Today the observatory contained desks for the students to sit at, arranged in a half-moon shape though each of the desks were slightly misaligned.
There was an orb of sorts in the centre of the room which appeared to be a three dimensional 'blackboard' of sorts, shaped so that it could be seen from every angle of the rounded tower room.
The board was not empty.
It contained an image with no words to accompany it.
Professor Truebridge was sitting in a chair underneath the orb, tapping a beat out on his knee and humming a tune while he waited for his students to arrive.
Each desk had plenty of parchment and quills provided, suggesting that the students might need extra at some point in the lesson.
ooc: Class will commence in about 9 hours. Professor Truebridge WILL take points for excessive chatter. 1st to 4th years may post in this class with the exception of those who have been asked to attend the ADVANCED classes.
Matheu walked in and noticed the image on the 3-d like blackboard. It stopped him dead in his tracks.
"I've seen that somewhere. . ." Matheu muttered to himself. Luckly he came straight from Ancient Runes. He took a seat towards the middle, and took out his advance rune book. He flipped through the text until he found it. "The Deathly Hallows Conjoined Symbol" it read. Matheu read the story before school started. This was very exciting!
"Good afternoon, Professor!" Matheu said, remembering the professor was sitting across from him.
Miranda was looking forward the the class today, she didn't know why, but her spirits were high and ready to learn something new!
She proceeded to enter the classroom and noticed the unusual arrangements of the desks and the orb thingy. "Good day, Professor Truebridge!" Miranda smiled and gave a wave.
Miranda went to sit at the front of the class, taking out her quill and notebook. And also, she began to chew on a chocolate frog. Mmmm...chocolate!
Alexandra shuffles into the History of Magic classroom and finds a seat in a corner of the room. Dropping her bag beside her chair she grumbles, "Hello Professor Truebridge." She sits quietly thereafter.
Mina quietly entered the classroom and took notice of the desks. Nice, but I did enjoy the pillows last time. Moving toward the center of the cresent, she saw Professor Truebridge. "Good day, professor," she smiled as she found a desk.
[/i]
"Hello Mina. Good to see you." Truebridge greeted, almosting singing his greeting in the same tune that he had been humming in.

Yes, Lyra did not like stairs....and never will
Letting out a deep sigh, Lyra looked around better this time and noticed that there was only one person in the classroom already. A Ravenclaw , judging by her robe. Lyra walked towards a desk and placed her bag besides her. She said a "Hey" to the girl and placed her textbook on the table. When she looked up again she noticed the professor sitting underneath a strange orb (how could she have missed that?) "Good day Professor" she greeted and tilted her head to the side to look at the orb more carefully. It looked like a ...eye?
"Welcome Lyra." Ethan made a slight face that sort of meant I-wish-my-class-was-still-on-the-first-floor-too as well as you'll-get-used-to the-stairs-eventually.

She pasted on a fake smile that somewhat resembled her usual one and stopped slightly inside the door as she noticed the odd symbol made of the orbs....her mind went crazy with thoughts about what it could be...
She looked at the professor as she took a seat, "Professor that thing looks evil." she said with a ring to her voice and a twinkle in her eye...
"Evil, hmm?" He stopped humming and looked up at the symbol. "Interesting." He offered the Ravenclaw a wink as she sat down.

She hadn't felt the same since...that incident. She could barely sleep at night making it even worse as well. She probably looked terrible too. Sitting up straight, she looked around the room, noticing the orb thingy and the other early students. Smiling at them slightly, Evelyn sat back in her seat, glancing at the professor. "G'day professor." she said quietly, her voice cracking and sounding weak. 'Oh so very weak little one...' was all she heard in her mind; day and night.
Ethan shot a slightly puzzled glance at his very bright Slytherin student. His imagination probably, but she seemed out of sorts? Nah. Even if she was Ethan did not normally notice such things...

"Hello Arrick, good to see you." Truebridge greeted the Hufflepuff boy and went back to humming and tapping.

The girl loosly did up her tie and tilted her head at the board. Kaiyo was now professional, but to her, it definately looked like a blob in a tent.
"Morning Kaiyo." Truebridge eyed the piece of toast with the air of someone who had forgotten to have breakfast himself. Hmm. Hopefully he could concentrate.

She really hoped that Professor Truebridge wasn't a wolf lover. She didn't want to study History from a filthy-creatures-lover's view. That strange euphoric feeling filled her once again, making her warm.
Smiling dizzyly, she sat by one of the desks in the middle. Memories from the first meeting of WOLF swept through her mind, making her even more unfocused.
Truebridge raised one eyebrow as another apparently unfit Slytherin arrived. Maybe he should hold his next class whilest running around the perimetre of the school? You had to be fit if you wanted to be fast on your feet in the dueling arena and Zan was almost certain that even Kazimeriz would be puffing less coming up here.
Though, you know, he hoped that wouldn't happen.

