As you enter the dank, dark cave of a potions classroom, the first thing you might notice is the smell. A thousand different scents, good and bad, mingle together in the moist, rich air of the musty dungeon room. The room is gloomy: the lighting is dim, mostly from wall sconces where candles flicker but also from small flames under a series of cauldrons which are simmering at the back of the room. There are rows of workstations with two stools at each station.
A thousand and three jars, canisters, and containers of potions ingredients line the shelves along the walls, gleaming dully in the low light. Each is labelled in the Professor's shaky old man's script, and at the back of the room are shelves groaning under the weight of huge potions encyclopedias and texts.
At the front of the classroom, a large charmed chalkboard stands. On it are written these simple instructions: Quote: POTIONS 101
Please be seated. The professor will be here momentarily. Be certain that you have all your potions equipment with you; failure to do so may cost your House points. If you are an older student who is familiar with Potions you may set up your workstation. First years, please ask an older student for assistance.
You may talk quietly amongst yourselves, but please keep the conversation to a reasonable level out of respect for your classmates. Thank you. --Professor Kazimeriz Class Synopsis:
The professor has entered the room. A brief discussion about the Cardinal Rule of Potions (Know thy Ingredients) has taken place. A Worksheet has been distributed; students have been instructed to write equal and opposite ingredient pairs on this worksheet to familiarize themselves with complementary ingredients to understand the concept of negators, or neutralizing ingredients.
A brief discussion about Golpalott's FIRST law was introduced: for every ingredient, there is at least one equal and opposite ingredient that can be used as an antidote to the first ingredient.
This led to a discussion on Golpalott's Third Rule: the antidote for a blended poison will be equal to more than the sum of the antidotes for each of the separate components.
The class was informed that they have all been poisoned by means of a potion that absorbs through skin contact. Their goal? To identify their symptoms and brew the antidote to their poison by the end of class. Instructions can be found here.

As Kay entered the Potions classroom the smell hit her nose. The good and the bad. Kay looked around the room, and than walked to a work station. She looked at the chalkboard and read the instructions of what they needed to do. After reading she pulled her things out and sat them on her table. Kay put her cauldron on the front part of the table and then lead the rest of her equipment out with her book. Kay turned around to see who was in class. She hoped she would have a work partern, but she didn't need one. Potions wasn't her best class but not her worst. Kay smiled and opened her potions book to look at while she waited for the professor.

Potions seemed kind of...unwelcoming. Shrugging the feeling off, Skye looked around, confused. How was she supposed to do this? "Erm...can someone help me, please?" she asked nervously, not daring to look up. She shuffled her feet awkwardly for a bit and sneaked a glance up to her surroundings.

Stepping into the potions classroom Zoe paused and silently gagged. Ehhh, the smell was surely something she was going to have to get used to.
Knawing on her bottom lip gently she looked around the room. She definitely recognized people, but didn't feel like she knew anyone well enough to assume she could sit by them.
Setting her supplies at an empty station she noticed the notice on the board from the professor. Looking around for someone to show her how to set up she retrieved some lavender oil from her bag to try and distract her nose from the unfriendly smells in the room.

Daniel picked a workstation near the wall and sets up his things in a flash. He then looked around and try to find if someone is in need of help. He is not particularly excited with this class. The Professor is good and he had won a prize last term and it is good...
Maybe he should consider being close to the man.

Claire entered the classroom and a strong smell filled her nose. It is like a mixture of... everything? She settled herself down in one of the table near the back. Looking up at the board, she saw that everyone will need to set up their equipments. Claire certainly does not know how to do this. She looked around, feeling confused. Hoping that someone will be able to help her with the setup.

The door to the potions room opened again and the shriveled, decrepit potions master entered the room, shuffling in slowly and depending on his cane for support. His eyes scanned the room, and he was pleased to see so many pupils setting up their equipment or already set up.
He arrived at the lectern at the front of the room.
"I see that the majority of you have managed to follow basic directions. Very good." His eyes moved from station to station, pausing on any students who were straggling.
"Let us get right to business. Potions ingredients can, by and large, be separated into two major classifications, based upon the source of the ingredient. Who here can tell us what the two major classifications for potions ingredients are?" He leaned upon the lectern, awaiting the students' answers.

Jack flipped through his textbook, trying to find the answer. He wasn't exactly sure as he raised his hand, and Kazi's class was not usually one that he liked to be WRONG in...even at the age of 16, Kazi still scared him. Like a LOT.
"Isn't it something like...potion ingredients taken from magical creatures and then potion ingredients taken from plants?" he answered rather uncertainly. "Like, for example, billywig stings would fall under the first one, and fluxweed would fall under the second category."

Evelyn sat still for a moment, watching the Professor walk up to the front. She was slightly nervous, since the professor did kinda gives her the chills whenever he was around...but still, she was excited for the class.
'Hmm...two classifications for potion ingredients?' It felt like she should probably have known this, but she was doubtful with her answer. "Plant and Creature, Professor?"

Bella entered the classroom. Oh all the smells, her noise began to tickle.
Noticing the writing on the board, she took a seat and began to get all of her supplies out.
"Ok, lets see," though Bella as she got out a quill and some paper to take notes, she sometimes had trouble with potions, ok well, usually things go wrong. She's usually just miss one instruction then the entire project wold callaps, well thats what happened in science class back in the muggle world in England when ever they would do experiments with chemicals and stuff like that.
“Oh I wonder what we'll do in class today?!?!” thought Bella, potions had to be interesting.

Delana was in the middle of getting everything set up when the professor walked in. She stopped working for a moment to listen to him.
Well, potions ingredients come from plants or magical creature... she thought to herself...
"Well, it would be Plant and Creature wouldn't it?" she answered while setting up the last of her supplies.
Delana looked up and waited, wondering what she'd be doing on her first day of potions.... "Hopefully I don't screw anything up..."

Eva didn't have much interest on POtions. Well, truth be told, she was not interested in Potions. She was there mostly because of Kaz than properly for his subject. She was hoping she could get a chance to talk to him once outside the classroom and confirm her suspicions. Of course that trying to find out exactly what Helios was meddled in was an aditional bonus.
The teacher's questions woke up her up from her thoughts. Yes! She knew that. Raising her hand, Miss Longwood answered quickly:
"It's Plants and Creatures, Professor Kazmeriz." Thank Merlin that class was only Potions 101. The Basics of Potions has a cience.

For some reason Josh had been waiting for this class. Maybe because he'd enjoy doing some handwork so it might not be boring or he was thinking of simply enjoying himself playing with a cauldron with a boiling substance inside. Grinning with the idea he was nearly late when he finally decided to ran in the dungeons bumping into many other students and listening to their annoyed and sometimes rude complainst after him.
Now he was sitting uncomfortably and restless, because it was so dark and weirdly cold inside not to mention the heavy mix of scents lingering in air. From where he sat his eyes could spot housemates Zoe, Rafe, Jack and others he was kinda familiar with but he had not even one little glance of Slytherin colours till, of course, he heard his voice answering the question the professor had asked.
