And then...she noticed that the girl had actually sat down next to her. But she paid no attention to her surroundings, it seemed...she just moved her attention to the staff table. Huh. Lucy tilted her head, and raised an eyebrow, wondering when she'd react to anything that was within five feet of her. Then... "Heeeellllllloooooo?" Lucy said, waving a hand in front of her face. "Anyyyyyone hoooome?" Seriously. WAS ANYONE HOME IN THERE?! Becca immediately blinked and snapped her head to look at the owner of the rapidly waving hand. The last time someone annoyingly waved a hand in her face it belonged to Shana, or whatever that pipsqueak Slytherin girl's name was. For some reason Becca was expecting it to be her again but, alas, it was a member of her own house. Who... wasn't doing it to be annoying. Even though it still sort of was.
"Oh, yeah, sorry. I was just ... pondering life, y'know?" She gave a small, meaningless shrug and took her time to scrutinize the girl for a moment. "I don't think we've met. I'm Becca. Becca Parker, fifth year."
She eyed the students present that knew her well. ...What? I can be nice and make friends. Don't judge me. Her expression simply said it all.

Running away from that stool, with that hat that could read his mind, he runs past the Ravenclaw table. And huddles in a corner.

Bella walked through the huge double doors of the great hall.she was always mesmerised by the vastness of the hall.she was all smiling as she entered the hall.she atlast had met her close friend Laura who was going to be with her and her friends this year. she walked up to the Ravenclaw table.she saw all the eager and excited first years and she remembered her own first year the previous year.she sat down and waited for her friends. as she sat down and looked through all the house tables she saw the Slytherin house table.the guy she had met on the train,Kevin was a Slytherin.she had noticed that from his badge.she hoped she could be good friends with him.

Glancing over at her three friends... well more like acquaintances at the moment for she hadn't spoken to them for a good year. A few weeks on Mariel's part, since Livvy had met up with her while she was buying her very own broom. Ahh... her broom. An Oakshaft. So beautiful and shiny. Who cared about the Feast... she wanted to play Quidditch. GARGHH.
Staring at nothing really, Livvy grinned once more when Plymouth went back from Willow, back to her. The boy was always quite a character. To be honest, she had missed chatting with him and watching him and all his craziness from two terms ago. Gosh. Seemed so long ago.
Raising an eyebrow slightly, Livvy leaned in also. His eyes seemed to sparkle with mischief and as if he knew the world's biggest secret. When in truth... he just wanted to ask her how her summer was. The truth or the lie? How 'bout both? "Well thank you, Plymmie. You look mighty fine yourself," she said, cheerfully. "My summer was... fine. How was yours?" Livvy asked.
She looked on over past Plymouth, where Cela and Copernicus sat. Smiling, Livvy scooted on over towards them. Yeah. Real smooth of her. Ditch the people she originally sat with. What a 'Livvy' move. "Hi Cela. Hi Copernicus." |

