Please do not post here until the Professor has invited you in. Please use the office doorway thread to knock and gain admittance to the Professor's office.

The warm interior of Professor Kazimeriz's office is simply lit with a candlelight chandelier. While it is well organized and fastidiously tidy, the floor to ceiling mahogany shelves are overflowing with thick, ancient books and curiosities that the professor has collected during nearly a century of travels. The walls are decorated with tribal masks and other oddities as well as moving photographs of distant lands and distant people. Several photos are of the professor himself, posing with various wizards, witches, hobgoblins, werewolves, vampires and other magical beings.

At the center of the office is a large mahogany desk with a deeply cushioned leather chair behind it. On the desk are a few artifacts, including a glass-encased hand of glory. There is also a quill, blotter and a photograph of a much younger Professor Kazimeriz with a woman and small child.

At the back of the room there is a large, locked, wood and glass enclosed curio cabinet which contains a variety of objects. Each object has a note card describing the object and the curse placed on it. To the right of the cabinet, there is a brass bell dangling from a wrought iron hook. In this area, there is also a fastidious workspace featuring a triple-locked glass cabinet housing potions ingredients. On the counter you will find an array of potions-making equipment: phials, alembics, stills,and of course several cauldrons in various states of steaming and brewing. The bookshelves are jammed with many ancient texts: An anonymous treatise on the Philosophers' stone, An hundred aphorisms containing the whole body of magic from Ms. Sloane 1321, Basil Valentine's Triumphal Chariot of Antimony, Advanced Potion-Making by Libatius Borage, Moste Potente Potions, Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger, Compleat Potions by Horace Slughorn, and many others.

Comfortable, overstuffed chairs and sofas are positioned within the office near the fireplace sitting area and across from the professor's desk. The smell of tea and warm sugar cookies lingers in the air, mingling with the scent of the burning pine log in the fireplace and the occasional wafting scent of whatever happens to be brewing at the moment.

When you are invited in, please make yourself comfortable.

He looked again at the man, speaking quietly. "Of course it has bearing, as it affects your behavior. You did not 'merely ask me a question', Lawson. You came into my office uninvited and made a hostile, unprofessional attack on my professional integrity, openly accusing me- in front of the students - of 'doing nothing but degrading and belittling the boy', of being the reason he wishes to leave school; you further intimated that I might be the reason for his erratic behavior when he pulled his wand on you and when he accomplished magic beyond his years or abilities... and you directly asked me what I 'did to the boy'... as though I were putting him under an imperius curse in order to use him as my puppet. As a DADA professor, and given what I know of your background, Professor, I would think that you would possess both stronger critical analysis skills and the ability to not merely jump to the single conclusion that best suits your own biased agenda, which clearly has been prejudiced by your alliance with your friend. It would also seem to me that rather than taking the easy route by embracing your own hypocrisy, you might pause to consider that perhaps the boy is unbalanced... or perhaps something else might be affecting him. Something-- or someone-- Dark." He raised an eyebrow at Professor Lawson, then turned to Alessia.

"I hope that you took the time to confiscate the items so you may review them, and confirm that they were not cursed objects?" he asked, hoping she had... and thinking of the amulet Upstead had received from Lawson.

"Well... no. I have not seen odd behavior from either Upsted, nor his little girlfriend and when they said that they appeared into their pockets I just... assumed... a student was playing a prank on the lovebirds..." She knew he'd be disappointed... she knew now she should have taken those runes away from the kids. "I... can go look for them... confiscate the items?"

Oh, the bliss of having one's mind away from the present time.

Kaika didn't expect to enter the office with all the people waiting outside, but she followed Abby as soon as Professor Kazimeriz said it was okay for them to step inside.

She didn't know, however, that Lawson was also going to be there...he seemed to be having an argument of some sort with Professor Kazimeriz. Not nice. Who in their sane mind gets in an argument with Kazi?

