Antonio was busy getting the classroom ready for the students. He knew they would soon be filing in for the first lesson of the season, and wanted to make sure everything was in order. He set his desk up at the front of the room and set up a stack of books there. The books were labelled with the title "Self Defense".
"Hello, everyone, and welcome back to Hogwarts and the first Muggle Studies class. Please pick up a Self Defense textbook and have a seat. We're just going to wait for the class to fill up a bit, as usual, so make yourselves comfortable." He smiled. This was an important lesson he would be teaching today. It was similar to a class he had taught a few terms back on martial arts, yet different. He thought the class would find the lesson useful and informative.

"Okay, I think I understand now," she nodded. "I'll be thief. My brothers call me that all the time." she laughed.
Playing the innocent victim, Sara turned her back on Mina, held her bag loosely by her side and waited for the attack to begin. Sara wondered what she would do if she was really attacked in the muggle world...
"I don't know, you brought them up." Sylvia folded her arms. How was SHE meant to know about cars and things? She nodded, and moved the desk correctly so it was beside her, this was ow her beautiful pink car. Hehe. Wait, could cars be different colours? Anyway ...
"Yes, and I hope you don't have one." Sylvia said quite warily. Naaah, he wasn't a trained killer, she'd beat him up if he was. Sylvia listened at Blake set the scene. She was in a ... parking lot, with a car, in the dark. She knew she'd never be in that situatuion, ever. "Oooh! Can I have lots of shopping bags? Instead of stealing my lipstick, you steal one of my shopping bags." Whatever, as long as he stole something.
"Let's go for it!" Sylvia had to think of a way of to stop him robbing her WITHOUT violence. She needed the textbook. Luckily, Blake's was still on the desk, so she flipped it open to the self defense bit and followed the words with her finger.
Blake chuckled, "Yeah okay, shopping bags sound better and mooore valuable than a lipstick." Seriously, lipsticks scare him.
After Sylvia gave him the green signal, Blake took out his wand from his bag and hid it under his robes. He looked around the classroom in search of something pillar like as he scratched the back of his head. What could he use as a pillar?? Eerrr, let's leave that bit out, after all they aren't shooting for a movie and the class is supposed to be about self defense not on how to rob, teehee.
Giving thumbs up to her, Blake undid the knot of his tie and tossed it in his bag. Once satisfied by the situation, Blake pounced at Sylvia from the corner and thrust her on the desk, GENTLY as they weren't doing a scene for an action movie. Giving her a dark look, he placed his wand on her neck, holding it like a gun, "Give me the bags NOW, pretty lady or face the consequences." He barked in a verrry rough and husky voice. Lifting his wand from her neck, Blake brushed a strand of Sylvia's hair off her face with the tip of his wand, grrrr.
Bwahaa, Blake tried hard to suppress his grin which was threatening to break out anyyy moment. Hehe, he's one goood actor.

'Wake up boy! 'Nearly every student in the class is taken. He was still sleepy, though the shock of sleeping during some topic that he'd enjoy, hit him. He looked around to see a familiar face to practice with. He was quite confident about self defense since his cop dad taught him some little tricks. There was no familiar face in his eyesight so he shouted out to the class ''HEYYY EVERYONE! Anybody wants to enjoy themselves with Joshua, master of anything which is not about books!''

Grinning sheepishly, Tammy began her own little walk, making it so she was on the balls of her toes and made it so she couldnt be heard MUCH.
Smiling to herself she flicked her feet forward and crept up behind Rayedem slipping her hand round a handle of his bag and giving it a tug.

Mina looked at Sara and thought carefully at her thinking about how she was going to approach this. Gathering her courage, she slowly walked toward the other girl and tried to reach for the loosely held bag. Reaching forward and taking it in her hand. "She really wasn't a great thief," she thought to herself.

Just as her hand grabbed the bag, she heard something and turned her head at the sound of the voice. "What's he going on about?" she asked herself. Her concentration shot again, she reached for the bag again.

Evelyn was just finishing the final touches of another picture on her paper when someone shouted. That familiar voice. Smiling widely while finishing her picture, she finally looked up to see him a little ways away from her. 'Wonder if he is tired of me hanging around yet.' she thought, putting her quill down. "Hey Josh." she said, wondering if he would hear her over the noise of the classroom. Even she couldn't really hear herself.
Blake chuckled, "Yeah okay, shopping bags sound better and mooore valuable than a lipstick." Seriously, lipsticks scare him.

