Carter walked over to where Tori was deciding that just being completely ignored would be a lot better than being yelled out. Things would sort themselves out soon enough. "Hey Tori, feeling any better?" he asked her looking up at her head, everything looked fine.

"I feel better thanks." she answered. Then she said more quietly, looking away. "Guess i'll be out of your hair in a short while."Tori felt weird talking to Carter. Something hung between them as far as she was concerned.

There was so much chaos in the ward Caroline didn't know where do begin. WAIT - A - MINUTE.

"You don't have - both of them?" okay that wasn't even important in the grander scheme of things really, but Marcus Lawson not having his wand? He carried a spare often.

More important still was whatever was behind the curtain... how very mysterious. Caroline didn't like mysteries in her hospital. But she didn't like pandemonium in her hospital either, so the first thing that had to go was the sheer amount of people.

Livvy turned to look at Plymmie just as he walked in. Snorting and rolling her eyes. "Nice hat, Plymmie," she commented, staring at him as the dog that Nurse Avalon had by her side, attacked the boy.

EEEP! Dun kill him!

Caroline didn't even want to know what Livvy meant by "auditions." She wouldn't put it past Melita to hire people based on their tap dancing skills. Curse that woman! Oh what a tempting thought...

A scrambling commotion caught Cari's attention and she whirled around. Oh Nuuu!

Fun to think so, so Plymouth surely thought so.


He started towards Nurse AVA-LON.. about the same time the MASSIVE BEAST started after him. Plymouth let out a GIRLY SHRIEK and back peddaled. There was a completely spastic moment, where like the dog's paws, Plymouth's feet were moving but HE was not.

Plymouth tripped up and fell on his butt - then covered his FACE and head with his arms. "NOooOOooOOO!" Plymouth Morgan was NOT so very good with animals. Particularly really big ones that could eat his more important body parts. Like legs. Or heads. Hands.

Schroeder pounced on the big silly boy and barked gleefully, lookie what I found. I gots a playmate. Sluuuuurp. Schroeder licked Plymouth's face in a frenzy of delight. New friend. New friend! Ohboyohboyohboy!


"Schroeder NO!" Cari called in a firm voice. "Come here."

With a doggie sigh, Schroeder gave Plymmie one last sluuuuurp, and returned to her. He did his very best to look ashamed.

It didn't fool her for a second.

She walked away to deal with the 'healer's helper' who was too big for his britches.

"Now then, how can I help? And hello again Mr Phillips," Caroline said to Carter with a false cheerfulness that anyone could see through. "Young Lady if you'll excuse this administrative hiccough in your presence, but I must ask Mr Phillips to step away from you, as by no stretch of the imagination is he qualified to treat patients, and I'm not willing to risk my license just so that he can feel special or accidentally kill someone while learning-by-doing."

She turned to face Carter specifically."Your final duty with this hospital will be to escort your 'concussion patient' back to her common room, and then I had better never see you in this hospital unless you are ill or injured until you have sat your OWLs. If you do not comply I will have you forcibly removed. That is my right as the school nurse. Is that clear?"

Tori flashed a shocked look up at the woman and said, "What? Uh thanks, I think." What a horrible woman. I'd rather bleed to death with owl droppings on the back of my coat than come back here, Tori thought as she wheeled away toward Carter. She looked at Carter as the woman bared down on him.

"Young Lady," addressed her, "you may stay if you have an illness or an injury, but I don't read minds, you'll have to tell me what it is."

OOC: remember the rule about including a link to the post where you were injured? Can you guys please do that? Now that I'm/Cari is back I'll start deleting posts if new patients come in here and don't link to their injury/illness.

Lorcan breathed a sigh of relief that the nurse didn't seem to have time to look at his wrist. She was more than a little intimidating and reminded him rather forcibly of his grandmother. He glanced at Professor Lawson and adjusted the icepack. His wrist was starting to hurt again now, he wasn't sure if that was due to the injury or having the ice on his wrist for so long.