Nevertheless, Kaika was totally sure that she wasn't going to remember whatever it was they were discussing, clearly, the Hufflepuff's mind was somewhere else.

Okay it was that last look from Kazi that did it. Marcus, was a very laid back man he never let anything get to him if he could help it but that look was the last straw for Lawson. "SEE!!" he yelled as he stood up from his chair and looked down at the old man. "There you go again. You are so determined to think that I am purposely out to harm the kids here at Hogwarts."

Marcus slammed his fist down onto the table and knew he was going to regret that action later as pain shot through his hand. But like he would ever let Kazi see that. "I know you thought I had something to do with the floods last year, only to be proven wrong. You definitely think I deliberately sabotaged the assembly. Well I will tell you now that I most certainly did not." He threw Alessia an apologetic glance before turning back to Kazi, she would hate him for this. "Why would I hurt her? We share the same interests in pie." Oh yeah she was gonna kill him for that.

"As for Jacob, I was only stating the truth when I said that you belittled him. That is certainly no secret since you've done it front of others." Marcus leaned over the desk and got into Kazi's face because quite clearly he had lost all sense of himself. "I would never hurt that kid or any kid for that matter in a million years. Go and have that amulet checked if it'll make you feel better. There is nothing wrong with it." He straightened back up and glared at the legend he used to respect once. "I totally get why Ethan thinks you're a nut job." With that last retort Marcus spun on his heel and headed for the door.

The muffliato charm could not keep the sound of a fist hitting wood from Abby's ears. She jumps in her chair dropping her half empty tea cup on the floor. Abby looks in the direction of Professor Kazimeriz's desk to see Professor Lawson leaning over it with his fist in the middle of it. She can tell by the way his mouth is moving that the professor must be yelling at the top of his lungs. Then Professor Lawson removes his hand and storms out of the room. I don't think that went well. I bet Lawson broke his hand doing that. Sometimes he can let his temper get the best of him. Of course Kazi egged it on. Abby looks at Professor Kazimeriz. "Could you please remove the charm?" Abby asks as she points her right index finger at her right ear. "Professor Lawson forgot to do it before he left."

"Mister Lawson. You will return to your seat, or we will never get anything accomplished. And here when we are finally making progress." Kazimeriz said in a low, cool voice, steepling his fingers casually.

He glanced at Alessia. "Miss Wright and Master Newtington will go for you to fetch the students - Upstead and the other one who discovered runes, who was it? I believe you are still essential to this conference, and so ask that you remain."

He looked at Abigail, momentarily removing the charm. "He is not gone yet. You will take Master Newtington and go find the students Miss Lupa speaks of-- Upstead and one other. Alessia?"

With his hand on the doorknob, Marcus gritted his teeth as he turned slowly back towards Kazi. "That would be Professor Lawson" he said in a low voice and not moving from his position by the door. He folded his arms across his chest and eyed the old man with contempt. Yeah he was being slightly childish but he was not going to do anything the old coot told him to do.

Alessia was glaring at Marcus at the moment when she turned to her godfather and said "Purple. LouAnn Purple." She told him still not believing that Marcus shared Ethan's opinion and thought her godfather was a nut job.

"Papa Valon, I doubt you will get anywhere with professor Lawson." She said clearly taking a side now.

Theo nodded. He had to go find Jake and LouAnn. Right-io. He pulled his Slytherin bobble hat down over his head. It was never going to fall off. He brushed his robes down. Nothing was escaping there. "Find Jake and LouAnn." He nodded again, just to check he had remembered, "Abby I will find Jake. You can go get LouAnn. Easier if we find one each. Get it down quicker."

Er, so...Abby and the boy were leaving...somewhere...was she really that out of the reality that she didn't even notice Professor Kazimeriz giving them some sort of order?

According to the boy, they were going to 'fetch' some students. Jake? As in her Jake? What did they want with Jake?