Before acting out that she had just had a wonderful day of shopping for herself, Sylvia watched Blake who was further away .. taking off his tie? He wasn't going to strip for this was he?! Phew, that's all he did. But, don't robbers where ties? Never mind.
"Oooooh. What a lovely day shopping. I'm just going to get in my box car now!" She acted, giggling a little, before Blake decided to push her against the desk. "Hey! Professor Dumont said no force!" Although she wasn't sure if that was only directed at the victim, anyway ...
Sylvia was quite shocked as to how Blake was acting as if he'd done this before, and how he moved her hair out of her face with his wand creeped her out. But he'd also called her pretty lady, hmmm. "Really?" She stopped herself before she went on and got back into character. Maybe I should just give him the shopping bags? That wouldn't be good self defense now would it? Instead, she pretended she brought out a can of pepper spray out of her pocket and made a 'shhhhh' noise.
"PEPPER SPRAAAAAY." She yelled in a tuneful voice, as if it needed to be said when someone used pepper spray.
Fallon clung to her bag tighter as Evan pulled harder. This is a lot harder then I thought it would be. she thought silentally to herself, still panicking a bit. He started to shake it harder and she knew shouting again wouldn't help.
As he grabbed her hand, she tried to keep her guard up because him holding her hand was enough to make her melt. She tightened her grip on the bag and turned around so her back was to him now. She pulled her bag in front of her and held it to her chest. She hoped that this would work.
Wow, Fallon was strong! And she was determined not to leave the bag too. Evan felt his arms getting tired as he too sticked to the bag, pulling. Seeing as his effort on making her drop the bag was in vain, he too tightened his grip, but she made something Evan couldn't foresee. He was thrown off with so much force that he couldn't help falling down. She was definately strong, and he took a mental note that he would never mess with her. He also realised that he was decieved by Muggle movies in which women let go of the bag too quickly. It was easy in the movies!
Grinning, he got up and held out his hand as high-five. "Nice one." he said and winked. It was his turn now...
Antonio watched approvingly as the students handled the exercise. "You're all doing very well," he commented. "Self defense is a very good thing to know, just in case. Even though we have our magic, you just never know."

Fallon still had her back to Evan. She turned her head over her shoulder because he had stopped fighting. She noticed that he was lying on the ground. She turned around to face him as he got up. She gave him a high-five. "Thanks." She said grinning.
She then remembered it was Evan's turn. "So are we doing this the same way? Or are we doing something different?" Fallon asked.

Blake rolled his eyes, why is she getting out of character? Orr maybe he was taking this a bit too seriously like his career depended on acting, hehe. "He said 'no violence from the Robbeeeee's side', hoookaaai?" Shaking his head, he took a deep breath, grr he was so damn serious about this.
slam.slam.slam He felt like slamming his head on the desk every time Sylvia got out of character. Crushing the violent feelings, Blake glowered, "Hand me the bags or DIE!" He cringed his teeth and yanked the 'imaginary' shopping bags from her hands. Laughing rather evilly, Blake 'the robber' winked at the pretty lady and was about to escape when Sylvia showered his face with the virtual pepper spray, "Oh my eyes, my eyes! GET BACK HERE YOOUUU..." He growled, rubbing his eyes as he released the bags and dropped to the ground in slow motion, yelling "NOOOO" in a very dramatic tone.

He looked around, and many people were doing it the same way. "Yeah, guess." he said, and grabbed his bag and hung it on his shoulder.

"Okay," Fallon looked at a boy who was writhing on the floor from being sprayed with 'Pepper Spray'. She tried to contain her laughter as she went to go put her bag down. She looked at Evan and gave him the signal that said she would be ready to start when he was.

Okai, Blake was going mental. "EEEK!" Sylvia squealed as Blake got scary and more threatening. But when Blake got fake sprayed, she thought it would be a good oppurtunity to pick up her 'shopping bags', sit on top of the desk, draw her legs to her chest and close the pretend car door. "I'm safe in my car! You can't get me now crazy man! Bwahahaha!"
Mina looked at Sara and thought carefully at her thinking about how she was going to approach this. Sara could feel Mina's tentitive tug on her bag, but didn't know how to react to the situation. Quickly turning around and surprising Mina, who was looking over at a commotion that was going on between two other students, Sara was able to easily pull her bag from Mina's grip.
Then, to allow for a get-a-way, Sara swung her bag at Mina and quickly ran for safety. In a real situation, Sara knew that she would never have had the courage to swing her bag at a bad guy, she probably would've just dropped it and ran, but it made her feel good to make believe that she would have!
Then, sheepishly looking at Mina, Sara said, "Okay Mina...your turn!"

