Please do not post here until the Professor has invited you in. Please use the office doorway thread to knock and gain admittance to the Professor's office.
The warm interior of Professor Kazimeriz's office is simply lit with a candlelight chandelier. While it is well organized and fastidiously tidy, the floor to ceiling mahogany shelves are overflowing with thick, ancient books and curiosities that the professor has collected during nearly a century of travels. The walls are decorated with tribal masks and other oddities as well as moving photographs of distant lands and distant people. Several photos are of the professor himself, posing with various wizards, witches, hobgoblins, werewolves, vampires and other magical beings.
At the center of the office is a large mahogany desk with a deeply cushioned leather chair behind it. On the desk are a few artifacts, including a glass-encased hand of glory. There is also a quill, blotter and a photograph of a much younger Professor Kazimeriz with a woman and small child.
At the back of the room there is a large, locked, wood and glass enclosed curio cabinet which contains a variety of objects. Each object has a note card describing the object and the curse placed on it. To the right of the cabinet, there is a brass bell dangling from a wrought iron hook. In this area, there is also a fastidious workspace featuring a triple-locked glass cabinet housing potions ingredients. On the counter you will find an array of potions-making equipment: phials, alembics, stills, and of course several cauldrons in various states of steaming and brewing. The bookshelves are jammed with many ancient texts: An anonymous treatise on the Philosophers' stone, An hundred aphorisms containing the whole body of magic from Ms. Sloane 1321, Basil Valentine's Triumphal Chariot of Antimony, Advanced Potion-Making by Libatius Borage, Moste Potente Potions, Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger, Compleat Potions by Horace Slughorn, and many others.
Comfortable, overstuffed chairs and sofas are positioned within the office near the fireplace sitting area and across from the professor's desk. The smell of tea and warm sugar cookies lingers in the air, mingling with the scent of the burning pine log in the fireplace and the occasional wafting scent of whatever happens to be brewing at the moment.
When you are invited in, please make yourself comfortable.

Constantine stood not too far behind LouAnn, his eyes focused completely on Kazimeriz. The man's expression...it had seemed that he had done the math as well, and came to a correct solution.

Once Evelyn entered the room, she stood back behind the others, not really wanting to get in the way. Wait...did LouAnn just say she came here with them? Raising a brow, Evelyn tried to scoot further into a corner or something, just listening to everyone speak, eyes darting around the room before they rested on the Professor. She was curious as to why he wanted LouAnn in the first place too and to see if her thoughts on the situation were correct or not...

Destiny decided her shoes were more interesting to look at than the people in the room. Well they weren't exactly interesting, she just thought if she put her head up to look at Kazi, he would kill her with his eyes. He really did give her the heebie jeebies.
Destiny heard the professor ask LouAnn why she was here and her head shot up to look at her. She wanted to know the answer to that question.

"Do they NEED to be here as well," Constantine threw in, jabbing his thumb towards the two slytherin girls. "Can't you just give them their points and send them on their way?" The lesser the audience, the better.

LouAnn breathed a sigh of relief when Mr. Masterson spoke up and questioned the girls' presence. They were indeed here for their points, so maybe it would be easier to speak to Professor Kazimeriz without the presence of an audience. LouAnn was already nervous enough. She didn't speak up and say a word, though, for she thought it best to leave that part of the discussion up to the two adults. Her eyes fell back on Professor Kazimeriz, and she waited patiently for his reply to what she'd previously said.

"Professor Kazimeriz, the truth is that I have no idea why I'm here. I do know that you've asked for me for some very important reason...it must be. You offered points!" she remarked. She took in a deep breath then looked him in the eye. "I've no idea what I've done, though..."
Professor Kazimeriz raised an eyebrow.

At this, Kazimeriz bristled. "Mr. Masterson. I do not recall extending you the privilege of deciding whom I host in my office; they may remain here and for any duration that pleases me."
He turned to the two girls. "Please; have a seat, and do allow my tea pot to indulge you in a spot of tea."

Kazimeriz returned his attention to the Purple child. "Now, really. Are you quite certain you have no idea? Search your conscience... Perhaps something relating to Jacob Upstead...? Does nothing spring to mind?" He eyed her suspiciously, as though she were a piece of Leprechaun gold being passed off as a galleon.

Evelyn completely agreed with Mr. Masterson. They didn't really need to be there (even if she reeeaaallly wanted to know why LouAnn was 'wanted'), and well, Professor Kazi slightly scares her so she was all for leaving. But the way he said it made Evelyn cross her arms stubbornly and hold her chin somewhat high, not budging an inch towards the door. No way was she leaving now.
It just got even better when the Professor spoke, offering Destiny and her a seat and tea. Giving the Professor a small gracious smile, and a polite "Thank you, sir." Evelyn walked over to one of the seats and sat down, quietly declining the tea. Though when she heard the words 'Jacob Upstead', her head snapped up to first the Professor and then to LouAnn. 'Something to do with Jake?' A little and hard to see smirk appeared on her lips as she listened attentively, taking in every word, and folding her hands in her lap.