Iris looked back to the symbol on the board. The deathly Hallows? ... why is that so familiar? ... Oh yeah! Iris raised her hand, "I don't know what the Deathly Hallows is, but isn't the symbol meant to represent something? ... Three somethings ... that together ... Together they make the person in posession of them ... like ... invincable or something? ... " Iris frowned at herself. That sounded so stupid. But it made sense to her, so she hoped that it made sense to Truebridge, too.
Satine felt like herself for a few moments being a good student...she shot her hand into the air, "Professor the Deathly Hallows were once thought to be a fairy tale, but during the Potter Trials and Triumphs they came to be true....isn't it a wand, an invisibility cloak and a ring or something like that..." she said enthusiastically but as soon as her statement was done she sunk back down into her nonchalant self.
"Well professor" Damon said raising his hand "They appear to mean 3 different objects all different in some way from what ive seen. They can do things that a wizard would want to know more about and see for themselves. They have properties i think of things that are powerful" Damon continued to think on the symbol. Damon wanted to make sure he could sit for as long as he did and was eager to learn.
Herminny quickly raised her hand as soon as the question was assled and answered saying, "The Deathly Hallows came from what say is a fairy tale but but I belive regardless of where they came from it has been proven they exist even though no one knows where they are today. The Deathly Hallows are the Invisiblity cloak that never fades, the resurection stone, and the elder wand.".
Anya raised her hand quickly. "There are three Deathly Hallows. I'm not sure if I remember the exact names, but I know what they are. There's a wand, called the Elder wand, I think. A stone that can bring dead people back to life, but only to a sort of half life, like a zombie or a ghost. And there is also an Invisiblity Cloak, also, I think," she said.
Plymouth Morgan was a total slacker this term. He'd so rarely been out of the top five in points since he'd started here at Hogwarts, and now... well, he sucked. He'd wandered into the History lesson, not bothered that it was an underclassman class.
He raised his hand. "I've heard a story or two, but to ME, it kind of looks like my tent. I like to camp, sir. Though, to date, that's not been deathly. No deathly hallows in my tent."

Evelyn jumped slightly when a girl's hand shot to the air after the professor spoke about...something...she couldn't remember. Taking a closer look, she recognized the girl as a ravenclaw she had seen around. 'Didn't she used to have purple hair?' Evelyn thought, looking at the older girl's now red hair. 'Huh.'
Calming down, since she was even more jumpy then usual now, she stared at the symbol that she guessed they were all discussing . 'Looks like a triangle with a circle in it.' she thought, fighting to keep her eyes open. Listening to the others though, she heard it had something to do with a 'Deathly Hallows' or something which has to do with a cloak, stone, and wand. 'An invisibility cloak. That's interesting though...'
"You've all noticed the symbol on the board, and indeed as Rafe said it represents the Deathly Hallows. What are the Deathly Hallows? It is alright if you don't know the answer, you are welcome to guess what they are based on what the symbol looks like to you."
"The Deathly Hallows are three articles given to three brothers by Death himself," Matheu said. "Each one recieved the article that granted their wish: immortality in the form of a stone, power in the form of a wand, and invisibility in the form of a cloak. But Death had a price with his gifts. After their use, each brother had somehow died from his gift; except for the third brother who hid from Death in his cloak."

Marie looked at the symbol on the board again trying to remember what she had heard about it before. Raising her hand she said "Professor I believe that symbol represents three different things. I believe they are a cloak, a wand and a stone of some sort." She tried remembering what the 3 items were used for but had no luck, so she sat there waiting for the professor to tell them.
"Hello Mina. Good to see you." Truebridge greeted, almosting singing his greeting in the same tune that he had been humming in.
"Hello Kay."
He stopped tapping and looked around.
"You've all noticed the symbol on the board, and indeed as Rafe said it represents the Deathly Hallows. What are the Deathly Hallows? It is alright if you don't know the answer, you are welcome to guess what they are based on what the symbol looks like to you."
Kay put her hand up to answer. "Professor, The Deathly Hollows are a grouping of three. There is a Elder Wand, Invisibility Cloak, and a Stone out of the Riddles Ring. All three of these came from Death himself, so the store goes. Harry Potter was the last one to have all three, together." Kay finished hoping she hadn't said to much.
"That is what people believe, it is a part of the myth." Truebridge nodded in agreement.

"They are still part of a fairy tale. Some of you third and fourth year students may recall that we discussed the Tales of Beedle the Bard a few terms back and the Hallows feature in one of those stories. However you are right about the items, though the third one was the stone within the ring rather than the ring itself."

