom, but in a whisper and not very convincingly.

Tibi put down his hand and pouted for a moment. If he couldn't even get the broom in his hand, there was no way he would be able to fly. But maybe that wasn't so bad?

"Come on, up." He whined at it this time, and still, it sat.

When the professor titled this class "Flying Basics," he wasn't kidding, was he? It could be worse, though, LouAnn supposed. The class could be too hard for her, rather than too easy. Not that LouAnn expected this entire class to be too easy, though. She wouldn't have come today had she thought that. No, no. It was just this whole 'Up' thing that she was sure she was already familiar with.

Nevertheless, she laid her broom on the ground just to her right, then watched the professor do a quick demonstration. Yup, just as she remembered... LouAnn extended her hand and placed her palm towards the broom. "Up" she ordered, remembering to speak firmly to the broom or else it wouldn't listen. "Up!" At first the broom just shook a little, trying to place tricks, LouAnn guessed. It shimmied and shook a little, then zoomed up to LouAnn's palm. She caught it before it's force had a chance to knock her out.

Damon laid his broom down and stood up straight. Holding his hands out in a graceful manner he said "up" the broom shook a little but did not budge. Damon said "Up again and this time the broom slowly came into his hands and he clasped it carefully.

Bella decided to take his advice and be less tense and calm like she normaly was, she had put her hand right hand above her broom and said," Up!" and the broom then went strait up, right into the palm of her hand. Bella giggle a little with joy.

Fred laid his broom on the grass and did as he was instructed expecting to get it right the first time. He was 15 after all, how could he not have the confidence to do such a simple thing. With his broom on the grass he held his hand over the broom and nonchalantly said, "up". The broom barely moved an inch off the ground. He was dumbfounded thinking how on Earth could I mess this up. Mabe I have to put more sincere concentration into it and stop thinking so pompously. After this thought he held his hand over the broom for another try and said, "up", but this time he concentrated hard on making that broom fly up to his hand and sure enough it did. He realized regardless of you're age power comes from the effort you put into what you strive to do. Fred smirked a little at this thought and then waited for the next instruction.

"Be firm!" Vindictus called out to those who were struggling and he was now ready for the next step. "Keep a firm grip on your broom and mount it. Place your other hand on the broom handle and hold on tight while keeping both feet planted firmly on the ground."

Bella then did the next instructions on mounting her broom. Bella then started to wonder how you push off right, but then lost her balance a little, but got back on. She then began to watch the others.

stormanator 10-03-2009 04:29 AM

Damon mounted his broom per the professors instructions. He made sure that his feet would not budge from the ground. Turning his head a little Damon looked at the students and their progress and then turned back to face straight.

Lizasaurus 10-03-2009 04:29 AM

Holding the handle of the broom firmly he places one leg over the broom. Grinning, he has a hard time not jumping up and down, with it underneath him. He can't wait, to actually move on this fascinating thing.

How can all of these others contain their excitement. he wonders to himself. So many of them look absolutely terrified, it stumps him as to why...

'Almost getting up in the air. Good.' Evelyn smiled and mounted her broom, putting her left hand on the broom as well and holding it tightly, but not too tightly of course.

MoviegoerKinz 10-03-2009 04:31 AM

Rafe whipped his leg over his broom and had a firm grip. He was ready to fly in the air, it was one of the greatest feelings in the world. He wish he had his own broom, but first years couldn't bring one. That was quite a bummer. Rafe felt a small jolt and raised half an inch but quickly put his feet back down. He gave the professor an apologetic look. He didn't mean to do it on purpose, Rafe sometimes he felt a broom was like a wand and had a mind of its own and would coincide with your thoughts and feelings.

curtisbk 10-03-2009 04:35 AM

Zoe laid her broom next to her on the ground and per the Professors instructions she place her hand over the broom and commanded, "Up."

Nothing happened. Was her nervousness about flying in front of strangers coming through to her confidence in flying? She rolled her shoulders back and tried to push the negative feelings away.

"Up," she tried again. A little twitching, but no big movement. Now she was getting irritated. This wasn't the first time she had flown and this broom would listen to her. "Up!" Zoe said through clenched teeth.

Finally the broom flew up into her hand. There she said to herself, straightening her hair, that is more like it.

She mounted her broom and looked to the professor for more instructions. Suddenly she realized she wasn't nervous anymore, and smiled to herself. This is the first time she felt a little confident about something since coming to Hogwart's.

Oh, they were getting ready to fly now, weren't they? LouAnn could only hope. Then again, since this was Flying Basics, they may just practice mounting over and over or maybe just hovering. LouAnn was ready either way, for she was anxious to get back into the hair and get into the swing of things again! With both hands on the broom handle, LouAnn mounted her broom, keeping a firm hold on it just like the professor had asked them to do. So far, so good, then again, she wasn't exactly doing anything special---just half-standing, half-sitting atop a broom.