Destiny was quite sure Professor Kazimeriz was going to kick her and Evelyn out. But she was wrong. She took the offered seat and gratefully accepted a cup of tea. She needed a drink from all the running around she had done. 'Thank you, Professor.'
Destiny forgot about her tea when Kazi started talking to LouAnn. 'Her and Jake?' Did that mean LouAnn was crazy just like Jake? Well, that could explain the wanted posters.

Ohh...an eyebrow raise. That didn't seem like a good sign at all. She blinked a few times but otherwise said nothing. Professor Kazimeriz's attention was being diverted to Mr. Masterson anyway. Ahh, Mr. Masterson. LouAnn was suddenly really, really thankful for him. Of course she had been before, but now, more than ever, she was really glad to have him by her side. ...and apparently the two Slytherin girls were going to be allowed to stay. LouAnn didn't really feel comfortable having an audience around, but she knew she had no choice.
Then suddenly, all it took were two simple words from the Potions professor, and LouAnn knew exactly why she'd been called in. Or, well, hunted. Jacob Upstead...yes, yes. She had lots to tell about things related to Jake. In answer to his question, yes, a lot of 'somethings' just sprung to mind. She glanced over at Mr. Masterson, thinking how disappointed he'd be in her. He'd stood by her, and now... She didn't even want to think about what would happen now.
A second later her eyes were back on the Potions professor, and she nodded very slowly. When she spoke, her voice came out soft and weak. "Yes, sir. I...know of a few things that spring to mind," she replied. She didn't offer anything else for the time being. Her legs suddenly felt like they were made of Jelly Slugs, and she eyed the chair next to her. "Professor, I need to sit down..." Please.

Oh. The old man was picking a bone with the WRONG person at the wrong moment. He let out a low rumble as Kazimeriz invited the girl's to sit. If they had any sense, they'd learn to speak up for themselves and know when it wasn't there place to be there. Noticing that LouAnn was looking a little weak, he moved a step closer to her, ready to catch her should she fall.

Kazimeriz gestured toward the seats casually. "Yes... Well, I suspected Mr. Upstead's name might jog your memory. Here is another key word that might also help you recall why you are here:
Murder."
He looked her dead in the eye, waiting for her response.

Constantine pulled a chair closer to LouAnn though, so that she sit down. But then Kazimeriz uttered a word that made the colour flee Neo's face. He had figured it out. This...would not end well.

LouAnn's eyes flickered to Mr. Masterson when he moved closer to her. Oh, good. If she happened to fall flat on her face, at least someone would be there to try and catch her and help her back up. She glanced around and around the room, her eyes refusing, for the time being, to fall on Professor Kazimeriz. LouAnn didn't even want to see the anger that she imagined to be in his eyes. He was speaking to her, though, and this...was something she needed to pay close attention to.
A chair (from Mr. Masterson, maybe?) was scooted closer to her, and she promptly sat down, her head falling immediately into the palm of her right hand. She was feeling dizzy and needed to refocus herself before going any further with this conversation. "Can...can we cast something to keep this between the three of us, please?" she asked. To stress her concern, she glanced up and looked deep into the Professor's eyes. "Please, sir. I'll tell you what you need to know, but...please."

'Murder? Jake? Was I right? And...she's...' Eyes widening in surprise, Evelyn glanced at Destiny for a moment, seeing how she was taking this. Did she figure it too? Turning her gaze slowly back to the other three people in the room, she frowned when she heard LouAnn wanted the conversation private. 'Oh, no. Please don't do that. We practically already know.'
Leaning back in the chair a little, she looked down and fiddled with the hem of her jacket, trying to look as if she wasn't paying attention too much. Maybe than the Professor wouldn't cast a silencing spell or something so they couldn't hear...

Kazimeriz's eyes flicked over to Masterson, who did not take up the offer to sit. Interesting. Kazimeriz wondered idly if that were more due to the man's comfort, a need to seem formal, or if it was his passive-aggressive way of showing his discomfort at being taken to school over just who was in charge around this office.
He decided that whatever young Masterson's reasons were, he simply didn't care much. Let the man stand if it pleased him.

