She sat down and looked through her books, she decided 2 study up on her charms as this is the subject she was best in

Libraries.....not really Kaiyo's forte but she figured a change of scenery never hurt anyone, unless of course she managed to drop heavy books onto her head....again.

Her red ribbon was tied tightly across her forehead, just visible beneath her blonde hair. Dropping her books onto the nearest table, Kaiyo smiled at the girl already studying at the other end. Smiling politely as she took a seat opposite her. Without trying to be too nosy Kaiyo leant closer to try and see what she was studying. Glancing down to her books Kaiyo glanced between them all trying to decide what subject to start with.

When Celandine mentioned that her wand was stiffer than both LouAnn's and Chris', LouAnn glanced down at her own wand and studied it for a few minutes. She'd never really given much thought to how sturdy her wand was. It'd never really been an issue before. Then again, she hadn't been in many duels before in her lifetime---not even practice duels. She'd only ever been to a real school when she was eleven and twelve years old. Since then, she'd only had lessons at home.

"Oh, hmm...what does a stiffer wand help with?" she asked. "More durable?" She glanced from Cela to Nancy to Chris, directing her question to all three of them.

Joking back, LouAnn stuck her tongue out, as well, then listened as Chris listed the subjects he still had work in.

LouAnn studied Cela's wand for just a moment, then took out her own wand. It was the one she'd gotten in Diagon Alley just before she started her first year of magical school---in France. "Mine is Willow; Phoenix Feather Core; 10 3/4 inches," she reported. She'd never really put much thought into what all of that meant, though. No time like the present.
Chris laughed as LouAnn stuck her tongue out too. He stopped for a second and thought about something. He felt different around LouAnn lately. He wasn't sure what it was though. He smiled at her and then shook his head for a minute as she began to talk about her wand. 'Stop gawking at her Chris!' he thought to himself. Chris nodded interestedly as she finished talking.

Chris nodded as he examined his wand next to Cela's. "Yeah you're right. Yours is so dark, and mine is way lighter. And see mine also gets lighter as it gets closer to the tip."

Chris nodded "So my wand is only about an inch to less than an inch shorter than your's and LouAnn's?" he said as he chanced a quick glance at LouAnn.

But slwishy wand have been rumored to be better at Charms." he nodded.

"You mean, longer." Celandine winked at Chris. Mine is about an inch shorter than yours. "I don't really know what length has to do with. But flexibiltiy has to do with how hard it is to use a wand. More swishy and flexible it is, the easier it is to master spells, but the more stiff and unyielding it is, the more powerful the spells are when you do master them."

Truthfully, he WAS a Hufflepuff AND he scored pretty high on his History OWL. Not to mention that Truebridge was one of his best professors. Maybe bias was present that he had been blind to? Possibly. But if there was, then it definitely wasn't house-related, since Copernicus didn't really have any issues with History either.

"I'm sure it's nothing personal," Dominic tried to comfort his housemate. "We each have our own strengths and weaknesses." Whatever the heck that meant.

Dominic turned towards Copernicus and nodded when the Ravenclaw apologized again. He knew Copernicus meant well, but at the same time, the boy had found someone . . . . and someone to love him back. Dominic thought he did, but somehow, his failure with understanding human emotions had led him to a failure in developing a relationship with another.

Sighing, he blinked as he took in what Copernicus said next. That wasn't the first time someone mentioned the dueling arena to him this term. "Wandwork has never really been a strong point for me. But yes, reviewing in the arena does sound helpful." Pausing thoughtfully, the seventeen year old tried to think of other ideas that could help them to be best prepared for NEWTs. "You know, I wonder, Copernicus . . . Animagi. It's a complex form of magic and will definitely require a bit of studying and research. But perhaps . . ." Biting his lower lip, as he thought it over some more. If the were successful, then they'd definitely be some of the most prepared for NEWT exams in many years. And if not, then at least they could say they tried; which was more than some.

But he and Copernicus were probably two of the brightest students in their year; thus, if anyone could achieve it, then they'd be likely. Especially with working together. And since Copernicus was a Ravenclaw . . .

