Tall bookshelves are scattered throughout the library, the smooth wood gleaming brightly in the sun that shines in through the stained glass windows. Tens of thousands of books rest upon the shelves, all waiting to be explored by eager minds. They stretch along the walls, filling each shelf and dark corner. A catalogue system has been put in place to ensure that finding and retrieving a book becomes a simple task, for the sheer amount of books can be overwhelming, particularly to the youngest of students.
At the end of the first few bookshelves in the front of the library sits a pedestal. An open book with a soft golden light emitting from it, has been placed upon the pedestal. As you approach the book, you hear a rustling and then a gentle pop. “Come closer, come closer. Don’t be afraid.” A jolly voice speaks.

When you finally do peek into the pages of a book, an elderly gentleman peers out at you, one hand rising to adjust his spectacles. “Now. What book is it that you seek? I can give you a general location or a more specific one if you know the exact title of the book.”

Once you speak your request, the man ponders for a few moments before scribbling on a piece of parchment. Squinting at what he has written, he looks back up and smiles, before speaking the location of the book. “Happy reading!” He exclaims before settling back down into a still, flat image.

OOC: Please note that the jolly man is for entertainment purposes only. I will not be RPing him each time a student approaches asking for a book.

"Hermy is my cat!" Ray revealed to Abby. "She usually goes around spying for me around the school and gets back to me to take me to that place!" Ray added. "Something I learned from my uncle Forrester!" Ray added and grinned. "So do you think we should go after Jake and LouAnn? And how do we approch them?"

Abby had completely forgotten about Ray's cat. "Oh yeah your cat." Abby blushes. "That's a difficult one. LouAnn should be no problem if she is herself. Her alter ego doesn't seem to show up as much as Jake's. I think the straight forward way would work with her. Just tell LouAnn we need to talk to her about the stones she has. According to Jake they don't know how the got them. Jake is going to be a problem. Even in his normal state, he's easily aggitated. Jake seems to be close to LouAnn. I wonder if we should ask her to convince Jake to see us. What do you think?"

Arrick found the library again after two weeks of wandering and getting lost in the hallways, but unlike his first time, today he had a purpose. After dealing with the catalogue, which wasn't hard for him (ernt more than an old computer, only it's made to look like a book, it is) he scoured the bookshelves for anything he could find about wandless, silent-casting magic.

"Ernt make sense, it ernt," he muttered to himself all the while. "Magic bein' useless without a wand. Y'had to be able t'do magic t'get here, you did, and you ernt had a wand then or know the right words. Balmy. Ernt reliable. Stupid. What's so good about magic if you ernt able t'use it without a stupid little stick?"

As he was too short to reach even the third shelf, he started climbing the bookshelves to get the books he wanted, dropping them to the ground with quiet thunks and moving onto the next, not caring how silly he looked browsing the titles sideways whilst propped up on the ledge of the second shelf.

When he'd found all he was interested in, he dropped down in a crouch, gathered all the books, and hefted them with a muted grunt to a corner to pour over them.

Shivering and knowing full well that Tammy and Brody would kill him for not resting, Torin was scanning the bookshelves trying to find something that might help him study for the Potions OWL. The only thing was that he was feeling so sick that he was having a hard time focusing on the titles of the books he was looking at.

Suddenly there was a semi-blurry form standing in front of him. "Why do you have two faces?" he asked as he squinted. Maybe if he adjusted his eyesight right things would come into focus better.

Two faces, WHAT? Fyo blinked, then realized Torin must be seeing double. "You idiot," he said, and then he had grabbed Torin by the shoulder and steered him, away from the bookshelves and towards the table nearest, only letting go of his friend after he had seated the badkitty.

"Look at you! You're sick, you didn't tell me and, to top it all, you're in the library when you should be R-E-S-T-I-N-G resting."

Fyo raised an eyebrow. Then he opened his mouth, and said the last thing anyone who knew him even a little could expect him to:

"There are things more important than studies, alright?"

Because there were! There so were! Like love, and beauty, and friendship, and the need to hold on to memories. But Fyo did not want to think about that, not right now. What he wanted, right now, was to give his badkitty a Lion!hug. He patted Torin on the shoulder, then shook his head. "You didn't tell me, bad Torinkitty," he complained. "Have you gone to the Hospital Wing?"

His poor badkitty.

He smiled weakly now. Just having Fyo here with him made him feel a bit better. He had been missing his best friend way too much. "That's cause Brody and Tammy have been keeping me in the Common Room. But I escaped."

He shook his head at the suggestion of going to the Hospital Ward. "I'm scared to go there again after last time." He looked down as he remembered that night.

Tammy and Brody. Fyo's eyes narrowed, and then he shrugged. "Fine," he said, rather loftily. "You do what Tammy and Brody say, and kill yourself. TORIN KANE! Honestly, they couldn't have told you not to go to the Hospital Wing - they care about you a whole load, you are being careless!"

Torinkitty was NOT taking good care of himself.

His expression changed when Torin spoke again, though. "I'm sorry," Fyo said, after a moment's pause. "Do you want something warm?" Like chocolate. No wait, that was bad for cough. Maybe that syrup his mum had sent him, the one that warmed one right up? ~~Or maybe a Lion!hug?~~

"Lion!hug?" Fyo suggested, reaching out to give Torin one. Then he looked down, at the book he had placed on the table, said "Wait a sec," to Torin and, stepping up to the bookshelf he had removed it from, pushed it back inside. When he came back, his eyes were still full of concern.

"You sure you don't want to visit the Hospital Wing?" He asked quietly. "I could go with you, if you like, Torinkitty."

"You're going to be alright," Fyo said firmly and, digging into his bag, he took out a little, glass bottle, more-than-half full with a clear, golden-red liquid. "Drink this," he said, handing it to Torin. "Two sips."

Hopefully, that would help a bit.

He took the bottle from Fyo and drank two sips. "Thanks, mate," he said appreciatively as he waited for the medicine to start taking effect.

At least mum can make SOMETHING right.

He leaned forward and handed the bottle back to Torin.

He took the bottle back but didn't take more immediately. He held it in front of him and glanced at Fyo curiously. "It's not possible to take too much of this stuff is it?" He didn't want to accidentally take more than he should.

His mum was... very cautious about his health. "It's always two sips - but that's when I'm not sick. I know for a fact Nova takes four or five when she's down with cold or cough."

Fyo was NEVER down with cold or cough - winter was his thing. But Nova, she was another matter altogether.

Fyo's eyes widened as Torin literally gulped down the entire contents of the bottle. Of course, it had been a little bottle, but still - Fyo shook his head, and then grinned, pretty wide, as he stowed the now-empty bottle into the depths of his school-bag.

"That was nice," he laughed. "Very." Then he added, this time a little curiously, "So do you feel any better?"