"Um... ok." Carter said talking a step backwards. Tori had already been healed, Livvy had done that. She was just resting and he hadn't had the time to check on her yet. After all, Tori and him were good friends. If this new healer was so worried about 'her' patients she probably should have been there for the start of term. He was by no means "trying to feel special" as she put it. He had been assigned by Healer Melita to be there, so he did it. Not that any serious cases had happened since he'd been there. Just stomach aches. And those were simple enough to 'cure.' He realized though, very soon, that some teachers here were pushy and jumped to conclusions. But I guess there was nothing he could do about it. Everyone that was here, or had been here, was fine and that was all that mattered. "I guess I'll see you when you get out of here." he said to Tori. He then walked over to Katlyn and waited for her. He was to escort her out.

"Umm.. Thanks" Katlyn said to the nurse not really knowing what else to say. She took the alarm clock and walked to Carter really wanting to go to her common room. "Can we go?" She asked him kindly. He needed some kindness right now.

Shrugging at her comment about the wands, Marcus had no idea what had happened to them and he didn't want to go into it either. He felt totally naked without his wand and an idiot because what kind of Professor was he, if he didn't even know where he had left his wand.

He sighed deeply when he realised that he wasn't going anywhere anytime soon. "Okay Caroline, I can do that." A sprained wrist, yes surely he can handle that.

Marcus moved over to the young boy and gave him a smile. "Seems like you're going to have to put up with me." He gently removed the ice pack and took hold of the kid's wrist and turned it this way and that as gently as he could. "Well it's not broken, so that's good. But it is very swollen and bruised probably where all the pain is coming from. I can fix it for you...um...you'll just need to lend me your wand for a moment." He avoided the kid's face, he knew the look he was going to get after that request and he was NOT going into in the disappearance of his wand.

Lorcan was relieved that his wand wasn't broken. He wasn't sure how much it would hurt to have injuries healed by magic. "My-my-my wand sir?" He stammered, shocked at the request. He had noticed that a few of the Professors seemed to be without their wands. Perhaps someone was playing tricks. "Sorry sir, but d-does that work?" He blushed at his rudeness to the Professor. Lorcan felt in his pocket for his wand, relieved that it hadn't broken when he fell. "Here you are sir."

"It works mate, I promise." The boy would just have to take his word for it because Marcus was not going into the how's and why's of wand lore right now. "Thank you" he said as he took the wand from the boy.

Now he had done this numerous times before, of course it had always been on himself. Probably best not tell the patient that though. He pointed the wand at the kid's wrist and cast non verbally. The swelling went down immediately but the bruise only faded slightly. Eh it was better than nothing. "How does that feel?"

Lorcan was embarrassed at doubting the Professor. "Sorry sir." he whispered. He watched as Professor Lawson pointed his own wand at his inflamed wrist, his eyes widening as the wrist deflated like a balloon that had been popped. "Wow!" It was still bruised but it didn't really hurt anymore. He wriggled his digits experimentally. "It feels loads better, thanks sir! Is that something that you learned to do at school?" Lorcan wasn't sure what he wanted to be as an adult, but being a Healer seemed like a very useful thing to do. He looked at his Professor, unsure of how to ask for his wand back. After all, if the man had lost his own wand, he might mis-place Lorcan's.

Oh would you look at that, he could fix people. Sweeeet!!! "You are quite welcome." Marcus beamed at the kid, feeling quite proud of his accomplishment. "Nah I learnt basic healing in Auror training, it's a requirement. But Healer Avalon is in no danger of losing her job to me that's for sure."

Why was the kid staring at him like that? Marcus looked down at his hands. Oh right. He still had the boy's wand. He handed it back to the Hufflepuff reluctantly, letting out a small moan as he parted with it. He wanted his wand back!! "Well I guess you're good to go."

"I told who was here." Tori stung."I was healed by Livvy, so i guess i will take my leave. I'll be back if something else goe wrong." Tori remarked as she gingerly got off the bed.

What the heck is an Auror? Lorcan wrinkled his nose in confusion but, not wanting to look stupid in front of one of his favourite professors, said nothing. "You're not scary like her though." Lorcan mumbled in response to Professor Lawson's comment about Healer Avalon. "She could give my gran a run for her money and I didn't think that was possible." He frowned, as he always did when he thought about the dragon woman.

He noticed that the Professor didn't seem to want to hand back his wand. Indeed, there was a split second where Lorcan thought that he might not hand it over. He took his wand and stowed it swiftly in his pocket again. "Thanks sir!" He hopped off the bed and slipped his shoes back on. "See you later!" He walked calmly but quickly out of the ward, fearful of provoking the wrath of Healer Avalon.

