Lucy noticed that Kat was quickly getting tired, and so she started a random conversation with her.

"So, wasn't ice-skating fun today? I think I'll go again tomorrow, I want to practice. Overall, I think today was a pretty good day, don't you?" she asked Kat.
"Except for when your head started hurting. That's not fun. But you'll feel better real soon, and then we can start pranking people again!" Lucy said excitedly.

Several sharp barks preceded Healer Caroline Avalon.

They were courtesy of her Newfoundland Lab, Schroeder, who was approximately the size of a bear, and to a stranger, perhaps as threatening.

Caroline marched in without a word, but with an expression painted on her face that clearly rad, You are in SO MUCH TROUBLE!

She paused squarely in the middle of the students who had usurped her Ward and, nostrils flaring, she said, "Explain. Now."

Rafe was about to...but then someone new was added to the group much older. She wanted us to explain? The first year was confused.

"Explain miss?" Rafe asked politely. "Are you a parent visiting someone?"

He had never seen anyone so upset...well, except for maybe Kaz.

Rage boiling inside her, Cari might have actually fumed at the ears.

"THIS IS MY HOSPITAL WING!" she shouted. "And just WHAT do you think YOU'RE doing in it?!"

Alexandra looked from Rafe to the crazy lady and shrunk back a bit. Boy was she mad!

Rafe stood up and walked to the end of Kat's bed. "Wait?! What?! I thought this was Nurse Melita's wing?" Rafe shook his head he was so confused. The only nurse he had ever known was Nurse Melita who gave out cookies to heal everything. "I'm so confused. I-I..." Rafe hated being yelled at, "I'm here visiting my friend Kat, she got dizzy so I brought her here, a lot of the other students are the Healer's Helpers!"

"You're hospital wing?" Carter asked. "Oh, you must be Healer Avalon. I was under the impression that you weren't coming back." he said. "I'm Carter, one of Healer Melita's assistants. Does she know you're here?"

We had a girl speared, last spring! We had grindylow stings, we had poisonings!!! Let's see Melita cure all that with cookies!"

"Um...that would be the one! And she lost her wand!" Rafe said as he slapped his hand over his mouth. He didn't mean to add to her little rampage, it just sort of slipped out. He slowly moved his hand. "Wow, so you're like really good healer and pretty..." he slapped his hand over his mouth once more. His face was glowing red. "Um-ean-ewe-ook-ice," he mumbled. He moved his hand once more completely embarrassed and looked at the ground.

"Sorry, so I guess the Healer's Helpers are out," he said sadly. He didn't have his turn yet. It was something he was looking forward to. Though he didn't know if he had any healing skills he just wanted to explore the branch and learn a little more.


Rafe didn't want to deal with the yelling, it was nothing he cared about it. If he wanted yelling he would have stayed home. He slipped out of the hospital ward and would come and visit Kat at a better time.

"There is no need to yell Healer Avalon." Carter said calmly. "And I am not too young to assist in a hospital. I've had plenty of experience. My parents are humanitarians and I've gone with them on all of their trips. Yes, I am a first year, but every single student that has walked in that door has been healed." he said standing up for himself and Healer Melita. He then looked over at Professor Lawson. "Expect whoever Professor Lawson has behind the curtain. He was waiting on Healer Melita, but he's been here awhile, so I'm sure he'd be very pleased if you took a look at his student."

Lucy watched the whole conversation with confusion. Who was this Healer Avalon? And why was she mad at Healer Melita? She seemed perfectly capable of healing students, and her cookies always worked. She hated it when people yelled, and she felt bad for Rafe because he was getting yelled at for doing nothing. But then he said somthing quite stupid and she snorted loudly. When will boys learn? She thought in her head.

Looking over at Kat to make sure she hadn't fallen asleep, Lucy decided to sit next to Kat on her bed.

"Well, that was weird. So, Kat, how are you feeling?" Lucy asked her.