Willow had always been known to be rather tactless, but often on the subject of Samson, Willow had at least been... kinder? Gentler? Not as abrasive or blunt? But there, she'd dragged the topic out, right out of the bag, without any warning or cushion for the fall Issy would undoubtedly endure.
She felt her stomach plummet to her feet and her throat had instantly tightened upon its self. Wilow, was to be expected, was so nonchalant and casual, as though they were discussing the summer holis or a trip to the Bahamas. Much force was used to prevent tears from welling in her eyes, and such an act required many, many blinks of her eyes.
How mean. Such a silly, childish response, but Issy found the words rearing in the back of her mind. Issy had realized that Willow would probably never accept she and Samson, but she had hoped that after the trip to her house a few days back, Willow would be able to see and believe for herself. Unfortunately, Samson had gone and ruined that. Swallowing tightly, Issy's fingers numbly began to tear and crumble at the pumpkin pastie held in her fingers once more.
Much as Issy loved and adored Willow, she hated her blatant disregard of Issy's feelings towards Samson and this was what made the tears prickle, rather than the fact that she had so bluntly shoved an arrow through her heart. Always, Issy had been respectful of Willow and while partially that was because she knew Willow was selective in what information she chose to share and didn't take kindly to being bugged by nosy people, Issy knew she always could have tried. Indeed, there was a certain pain that came from knowing one's best friend not only did not approve of one's choice of male companionship, but tried completely to rule out the possibility of it being real and existent.
"There's no love potion, Willow," was Issy's terse reply, spoken by way of constricted throat. "Never has there been one, I've explained that. Why would Samson be the sort to avoid girls and yet try to force one in love with him?" Though, if she saw it through Willow's eyes, it could be argued that Samson did it solely to hurt her and make her cry. Her chest tightened and Issy freed one of her hands of the pastie to wrap around her mid section.
"Besides, the effects weren't like those of a love potion. I was rational and not moony and loopy like others under love potion. Plus... there were effects of chemistry and... stuff... which a love potion just can't create."
Ag, there was the recollection, trying to pull itself to Issy's attention and play at the back of her mind. Forcibly, she shook her head, hair whipping out just a bit.
"And... maybe... maybe I do still love him but maybe he's all wrong and maybe he's not ready, even though he made like he was and said that stuff. But maybe Samson never will be ready, cos he's not mature enough or wise enough or whatever." Issy's voice was dangerously close to cracking and those tears were on the verge of spilling. Her head tipped back to collect them at her lashes, to keep them from spilling into her lap. "Perhaps you were right, Willow. Not about the potion, but that it was wrong and not possible. In the end, I guess I'm just... silly. And foolish. Certainly foolish."
This was bad. Issy was spilling things out and she knew Willow wasn't always a fan of sentimentality. Yes, Issy had planned all along to spill everything to her best friend, but not at all while others were around to hear, like Sabrina and Plymouth and that new Alexander boy beside her.
Her chin quivered as she fought to keep it all in. What. Was. This?
Tears. There were TEARS streaming down Isabella Cortella's face, and the only thing Willow could do was BLINK. And blink some more. Whatever had caused that? Was this a LATE reaction to whatever it was that the Devil's seed had done to her back int rain? Why one earth was she crying, really? Willow was about to open her mouth and tell Issy that Kovacs did not, under any circumstances, cried, but quickly remembered that Issy was a Cortella and not a Kovac and that, in any case, Kovacs did cry because ... well, Nikola did. Willow was almost one hundred percent SURE of this.
That good for nothing brother of hers. But he was not important right now -or ever, really, Nikola was hardly ever important. What was important was to figure out why on Merlin's beard was Issy crying.
And then it hit her. Oh.
Willow Liadan Kovac had successfully managed to make someone cry. Granted, she'd always known this would happen at some point or another but the girl had not been expecting that it would be Issy.
She had not MEANT to made her cry! Her tone had only been detached so her friend could wake up and realize that she could do better than Samson Carswell. And, well, admittedly, it had also been like that because Willow wanted Issy to quit acting like her.
Well.
No one ever said she was a good person.
Shifting uncomfortably on her seat and slowly the pace of the petting her hand had been doing on Plymouth's head/ear, the seventh year stared at the Issy for some more before turning to look at Plymouth ... Quote:

... "Plymouth," Started the Quidditch captain, putting on her lips the most charming smile she could manage, "I think Issy needs a hug." Willow said to the boy, raising one of her dark eyebrows at him. Surely he wouldn't mind hugging Issy? He seemed like the hugs-lover type. Besides, Eight year olds LOVED to hug people (Noah used to do it a lot, until Willow, being the GOOD sister she was, lied and told him she had dragon pox and that he would get it, too, if he kept hugging her) and surely Plymouth was no different.
"I'll give you more chocolate?" She would OWL the people from Honeyduke and ask them to send her more, of course.
Issy was indeed in need of a hug.
Trust Willow Kovac to get someone else to hug her friend for something she'd said.