He made a show of pondering the request for a moment. The truth was, he really did not wish their conversation to be overheard any more than Miss Purple did. Information was power, and the fewer people who he shared power with, the better things were for everyone. But there was more to it than that. He probably could cast a muffliato charm without an issue, but the reality of things were that the wand he had procured from Mr. Upstead was not a good fit for him, and it was causing unpredictable results. He could not use his own wand, and did not wish to cast on a student with Upstead's, knowing that the spells were going wrong -- spectacularly wrong, in fact. But he certainly did not what anyone to know that.
And yet, to simply eject the two students from his office after making such a point out of allowing them to stay would seem suspicious, and would be like acquiescing to Masterson's original request. He simply wouldn't have that. He took a sip of tea, then set his cup down.
"Now, Miss Purple. Certainly anything we speak about can be said in the company of these two fine pupils. After all, they are now a part of your little situation, in a way. And I believe we can trust them to keep your confidence." He gave the students a look of warning- if their tongues were loose, he would make them regret it.
He settled back, steepling his fingers. He thought for a moment. He needed Purple to be honest about what she did know -- and what she did not.
"Tell me." he stated simply.

The message was understandable even though the Slytherin was on the edge of tears and stuttering as she sent the patronus from the trophy room.
Kazimeriz's attention was diverted by the entry of a patronus. The Upstead boy's half-sister was the owner, judging by the voice. He listened, his eyes narrowing.
"I shall be right back. I ask that none of you leave-- this is a matter most urgent, but I simply must speak to you, Miss Purple." Kazimeriz got up and grabbed his cane, shuffling from the room at a surprising pace.
ooc: if one of you want to respond I'll clone him back into the room to continue.
Kazimeriz smiled indulgently at the girl. "Cool? Well, I suppose in Professor Lawson's eyes it might have been."As it was Professor Truebridge's unsportsmanlike last blow which left me permanent disabled and no longer able to teach Defense, which afforded him the opportunity to work here. Cool indeed. he thought. But he would not speak ill of his colleagues to a student; it simply wouldn't be professional. "Professor Lawson's perspective on the situation is a bit different than my own, however. And compared to some of my previous duels, honestly, dueling Professor Truebridge was child's play... or would have been, had he not struck a ..."cheap shot"..a final blow after the duel had concluded. But even still, Truebridge is of moderate talent at best." Apparently, he COULD speak ill of his colleagues. Tsk, tsk. Bitter much?
"That is to say that it was nothing compared to my previous duels. For example -- my duel against Anotonin Dolohov, now that was an epic battle, one of the most memorable duels of my life. He was one of the most singularly gifted wizards I've ever seen, aside from Dumbledore and of course the Dark Lord himself... I defeated him, but just barely. But then, I was a much younger man back then, before the second fall of the Dark Lord Voldemort." Ah, memories. He smiled a little, sipping his tea. He had so many stories, as a 104 year old former Auror, but rarely had opportunity to share them. Most students were too self-interested to want to hear the tales of an old man's history. Pity.
Bella listened with great interest, nodding and 'hmmmming' at the right moments. "Wow..." She murmered, taking it all in. "Yes, Dumbledore was amazing, and the Dark lord too i guess..." Amazing? No..."Well, not the Dark Lord, being amazing I mean, well, he was...not, because he is good, but bot good.." She spluttered, how was she to put it? Bella put that aside, and carried on with her former convostation, the one that interested her most. "So...You defeated him? In what sense? Did he die? What happens when you defete someone?" She was rather eager with her questions, and didn't want to overwelme him, so she settled for one more, "And why did you have so many duels, were you an Auror?"

He smiled weakly at the girl. "On any other day, I would be eager to share my experiences with you. It is a rare thing when a student actually takes the opportunity to learn from the past of her elders, and I would be more than happy to regale you with stories of my history, which I assure you is dramatic and fascinating indeed. However, it is regrettably not the time nor place... I wish to do the stories justice, but first I am afraid serious business needs to be resolved here with young Miss Purple."
He turned to Purple, then paused and smiled a little at the curious girl. "But in answer to your last question, yes, I was an auror. A recipient of the Order of Merlin, in fact." He tipped her a small wink, then turned his attention back to Purple, his expression once again stern.
"Before we were so regrettably interrupted, you were about to share your own story with us, Miss Purple, at least as it relates to Jacob Upstead and a certain tale of murder. Leave nothing out." He glowered at her as he spoke, as though he might Avada Kedavra her if she did not comply.

Evelyn glanced up to the Professor just as he was giving Destiny and her a look, making her freeze. Did he think they would tell? Of course not! Well, maybe she was thinking about it, but she definitely wasn't anymore. That look was just...*shiver* Looking awkwardly around when the Professor left, something about another dead body, more than likely another student, she took a deep breathe and just stared at the Professor's desk.
When he returned though, she could feel something was up and wanted to ask what happened, but he already started to speak and the stare he was giving LouAnn...best not to ask right now. All she could think about though was 'Who died?'