Lorcan smiled. "She's a bit temperamental then, your owl? Funny that.". His hand was completely numb now, so he lifted off the icepack to see what it looked like. It was still a distinctly funny shape. He put the pack back on and sighed. "I hope we can go soon."




Lorcan watched the angry exchange, shrinking back into the bed as far as he could. He moved his injured hand up onto his chest so that it was visible, suddenly wishing that his face was full of boils again. He was uncomfortable that there was such a HUGE dog at the end of his bed and that the woman who was doing all the shouting seemed to be the Matron. He cast an anxious look at Lexi and saw that she took was taken aback by what had happened. He waited for his turn to be shouted at.

Abby sits quietly waiting for Professor Lupa to say she can leave when she hears a voice from hades. Abby sits up straight in the chair and looks in the direction of the voice. Then she sees what must be a bear or something standing next to her... Yup there's no mistaking it. Healer Avalon has entered the Hospital Wing. Heaven help us all.

WHO WAS THIS CHILD AND WHAT DID HE THINK HE WAS DOING TELLING HER WHAT WAS WHAT?

"I am only going to say this once more," Cari said, suddenly so deadly calm anyone with a sense of self preservation would do well to take note, pulling her wand out of its holster, yes folks, she still has her wand. "And then I'm going to do the same thing I do with all students who break the rules of my hospital. 'This is MY hospital wing. I make the rules. I decide who works here. You do not work here. Only students who have sat their OWLs and have proven their prowess in the necessary subjects may work for me. Students who loiter can and will be the unfortunate victims of banishing charms.'"

Schroeder whined, he didn't like seeing Mistress so... unhappy.

Ahhh now there was a sound he hadn't heard in a while. The yelling, screaming, tantrum throwing Caroline Avalon. Marcus, couldn't help but grin at the sight of that face that looked like it was about ready to explode. He sat by one of the beds and calmly waited for the dust to settle before he stood up approached the young woman.

"Careful now Caroline, you don't want to end up as a patient yourself and on your first day back." His eyes flicked over her and was pleased to see that she seemed to be okay and he wondered where she had been all this time. Of course it was certainly no business of his.

"Anyway it's really good to have you back Caroline. It will be nice to have a competent person around here again." His gaze went over to the bed with the curtains drawn before looking back at Caroline. "When you have things organised here, I need to speak to you...alone. It is an important matter."

Torin was a little scared right now. Suddenly Nurse Avalon was back. And while he liked her okay, her yelling was really not going over very well with him after the experience that he had just had.

So he just stood there by Lawson eating his chocolate and wishing that he had never had had to come here in the first place.

He cast a look at the closed curtain and shuddered at what he knew was behind it.

That was so weird. So so weird kat thought to her self. She had a headache and this healer person was making things worse. Well at least she's gone now. " Yea it really was" she said to Lucy. "Im sleepy" she answered to Lucy's question. She turned to Rafe. " Dont worry about it Rafe my cousin has told me about her said she screams at everybody." she said while a reassuring smile. "How about when I get out of here we go have that snowball fight I owe you"

It had been her last day as one of the Healer's Helpers and just when she was about to leave, a fuming Nurse Avalon came marching in. THANK MERLIN! The Hospital Ward would be back in order again. Livvy couldn't help but feel grateful that the woman was back, despite the shouts and anger that showed on the Nurse's face.

"Hi Nurse Avalon. We understand your anger. It is a complete MESS and has been ran by a crazy woman and a few students like me. And can I say? ... I am SO glad you're back," she said, sighing with relief as she literally HUGGED the Nurse. That was probably just asking for murder especially since the woman had a wand in her hand, but Livvy didn't care.

MELITA. BEGONE!

No more cookies and pink. PLEASE. No more!

Plymouth Morgan had put himself together a little nurse's hat. HEHE. No doubt at all that Nurse Melita would think him precious, hug him, and give him cookies and a place to lay down. January was going to be a VERY GOOD MONTH. A very, very good month. Maybe she'd rub his tummy, too....


As he entered the ward to "get to work" though - GASP!


