Please do not post here until the Professor has invited you in. Please use the office doorway thread to knock and gain admittance to the Professor's office.

The warm interior of Professor Kazimeriz's office is simply lit with a candlelight chandelier. While it is well organized and fastidiously tidy, the floor to ceiling mahogany shelves are overflowing with thick, ancient books and curiosities that the professor has collected during nearly a century of travels. The walls are decorated with tribal masks and other oddities as well as moving photographs of distant lands and distant people. Several photos are of the professor himself, posing with various wizards, witches, hobgoblins, werewolves, vampires and other magical beings.

At the center of the office is a large mahogany desk with a deeply cushioned leather chair behind it. On the desk are a few artifacts, including a glass-encased hand of glory. There is also a quill, blotter and a photograph of a much younger Professor Kazimeriz with a woman and small child.

At the back of the room there is a large, locked, wood and glass enclosed curio cabinet which contains a variety of objects. Each object has a note card describing the object and the curse placed on it. To the right of the cabinet, there is a brass bell dangling from a wrought iron hook. In this area, there is also a fastidious workspace featuring a triple-locked glass cabinet housing potions ingredients. On the counter you will find an array of potions-making equipment: phials, alembics, stills,and of course several cauldrons in various states of steaming and brewing. The bookshelves are jammed with many ancient texts: An anonymous treatise on the Philosophers' stone, An hundred aphorisms containing the whole body of magic from Ms. Sloane 1321, Basil Valentine's Triumphal Chariot of Antimony, Advanced Potion-Making by Libatius Borage, Moste Potente Potions, Magical Drafts and Potions by Arsenius Jigger, Compleat Potions by Horace Slughorn, and many others.

Comfortable, overstuffed chairs and sofas are positioned within the office near the fireplace sitting area and across from the professor's desk. The smell of tea and warm sugar cookies lingers in the air, mingling with the scent of the burning pine log in the fireplace and the occasional wafting scent of whatever happens to be brewing at the moment.

When you are invited in, please make yourself comfortable.

Rey headed out and to the secet passage he was talking about, walking slowly but not so slowly as to give offense. They'd be back in his office in no time (via his quarters which were something of a mess at the moment but that couldn't be helped).

Kazimeriz shuffled into his office, going directly to his seat behind his desk.

He waited for Upstead to enter the room, shuffling through the papers on his desk as he waited.

Remembering that the last time he was here was that time he'd scarpered, Jake shuddered and followed Kazi into the room, a few minutes after the man. So yeah, he probably should have made it first or at least at the same time... but... you know... shiny distractions.

And... eeee... the old man did NOT seem too pleased.

As he sidled into the room, shutting the door behind him against his own good judgement, Jake did not take a seat, but simply stood in silence, closer to the door than he was to the desk.

You are, no doubt, feeling in quite the confessional mood, on the heels of our little tea with the headmaster. So now is your chance. Confess to me precisely the bad acts you have perpetrated that may have contributed to the professor's rather extreme detention, and any other troublemaking you have been guilty of, and save us both a great deal of hassle. You may very well save your own hide in the process. Also--" his dark eyes gleamed "I will not tolerate any of your typical shenanigans. If you lie, I will know. Begin." he said.

Not really noticing the way in which Kazi spoke, Jake stepped forwards and sat down in one of the chairs, fidgeting around in a very uncomfortable manner. BAH! He hated it when people made him feel bad about stuff... or rather, tried to. Or succeeded in it even if they weren't trying.

One of those was happening here.

"I..." he started, wondering what Kaz could possibly meeeeean when he referred to Jake's 'usual shenanigans'. "Wuh-well... I tuh-tuh-told the tuh-truth..." he said once again, stutter coming out in full now. What if he totally HAD done something and it was during one of the black-out times. Eeeep. "I tuh-told yyyyou what h-h-happened. Iffff I duh-did anythin' else... thuh-then it's one of th' things I did when I..." Jake trailed off, knowing he would sound INSANE if he said that. "I don' remember..."

Kazimeriz's eyes narrowed as he listened, keeping them trained on Upstead's eyes like lasers. "One of the things you did when you what, Mr. Upstead?" he asked.

