And once again, you enter the dank, dark cave that is the Hogwarts potions classroom... but something has changed. Unlike the environment of the previous class, which was characterized by a clash of noxious odors, this time the classroom is filled with...

THE BEST. SMELLS. EVER.

Though the room is still cast in the typical gloom from the flickering candle wall sconces, unlike during the last class this time the air smells sweet, with notes of chocolate, vanilla, fresh coffee, light florals and fresh breezes, newly cut grass... A thousand lovely scents all harmoniously combining to create a symphony of sweet smells. Small flames are burning under a series of cauldrons simmering at the back of the room, and there are the typical rows of workstations with two stools at each station.

A thousand and three jars, canisters, and containers of potions ingredients line the shelves along the walls, gleaming dully in the low light. Each is labelled in the Professor's shaky old man's script, and at the back of the room are shelves groaning under the weight of huge potions encyclopedias and texts.

At the front of the classroom, a large charmed chalkboard stands. On it are written these simple instructions:

POTIONS CLASS: LOVE POTIONS

Please be seated. The professor will be here momentarily. Be certain that you have all your potions equipment with you; failure to do so may cost your House points. If you are an older student who is familiar with Potions you may set up your workstation. I expect my younger students are now able to set up their workstations as well; if you need help, please ask an older student.

You may talk quietly amongst yourselves, but please keep the conversation to a reasonable level out of respect for your classmates. Thank you.

Class Synopsis:

The class began with a discussion on Love Potions- the theory behind them and their classification.

Then, the students discussed probable ingredients in love potions based on their knowledge of potion ingredients; this lead to the lab assignment, in which the students were to partner with a person of the opposite gender and brew a basic Class XX love potion.

The students received instruction on how to remove infused oils from their pre-treated lovage seeds, and were instructed to work in pairs to complete this task.

Next, the students were instructed to add a single drop of swan blood to the potion, bottled a draught, and sample each other's work. Ah... Love!

"When this boils, add lovage pollen and stir it until it's all dissolved - if you want, you can carry on but follow the instructions precisely!" Rachel said, having taken it upon herself to scrape out the membrane of the bloodroot. He was so insecure of himself - the kid had to learn to be a bit more bossy...

Thomas didn't really listen carefully to what Rachel said he just read briefly the instructions of the potion. He waited for the potion to boil. When the potion boiled he began adding lovage pollen to the potion and as the instructions said, he needs to stir the potion until it turns golden. "Wow," Thomas thought, "This potion is easier then the potion they've done in the beginning of the year." Thomas took the long wooden spoon that was used to stir the potion, and began stirring the potion until it will turn golden.

Thomas only did a few spins with the spoon and the coulor of the potion already began turning into a yellow like coulor. He did again few more spins with the spoon and the potion turned into a golden like of coulor. "Rachel what should we do next?"

........What was all of this nonsense? Evan looked around. People were partnered, and talking over a cauldron. He then glanced at the board... no way... they were brewing a potion, and he had zoned out. He cursed himself. He really wanted to participate in this class!

He looked around for a partner, and of course there was no one, because all of them had paid close attention, and were almost done.

Kay looked over to Evan. "I will work with you if you'd like." Kay said still looking for someone to work with. Kay had started to warm her water so that she didn't fall behind in class.

Marilyn watched Carter sit with impassive eyes. She just hoped the Kazi didn't make them take this potion when it was finished. Gods forbid she behave in the way Rafe had just last week...

She shook her head to steady her thoughts and set about preparing the ingredients. She crushed the fluxweed, taking her time. Once that was taken care of, she set it aside knowing that they had some time before they needed to de-membrane the bloodroot. Digging around in her bag, Marilyn removed her purified water bottle, measuring out the four ounces. She'd wanted to have the fluxweed ready before putting water in the cauldron...since it needed to be added almost immediately.

"Thanks for working with me, by the way..." Marilyn turned her back to him and faced the cauldron, adding the water. She was glad he was unable to see her pleased smile.

As Kay waited for Evan to answer her, she went onto the next step. Kay put her Fluxweed into the morter and started to crush it. She would keep going until the last step. She hoped the professor would be alright with it. She looked back at her notes and read. Add to water and let come to a brisk boil. She finished crushing the fluxweed and put it into the water. Now to wait.

Add apple cider and lionfish heart; potion should take on an iridescent sheen and a light pink to purple cast
Add griffin dandruff and simmer until your potion takes on a deep pink to red sheen.

DO NOT GO FORWARD, wait for further instructions.

Since Marilyn was working on the fluxweed he decided to go ahead and measure the lovage pollen.

Lucy noticed that he sounded a bit bitter when he talked about Brody--as if she deserved more respect than just 'Torin's ex-girlfriend'. Well, she didn't really know the girl, except for that little fact, so it wasn't really her fault for saying the only thing she knew about Brody Summers, which also happened to be a touchy subject.