The Tale of the Three Brothers
Quote:
The Tale of the Three Brothers Premise:
Three brothers, upon having a brief encounter with Death, each receive a specific prize as a reward for cheating Death. Main Characters:
Antioch, Cadmus, and Ignotus Peverell and Death
Plot:
Antioch, Cadmus, and Ignotus Peverell, upon traveling the world together, happen upon a river known to have taken many lives.
The three brothers conjure a bridge over the water, angering Death and causing it to step in their paths.
Death offers the three brothers a reward for cheating their deaths. Antioch chooses a wand which will forever cause him duelling victory, Cadmus chooses a stone with can resurrect the dead, and Ignotus, the only one thinking in a non-selfish manner, simply wishes to leave Death. He receives an Invisibility Cloak.
Antioch duels an enemy and ends up killing him. His Elder Wand is stolen by a man who slits his throat.
Cadmus resurrects his lover, who is saddened and wishes to return to the world of the dead. Cadmus kills himself to return with her.
Ignotus lives a long and happy life by using the Invisibility Cloak that he eventually passes on to his son.
Conclusion:
Antioch and Cadmus, because they wished for items that will only serve them, ended up living a short life and surrendering to Death.
Ignotus, because he was so unselfish and simply wished to not tempt death and fate, lived to be an old man. When he died, he left the world as Death's equal.

Summary of the Lesson's in the tale of The three brothers
Death is inevitable. You can try all sorts of tricks and traps, but in the end, death is going to be the victor.
Bragging is bad. The brother with the wand bragged about it far too much, and he was killed.
Don't fear death.
You can't bring people back from the dead, as much as you might want to.
Don't get greedy. enjoy the time you have, and don't endeavour to extend it just because you're afraid of what comes next or just because you think it's possible to get it.
Dont covet what you can't have.
Quit while your ahead

Herminny quickly copied down the notes the professor put on the board then quickly raised her hand to answer the question at hand saying, "The symbol on the 3d board represents the three items in that the triangle represents the invisibility cloak covering the line down the middle represents the elder wand, and the circle represents the resurection stone.".

'I have to copy all of that?!' Evelyn thought, staring wide-eyed at the words, though was interested on how they appeared like that which she thought was cool. Sighing, she took out her own quill and ink and started writing, glancing up at the professor when he asked a question and then letting her gaze fall tiredly onto the symbol he was referring to.
Raising her hand, she spoke in a quiet voice so she wouldn't sound so awful. "Each shape could represent one of the three hallows." she said, pausing for a moment to swallow and try to rehydrate her throat. "Like the line down the middle could represent the wand everyone is talking about, and the circle and triangle for the stone and cloak." Hopefully that answered part of the question.
Plymouth stared at the notes. Man. Good thing he was just "auditing" class today. He'd doodled the symbol onto his notes several times, but he'd just have to get someone to give him the notes later. He couldn't write and listen and think all at once!
He grinned, knowing that Professor T was a cool ole duck. He was like Lawson - kind of mean on the exterior, but DEFINITELY loved Plymouth down deep.
"Aye yay, Captain. My apologies. It happens, though, you know?" Sure he did. "Give me the task, Professor T. Want me to SPY on Krazy Kazi like Cope spied on you?" Plymouth STILL couldn't believe Kazi chose COPERNICUS over PLYMOUTH as a SPY.
While he waited for the task, he jotted down a few notes (read: drew the symbol about 20 more times in varying sizes and colors).

The Deathly Hallow That's where she remembered seeing that symbol. She vaguely remembered her brothers talking about them. Nothing a little girl should be interested in they told her. Yet, she still remembered it.
Jotting down the symbol and all the notes given. That was really a lot to write too. Good things there was extra parchment already there. After finishing up with the notes she raised her hand again. "The ring is represented by the circle in the center. The straight line is for the wand and the triangle that encompasses the circle and line is representative of the cloak."
"Professor, each part of the symbol stands for one of the Hollows. The triangle is the invisibility cloak, the circle is the resurection stone, and the line in the middle is the elder wand." Kay stated

'How does that symol on that board represent a wand, a cloak, and a stone?'"Well I guess the line in the middle could be the wand and the cirlcle could be a stone although I'm not sure about the triangle. I'm assuming it would be the cape but it doesn't look like a cape to me." Plymouth stared at the notes.
"No. I do not need you to spy on Kazimeriz." Ethan answered quite matter-of-factly. But SEE he had reason to be bloody paranoid. That old man...
"Actually, I'm just kind of hungry, I missed breakfast since I got distracted checking the hourglasses..."
was that a smirk he shot around at the Slytherin students present? No... couldn't be. Professor Truebridge was not one to show favouritism...
"Perhaps you could head off to the kitchen, see about getting me something? No pie."
He cleared his throat and turned his attention to the class.
"Those of you who said the triangle is the cloak, the line is the wand and the circle is the stone are correct. We are going to touch briefly on the cloak and the stone, but our focus for this class is going to be the Elder wand. So, before we move on to the Elder wand, does anyone have anything they'd like to share about the cloak and the stone? What have you heard about them?"
Michelle quickly copied down the notes and raised her hand to answer the question. "Other invisibility cloaks wear off over time, but this particular one does not. It is also resistant to jinxes, hexes, and other spells that would harm normal invisibility cloaks."
Kay put her hand up to answer. "Professor, The resurection Stone was in a ring owned by Tom Riddles mother. the stone came from Cadmus Peverell. The cloak was hands down from father to son for a long time. It started with Ignotus Peverell and ended up in the Potter family, Harry Potter is the last know owner." kay said to the Professor.
