And once again, you enter the dank, dark cave that is the Hogwarts potions classroom... but something has changed. Unlike the environment of the previous class, which was characterized by a clash of noxious odors, this time the classroom is filled with...
THE BEST. SMELLS. EVER.
Though the room is still cast in the typical gloom from the flickering candle wall sconces, unlike during the last class this time the air smells sweet, with notes of chocolate, vanilla, fresh coffee, light florals and fresh breezes, newly cut grass... A thousand lovely scents all harmoniously combining to create a symphony of sweet smells. Small flames are burning under a series of cauldrons simmering at the back of the room, and there are the typical rows of workstations with two stools at each station.
A thousand and three jars, canisters, and containers of potions ingredients line the shelves along the walls, gleaming dully in the low light. Each is labelled in the Professor's shaky old man's script, and at the back of the room are shelves groaning under the weight of huge potions encyclopedias and texts.
At the front of the classroom, a large charmed chalkboard stands. On it are written these simple instructions:
Quote:
POTIONS CLASS: LOVE POTIONS
Please be seated. The professor will be here momentarily. Be certain that you have all your potions equipment with you; failure to do so may cost your House points. If you are an older student who is familiar with Potions you may set up your workstation. I expect my younger students are now able to set up their workstations as well; if you need help, please ask an older student.
You may talk quietly amongst yourselves, but please keep the conversation to a reasonable level out of respect for your classmates. Thank you.
--Professor Kazimeriz
Class Synopsis:
The class began with a discussion on Love Potions- the theory behind them and their classification.
Then, the students discussed probable ingredients in love potions based on their knowledge of potion ingredients; this lead to the lab assignment, in which the students were to partner with a person of the opposite gender and brew a basic Class XX love potion.
The students received instruction on how to remove infused oils from their pre-treated lovage seeds, and were instructed to work in pairs to complete this task.
Next, the students were instructed to add a single drop of swan blood to the potion, bottled a draught, and sample each other's work. Ah... Love!
In moments like these (which were very frequent, mind you) Willow felt exceedingly grateful that her last year at Hogwarts was slowly but surely coming to an end.
Working on a potion with a partner. A Love Potion, at that, and worst of all - with a boy.
Lovely.
And if Celandine's guess was correct, they'd have to try it on each other.
Insert her fuming here.
"Woodson Whitcomb," Called the seventh year after properly sulking about her future disgrace for at least five minutes. "You will be my partner." Because he did not have one, and, just like her, did not seem to be particularly happy about this class either.
Lightly, Willow raised one of her small and pale hands and crooked an index finger at him, motioning to come to her.
Well, if she was going to be forced to be obsessed with some boy at least it would not be with one that happened to look like a mountain troll.
as Bella was continuing with her work she just looked around to see how was the rest of the class doing.they all seemed to be quite ahead of her.she noticed a tall guy and waved to him.she knew him he was the ravenclaw prefect Mr.Prefect? Isabella called you can join me if you want she said surprised by her own confident way of talking to the prefect whom she hardly ever talked before from the time she entered hogwarts last year
Oh My! Jack thought. She's just a baby. Maybe that's to my advantage. I certainly can't get gaga over a child. Good thinking, mate.
Jack nodded and said, 'Okay. Sounds good to me. We'd best get started. Why don't you come over here because I have everything set up?' and thought to himself...well, if you didn't have your head out on the Quidditch Pitch, you wouldn't be so far behind.

Woodson didn't even have to look up to know who said those words. It could only be Willow Kovac. And people thought the Whitcomb twins were full of themselves? Hah. Woodson scoffed under his breath as he moved carefully towards the girl.
"You know, it's common courtesy to ASK, not to TELL." He was a Whitcomb. He did NOT take orders.
"Now, if you'd like to ask me to be your partner for the class, I will kindly oblige," he bowed his head slightly. He WAS in need of a partner after all. "And don't go forgetting the 'please.'"
Snicker.

Isabella waited for long but then she gave up and began to work over the potion.setting the cauldron on the burner she warmed the water.as the water took time to warm she crushed the fluxweed and then added to the water to boil. as the water boiled Bella measured 2 drams of loveage pollen and then added it to the boiling water and flux weed solution and stirred it till it dissolved.she looked at her watch and it was already half an hour from the time she began her work on the potion.checking the instructions again she observed her potion which by now was not exactly light golden in color as expected but was a bit like yellow.slightly disappointed she stirred the potion alternating with clock and counter clock wise stirs.she had no idea for how many such stirrs she was to make so she did about seven times.she waited to see if there would be any color change.and well there was there was lightening of the yellow.not thorougly as expected but it was better then having yellow potion in the cauldron.then she bent down to turn the burner to higher level to let the potion in the cauldron boil and simmer...

