Oh, good. Now maybe someone could help him with that Ancient Runes assignment -- it was eating him from the inside!

"Sooo... who is good at Ancient Runes?" he queried, with a hopeful glance at the general student body in the vicinity. "Oh, and if anyone would like a hand with their Transfiguration homework, I'm here."

Sure Livvy wasn't in charge or anything but at that moment, it was chaos. Well, close to chaos. Maybe. But she didn't appreciate the shouting around at people when they were like right next to each other. This was a library for pete's sake! Not some sort of playground or a Quidditch pitch. Save the yelling for later. Livvy stared at some of the students with a hard look and stood up.

"Okay guys. To make things easier, people that want to work on Transfiguration homework... go to the left side of the area and people that want to work on Ancient Runes homework go on the right side. That way you won't be shouting at each other searching for someone to work on homework with. Once you've finished one, you may switch sides to work on the other. If you wish to work alone... well then... this doesn't include you. You can pretty much sit wherever you want. And if you've completed all homework, feel free to walk around and offer any assistance," she said nodding her head. She then threw Chris an apologetic glance for taking over.

She probably could've just told him to say that, but Livvy felt the need to just speak up. Plus she really needed to do homework and she did NOT want to waste time. Ahhhh... if only she was a Prefect. But she probably wouldn't have been a good Prefect. Livvy was too much of a slacker and a sneaky rule breaker. Secretly of course. Done with much stealth.

Mina smiled brightly. "I would like that." Turning to see Carter nod in agreement as well, she got a little excited. It could be an expedition.
"Yeah, I have to do my ancient runes too, but I need to finish my transfiguration first." she explained as she eyed her little chess piece in front of her. She had managed to get the hang of the assignment, but she still needed to do it with a partner. Hearing a voice, she looked up in the direction of it.
Giving the older 'claw her attention, she listened carefully. Her suggestion was very wise after all. Looking to the left of the room, she hoped to find a partner so she could then get on with her other homework. She wanted to just get it done so she could work on the essay for her chance at the tickets for the Quidditch World Cup.

"Its pretty easy, I'm sure you could." Celandine answered, giving Rafe a good natured smile.

"Of course." Cela answered. She sooo didn't mind. She beamed up at Chris and and tipped her head to one side. Yup. Homework.

"There's a potions Essay too Chris." Cela pointed out. She had her trusty notes for that subject too, even though they weren't exactly written by her.

"I can help you guys with Ancient Runes. I'm pretty much awesome at it." Cela told the two Gryffindors with absolutely no modesty whatsoever. "Shall we work on it together?"

"Good idea Livvy." Celandine answered cheerfully.

"Great! We can meet down there tomorrow morning!" Cela suggested. "You can bring any of your friends who might be interested. We can meet in the student garden by the puffas and fluttas." Celandine smiled brightly at Mina. "I'm going to work on my Runes homework, if you need a hand let me know, okay?"

Cela shifted a few desks over so she was closer to the right side of the study area but still near the middle in case anyone needed some help.

"I guess the first thing to do will be to think of a question and it should relate to a person since the Great Tree spread relates to an individual's character." Celandine said out loud, peeking at the others working on Runes homework.

She liked runes a LOT, even if she was so sure Professor Lupa didn't like her.

Fyo blinked. Um... "Sure," he said, but the truth was, he was not sure. He wanted to work on both subjects and... oh well, one would have to wait till the other was wrapped up.
Oooh, that sounded like a good idea! Besides, Cela was made of win, and Fyo would be glad of her assistance. "Thank you," he said, as he stood up to move over to the side of the library Livvy had decided would be best for those who wished to work on their Ancient Runes assignment.

"I'm Fyo Balouch, by the way," he introduced himself, as he sat down. "The first name's short for Fyodor. Soooo... where do we begin?"

He honestly had no clue.

"I know who you are." Cela answered, complete with a hair flip. "Scorpions." She added by way of explanation.

She smiled brightly at him.

"Well for starters, do you have a rune kit?" Cela got hers out of her bag and placed it on the table. "What do you know about the Great Tree spead?" She extended the question out, in case anyone else wanted to work with them.