"Yeah. Come on. Let's go." Carter said taking one more look at the Hospital Wing that he used to love being in. He now hoped he'd never be back here again. And with that he turned and headed out the door.

Coughing into his hand to cover the laugh that had burst from his lips, Marcus cleared his throat. Oh yes Caroline Avalon was back and didn't the kids know about it. "See you later mate."

Marcus stood up looked around the room and was pleased to see that it was almost empty now. For some reason Plymouth Morgan was here, Marcus shrugged he would let Caroline handle him. "Seems the coast is reasonably clear now" he said to Caroline. Hopefully now they could tend to the...ah...dead student.

Caroline tossed a glance around the room. "Livvy, would you take Plymouth out of here? I'm not sure why my dog likes him so much, but I don't think the feeling is mutual," she said to the girl. Livvy was sensible, she could handle things.

Looking back at Marcus she stepped over to the curtain. "Now what exactly is going on here, or dare I ask?"

"It's not pleasant" he said speaking in a low voice and ushering her towards the bed with the drawn curtains. "Mr Kane, found this student down in the dungeon level, he immediately came and got me." He pulled the curtains back to show Caroline, the student. "As you can see...he's dead. I gave the body a quick check and could see no obstructions or any marks on the child whatsoever." Marcus looked at Caroline with a grim expression on his face, "If I had to hazard a guess I would say that it was the killing curse."

Caroline's jaw fell to the floor. Granted she had not been sure what to expect when she returned to Hogwarts, but...

"What has everyone been doing while I was-" well what she was doing was not important. She shook her head as if to clear it and start again. "Never mind," she continued in hiss so that the stragglers wouldn't catch any of it, "Who, besides Torin Kane, knows about this? Any other students? The staff? Melita?" Melita did not earn the status of staff as far as Caroline was concerned.

The old Cari might have been more shaken. She was not the old Cari anymore. Amazing the difference six months can make.

"No-one I don't think. I asked Mr Kane if he had seen anyone else in the passage where the boy was found but he told me he hadn't seen anyone around." Marcus looked at the boy on the bed and sighed deeply and he had thought having Merpeople in the school was bad. But at least no-one had died then.

"I brought the boy's body up here and am just on my way to see the Headmaster with Mr Kane of course since he was the one to find him." Marcus, looked at Caroline again and his eyes were worried, "I didn't want to leave him here unattended especially with the ward having so many students in it. Caroline, this is really not good. I mean for it to happen here at the school. We're supposed to be protecting these kids." What he had told Tiberius a few weeks ago flashed through his mind. he had told him that nothing in life was ever guaranteed, how true those words were now.

"Don't worry about him," Caroline gestured to the dead boy as if there was still life inside him, "What do you think it would take for me to leave my hospital unprotected, as it were? He's got Schroeder and I to make sure that no one but qualified staff comes in."

Schroeder the Newfie Lab "Woof,"ed his agreement from beside her.

"You should probably go to the Headmaster sooner rather than later," she added.

Marcus nodded at Caroline, "I know you wouldn't but I wasn't too sure about Melita. I mean the woman had first years running the ward." He shook his head as he stepped away from the bed and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Thanks again, it's good to have you back." He gave her a smile and headed out of the ward at her suggestion, gesturing for Torin to come with him.

What's dat? Take Plymouth out of there?

Livvy glanced over at where Plymouth was, in the same position he had been when Nurse Avalon's left him alone. She grinned slightly at the image before, the dog practically mauling the poor boy. It was almost as good as Plymmie's ear hair from two terms ago. BOY. That was good. Nothing could ever top THAT.

She nodded her head at the Nurse. "Yes Ma'am! Welcome back!" she said, cheerfully, mock saluting her and turned towards Plymouth.

"Come on Plymmiiiiee! Let's leave Nurse Avalon to deal with the Healing stuff and reorganizing the ward. At least leave before her dog comes back and decides he wants another whiff," Livvy said, winking at the boy as she grabbed his arm and dragged him towards the exit, leaving Nurse Avalon to clean up Melita's mess.

He had remained silent for the whole time that Lawson was talking to the Nurse to the body, looking at the floor. Then he finally heard that it was time for them to go. That was the best news that he had heard in a while; he wanted to get as far as that dead kid as possible.

He noticed Lawson gesturing to him and headed out after him.
