"Sir, that would be a camera. It's what muggles use to take photos. But their photos do not move, sir. They are what muggles call stills." Kay said hoping she didn't say to much.

"Muggle photos don't move?" Evelyn frowned, turning from looking at the girl to the camera she held. "That's strange..."

"See I knew you were smart " Jason told Louann. With the professor not looking, Jason tickles Lou Ann as he sits directly behind her.

Chris's eyes widened as Professor Dumont passed each student a muggle picture device. "Professor, I beleive this is called a CamEraa!" he said quiete confidently. He thought he was doing pretty well for a pure-blood wizard.

"No, not at all." Kay said to Evelyn. "I looked at some of my cousins and no movement at all. It's kind of boring." Kay looked at the camera and knew how it work. She had play with one before. Kay like taking pictues.

Jack raised his hand as the camera passed by. "That's a camera professor. Or, more specifically--a MUGGLE camera. It kind of looks like ours, but it's smaller and shinier," he added, watching as people passed it around. "AND I heard it takes pictures that STAND STILL!"

THAT had to be crazy talk. No WAY pictures didn't moveeeee. It was absurd to even think that!

"That's a camera!" Emma said excitedly " I have one just like it at home! I always carry it around with me in case i see someting i HAVE to take a picture of. However, this camera takes still pictures, unlike the moving ones wizards are used to." maybe this class would be so hard after all. Emma smiled to herself

"Okay you got to be joking." Evelyn suddenly laughed, shaking her head. "Pictures don't stand still..." She looked closely at the camera, shaking it somewhat. 'Muggles are weird.' she thought, putting the camera on the desk and scooting it away slightly.

Audio took a good look at the camera handed to him. Instead of speaking up and saying the same answer as everyone else, he just poked around at it. He flicked the lens cap off and looked inside at the optical sphere of the... lens? Is that was it was called? He then picked it up, holding the camera to his eye as he looked through the viewfinder, watching the class through it- which probably looked... pretty odd.

"I know it sounds scary, but really the photos do not move." Kay said to Evelyn. "They just sit there." Kay wonder if she had any muggle pictures with her. Kay grab her bag and start to go thought it. Oh yes! here was one. "Here look, It's a muggle picture of my grandmother." Kay said handing it to Eveyln. "See they don't move."

Fred raised his hand and answered based on a book he had read as a child with one saying, "I believe that zoom in camera that you could use to take pictures of something far away in a way it looks like they are are a lot closer though since this is a muggle item I imagine the pictures would not move but it's still a pretty cool item nonetheless.".

Alexandra smiled brightly as she took her object. Raising her hand she said, "It's a camera Professor." She began fiddling with the controls and thinking about what great photos she could take with it.

Emma, familiar with the technology, began to fiddle with her camera, getting the settings just right. She then picked it up and looked through the view finder.
"hmmm..." she wondered to herself " I wonder if it'll work? I know muggle objects aren't supposed to work inside hogwarts walls, but this was muggle studies after all."
experimently, she took aim at the professor who's attention was else were and expertly pushed the shutter button. A satisfying "click" came from the camera.
"Sweet!" She said, not realizing she had said it out loud.

Evelyn looked skeptically at the girl before taking the offered photo. Sure enough, it wasn't moving. Frowning at it, she flicked it. Maybe scaring it or making it angry would make it move. Nope. Didn't work. She turned and bent it slightly different ways, not enough to damage it though, hoping to get it to move.Tapping the picture with her finger a couple times, she dropped it to her desk as if it was a disease when nothing would make it move, scooting it back over to the girl. "Okay...I believe you."

Herminny had an idea of what the item was cause she grew up in a muggle backround but she had never seen a camera like this. Her mother not being all that tech savvy was probably the reason. None theless Herminny raised her hand and said, "I believe thats a camera professor", well that was obvious to her but she had no idea of how the different extra features worked. When the camera being passed around made it into her hands she looked perplexed at all the added things on what looked like what she remembered to be camera. She was pretty sure growing up muggle she was'nt gonna learn anything new today but it seems she was wrong cause they were probably gonna learn how to use this advanced sort of camera.

Kay picked the picture back up and looked at Evelyn. "Are you ok? I told you they didn't move." Kay said feeling a little bad for scaring Evelyn. "You don't look so good. It's only a picture. It's ok." Kay thought maybe Evelyn thought she catch something from it. Kay turned to Marie to ask if she would like to look at the pictue before Kay put it away. She didn't want to share it with everyone.

Mina took the camera and looked at it closely. Bring it up to her eye, she looked through the viewfinder. She had a gasp of how it worked and was a bit fasinated with the whole thing actually. Non-moving pictures. Yes, she was used to the wizard varity of pictures but muggle pictures were different. Wonder if it works. Moving it away from her face, she found a small button on the right side. Glancing around she smiled and looked into the viewfinder and pointed at her things. 'Worth a try,' she told herself as she pressed the button and heard the click. Nice, it works. She had a feeling she was going to really like this lesson.

"That's a camera, it comes from camera obscura, it's a device that records images, such as a still photograph," Rafe answered as he raised his hand. He actually liked these muggle devises, it was a great way to make a memory, but not as good as having pictures that move.

'Oooo, a camera' Marie thought as she took one from the box. She had heard about them and seen pictures of them but she had never held one before.

"Fast response by Gryffindor!", Antonio smiled. "Five points to Gryffindor for being so quick. So, who do you think invented the first camera, and in what year?"