Celandine put her hand in her rune bag and just played with the runes within.

Carter scooted his chair over to the side working on ancient runes. He flipped to his notes from class. "It is a 5 rune spread." he said.

Why was Jack even here? He didn't usually need to attend study groups, simply because studying in a GROUP was not usually his method of choice. But, the Gryffindor prefects WERE holding this one, so he figured he should at least check it out, and show some support for Chris and...that strange girl that was their girl prefect. How did he not know her name?! He really needed to start talking to more people in his house that were NOT on the Quidditch team.

As he entered the little study area, he looked around to see people partnering off to do various homework assignments. Oh GREAT. He'd missed partner picking AGAIN. He looked around, scanning the room to see if other people needed a partner. Sigh.

Finally, he spotted Livvy a few feet away, who seemed to be partnerless. Or, erm, she was standing alone, at least. She had been a pretty good partner in Defense class, so maybe they'd be able to get high marks on Transfiguration too!

"Hey Livvy!" he said, making his way through the crowded area and tapping her on the shoulder. "Do you still need a partner?"

"Right." Cela agreed encouragingly. "But what kind of spread is it? Like, what is the purpose of doing a Great Tree spread instead of another kind? Do you know what the 'Great Tree' is? See, it makes it easier when you know why you are doing a certain spread, because if you keep that in mind it helps make sure your interpretation is more spot on."

She'd show her notes soon enough, but she didn't want to just... give it all up.

"Oh, awesome! Thanks!" LouAnn said, watching in fascination as Cela duplicated her notes. That girl seriously knew just about every spell out there, didn't she? LouAnn got comfortable in her seat while she began to read over the notes. She knew it was a good idea to come to this study session! Had she not...would she even have known enough to get her homework done?

"Oh, hey, Rafe! Sure, that'd be made-of-win amazing to do!" she replied. A dance-off sounded really fun and unique, and to be honest, LouAnn was really curious to see how a chess piece looked when it cut a rug. She glanced over Cela's not again, reading up on what they'd done in class. She didn't really remember since she'd sort of sat there the entire time and done nothing but toss a marshmallow. "Alright, alright. Yeah, I can do this. Cool," she said.

Whew. People seemed to approve of the plan she had come up with. The whole... splitting up into different sides seemed to pan out well. She smiled as she saw some of the younger students split up and heading to different sides of the room, depending on which assignment they wanted to work on. Livvy could deal with the responsibility. PSH. Yah. Sure.

And then she realized. What. Was. She. Doing. ..? Shouldn't she be looking for a partner right about now to do Transfiguration homework? That assignment needed to be done... like... NOW. Grrrr... Livvy glanced around with a disgruntled look on her face as she looked around for a partner. Ehhh.. no... looked like pretty much everyone just needed to work on Transfiguration. Pfft. Livvy would deal with that later. For now. Transfigurattttion.

Someone said her name? EHH? Livvy whirled around in circles to see who it was and it was only until the person came up closer and tapped her on the shoulder, was she able to find out. "Oh! Hey Jack! Do I need a partner? PSH. Yaaahhh," she said, grinning and chuckling giddily.

"I take it that you're asking to be my partner thennnn?" Livvy asked, reconfirming. Well if he didn't want to be her partner, why would he be standing there? GEESH. "I need to work on Transfiguration and Ancient Runes. You?"

"Well you have to have a question about someone in mind." Carter said remembering the question they discussed in class was about the new minister. "And there's a rune for thoughts... and one for emotions... and... 3 other ones..."

Rafe rummaged in his satchel and pulled out two pieces, a King and a Queen. "Would you like to use one of my pieces?" Rafe offered. He put them on the table in front of him and then pulled out his wand. "Umm...I'm not sure if I'm going to be very good at this, but ladies' first!" Rafe was a little nervous. He didn't pay much attention in class about it, and didn't know if he could cast the spell and it work on the first try. That would be very embarrassing in front of everyone...and LouAnn.