"Nurse AVA-LON!!!" GASP AGAIN! Plymouth's mouth fell open and his arms spread wide! GET IN THESE ARMS!!!

"Marcus," Caroline said grimly, casting a scathing glance around the room, "I think it might take a large explosion to clear this place out before I can effectively organize it. A tabula rasa if you will."

No she had not missed that she was a patient, but if she was there to get well, then lie down, close your mouth and rest, for Merlin's sake.

"Now, do you require an icepack for your head or an anti-inflammatory potion?" she asked.

"Livvy, what has been going - OOOf! WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!" Caroline cried, grunting a little. She was still quite tender from her absence but more over, she had, over the last term carefully cultivated a reputation not entirely unlike that of the Potion's Master - not to be touched by students under pain of... well, pain for one thing.

Schroeder barked madly, Lady was making pain and distressed noises. Can't have that. Away from Lady please, shorter person!

Schroeder, however took a different perspective. In Plymouth he must have seen a kindred spirit.

"WOOF!" he said in his doggie way, which meant, Hi there, where have you been all my life? We're going to be BFFs and I'm going to bound across the room and leap into your arms. By the way, I weigh as much as you do. That's not a problem is it? And he stood up, began his scrambling run, his claws scratching against the floor like Scooby-doo, his tongue lolling out, and took off toward Plymouth like a bullet train.

"Her name's Jule Sinclair, miss. But she wasn't talking from personal experience," Katlyn explained to Nurse Avalon. "She just told me what others have told her, but she has no problem with you," she said, a bit in shock from all the yelling. "I don't know. All I know is that Carter told me to lie down and stay awake," Katlyn explained...again.

"Dressed like what?" Nurse AVA LON... didn't LOOK like Daphne, but she sure did SOUND like her. They both were hat-haters and Plymmy lovers?

He started towards Nurse AVA-LON.. about the same time the MASSIVE BEAST started after him. Plymouth let out a GIRLY SHRIEK and back peddaled. There was a completely spastic moment, where like the dog's paws, Plymouth's feet were moving but HE was not.

Plymouth tripped up and fell on his butt - then covered his FACE and head with his arms. "NOooOOooOOO!" Plymouth Morgan was NOT so very good with animals. Particularly really big ones that could eat his more important body parts. Like legs. Or heads. Hands.

There was so much shouting going on. Lorcan lifted the ice pack off his wrist. It was still bruised and mis-shapen. He wanted to ask the healer who had just arrived, the one with the big dog and the towering temper, to look at it so that he could leave but he didn't dare. He shifted uncomfortably on the bed, throughly glad that he had already taken off his shoes.

What was she doing? "Why I'm hugging you of course," Livvy said, simply. What else would she be doing? There's weren't many names for the action where arms were around each other. Well at least, none that Livvy knew of. But she could tell that the Nurse was suffering from pain from the look of her face and the groans she was emitting. Plus the dog looked like he was gonna EAT her so it was probably a good idea if Livvy stopped.

Releasing the woman and stepping back, Livvy apologized. "Sorry Nurse Avalon. And well... as you can see. The Ward is a complete mess, thanks to Melita. She decided to take over and had some Healer Helper auditions a few months ago. A group of students have been helping out for some time which was completely ridiculous, considering that none of us know anything about Healing. But you're BACK!" she said the last sentence rather cheerfully.

Livvy turned to look at Plymmie just as he walked in. Snorting and rolling her eyes. "Nice hat, Plymmie," she commented, staring at him as the dog that Nurse Avalon had by her side, attacked the boy.

EEEP! Dun kill him!

Marcus followed her gaze around the room and shrugged his shoulders. "I can give you a hand if you like. It might take me a little longer than you, seeing how I seemed to have lost my wand." He shoved his hands in his pockets and let out a slow breath. What he really wanted to do, was leave so that he could go and speak to the headmaster.

"But I need to show you something and then Mr Kane and myself need to go and speak to the headmaster. Like I said, it is important." Once again his eyes moved over to the bed with the curtains drawn and hoped that she would get the message.