"Sorry, Professors...should I...give you some privacy?" not that she was really listening, but considering the other two were leaving...was she allowed to stay inside the office or wait outside?

Kazimeriz eyed Lawson, his eyebrow cocked with amusement. "Professor. Do have a seat. We are busy men with little time to waste."

Alessia huffed. She was angry at Marcus now. HER godfather was NOT a nut job... and the fact that he had prefaced that statement agreeing with Ethan Truebridge, got her even angrier. And she hadn't let her dislike for the History of Magic professor taint her view of the DADA professor in the least. "Pie is one thing. Civilized discourse is another. One would have to be civilized to conduct this type of discourse." She had liked Marcus a lot. He seemed to be a good friend, but to lose his cool in this manner... Kazimeriz was her Godfather, for Merlin's sakes! He was the man who practically raised her. He loved her when her own parents couldn't.

She didn't know why he'd want to hurt her. But this certainly did. He'd better apologize to Kazimeriz or no more of her sweets for him!

Abby looks from Professor Kazimeriz to Professor Lupa and then to Professor Lawson. How could he do something so stupid like this? Hadn't what happened to Professor Truebridge taught Professor Lawson a thing. You don't cross Professor Kazimeriz. Abby wanted to go to Professor Lawson and scream at him. Back down and apologize please!! You don't want Kazi as your enemy not if you plan on staying here at Hogwarts. What am I saying stay here at Hogwarts? I mean if you want to stay out of Azkaban. Teachers are suppose to be so smart, then why do they act so stupid sometimes? Abby looks back at Professor Kazimeriz. "May I leave sir?" Maybe I can what? There's nothing I can do in here. How can I get Professor Lawson to go into the hall with me and not make it look so obvious?

Marcus looked from Kazi, to Alessia and then to Abby. He could tell by the looks on their faces that they thought he was in the wrong and that the old man was right. Well Marcus, was not going to apologise for his outburst. He didn't care if Valon, had nothing to do with Jake's behaviour of late he was still at fault for picking on the kid.

"Well maybe you should try a different route where Mr Upstead is concerned Professor." Lawson said as he slowly made his way to one of the empty chairs. "When one tactic doesn't work then of course we should try and use another one" he sighed deeply as he glanced at Alessia and then turned and looked back at Kazi. "Something is wrong with him and I just want to know what it is."

Kazimeriz suppressed a smirk at Alessia's snarky comment, meeting Lady Helena's eyes for but a moment. He sipped his tea, momentarily appeased at the indication of Alessia's support. "Now, Alessia, I am certain Professor Lawson is capable of civilized conversation. Let us not misrepresent our colleague in front of the students, lest we diminish his standing." he met Alessia's eyes so she could see that despite the gentle 'admonishment' she had met his favor.

"Indeed you may, Miss Wright. Thank you for assisting us. You may leave as well, Master Newtington. Stay with Miss Wright, and bring back those students, please. It is ...urgent." Kazimeriz nodded to the students, dismissing them.

"How can you be certain that my tactics are not working? It seems to me that Master Upstead is progressing rather nicely." he smirked openly, stirring his tea and then picking up a nibble from the service plate, taking a small bite and then placing it on a napkin. Mmmm.. brie and pear wrapped in phyllo. He would have to commend the house elves; their nibbles for his teas were truly becoming first-rate. He swallowed, sipped his tea and waited for Lawson's response.

"Yes sir, Professor." Abby smiles at Professor Lawson. She's going to have to have a long talk with him about Professor Kazimeriz. Obviously Lawson does not realize how dangerous a position he's in. Abby then heads out of the office. She imagines he's not going to be thrilled having her tag along, but Abby's not about to disobey Kazi's orders.

Marcus refrained from rolling his eyes at the old man as he stretched his legs out in front of him and crossed his legs at the ankles. "Don't count your Basilisk's before they've hatched Professor, I don't think it had anything to do with your teaching methods." Oh yeah he was just betting the old man wished that Jake had hexed him.