Jack nodded. "Same here. Those are the only two assignments I have left," he said with a smile. He looked around for an empty table and spotted one a few feet away, and he walked over, beckoning for her to follow him. He dropped his bag with a loud thud on the chair and pulled the chair out for her, grinning at his Gryffindorish chivalry. Hehe.

He sat down across from her and pulled out his notes for both subjects and sighed. "Ok, what do you want to do first?" he asked. "Transfiguration, or Ancient Runes? I vote Transfiguration because...I think we'll get that done faster," he said with a grin.

Well the partner hunt need continue no further. Grinning happily that she had found a partner, Livvy noticed Jack's hand gestures and followed him towards an empty table that was just a ways away. Just as she was about to reach out to pull out her chair, Jack did it for her. Oh! How gentlemanly. Were all Gryffindors like that? Livvy laughed and rolled her eyes as she took the seat. "Thank you," she said as she let her book bag drop to the floor also.

Livvy opened up her bag and went through it, taking out her notes and textbooks out and placing them on the table before her. Bum de bum buuum. She pulled out a few pieces of parchment and a quill, laying them next to her notes. "Transfiguration. It's due sooner. And that too," Livvy said, her face reflecting the same expression Jack wore.

She bent back down towards her bag opened up the front pocket to reveal a couple of chess pieces that she had taken during Transfiguration class. Livvy grabbed a couple, not knowing how much she would need, and set them on the table. "So... Mr. Fritzera. What are you in the mood for? A dance-off... or a race?" she inquired with a sly smile and cocked her head to one side.

"Right." Cela nodded. "The Great Tree spread helps you gain insight into a person's character, so when you are wanting to know the answer to a question regarding an individual, that is when you use the Great Tree spread. It is named for Yggdrasil, in Norse Mythology it is the centre of all things, kind of like in the reading, when you are asking a question about a person, the centre is the self."

Celandine beamed at him some more. "Right. The different rune positions have different meanings. The first one is the Branch of the Heart, it gives insights into the emotional character of the individual and the forces which define their emotional state and influence their emotional ideals. That one is the top left rune. The next one, at the top right of the spread is The Branch of the Mind, which tells us the logical charcter of a person and helps us to see what underpins their logical or critical thought."

Cela peeked at the others to see if they were listening.

"The one directly under the Branch of the heart, the bottom left, represents the Supporting Branches. This tells us what is hidden within, the forces operating on their subconcious self and the aspects of themselves that they hide from general view. Next to that one we have the position representing Future Growth, which tells us what newly brewing forces will become major influences in the future. It tells us what issues are on the rise. Then the last one at the bottom, represents The Trunk and shows us what as at the core of a person's nature. So, like central concepts, driving forces and forces that hold them back from moving forward." Cela explained.

Ooooh, Fyo remembered that! "I remember," he said, with a smile, and then he nodded when she asked if he had a rune kit.

The Great Tree Spread? YUSH, he remembered the answer to that, from class. Oh joy, oh joy, I remember something! "It's a five rune spread that helps you gain insight into an individual's character," he said, pretty sure that he was correct. Or at least, he hoped he was.
Umm, right. That was HEAPS of information, and Fyo was trying his best to digest it... slowwwwwllyyyy. "Soooo... it really works?" he interjected, when she mentioned its use in more detail. "I mean -" Cue internal!blush?

Gaah, stuuupid question.

Carter understood her explanation a lot better than he understood the lesson. Maybe this study area thing was a good idea. He was glad he came. He just had one question left. "So what's the difference between the supporting branches and the trunk? he asked.

"Of course." Celandine seemed surprised by the question. "But you know rune reading is only a guide of what might happen if something stays on the same path? It doesn't tell you what is set in stone, its just an aid for figuring out direction. See, if you look at Ancient Runes as a combination of Arithmancy and Divination, it makes it easier to grasp how it works. Some things are set in stone, like the meanings of the runes and how they pertain to letters, but other things are completely based on instinct and intuition, like with divination readings."