LouAnn simply stared at the professor as he seemed to ponder the right answer to her request. Her eyes searched deep within his, and although she found no answer, she continued to silently plead with him. She was nervous enough as it was, and having an audience just unnerved her that much more. When he finally spoke and denied her request, her eyes lightly closed for a moment while she let that sink in. She'd have to share her deepest, darkest secrets to students she'd never even spoken to before. After everything was said and done, though, they'd probably find out anyway. The whole school would probably find out, so why hide now?
That thought alone helped her accept his decision, so she peeled her eyes open and nodded a few times. "Yes, I understand," she replied, her eyes flickering to Mr. Masterson just once more. She still hoped he wouldn't hate her after she spilled all her secrets. He'd be...startled, hurt, confused...probably all of the above, but hopefully he'd come around. He'd have to, right? He was family. When she'd finally stalled long enough, she opened her mouth and uttered a single word---"I...,"---before being interrupted by a patronus message. A...dead body? Oh, no! It bought her some time, though, so she relaxed a little and rested her head in her palm while she waited for him to return.

When the door opened once again, LouAnn glanced up to see the professor making his way back in. A flicker of something (maybe regret for attributing to the way he looked) shown in her eyes for just a split second. It was then that she noticed there was a third student (besides her) present in the room. It made her just a tiny bit more uneasy, but she'd manage.
It was time for her to share her story now. There'd be no more stalling. There'd be no more begging and pleading. It was now or...now. There were no other options. "The first thing I should tell you is that my story is full of theories. It's full of conclusions I've come up with...conclusions that I only think are correct," she revealed. It was true. She'd only pieced together a puzzle based on nightmares and black out sessions alone.
She grew silent for a few minutes while she prepared herself for the rest of the conversation. It was during that time the inevitable waterworks finally started. She was starting to sob by the time she opened her mouth to speak again. "There are things that have happened that would blow your mind. There are things that are happening right underneath your nose that would keep you awake at night if you knew," she said, her words coming out far too quickly. She was so nervous that everything was coming out all together as if it consisted only of one long word. "I believe myself to be responsible for at least half of these things. I didn't mean to...I had to. I'm sorry. I'm so, sooo sorry."

Kazimeriz looked at her dispassionately. "You presume much, Miss Purple. Do not presume that your sordid tale will surprise me in the least, much less disturb my slumber. Now, spare us the theatrics and apologies and tell your tale. The hour grows late and we have another body to bury."
you live your life just once, so don't forget about a thing called love.
Constantine looked indifferent on his own. He'd lost his fair share of sleep in 18 years, one more night wouldn't hurt. Though, he highly doubted anything she could say would really disturb him that much. He threw another glowering look though at Kazimeriz; this was his family that this man was speaking so rudely and carelessly to. His attention then moved away from the old man and back to LouAnn, waiting for this supposed store.

"This is real to me, Professor. This is something I've had to deal with for many months, and I...I have often wished I could sit down and tell someone about it. I've wished that I could share my secrets with someone who could help me," she admitted. It seemed too easy for him to sit across from her and encourage her to spare the theatrics. He wouldn't lose sleep over this, but she had. "It's kept me up many, many nights, and while it isn't an issue to a lot of others it's doing quite a number on me." She choked back a sob then dried her eyes with the end of her sleeve.
She'd tell the tale, though. If that was what he wanted, that's what he'd get. She could only tell so much, though. The rest would be left up to mere conclusions. "I've had recurring nightmares that I'm responsible for...two...deaths. In the beginning, the nightmares were only of Kyle and I. He was yelling for me to help him, but I didn't. I just stood there while something happened to him," she shared. What was happening was still a mystery to her.
"The nightmares changed, though. Soon, Kyle was asking me to save him rather than to just help him. I never could see what I needed to save him from. All I could ever see was myself, Kyle, and...another boy. That's not all, though. Finally, in the nightmares, Kyle was yelling at me to stop...he told me stop!" she exclaimed. "...and now he's dead!" A fresh wave of sobs came on, and LouAnn buried her hands in her palms. That was all she could tell for now. That had been difficult enough.

Constantine's face grew somber as LouAnn told her story. He wished she wouldn't, it only confirmed his unwanted thoughts more and more. But then she was starting to cry, and he couldn't stand it anymore. He gently placed his hand on her shoulder and gripped it. It didn't matter (well, it did) what she had done, she was still family.
Even so, he highly doubted that the killings were entirely HER doing...it just didn't seem to fit.