Crazzzzy man? bwaaahaa. Laughing, Blake pretended to crawl behind the car as it supposedly sped off. "I WILL CATCH YOU!!!!!" He stuck his tongue, still laying on the floor. Raising both of his hands up, Blake pouted, "Helllppp me get up Sylviaaa." He ruffled his hair and stretched, this was FUN!

Glancing around, she tired to see what the other pairs were doing. Still unsure on how she was going to defend herself, she thought about her options.

Sylvia closed her eyes as Blake pretended to yell at her as she drove away .. or whatever a car does. She hugged her knees and burried her head.
She looked up again when he started to act normal again. She shook her head. "I think it's best if you stay down there whilst I stay here, safe." He had acted so weirdly, as if he was actually robbing her. She would NEVER set foot in the muggle world ever again if this is how they got robbed, and they didn't even have magic to defend themselves! Forget pepper spray, what if she didn't have any?

Sara didn't know what to do. She'd never been a thief before...well, maybe once... her Dad had claimed the last piece of pie and had put it away in the fridge for later, but Sara had sneaked into the kitchen, took the pie, ate the pie, and left the plate in the sink! "Was that considered stealing?" Sara wondered with a smirk on her face. The pie had been very very good!
So, collecting her nerves together, Sara watched Mina closely, and when she wasn't looking, ran at her at full force... on her way by, Sara grabbed the purse and held on for dear life...

"You really scarded me."
Scowling, Blake rose up when Sylvia didn't come to help him out, meeeh. He smoothed his shirt and walked over to Sylvia's car desk. He leaned against the desk and blinked, was she realllly scared of him? Oh gosh!! forget music, he should totally get into acting then, WEEE. "I'm sowwiee that I frightened you but to be honest, if this was a real situation, the robber would've have shot the victim in the head." Siigh, his father had told him sooo many stories about robberies and murders plus he liked watching muggle movies and they are quite violent.
Folding his arms again, Blake looked at Sylvia sweetly, "Okay your turn." He said simply and stepped aside so that Sylvia could jump out of her car, hehe.

I want you all to partner up, and I don't want anyone to get hurt. You will take turns playing the attacker and the victim. Pretend that you are muggles, and that one of you is sneaking up on the other to rob you in the park. Without using force, what do you do? What have you learned in this class about self defense? Let's see some common sense as you put your ideas to work. And remember that I will be watching, and that I will not tolerate any violence."
With that, Antonio produced some thick, padded mats, which covered the floor of the classroom. "Just remember, common sense and absolutely no violence. Everyone partner up, and if you can't find a partner, then let me know."
Antonio watched as the students paired up. "I'm watching," he told the students. "Just act out the scene I mentioned. You will be changing off, so each of you will get a chance to play both roles. You will be acting as a would be robber and an unsuspecting person who is about to be robbed, and the idea is to keep things non-violent. Try to use your head to get out of the situation, rather than blunt force. I know all of you can do it, and there are some very good ideas on this there in the Self Defense textbook. But this exercise is for you to really know what it is like for the muggles, so that you can see some of the dangers they experience from each other and how they deal with this."

Once she'd heard all the instructions, LouAnn turned to face Nathaniel, a thoughtful expression on her face. "Alright, then. Off we go. "Hmm..." She wasn't exactly sure how to be an attacker, though. LouAnn was always so innocent and good-natured, hardly a person that fit the profile of an attacker.
Alright, so according to that Pyramid of Personal Safety they'd discussed, the first step for a victim would be walking away, right? Good, so maybe Nathaniel wouldn't be too hard of a victim at first. Gulp. LouAnn laughed a little thinking about the situation, then got serious all over again. She moved behind Nathaniel, just as she was supposed to do, and proceeded to sneak up behind him. Slowly...slowly... She continued to sneak up behind him until she was at a point where she could successfully make a grab for his money.

Taken by surprised, Mina let go of her bag. Sara had already had a firm grip on it and there was no reason to try to fight for it. What did someone tell her once, you must choose your battles wisely.
She swung her arm free of the bag and ran for safety. "I'm not going to be good at this self-defense stuff," she thought as she finally turned to her partner.
