| | HoM ADVANCED Lesson 1 (5th-7th years)
The observatory was empty. No cushions for the older students. No desks either.
Even all the astronomy equipment was gone.
Professor Truebridge was not there and the only thing of note within the circular room was a long, curving line which had been painted in an arc around approximately 3/4 of the tower floor. ooc: class will start shortly.
The following students are now taking ADVANCED History of Magic (and therefore are allowed to post in this class):
Kiri Starstalker, 4th Year (Antarctica!)
Raiden Kururugi, 4th Year (Ameh)
Nikki Finn, 4th Year (hermione9495) |

Hogwarts RPG Name: November {Noe} Franze First Year | Brain Twin | MASTAH ASHURRII | Reisdent PokeNerd | Digifangirl How, pray tell, was this one harder? Issy stared at the Professor, her brows twisted.
Without even giving it a second thought, Issy took one step to the left, to be back at the beginning.
Not at all. No, blood-status should never matter. She couldn't help but conjure up memories from primary school, when they'd briefly skimmed over the holocaust. So much history for them to have covered, but this one was the one she chose to study on her own. This always reminded her of the wizard and muggle blood feud. Aryan versus everything else, with Jews and gypsies, handicaps and mentally ill at the muggle-born spectrum and blonde hair and blue eyes at the pureblood end.
Everyone knew how that had ended, after all.
Just because one had different blood did not make them any less important than anyone else. Issy's eyes trained towards Willow, who had been at the other end of the line the whole time. Was Willow any better than her? Or Daphne or The Succubus or Copernicus or Plymouth?
What really mattered, she told herself, was intelligence, friendliness, and capability. Blood should never matter for jobs, for "status", for importance, for anything.
Issy firmly stood at the left end of the line, holding her chin high.
Blood status should matter nothing. |

| Wowza! Well, well, well.
For the first time since Truebridge had started to ask questions about blood status, Willow actually think about before making any kind of movement - or no movement at all.
If anyone asked her in front of her father if it was important, the seventeen year old would instantly say 'Most definitely, yes.'
But right now ... It was something the girl really had to think about.
Was her Blood status important to her? Did it matter? Certainly, it shouldn't matter because in the end they were all human beings and stuff and equals, supposedly even if she did think she was better than a loooot of people and all that ...
She did enjoy being a pureblood, though, and all the benefits that came with it.
Which is why the Ravenclaw took a couple steps towards the middle.

Somewhere in the awkward and tense silence in the room, only interrupted by a few voices it seemed, Plymouth had made his way towards the area she shared with Willow, Celandine, and a few others. At Professor Truebridge's new question, Daphne couldn't help but send an accusatory glare his way even if it was just briefly. Yes, she was well aware he was only doing his job as a Professor and teaching a lesson, and he did give her the option of sitting this one out; metaphorically speaking.
She took two steps towards the middle but left it at that. Actually, if she thought about it, blood status did matter to her. Daphne couldn't help but think so. It was important. The idea had been hammered into her since she could comprehend speech.
Some beliefs, whether they were socially acceptable or not, were just inherited.

Cela watched her classmates move out of the corner of her eye and when she looked up and took a step...
Nobody would tell, right?
It was almost a desperate expression on her face as she slowly, slowly went to the opposite end of the line.
It shouldn't matter. It shouldn't.
But it did and if her parents knew that she thought it shoudn't...
That was the hardest question so far for Celandine for sure and she stared at her feet again, trying not to think about it all too much.

Seeing that she was already on the side that indicated 'shouldn't matter at all,' LouAnn did nothing but simply stand still. She didn't have to do any moving about, because the place where she'd been standing since the whole 'from your experience...' question was the place she would have moved to regardless of where she'd been before. She did shift her weight from her right leg to her left, though. That didn't change her response, but rather, in her eyes, concreted the fact that she was getting comfortable and staying put.

Fred raised his hand for the first time this class and aswered, "I don't think blood status should matter at all. I feel it's stupid to glorify someone based on there inherited status which is out of their control rather then who they are as people and their individual abilities which is in their control is stupid in my opinion.".

Rhea was positive about her answer for this question. It was nothing she had to think about. She moved to the extreme end of the line. It definitely should not matter at all.
If the person produced magic, surely there must have been some distant magical relatively, just maybe squid off springs for a few generations. She shrugged. Either way, it didn't matter...it shouldn't matter.

| YesJess! | Captain Goggles | Mama Badger | Eva's Soul Sister | An OG™ | It's all in the Numbers If anyone had asked Lena or Peter Denton whether blood status mattered, then they would - without hesitation - say it did. That blood was important and gave you a certain right. But yet, Dominic knew better than them. He didn't really have many friends to begin with, but he did look up to Ethan Truebridge - for instance. And if blood status mattered, then he wouldn't have done so. Nor would he have looked up to Professor Shackleton. Two of his favorite professors were NOT purebloods and yet he had stayed firmly on the side that in personal experience it mattered.
Taking a step back from the line at this next question, Dominic really wondered if he should just sit this one out. Again he could hear Lena whispering in his ear, telling him that it mattered. But Truebridge had asked in his opinion. Not Lena's or anyone else's. But in the mind of Dominic Denton, did blood status matter? Should it?
No. He knew that with all his heart and mind that it should not matter. Sighing, the Head Boy made his way towards the left side of the line. If Lena ever knew . . . then she'd have to get over it. It was a new world out there.

