Antonio walked into the classroom and set up a large table at the front of the room, which was covered with a wide variety of footwear. There were sneakers, boots, high heels, stiletto heels, platform shoes, all manner of footwear that was popular with muggles in a wide variety of colors and sizes. The interesting thing about these shoes is that they were all brand new and were still inside the boxes. To the side was a muggle Christmas tree with bright lights and colorful ornaments covering it. It was beautiful to look at, and Antonio and a few students had worked on it all weekend to get it ready for the lesson. After all, it was the holiday season and Antonio thought that it would be fun to have the tree up. There were other gifts under the tree, wrapped up with colorful papers, and that would be spoken about later in the lesson, too.

"Hello students," Antonio called out as the students began to enter the classroom. "We're going to get started in a little bit, so just have a seat and I'll be ready in just a bit."

Antonio laughed. "I know it's not really Christmas, but I wanted to pretend that it is, anyway. It's close to the end of term and I wanted to make a little special surprise for all of you."

He looked around the room. "Okay, first question. Who can name some of the different types of shoes which are worn by muggles? Your first textbook should give you some ideas on this."

ooc: All info you need for this lesson is probably going to be found in my first post, though there may be some surprises at the end.

I'm going to bed now, feel free to answer away and I will update this tomorrow morning!

Kiri pushed aside the sock catalogue and skimmed a few pages on shoes at random. Where she wanted to buy and wear a lot of the different kinds of socks, she was less sure about the shoes. They had a lot diversity as well, of course, but Kiri just couldn't imagine walking in some of them, let alone being comfortable.

She raised her hand. "Well, there's, er... running shoes for sports and stuff. And..." She flipped another page. "And... Ooh, fancy dress shoes. Can people actually walk in them?"

'Different types of shoes...' Glancing in the textbook, she looked at how many there actually were. 'Athletic shoes? Huh...' Humming a quiet tune, Evelyn read the rest of the page before raising her hand. "Some of them are athletic shoes, winter boots, sandals, and dress shoes, Professor." she said, putting her hand down as she spoke and then continuing to look through the books. 'Rain boots? Why don't they just cast a spell so water doesn't...oh right. Muggles.'

Oh god..question one. Emiliano raised his hand, he was just going to blurt out one or two types of shoes, though. He raised his hand, trying to think how the hell Di called those tortouring things she wore to work at times. Em just shivered at the thought...

"Well, for sports...they use tennis shoes, sneakers...and when going to work, most Muggles use this leather shoes, and women wear this shoes that make them look talller, they're called heels, I think..." He said.

Of course, he remembered the boots for cowboys and cowgirls, sometimes made of animal skin. Ouch...

Jason raises his hand. " Rock Stars and people who danced disco especially if they were short wore platform shoes" Jason told the Professor DuMont. " Elton John is one of the most famous people ro wear these shoes" Jason said to Professor DuMony/

"Well there are soooooo many. But it isn't just muggles you know? You should see my shoe wardrobe some time sir! Ballet flats, gladiator sandals, kitten heels, peep toes, pumps, stilettos, booties, lace up boots, steel capped boots, mary janes, jellies, jandals, clogs, slippers, wedge heels, wellies, Ugg boots, Mocassins, low top sneakers, high top sneakers, ankle boots, skimmers, mules, Oxfords, D'Orsays and platforms, to name like, just a few."

Fyo raised his hand. "Three of them are work boots, rain boots and ballet shoes, sir," he stated, since some of the other students had already mentioned most of the other types. "Although, the last are generally worn by ballet dancers." He paused for a second, then added,

"Of course, the type of footwear muggles wear also depends on the territory they live in. In some places, such as the subcontinent, there are beautiful, local types such as the Khussa and the Kolapuri."

He loved the Kolapuri to bits!

Cedric raised his hands, he just hope that his answer would made a sense and not a silly one although it maybe really silly and lame to other people. "Oh. There are some Signature Shoes. It is made by really famous fashion designers around the globe and they sold it to people on a very expensive price. An example of a signature shoes Prada. I saw Professor Bunzy wearing one. Mmmyeah. That's all." answered Cedric, wondering how silly he looks in front of the class.

Well, he gave the credits of his answer to Professor Bunbury because of her he had learned that muggles have signature shoes.

Chris raised his hand. He knew a few types of muggles shoes but the others had mentioned most of them. "Professor I hear alot of muggles wear sandels called FlipFlops!" he said with a grin. That named always cracked him up.

Kay knew a little about muggle shoes. She loved wearing the trainers. "Professor there are so many different types of muggles shoes. There are boots, sandals, work, dress, and athletic one. My favorite are the athletic by Nike and Adidas." Kay answered. She really did like the muggle shoes.

She was flipping through the pages, almost getting a headache. There were SO many. And the socks! Some just made her cringe, like these pink ones that were probably for small children. Or BunBunz. Snort. But some socks Miranda found pretty awesome, were a pair of yellow dotted ones.

But shoooes... Looking down at her own, she smiled, they were her favorite, bought in Sweden last summer. Though, she did need a new pair.