Snicker.
Willow stared blankly at him.
She did not have time for this rubbish.
Abruptly standing up, Willow stomped her way to where the boy was still on his feet, and in all her five foot and four inches glory, took hold of Whitcomb's arm to drag him over the stool next to hers.
And then, Willow stood right in front of him, and with a charming smile on her rosy lips, she placed her hands on his shoulders, stretched on her tiptoes and forced him to put his bum on the chair.
She really did not have time for this rubbish.
Feeling rather pleased with her job, Willow shoved a cauldron in his direction and started to dictate orders. Because she was older, wiser and, well, ordering people (boys, especially) around was her thing.
"Start to warm up the water, Woodson Whitcomb." Yes, she was pretending that nothing out of ordinary had happened. "I'll just crush fluxweed." And so, she started with her job efficiently and thinking that love potions were ridiculous and pathetic. "Oh, you really don't mind warming up the water, correct?" The Ravenclaw looked up sideways at him with an innocent expression and a dark eyebrow quirking up at him. "Didn't think so."
Tori had no partner but she did her potion nevertheless. As the instructions outlined she purified 4 oucnes of water while crushing fluxweed and with mortar and pestle. She worked on until she could get a partner to work with.

Kay still not having a partern went on with her potion. She took out the bloodroots. Kay counted them out, and went to work scraping the membrane out. When she was sure she hadn't gotten any of the outside parts Kay put it into her potion. Kay watched the potion closely and got her 8oz of apple cider ready to put in. Kay looked up at the class and saw no one to work with. Kay looked at her notes and went on with her potion.

Emily looked into her potion and it was a beautiful deep pink, it was finally at the end of the proffessors instructions so Emily just sat back and waited. There is no reason to have my potion suffer, if a boy doesn't have the guts to work with me. Yes, the lack of partner was starting to annoy the young 'claw, but seriously, she wasn't going to fail an assignment by just waiting. Glancing at her notebook, Mina measured out the needed lovage pollen and pulled the lovage seeds from her supplies.

Adding the needed lovage, she looked into her cauldron and checked the color. It was slowly turning the light golden colour, which did make her smile. Who needs a boy to do something, I'm quite capable of doing myself. Looking carefully at the contents of the cauldron, she slowly stirred the potion, alternating the directions as directed.
Seeing that it was beginning to boil, she turned her attention preparing her bloodroots. She had five minutes, so she intently worked on separating the outer and inner membrane of the bloodroot. Carefully, she split the roots and scraped out just what she needed. Taking a quick peek at the time, she realized it was about time to added the bloodroots. But did have time to get her next two ingredients ready. Carefully, she poured out the needed apple cider and minced the lionfish heart, setting it aside for the moment.
The five minutes needed had finally passed and she added the bloodroots after carefully assuring it was just the inner membrane. The potion appeared to be correct to her, so she proceded as per the direction. Adding the apple cider and then her minced lionfish heart, she again peered into the cauldron to check the colour. The iridescent sheen was progressing toward the light pink now. It was only a matter of seconds before it took on the purple cast.
She only needed to add the griffin dandruff and wait for the colour change. She was doing quite well by herself, but she did still feel troubled over what she would do at the end without a partner. She could always worry about that later, right?
Oh yes, it was that perfect purple cast now. She added the level dram of the griffin dandruff and watched the purple go to deep pink. Now, it was just a waiting game for it to simmer and change to the needed red. That wasn't hard at all.
um...i will do the apple cider thing.i have no idea as to how i will take the inner membrane out from the root she said taking a look at the roots.if Jack wouldnt have been there she would have had to do it on her own and she might have had to ask help from someone.
Jack smiled at the girl. 'Okay, I'll take care of the knife work and you can handle the rest.'
Jack grabbed the three bloodroots and got to work. With his silver and turquoise handled knife, he split them right down the middle and very carefully scraped the inner membrane out. They were much softer than hot peppers, so it was pretty easy. He just had to take it slow and easy.
After that was done, he gave Isabella a big smile and said, 'Okay, these are ready for you to add. I'll get right to work on the heart.'