"Oh, yes, I'm sure she's a really great friend and person in general. I'm sorry, I...that's the only thing I know about her..." Lucy said, her sentence falling into nothingness because she was at a loss for words, yet again.

She watched as he added the bloodroots and the apple cider. As he worked on the lionfish heart, Lucy reached for the griffin dandruff.

"Okay, whenever you're ready," She said to Fyo, waiting for him to mince the heart so it could go in the potion. It looked pretty gross...ick.

"And once we've done that, it should take on an iridescent sheen and a light pink to purple cast," Lucy said as she read the board.

"And then we can add the dandruff and simmer the potion."

While talking to Fyo, Lucy noticed someone gazing at her--it was that girl from the tent,the one who was friends with Rafe. And she was looking at Lucy with pure loathing. Now, Lucy had never really met her, but she could just feel hatred coming from her--like she was giving off bad vibes or something. And to make matters worse, she was a Slytherin. Slytherin girls were no good--everyone knew that.
So, Lucy looked right back at her, giving her the same hard, loathing look. She really didn't like this girl, and was angry at Rafe for allowing her to be friends with him.

Evan slowly turned to the voice that had called him. The girl looked so familiar... ah, the Hufflepuff who had been etremely rude to him at the Divination. His eyes narrowed. Huffies were up to no good these days. So why did she want to partner up with him? Ah right, because she couldn't find any other boy. His lips curled into an evil smile. So she was so desperate that she wanted a Slytherin, particularly him? Ah, she'd see how evil he could get.

Just as he was about to answer Kay, another girl walked up. Oh, he was like a hero or something. She was a Slytherin, and as long as Evan could remember, she had been alright. Well, with the exception of Devilmont, no Slytherin was bad. No need to be genious and think it over, he was surely going to choose the Slytherin. At least, he knew he could trust her.

"Sure, er, buddy." he adressed the Slytherin with his sweetest tone and a wide polite smile. What was her name again?

Isabella had began to read the instructions and slowly began to work.as she began to chop and mince her ingredients she looked here and there to see if she find a male partner!she rolled her eyes
this is so embarassing.if i dont get a partner i will have to ask professor to allow me to do my potion on my own she thought and concentrated on minicng for the time being

Isabella looked around and saw all the students had already began the work and were well ahead of her.she became nervous.she timidly raised her hand and spoke
um...professor?
well i dont have a partner till now...so can i just-just start with my potion making she asked hesitantly

"Oh, ok." Kay said softly. She really like Evan and whated to work with him. "Marie's a good partern." Kay turned back to her work. She would just have to do it alone. Looking into her cauldron she saw that it was boiling. She took out the right amount of lovage pollen and put it in the cauldron. Kay stired the potions until she was sure it had all dissolved. Kay watched the potion until it turned into the golden colour. Looking at her notes she saw that she had to stir slowly in both clock wise and counterclock wise until the potion was boiling again. Simmer 5 minutes. Kay could do this.

Marie was happy when Evan picked her over Kay. She really wanted to do good in this class and being partnered with someone from her own house would make things go a whole lot easier.
"Great, I'm Marie by the way. Are you ready to get this little experiment started?" Marie was a little nervous about this, she wasn't sure about having to try this out on each other. 'Oh well, at least he is cute' she thought as she started to get out the things they needed to start the potion.

Crush fluxweed with mortar and pestle, add to water. Allow to come to a brisk boil.
Add lovage pollen, stir until dissolved.
Potion should take on a light golden colour.
Stir slowly, alternating clockwise and counterclockwise stirs
bring potion back up to a boil and allow to simmer 5 minutes
Add inner membrane ONLY of bloodroots; do NOT include the tough outer membrane of the root!!!
Add apple cider and lionfish heart; potion should take on an iridescent sheen and a light pink to purple cast
Add griffin dandruff and simmer until your potion takes on a deep pink to red sheen.

DO NOT GO FORWARD, wait for further instructions.

Carter laughed. "Yup. We're pretty much done with this part." he said looking down at the potion as it was slowly changing colors. He then looked around. They were ahead of everyone. "Looks like we make a great team." he said with a smile/

Marilyn smirked, obviously not surprised by how well they worked together. "Well, were both determined to stick to the task at hand." She laughed. It felt good to be ahead. They didn't have worry about being behind or catching up with anyone, now. "I seriously hope he doesn't make us try this thing out. That would be...chaotic."

"You think?" Carter asked. "I think it would be kind of fun. Obviously if we're in a class it won't get too out of control. And I'm sure it'll lead to some really, really good laughs.

Emma was looking with curiousity into her cauldron.The potion looks weird - she thought and tried to check that. She looked around and saw that Carter and Marilyn are making the right potion.So she came near them and asked for a little help.
"Hi guys"-said she very excited."Can you help me a little,please?I'm not very into Potions actually!"....