Just as she was looking down over the edge of the desk, she noticed a pair of SHOES that had appeared suddenly. Her brow furrowed clearly noticing they had not moved yet. Looking up, the boy she had been seeing skipping in was before her. Oh no, had he seen me watching him?

And then he spoke. And Miranda gaped a little. She just had to look around and behind her. For all she knew, the boy was talking to someone else. But he was talking to her and a big smile spread on her lips as she figured that out. "Oh, yeah, s-sure!" Miranda watched him as he talked again. "Nice to meet you Blake, I'm Miranda." her cheeks puffed with the smile and she, ofcourse, waved a little. Reflex. He seemed really nice.

Type of shoes? Gosh, there were so many!
Miranda raised her arm to anwser. ""Sir, there are Dutch clogs you can wear...They are made of wood. Why clogs? They were funny.

Alexandra smiled and waved her hand in the air, "THere are rain shoes, dress shoes, athletic shoes, sandals, et cetera. " Gah! She felt like Forrest Gump's buddy.... shrimp anyone.

Rachel spent the first few minutes of the lesson absorbed in the magazines, looking up only to greet Lobster as she sat down next to her and giggle at her best friend's initial expression. After browsing through almost half the catalogue (she was a VERY thorough browser) she head Professor Antonio begin with the questions. Sighing, the sixth year put down her reading materials - well, so to speak - and opened her mouth to start answering...

... And closed it right back up again when Celandine began listing all types of footwear known to mankind. Rachel simply stared at the younger girl as she talked and talked and talked. Being a Ravenclaw, Rachel could understand this sort of behaviour but, er, yeah. It was a TAD excessive.

"Erm, thigh-high boots?" It was the first thing that came to mind.

Alice face lit up. He had agreed that it was lovely. She might get like that one soon. As she made a mental note about that, Alice smiled. "Which one is your favourite?" she asked in low voice, smiled at him, without disturbing the class. She could be calm but since It was Fyo who was sitting next to her, it was impossible to her tobe quiet.

Lion Power..hehe..

She flipped through the catalogue and raised her hand naturally, "There is a type called Indian Jooties sir," she said, smiled.

Grinning, Miranda glanced at Blake who she still wondered why he had decided to join her. Was he planning on doing some joke on her? Hmmm...

To answer the Professors next question, she raised her arm again. "Sir, we use shoes to protect our feet. Animals have those little pads that protect them, but we dont. Isn't the skin under our feet pretty delicate?" She furrowed her brow in confusion. Anyways, "Though, I'm guessing that if we did not use shoes, our feet would become pretty toughened...But...Why not use shoes instead." Eh? Well, hopefully that made sense.

After taking a smiling glance at Fyo, Alice raised her hand up agian, "To protect our feet from diseases, and some injurious stuffs like stones and other sharp objects, above all for style. That's why we chose designer shoes.." she said with a small giggle.

Shoes were especially distracting Evan. He loved shoes, especially the trainers, and he just couldn't take his eyes off the catalogue. Not now, a question. He raised his hand slowly as his mind was still on new Adidas. "We wear to protect our feet. Animals have some special material under their feet to protect from nature, but we don't."

Kiri raised her hand. "Well, I think it's mainly used for protection. Human feet are pretty complicated, and if you get injured somehow, you're in big trouble." She nodded sagely. Of course, humans were animals, but the professor's point was clear.

"Shoes can protect us from, er... sharp stones for example, or dangerous ground. Or cold, of course! Especially up here in the north." Kiri indicated the imaginatively shaped shoes at the front of the classroom. "Most of the shoes we were today are for looks though, I think. The earliest shoes looked more like bags to put our feet in - for protection, like I said. But today they've become, you know, an item of clothing that can be chosen to wear so that it fits with whatever else you're wearing."

Kay thought about this and thought the answer was pretty much an easy one. "Professer, we use shoes so that our feet won't get hurt by walking around. We could step on something that would hurt us and the shoes help keeping that from happening." Kay said hoping it was a good answer.

Oooh this one she might know, or at least it was sorta obvious...maybe.Raising her hand Sarah recited her answer, which in hindsight was more or less the same as everyone else. "We wear shows because the skin on the underside of our feet is not as tough as that of an animal.They have pads of extra thick skin, whereas we have quite thin delicate skin and would cut very easily on rock or glass." Yeah that was it, right? Putting her hand back down, Sarah bit her lip as she looked over at Mariel, then the tree again, giving both a quizzical expression.Did Professor Dumont REALLY think it was still December?

Well this was certainly turning out to be an interesting lesson. Lorcan knew that magic probably wouldn't feature hugely in Muggle Studies but shoes and feet? This was weird.

Lorcan tentatively raised his hand "Sir, humans usually wear shoes because our feet are more sensitive than animals' feet. The skin on our feet is softer so it needs to be protected by socks and shoes." He glanced at Lexi again, to see if she was taking any notice of him.

Alexandra looked to Lorcan as he spoke and then turned her attention back to the teacher. Raising her hand she said, "Well, we wouldn't want our feet to get all nasty, so we wear shoes. Animals have protection on their feet which allows them to walk around without shoes."
