| | Muggle Studies Lesson 2
Antonio walked into the classroom and looked around, making sure that his desk was clear. He then set a large box on top of the desk. Inside the box were various items which the students would be needing for later on. There were muggle items inside, items that weren't supposed to work inside Hogwarts, but Antonio had made certain that these would. He waited for the class to show up so the lesson could get underway.
ooc: I will be back in a little bit. Just go ahead and get settled, and we will start the lesson up shortly. Don't worry!

Herminny looked in her book and saw a little something she thought might be good to add and answered saying, "Yes the 1st portable camera was invented by John Strognofe in 1865 but the text says some people believe the 1st camera was invented before Christ and it does'nt mention who invented it but I can imagine more primative forms of the camera in that era cause something had to lead up to the portable camera. Thus I believe the first form of camera was invented sometime before Christ.".

Zoe loved these things and was so relieved to finally really know about something before class started. Raising her hand she added smiling, "My grandfather on my father's side loves these things professor. He has all kinds of these and takes pictures as a hobby for people. A famous photographer named Ansel Adams, from the begining of the 19th century, is his favorite."
Glancing back at her text Zoe noticed something called the camera obscura and looking up adding, "I believe that in c1021 Ibn al-Haytham described the way camera obscura's worked for the first time, which technically were the first camera's. They were used by cave muggles they say to get cave paintings in deep caves."
"So the first camera was probably technically a hole in a animal hide when people lived in caves or huts. Although I believe my grandfather told me once that the first camera obscura was built by Abu Ali-Hasan Ibn al-Haitham between 965 and 1039." Thank goodness for her Grandfather DeValk. Kay turned to listen to the professor. Oh, she knew the answer to this. Kay put her hand in the air to be called on. "Sir the first portable camera was invented by John Strognofe in 1685. It was not however not the first form of imageing." Kay told the professor.

With the last question, Evan snapped back to reality. Had he really... zoned out? Literally? And he thought he liked this class! He looked around. Aw, he really had. He made a face, and didn't bother to answer after that many answers. He should get football out of his head, and he should concentrate on the lesson. Yes sir! He looked at the professor in the eye, and waited ready for the next question. He'd be the first. Oh yeah.

Hogwarts RPG Name: Audio Eastwood Graduated | Audio put the camera aside and started to flip through the book, taking in the information along with seeing some of the exact answers that some people were spouting out. Again, he thought it was pointless to just yell out the same answer that everyone else was. What was the point? So Audio continued to flip through- maybe he could even answer before everyone else this time. |

Jack raised his hand and replied, 'The first camera that was of any practical use was Daguerre's daguerreotype in 1837. It was the first image that was fixed and did not fade, but it needed almost thirty minutes of light exposure. That's why people never smiled in those old photos. Who could hold a smile that long?' |

"Yes, those are all excellent answers!", he said enthusiastically. "Five points to Gryffindor for the great contributions. It seems like some of you have used cameras before, am I right? Has anyone ever heard of something called a Brownie camera, and who made it?"

Finally, Evan's opportunity! Shooting his hand in the air, he said "They are a serie of long-running and cheap cameras. They were made by Eastman Kodak." Which made him think... the now's Kodak was that time's Kodak too? Cool!

Jack raised his hand and replied. 'The brownie was an old box camera made by Eastman Kodak. Instead of a viewfinder in the back like most cameras of today, the viewfinder was on the top, which made it rather clumsy for setting up a shot. Guess people didn't know better, because they sold a lot of them.' |

Zoe was really getting into this lesson. After glancing briefly at her book she raised her hand high again she replied exitedly, "The Brownie was originally introduced in Feb. of 1900 and made out of cardboard. It helped to popularize the camera for the common folk."

Hogwarts RPG Name: Emma Starr First Year | "yummy," Emma thought "brownies sound good right about now"
but that was besides the point
Emma raised her hand and figured she'd add what she had read as well since everyone had already given the correct answer "One of the most popular brownie models was the Brownie 127. Bert Hardy, a famous picture post photographer, had written an article saying that an expensive camera wasn't necessary and therefore millions of the Brownie 127 were sold between 1952-1967"

Lucille knew this. Her mother had an old one that was kept in the attick, but Lucille snuck up to look at it whenever she could. "A Brownie camera is made by Eastman Kodak. They are good because they produce low-cost snapshots. The first one came in 1900."

Nataly frowned, reading her text frantically. She knew nothing about muggle cameras, being the daughter of predjuced pureblood snobs.
When she finally found out the answer, many students already answered. But still, she raised her hand to answer. Slytherin pride, eh? "Brownie is a camera invented by Eastman Kodak in 1900. It was cheap and was the first camera to make snapshots."