um...yeah bella said suddenly becoming nervous to have someone watch her do the cutting and extracting thing. um...well we need apple cider.do we have a cider made and kept in supplies cupboard aleady? she asked but then quickly got up from her place towards the cupboard and checked for the cider.she found two types of it one was freshly made sweet cider and then next was hard cider.she opened the cork of the hard one and sniffed it had fermented smell.she corked it back and brought the sweet one. of course since this is the love potion we will need a sweet one not the one which has such strong smell she thought.she then returned back. when you said I'll get right to work on the heart, did you mean you would do it? 'Sure. I already have my knife out.' Jack replied. He then grabbed the heart and started cutting...first in strips, then across. His mom would be proud. She thought it was important for everybody to know their way around a kitchen and she made him learn the Muggle way even though she was a witch.
Isabella looked as Jack worked his way to through the heart. i should learn this so that next time i dont have anybody to help it would be useful for me she thought as she watched the heart being cut.as it was done Bella refered to the notes again now we will have to add the roots and then the heart and wait for it to be light pink or purple cast and then add griffin dandruff she said reading through the notes.she turned on the burner again and stirred the light yellow potion of theirs
she stirred the potion a bit and then asked um could you pas me the roots a bit? she asked as she made the apple cider ready on the other hand
BLECH. She should just work alone anyway. Was a partner really necessary for this? What could go wrong? Honestly. All you have to do is follow the instructions. It was just that simple. No one blew themself up unless they were TRYING to be that stupid. Plus. They were trying it on each other. That wasn't too smart, now was it? Ehhh? No. It wasn't.
Groaning inwardly, Livvy set her stuff back down on her desk and re-set her equipment. And then some dude said that he would be her partner. She glanced around to face him. Oh yippee. She actually got a partner. Part of her wanted to find one so she could hurry up and earn some points for Ravenclaw. But the other part of her wanted to just ditch the class. This was BAD influence. Teaching students how to make love potions.
"Um. Yeah. Sure," Livvy said, nodding her head as she pushed her equipment to the edge of the table so the boy could place his equipment on there too. "I'm Livvy." Only polite.
Dragging his feet to the table towards the girl, Samson dropped his cauldron and all other equipment on his half of the table, and looked at the girl half with remorse and half with politeness. "It seems you don't like this any more than I do, mainly because it's awkward to work with a partner of the opposite sex, and on a love potion no less. But we're going to be strictly professional about this, 'kay?" Snort. What a laugh. And yet he kept his face straight. Again, the sooner they got this over with the better.
"I'm..." He didn't like the introduction part. He really thought it was not necessary. And that was one thing he hated about pairing up. More often than not he would end up with a partner he didn't know beforehand. Meh. "...Samson." He didn't lift his own eyes to meet the girl's.
"Sooo, what do we do now?"
And curses, Willow Kovac, for not speaking up earlier. Coulda made her his partner. Heh. Oh well.
Lucy noticed that he sounded a bit bitter when he talked about Brody--as if she deserved more respect than just 'Torin's ex-girlfriend'. Well, she didn't really know the girl, except for that little fact, so it wasn't really her fault for saying the only thing she knew about Brody Summers, which also happened to be a touchy subject.
"Oh, yes, I'm sure she's a really great friend and person in general. I'm sorry, I...that's the only thing I know about her..." Lucy said, her sentence falling into nothingness because she was at a loss for words, yet again.
She watched as he added the bloodroots and the apple cider. As he worked on the lionfish heart, Lucy reached for the griffin dandruff.
"Okay, whenever you're ready," She said to Fyo, waiting for him to mince the heart so it could go in the potion. It looked pretty gross...ick.
"And once we've done that, it should take on an iridescent sheen and a light pink to purple cast," Lucy said as she read the board.
"And then we can add the dandruff and simmer the potion."
"I understand," Fyo said quickly. He knew Lucy was a friend of Torin's, but not of Brody's, and could see why she would think of the latter as the former's... well, ex-girlfriend.
Not that he LIKED that.
Once the Lionfish heart had been minced, Fyo added it to the potion. Its contents swirled into a gloss of sorts, and the colour changed to a pale pinkish-purple. "I think that's the correct colour," he said, with a sigh of relief. "You can add the dandruff, now."

LouAnn glanced back and forth between Cope and the mixture they'd created. She was waiting on it to turn that light golden color the directions mentioned. "Archaeology, that sounds like an interesting job," she commented, her eyes still on the mixture. If it didn't turn light gold soon, did that mean they'd done something wrong? Cope was her partner, though...of course it would turn a light golden color!
...and a few seconds later, it did! Or so she thought it did. She stepped back a bit and pointed towards the cauldron. "Cope, I think we did it," she said, hoping he'd notice the color change, as well. He had the stirring rod, she thought, so he'd have to be the one to get the stirring going. After that, they'd have to wait a whole five minutes before moving on again. "Sooo, you're probably the expert here. What's next?" she asked, blushing a little once again.