It's not strange, especially at a time like this. Nope! Very normal. Ahem. "Hello, Becca Parker!! Nice to meet!" she said, grabbing her hand and shaking it. Yep...decision made: Make friends, but keep them few in number. "Fifth year, huh? ME, TOO!! I'm Lucy Dawn." she said, smiling her widest smile at her. Seems like that smile would be her trade-mark smile. Although, she had to admit...she wondered whether or not people seemed to be a bit frightened by it. Oh, well!! "Excited for the new term?" she asked excitedly. Becca wasn't sure about this girl. She was... extremely happy. OVERLY excited and joyous, even. But she was as calm as a tortoise compared to Shana! "Lucy - cool. Why... don't I recognize you?" Was Becca really that unobservant these past terms to not notice this girl before? Weird. "Excited is one way of putting it, sure. You?"
In reality, Becca had mixed feelings. It was a new term full of opportunities! There were new students, hopefully some new professors, new boys... New classes she was taking. Yuck. Good thing Potions was still there for her as her excellent subject. Or... was it?
And then. Copernicus is my boyfriend now. Becca STOOD UP. She looked straight at Cela, then Cope, then Plymouth. She stared, looking for... something on his face. Anything. Hurt that she could go comfort, him looking to her and realizing they were truly meant to be...!
Or maybe he would just think she was happy to see him and blow her a kiss or wave like he did to everyone else.

Phoebus sat, taking small sips of his water as he waited for anyone really that he knew to show up. He saw Celandine, but she looked quite busy with a guy so he decided not to say anything. So he resigned himself to sitting down at the table and being quiet. He wondered where Adrienne was, seeing as how she was one of the only other people he knew in his own house. Well, that and he still hadn't seen too much of her or Riley and it was starting to make him wonder.

"OH and then I can show you the Whomping Willow and and you should toooootally meet Bartholomew Henry!"
Oh hmm. Celandine positively beamed at Copernicus. "This is Tiberius!" Totally awesome name, right? Teehee. Celandine nodded enthusiastically, with abraxans on the brain.
Then she turned to Tiberius and announced, in a loud enough voice to be heard by the entire table, "Copernicus is my boyfriend now."
You know, instead of his brother? Yeah. "The nurse?! NO" Tibi got really panicked all of the sudden. "I... I can't go there... cause she'll ask how it happened and.. and... I CAN'T TELL HER." Tibi's eyes were suddenly really wide as he remembered how Willie had threatened him.
He didn't hear Cela introduce him to Copernicus; all he could hear was Willie's voice in his ear, threatening to bite it off.

"Hi Cela. Hi Copernicus." Plymouth considered his answer as he leaned into Willow. He went so far as to put his arm around her waist, not even thinking really, just a motion. "I would describe my summer as... eventful. Educational. Warm. Hehe. Better than fine, I assure you that. Only fine for YOU?" Quote:

Willow said to the boy, raising one of her dark eyebrows at him.
Trust Willow Kovac to get someone else to hug her friend for something she'd said.
...? Oh. He put the "airkiss" in his pocket then scratched his chin. "Sure... sure. I'd love to. But... see... I have this rule." And, at that, Plymouth removed his arm from around Willow. He was BREAKING that rule. Idiot. "I try REAL hard not to push my excited-noncontrolable affections on girls."
A quick look down the table to Cela...
"It gets me in trouble." Sigh. "So... only if Issy wants?" And Merlin, he DID hope Issy did want. She... was looking so pitiful... Plymouth would eat nails and wrestle gators to make a girl stop crying. Quote:

From the corner of his eye he caught movement. Luckily, Plymouth was busy and did not hear what Becca thought he might. Thankfully. He gave her a wink to acknowledge that he DID see her, Miss Becca Parker, but he had a crying girl crisis to avert at the moment. |

| The REAL Sorting Hat: "Ravenclaw!" This monkey is bananas. With a shuddering yawn that felt like his face was falling off, William entered the great hall, his blue eyes already focused on one thing; pumpkin juice and lots of it. It was like he had no saliva in his mouth, though that could be from eating the massive amount of sour treats on the train ride over. Oh those muggles sure knew how to do a good sour candy he thought, nearly skipping over to the Ravenclaw table and plopping down on the seat, Goldie on his shoulder. Yup, his tarantula wanted attention too, and she was going to get it all right. Pulling the jug of juice towards him he sighed as he poured the juice into his goblet before taking a might swig.
Taking a cricket from his pocket, he placed it onto his shoulder and looked around, glee written all over his face at the unsuspecting first years around him. Oh, this term would be fun he thought.