"You up for the challenge, mate?" he finally asked.

"Yeah, absolutely," Copernicus said with almost no hesitation. "We'll have to chat with Svenssen, I think, but it sounds good to me." Imagine how much good studying in Transfig they'd get in just to understand the basics of the Animagus spell. Even if they weren't successful (but they WOULD be... Kettleburn and Denton FTW), they'd learn a lot from the effort.

Besides, it would take Denton's mind off the Amazon, and they all needed their Head Boy to snap out of it.

Chris and Cela - also, Muggle Studies homework post #1

LouAnn laughed along with Chris, stopping only when he did. He looked thoughtful about something, like he'd suddenly remembered or realized something then gotten into deep thought about it. The moment ended, though, when Chris turned to talk with Cela. LouAnn went back to studying her own wand and wondering how Chris and Cela knew so much about wands. LouAnn felt so---unintelligent sometimes. She sighed softly and turned back to Chris. "Hmm...well, I guess mine is really good at charms, then," she mused.

"Oh, while I'm thinking about it, pose, Cela!" LouAnn said, pulling out the camera she'd been given in Muggle Studies class. She raised the little muggle object to her eyes, moved it around until she had Cela and nice and centered, then snapped the picture. "Sorry for the randomness, but, erm...yeah. Thanks, Cela!"

Madame Kohan made her way to the front of the library after placing a few books into their respective places in the bookshelves. The study group was a new idea this term, and she hoped that it was working out. It had been a great idea to promote interhouse unity.

As she turned a corner, she stopped short, and then smiled as she took in the rather large group of students chattering. She overhead snatches of conversation and was pleased to discover that they were focused on their study material rather than simply chatting about their lives.

She ventured into the group, passing a group that was speaking of wands. "Hello, everyone. How's the study session coming along?"

Roselyn 10-19-2009 01:45 AM

Evelyn, who was leaning back in her chair and had been trying to balance her quill on her nose, turned her head slightly to her right to see who had spoke. The voice didn't sound like one of the students she had been listening to in the study groups, and definitely didn't look like a student either. Choking slightly, she grabbed the quill off of her nose and leaned forward, crashing into the desk, hastily trying to look like she was busy. "Okay done with my paper." she mumbled, looking over to Destiny to see what she was doing. 'When do we get out of here? Or can we just leave?'

Destiny 10-19-2009 01:57 AM

I seriously forgot about study area.. sorry!!

Destiny, who was practically falling asleep, jumped when Evelyn came crashing down on the desk. 'I'm awake!' She took a minute to look around the room to see where she was at and to see had been drooling over her parchment. 'Oh,' she said realizing that she was still in the study area and not in her bed. Looking at Evelyn she gave an embarrassed smile. 'I'm done mine too. Maybe we can leave now?'

Evelyn laughed when Destiny seemed startled awake. Glancing at her paper, there sure enough was a big drool spot right in the middle of it. "You should send it in like that." she said, pointing to the spot, "I want to see Professor Bunbury's reaction next class."

Smiling, she looked around, debating whether or not to just leave. Sighing, she raised her hand. "Miiiiissssszzzz...Head Girl." Evelyn said, already forgetting the Head Girl's name. "When do we get to leave? Or can we just go..."

'Haha, verrrry funny!' Destiny joked trying to dry the drool spot with the sleeve of her robes. 'Great, now the ink is all smeary. Oh well, Bunbury will get it just like this.' She tried to fix the smeared letters as best as she could. Holding it up to the light and turning the parchment slightly, she gave a nod. 'There! Good as new. Well, sort of..'

Hearing Evelyn call the head girl, Destiny laughed. 'Miss Head Girl?'

Evelyn watched, extremely amused, as Destiny was trying to fix her paper, but only ending up making it worse. Laughing, she gave Destiny a 'What?' look, glancing over to the head girl. "I forgot her name, okay?" she said, still laughing a little. "What am i supposed to call her?"

Cela posed obligingly.