Heh. Oh well.
Dead. Dead. Dead. DEEEAADD. A fluttery feeling was felt in the bottom of her stomach and Livvy couldn't help but feel nervous about this. Could she detect something of unhappiness on the boy's face as he walked over? Oh yes she could. She was glad that the feeling was mutual. Really? Who would want to do this activity?
And then he spoke up. Blink. Blink.
What he said was said in a completely serious tone, but it sounded rather funny coming out of his mouth. Pfft. It would sound funny coming from ANYBODY'S mouth.
Livvy's lips curved up into a slightly bitter smile, but she'd be kind. Plus he looked older. And BIGGER. She wasn't going to mess with him. Unless. Of course. He messed with her. Never insult someone that used to be a Beater. "Strictly professional. But of course. Let's just... do this and get it over with," she said, sighing inwardly and looking up to the ceiling in misery. Why? WHY? Why did she have to come to this lesson?
Mhm. Samson. Didn't seem like he was too fond of introductions. Livvy glanced around the room, hoping to maybe find a partner that she actually KNEW. No offense to Samson, though honestly, Livvy believed that he'd be quite joyous if she found a different partner. ERGH. Jack. Why hadn't she seen him sooner?! But it was too late. The Ravenclaw prefect was already working with someone else. Well at least Livvy knew that Samson wasn't secretly in love her. That'd be safe. Though a part of her wished that Garret
She scowled and glanced back over at Samson. Directions? Oh right. Livvy pulled out the piece of paper where she had jotted down the directions.

DO NOT GO FORWARD, wait for further instructions.
"You can warm up the water and I'll crush the fluxweed," she ordered as she took it out and began to crush it gently with the blade of her cutting knife that she used for potions. Livvy didn't even bother to ask whether or not he wanted to. Surely there wasn't ANYTHING about this assignment that he would want to do.
Kay went on with her potion. She added her apple cider and lionfish heart to her cauldron and watched it. Kay wanted to be sure that it turned the right color of light pink or purple cast. Kay looked up still hoping that she would get someone to work with.
'Why don't you just tell me when and I'll scrape them into your cauldron for you?' Jack offered, as he was making sure that he'd minced the heart correctly.
Marie was happy when Evan picked her over Kay. She really wanted to do good in this class and being partnered with someone from her own house would make things go a whole lot easier. "Great, I'm Marie by the way. Are you ready to get this little experiment started?" Marie was a little nervous about this, she wasn't sure about having to try this out on each other. 'Oh well, at least he is cute' she thought as she started to get out the things they needed to start the potion.
Hah. Hahaha. The Huffie looked reeeaaally disappointed. Wait, was she doing it alone? But it was love potion for Merlin's sake! Evan imagined the scene: Narcissus-y. Tehee. He'd love to see that. He'd be the one to give her a mirror.
Marie? Alright. He opened his mouth to introduce himself, but then frowned. She knew his name. How though? He didn't remember her... he didn't play quidditch... must be from a class or something. Or maybe he was so handsome that all the Slytherin house knew his name. Oooh."Evan Cartwright." he said nevertheless, just in case. "Oh yeah." he said as he smiled. He went over to light a fire and placed the cauldron filled with water onto it. He wondered if he'd fall in love with her even for an hour. Glancing at the sihfty looking professor, he guessed he would. He wondered how Fallon would react to that. Of course she wouldn't know. Or maybe she would, Evan'd revenge Nate issue. Her intention was to be friends, and so was Evan's. Evan fought back a smirk and waited for the water to be inches away from boiling. Hopefully, Marie'd get his message and crush the fluxweed.

Nodding as she already read the instructions and knew the first few steps, she added the fluxweed when little bubbles started to rise from the bottom of the water, indicating that it was almost ready to boil. "Do you want to do the stirring or should I and you can start on the Bloodroot to get it ready for the next step?" she asked, watching the water start to boil. Since the lovage pollen was practically right there by him, he could add it.
''And i'm sure he will tell us guys to try it'' Josh went on the topic as if he was quite obsessed and stuck with it that he could go nowhere forward. ''I can feel it. I always feel weird things in this class and they all turn out to be right.'' now it was time to pour out all his suspicions though it looked like an inappropriate one because they were in the middle of a potions class and were busy with brewing a love potion which required utmost attention. He watched her as she added the crushed fluxweed into the cauldron. The greenish substance scattered around once it was in the water and vanished among the bubbles as the water started to boil. Blinking into their work Josh responded ''Yea, i think i can handle the bloodroot job. Got a silver knife here'' he indicated the tool on the table ''Because us guys are always the experiment; of course, i know, i would not want any girl to suffer if the potions turn outs to be wrongly brewed, either. But the idea of love potions around... they are the most dangerous thing... anyway'' then grabbed the lovage pollen and lovage seeds next to it. He knew it was the turn for the lovage pollen but...he second checked the instructions ''There is written nothing about the lovage seeds. Do you think we should add them together with the pollen?''