Ah. Good to be back. Mariel's eyes left Livvy as the somewhat buoyant Plymouth slid near them and started blowing kisses at... well, nearly everyone at the table, but Mariel was fairly certain they were directed towards the females only. She stared at him curiously for a moment, then shot her hand out as an imaginary kiss came her way and plucked it out of the air. Not completely certain what else to do with it, she simply shrugged and plunged her hand in her robe pocket - to save it for later? - before turning back to Livvy. Quote:

Or was it her that did the jabbering away? She wasn't quite sure about that. There was too much jabbering going on that you couldn't really tell who was actually doing the jabbering. So many 'jabbering's!
Livvy glanced over to see Jenn join them and she smiled up at the girl. She hadn't seen the younger girl for a looonng time. In fact, Livvy almost forgot she existed. Which was horrible, because of course everyone would like to know that their existence was somewhat acknowledged, rather than forgotten. So maybe she had both poor judgment and bad eyesight. Who knew? There were too many bad traits to keep track of.
Turning back to Mariel, Livvy answered, "It's not bad. I didn't really get any time to try it out quite yet though." She shrugged slightly as she let her fingers drum against the wooden table, waiting patiently for perhaps someone else she knew to come up. "Not a bad summer," she said, smiling as she looked over at Jenn and Kel. Livvy hadn't even known that the two knew each other. Hmm. SLIIIPP! Livvy glanced up as she noticed a boy practically slide down the table. Then Livvy realized that she actually knew who this boy was. She chuckled at Plymouth and his humor and how popular the boy was. What a ladies' man. He loved it. Everyone loved it. Even she, herself, loved it. "Hello to you too, Plymouth," she said, laughing as she waved at him, watching him as he continued on from lady to lady, smothering them with his good looks and attention. ( ) Quote:

"Hi Cela. Hi Copernicus." The 4th year glanced down at Livvy's drumming fingers then looked back up at her warily. She was right in her initial assessment. The girl seemed odd today... almost uncomfortable. Nodding slowly as she talked of her broom, she said, "Hmm, that's too bad. It seems like a pretty amazing broom... Well, I'm sure you'll get plenty of time to practice on the pitch..."
And then Livvy seemed somewhat distracted. Mariel watched her curiously as she tugged on a lock of her dark brown hair then began to twirl it around her fingers. The older girl seemed a little more interested in someone else's conversation than in her own, which was soon confirmed when she got up and left to talk to someone else. A raised eyebrow graced the nearly 15 year old's face as she watched Livvy leave and while she would have normally thought it a bit rude to go without at least saying goodbye, Mariel didn't give the matter another moment's thought as she resumed what she had been doing previously - watching the Staff Table for anything unusual.

Especially because a certain someone was in the vicinity, but he reminded himself that they were not together anymore. As she said, have a nice life, but that didn't mean his life had to exclude some of his acquaintances in Ravenclaw House.
That was when he heard her - and his name. Cel-an-dine Toussaint was challenging herself to earn more OWLs than him and he knew that if ANYONE could, it was her.
But that wasn't really his point for risking his life to come over to this blue table. Nor was it to see Copernicus slide his arm around Cel-an-dine's waist. His point was . . . what was it again? Blinking as he heard the mystery girl - his mystery girl - talking to others down the table, his brain went all fuzzy as he tried to think about what he wanted to talk about.
Even as he somehow found himself in front of Cope and Cela ... and then a swallow, followed by a weak, "Hello. Sorry to interrupt." Biting his lower lip, he wondered if he should just leave now. Some confident Head Boy he was.