"Do you guys think that your wands are still right for you? I got mine in first year like normal, I wonder if it would still choose me or if a different kind would now?" Celandine asked the others musingly. "What are the characteristics of your wand types, guys?"

'Well I seen it on the television once! There were a bunch of people trying to get out of this place and the were called spies and they moved in slow motion and so they wouldn't be seen they rolled...on..the..ground.. Umm, yeah. 'Okay, maybe it is better to wait.' she gave Evelyn a smile and started to blow on her parchment to dry it some more.

Evelyn frowned, listening to Destiny describe...something..."What's a...tellyvition?" she asked, staring down at her parchment, tracing patterns across it with the end of her quill. 'Its this box thing that shows moving pictures on it! And everytime you hit a button a different picture shows up.' It was really hard to explain. She probably could of found a better explaination in a book, but she didn't really feel like getting up. 'My Dad says looking at it too much will turn me into a muggle, but he looks at it all the time!' Destiny didn't think this was true, but it did stop her from watching it so much.

"That's...weird." Evelyn said, distracted. 'Why don't you just look at a photo album instead? Sounds more fun than a box...' she thought, twirling her quill again, but then stared wide-eyed at Destiny, leaning away from her. "Looking at it for too long turns you into a muggle? Why have it then!?"

'Yeah it is weird. I don't know why we have it really. my brother brought it home one day. I suppose he fancies one of them muggle ladies!' Destiny sat there trying to remember the muggle ladies name when she noticed Evelyn's shock. She couldn't help but laughing. 'I'm realllllly sure it doesn't change you into a muggle. Or my brothers would be muggles already!'

"Hmm, that's a very interesting question, Cela. I do believe that the wand chooses its owner for a reason; not simply because of the character they display when one first purchases a wand. It goes deeper than that; an appointment based on the makeup of one's soul." She finished. "Or at least that's my opinion."

Reaching into her robes, she searched one side and then the next, looking back up a few moments later with a slight frown. "I seem to have misplaced my wand." She admitted. It more than likely was in her office. She just hoped that Raven hadn't gotten ahold of it. "But regardless, mine is 9 1/2 inches, mahogany with a dragon heartstring core; quite bendy."

Abby listens attentively to what Copernicus and Dominic are saying. Dueling would be useful. She needs to make some arrangements for some private lessons. I wonder if Professor Truebridge might help me. He's the best dueler I've ever seen. She finds the idea of attempting the animagus charm interesting too although she doubts that would be included in the NEWT exams. The experience would be quite useful. Aurors need to be able to change their appearences. Abby coughs in an attempt to get the guys attention. "Is this a private program?"

Celandine nodded thoughtfully and sucked on the tip of her own wand. Then she wrote down a few notes, including Madame Kohan's wand description.

"Groundskeeper Masterson couldn't find his either." Celandine answered, "He pretended like Professor Morgan's one was his but they look different and I got a good look at Professor Morgan's when we did a wand class."

O.W.L Study Group and Sabs! :D

Chris looked up and smiled when Madame Kohan had joined LouAnn, Cela and his study group. "Oh Good Evening Madame Kohan how are you?" he asked grinning. He had always liked the librarian. "Yes we are talking about our wands." he nodded. "Mine is 11'' Holly, with a unicorn hair core. It's sturdy but no where near as sturdy as Cela's." he smiled at his Ravenclaw friend. "Ooh Madame Kohan your's is Dragon Heartstring? That's pretty cool. Do you find that it heps you out in certain areas more than others?"

When Chris was going to answer what he thought about Cela's wand question, whether or not they believed their wands were still right for them, Kohan answered too. He nodded and then said, "Cela, I think I agree with Madame Kohan here. Your wand would be atracted your personality, knowing what you will achieve in life and try its best to help you make it." he said thoughtfully. This was deep stuff, wand lore.

He turned back to Cela again. "Well some characteristics of my wand are the Unicorn core having a stength for Healing charms. I am quite good at the basic ones I have learned so far, and im sure I could do more advanced magic with some practice." he nodded.