| Help us we're a bunch of letters stuck in this box !! Constantino didn't like these ethical quandaries.
He himself had been raised by his Uncle Gary, who never cared to impart Tino's biological heritage, and in fact had never even indicated whether he was a wizard himself. Tino had long ago learned that his questions would never be answered. Pureblood, muggle; his parents could have been either. Tino wouldn't have cared if they were cannibals. He just wanted to know them.
With this thought in mind, Tino left the line and crossed the room. He climbed up into the window sill and folded his arms. "People are stupid," he announced suddenly. "I'm a centaur."

Issy turned her head in the direction of the voice to find Tino... in the window sill? She blinked before tipping her head to the side, one brow inquiringly climbing into her fringe.
"Tino. If you are a Centaur, first off, why are you wearing clothes, eh?" Her hands moved to her hips and her mouth scrunched, trying to fight a smile. Honestly, at this point, did she blame him?
Hardly.
Ethics had not been anywhere on her time table. However, Tino had another point, too. People were stupid. Why were they even having this discussion, anyway? Opinions and ethics were not a criteria of a History of Magic class and while, at first, this had been fun, now it no longer was. She knew that they were all judging each other. No one was going to admit it, but everyone was judging everyone.
At this end, everyone was looking down the end opposite them, thinking ill that anyone could honestly think that blood should matter and those at the other end probably thought badly of those who thought it ought not matter. Maybe they thought they were wusses for thinking this, or jealous for their lack of "status".
Hmph. Issy didn't like this anymore. No longer was it fun.
Leaning against the wall, Issy reached up and patted Tino's foot. There, there monkey-Centaur boy. He had the right idea. |

No. It should never matter. Having started almost next to the pureblood, Sabrina had moved a considerable distance away from them already. She thought the whole blood status idea was pathetic, to be perfectly honest. They were all humans, magical or not. Just like she thought werewolves were humans with a ... genetic disorder.
When Sabrina saw Issy smile at her, she smiled back, the train trip running through her mind once again. At least on this topic they agreed. And the blonde stepped off with her friend.
Sabrina giggled when a boy said humans were stupid and that he was a centaur. In some situations, she would actually agree with him. THIS being one of them. |

It was a bit disconcerting to discover just how much being a pureblood mattered to his friends. Raiden had started out on the opposite side, with the rest of the pureblood students, but... he'd quickly ended up on the other side, while his friends... hadn't. This last question, however, there was no other answer for to him.
With a quick glance at Daphne Hopton, Raiden moved to the end of the line, putting himself near the likes of Jack and Copernicus Kettleburn... and Celandine. |

"I wonder if any of you are surprised at where you see your classmates chose to stand for those questions. There wasn't any pattern really was there? You certainly can't judge by house or by upbringing or by experience where someone will end up. That being said, for those of you who were brave enough to stand in some of the more difficult spots, thank you." Ethan glanced at Tino and shrugged, not at all concerned at the boy's apparent lack of participation. By saying he was a 'centaur' and refusing to stand on the line he was in fact participating anyway.
Certainly he broke the building tension.
"I suppose somewhere comfortable to sit might be nice." As Ethan said this a huge pile of cushions and beanbags appeared in the centre of the room.
"Because now that you are all thinking, we are going to get back to the topic at hand. We briefly talked about the associations of Slytherin house and the Dark Arts was mentioned. So now we are going to talk about Dark Wizards. Take a seat and tell me, who are some famous dark witches, wizards and warlocks in wizarding history?"

Hogwarts RPG Name: Rishi Kapoor First Year | Film Addict! | ♥ Suraj Sharma ♥| TIGRESS! It wasn't until just now that Lucy began noticing the sudden reactions and looks between other people. Oh, boy. This looked as if it were about to get nasty. Some might have seen themselves as better and much more important than others, while others, like herself, could honestly give a rat's fart about what blood status a person was, just that they were good at heart. She thought she had noticed a few people of her own house, and some of whom she thought were tolerant of others go into the "Very important" section. Not mention, friends separated from friends. Now the judging became obvious, and possible reasons rickety-blahblahs in friendships becoming obvious. This was another reason why Lucy never engaged herself in friendship. People were biased, prejudiced, and horrible people. It was only their opinion they cared about, whether or not Lucy's opinion agreed with their own. they never thought to try and understand the other side of life.
Shaking her head out of these thoughts at she listened to the teacher, she took a seat on a cushion and began pondering the question that was being asked. Hmm...suddenly a name shot up into her memory and she raised her hand. "How about Morgan le Fay?" she said. |