"Good question!" Cela answered, pleased that Carter was following. "The Supporting Branches position, is more of a representation of what isn't known, either in the form of what an individual keeps hidden or alternatively what forces work on them subconciously. Its the stuff that you can't tell at first glance and often the stuff that a person isn't completely honest about. The difference is that the Trunk is a representation of the true self, not the hidden self. Thats sort of like the part where you can look at someone and know something about their character and what drives them just by talking to them or hearing them talk. Its the soul and the personality all tied up into one." Celandine explained, hoping she was making it clear enough. "Most of all the Trunk is what drives you, what inspires you to live."

Arithmancy? Fyo's eyes brightened at the mention of his super!favourite subject. "I think I understand that," he said, a little slowly. It was easier to grasp runes, in terms of subjects he was better at. Not that he was very good at Divination, either - it kind of eluded him, at times.

"So..." he peered at his notes. "The homework tells us to, 'Do a Great Tree spread.' Does that mean we...?" He stopped, and blinked. He was such a major fail at Ancient Runes, it embarrassed the living daylights out of him. "Sorry, I know I'm pathetic at this subject." But at least he had always been able to scrape by with an O in most of the other subjects he took.

Divination was, of course, another exception.

Carter nodded. "I think I get it." he said hitting the feather part of his quill gently against his temple. Wow, was that a lot more effective with a muggle pencil... "So, basically the supporting branches is the person's subconscious, like feeling they aren't even aware of. And the trunk would be what they consciously do and go after." he said hoping his thought made sense. Maybe this homework was a lot easier than he thought it would be.

Jack nodded. He had forgotten that Ancient Runes was due after Transfiguration...all he knew was, he had to do a spread and spreads were just not his thing. Maybe it WAS a good thing that he had come to this meeting after all, yes?

"OOOOH dance off!" he exclaimed. That sounded SO much better than his idea. He had been going to suggest sumo wrestling, but a dance off sounded so much more fun. Was there a radio nearby? They needed to get some cool hip hop beats going to get the chess pieces in the mood!

He reached into his bag and took out his piece, placing his bishop in the middle of the table. "My bishop is going to PWN your...chess piece!" he joked with a grin, and part of him wished he had a bunch of peeps with him too. They could be a line of judges!

"It means we should think of a question pertaining to an individual and then draw the runes for the reading and then interpret it." Cela supplied cheerfully. "Its okay. I like runes, I don't mind helping people so that they can like runes too!"

"Subconcious feelings or hidden feelings, some people are far more aware of what is going in inside them and they hide it intentionally. It helps if you just look at it like the unseen part of a person. Like how when someone has a crush but doesn't want anyone to know about it, they might hide it even if they show subconcious hints that they are crushing on someone. Supporting Branches would be that, whereas the Trunk would be if someone is irrevocably in love with a person and much of who they are is wrapped up in the other person. Teehee, I'm probably confusing you now. Shall we try doing a reading? We each need to think of a question."

Oh. Ancient Runes. Joy. Personally, Livvy would rather do Transfiguration than Ancient Runes for like... ever. She didn't want to do the whole spread thingie. She found the concept rather hard to grasp and the class just always seemed to lose her interest. Odd when you had a werewolf for a teacher.

DANCE-OFF! YEAAAHH.

Livvy liked the sound of that. She beamed and wondered where Rachel was. They could've done this assignment togeeetther. Then again, knowing Rachel, she probably had already finished the assignment the day it was handed out. The over-achiever. But Livvy loved that girl. But even if Rachel wasn't here, she wished that more of her friends were there so the competition thing could be like a group competition. Just two people seemed, honestly, rather dorky yet funny. It would be awesomer if more people had come.

Mhm. Oh well. She'd get over it.

OHHHH... he did NOT just go theeere. Livvy laughed and snorted. "Sure Jack. Wait till my rook beats your bishop to a ppuuu-ulp," she said, smirking as she pulled out her rook and set it on the table. Mhm. If only there was music. Without music it just seemed... weird.

Okayyyy, so that made a lot more sense. "Thanks," Fyo said, with a grin. "I like runes, to be honest, there's just the teensy weensy problem that, for the most part, I don't get them." Le sigh, maybe?
Ooooh, goodie! "I think so," Fyo said, not certain how to go about this, but deciding that he would give it his best shot. He had to think of a question now, right? Umm... How about... Ah yes, he had it!