Glancing towards Kazi, Jake made eye contact for a breif moment, and immediately looked away.

Oh dear... the eye contact kinda... made Jake extremely uncomfortable. He'd never ever been any good with eye contact of any kind, and though he probably now appeared guilty, Jake began darting his eyes about, looking for something to focus on, realising he was quite familiar with this office now.

Eyes flicking up for just a second, not long enough to really register the change in expression at that moment, Jake kept silent and still for about half a minute, before nodding his head ever so slightly, bringing his hand up to bite on the end of his thumbnail. He felt slightly ashamed, and he hadn't even told the worst, and to be honest, he really didn't want to.

Opening his mouth a little in order to speak, Jake closed his mouth and bowed his head, continuing to look ashamed, as though it was a personal weakness...

... which of course it was.

Kazimeriz leaned forward slightly, focusing fully on Upstead, watching his every move with an intensity that was almost greedily curious... like a scientist watching a lab rat after giving it a dose of Chemical X.

"Nuh-no!" Jake exclaimed, just a tiny bit frantic, he finally looked up at Kazi, expression showing his utter fear and desperation. Okay, so... that probably meant nothing to Kazi, if his comments on Bontecou's muggle gadgets earlier were anything to go by.

"I've missed... en-entire DAYS..." the boy added, upping the volume a little bit. That was, in fact scary.

As to the question about evidence, Jake stalled. Should he say? Technically, missing out the truth wasn't lying if he didn't answer at all... right? But still... the way the stones he had... somehow... sometimes they went down in number, and Jake didn't feel the same dread whe this happened if he did when one temporarily fell pout of his pocket. As he thought this. Jake's hand drifted down to his trouser pocket... where five...

Wait five?

...

... five of the stones were currently sitting.

Had he told anyone else?

"Ab-about the not rrrrremembering... yeah... b-but not th-th-the buh-black outs..."

Saying nothing, Jake looked slowly up at Kazi and shook his head, just as slowly as he'd looked up. More so.

The was tooooootally stretching the rules of the loophole now, and Jake figured it would only be a matter of time before something happened. He took his hand away from his pocket.

"Sir... th-there wuh-was this one thuh-thing..." he said slowly, wondering how he could phrase this carefully without arousing more suspicion. "I wanted... hhhhelp with. Advice...? Or ssssomething."

He turned and reached into his wand pocket to summon his messenger patronus. A perplexed expression crossed his face. Wand? What wand? He checked his other pocket. No wand. He glanced suspiciously at Upstead, then-- knowing it was illogical but unable to help himself-- checked his pocket again. Nothing.

He walked over to his coat rack, checking the pocket on his cape. Nothing.

He returned to his desk, a worried, pinched look on his face. Picking up a quill, he wrote a note on a small piece of parchment, slipping it into a small envelope and going over to a small cage in the corner. In the cage was a wee long-whiskered owlet. The tiny owl took the letter eagerly, swooping out of the room through a small portal in the Professor's door.

"Now, while we wait... Turn out your pockets, Mr. Upstead." he glanced specifically at the pocket which Jake's hand found so interesting.

Jake looked up, no longer hiding his face, when Kazi told him to empty his pockets. "Why?" he asked, going slightly wide-eyed and not moving a muscle, except to twitch his elbow so it sheilded the pocket from view. Subconsciously of course.

Feeling an unpleasant flip in his stomach, Jake continued to stare at Kaz for about a minute, before slowly reaching into his pockets and laying everything out on the desk. In the end there lay three wands, a few scrunched up pieces of paper, a page ripped out from a stolen library book on dark-ish magic, a folded up picture of his foster mother... and that was it.

Kazimeriz kept his expression stoic as he saw not one, but three wands accompany the litter on the desk. After a moment, he reached over and picked them up, examining them. Setting them down, he picked up the scraps of paper, looking at them, and then at the ripped page. He glanced over the library book page enough to know what the topic of the leaf was. His expression did not change. He looked at the wands, picking them back up again.

"These are not yours." he said, glancing up at the boy as though waiting for an explanation.
