"Hehe. Okay, Daphadil. Whatever you want." Plymouth nodnodnodded - then did a "dismount" from the tightrope. It was a perfect ten landing, no doubts. He let Daphne lead him over near Willy. Quote:
Plymouth wanted to say LOTS of things! He always had things to say. Problem was choosing ... Hmmm. "Hey Professor! I want to say that you're looking very cool. I wish I'd remembered to bring shades like you. hehe. And I like what you've done to the place! You know, sometimes, less really is more." Plymouth let go of Daphne's hand and plopped down on the floor. He pat the space next to him for her to join him. Maybe they could be partners. |
Fred watched as the professor came into the classroom amd explained a lot of why they were in the Astronomy Tower which made the Asstronomy professor seem likr a biggot but whatever. He sitll had one question though so he faised his hand and asked, "Is there a particular reason there is a arc painted on the ground? Does it petain to this lesson in anyway?". |
Audio, having no questions, just leaned against the wall as he waited for class to continue. This seemed... interesting. He looked around the room at all of the classmates, recognizing a few from a few run ins around the castle- but didn't really bother to say hi as they had their own friends to talk to. He looked back to the teacher. |
Hmmm, with this all being asked, Issy pursed her lips and stuck her own hand in the air. "While Plymouth's... er.... appreciation of the empty room is lovely and all," she began, "may I ask why there is nothing in here but the arc and our bodies?" Because. Really. That was odd. Couldn't they at least have cushions? Please? |
Nikkis attention turned as the probably professor entered the classroom and began explaining why classes were being held up in the observatory. Well the new obsevatory teacher sounded a little pushy and bossy to her. But I guess she couldn't really control where all the teachers offices and classes were being held. When the professor asked if they had any questions, Nikki looked around at the others and then back at the professor. She had no questions so she remained quiet. |
Yes. Most definitely, sometimes less was more. For example, less spoken words coming from you, please. Less. Much less, Plymouth Morgan. Daphne pressed her lips together as she shook her head at Plymouth and decided to stand by Willow's other side seeing as that girl from the feast was with Kovac already. What. Was. Her. Name? Was Daphne Hopton supposed to know this information already? |
SPOILER!!: Connah LouAnn had just gotten distracted with watching Daphne interact with some Ravenclaw boy, when the door to the Observatory opened again, revealing the---professor? Upon seeing the man's cooler than cool shades, she briefly wondered if he was indeed the professor or perhaps some sort of guest to the school. LouAnn had no clue what the History of Magic professor even looked like, so she just watched and listened and waited to see what would happen. As the man talked, LouAnn picked up on the fact that yes, he was actually the History of Magic professor, but no, this was indeed not his usual classroom of choice. Apparently some Borr man---who'd taught here when LouAnn was a first year at a different school---had taken over his usual headquarters. Was that even allowed? Could some new guy really come in and kick another professor out of his office? Apparently so. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't really think of any questions for the professor. The only one she could think of---What's with the line?---had already been asked. She shifted her weight from one leg to the other and just...well, listened. It would've been nice to at least come up with something intelligent to ask, but she guessed "Hey, what's your name?" wouldn't really go over too well. |
Chris was stting close by to LouAnn and the others when Professor Truebridge came in explaining that Professor Borr was taking Truebridge's office and all that stuff. He thought to himself, him this Borr seems like he will be a piece of work. He had heard plenty of stories. He couldn't think of any questions to ask so he just waited for Truebridge to start the lesson. |
Torin listened as Professor Truebridge talked about some guy named Lord Boor. He raised his brow, not really getting it, but it was okay he figured as long as he would still be able to stud his Astronomy up here. He didn't really have any questions though as someone beat him in asking why there was a line on the floor. So he just stood there waiting. |

Ethan slid his shades onto his head and offered a wink for Copernicus, but otherwise his expression did not change. Quote:

"This lesson is going to be about Dark Wizards and we will touch on pureblood elitism too. I ask for all of you, regardless of your opinions on such things, to keep an open mind and be respectful of what others have to say." |
Dark wizards, not bad. Nikki wasn't bad at History of Magic but she wasn't the best. She was just a little above the middle, if there was a middle... Nikki sighed, so wanting to sit down on cushion, but obviously they would have to participate in an activity. Nikki stood, still silent, still waiting for the questions and stuff to come rolling out of the professors mouth. |

When he asked the class to please be respective to all others regarless of your opinions, Chris said "Yes sir." polietly. He didn't have a problem with muggle-borns and half-bloods even though he was pureblood he actually really liked them. |
...Pureblood elitism, eh? Once more, Evolette McKenna blinked. Well, her entire life was Pureblood elitism, but, she nodded her head, silently agreeing to keep an open mind, as the Professor had asked. Now, there was only time to wait, and see what exactly he was going to have them do. And while she waited, Evolette's blue eyes glanced over at Plymouth, who had just received his very own sunglasses. 5 galleons bet he was going to wear those through the whole lesson. |
Quote:
"Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet," Plymouth put his shades on immediately, then looked up to Daphne, then Willow. And where was... ah. Evolette McKenna. If anyone was going to appreciate Plymouth in his new stunna shades - it'd be Evolette McKenna. She got a wink, despite him having on shades and probably not being able to see it. "Thank Professor, T!" Ah. Pureblood elitism. Plymouth was glad for the shades because he couldn't help but LOOK Cela's way. "Are we going to chose sides, Professor?" Plymouth motioned to the line. Funny thing about the pureblood elitism - they drew a clear and defined line, too. You either were pureblood and invited over or you weren't. |
Hmmm. Pureblood elitism? Issy eyed the Professor for a moment, pursing her lips again. Hmm. An activity? Her eyes widened for a moment and glanced over to the line on the floor. Oh... oooooh? Were they going to be divvied up or something? This could actually be interesting. Her eyes slid to the side, glancing at Willow. Somehow, the smaller girl had the feeling that her friend may not totally enjoy this activity? Granted, Willow didn't seem the sort to really enjoy activities, after all. Ah, well. "Sounds fun!" she chirped. Open mind? She had that. This she could do. Yeah! YEAH! |
Berty Borr? HIIIIIIM again? The sixth year girl made no comment about the man as she continued to stand rather awkwardly, her left hand clutching her right arm. Pffft. Didn't like the stairs. Really? REALLY? But it'd be interesting. The change of locations might be a new experience. Though, honestly, Livvy didn't know how in Merlin's Beard the man was going to teach Astronomy without using telescopes at all. Pureblood elitism? Livvy hardly expected herself to say anything disrespectful about one's heritage. It was a highly touchy and sensitive subject and you don't normally go around cracking idiotic and rude jokes about it. But she just nodded her head and her eyes flickered over to Plymouth and his new snaaazzeh shades. At this, Livvy couldn't help but smile and shake her head as she turned her attention back to the Professor. |

Really. What was the point of even COMING to this class? Really? It would be like learning stuff at home except probably less painful. Still sitting on the ground, she frowned to herself and rubbed her forearms thoughtfully. |

It wasn't that LouAnn didn't want to learn about dark wizards, and it surely wasn't that she thought they should be learning about something else. No, no, LouAnn already had much respect for the professor standing before her, even if she'd never properly met him. When LouAnn heard the phrase 'dark wizard', though, she was automatically brought back to the reason she technically had no last name...to the reason she and her family hopped around from country to country to country ever so often. Still, though, she imagined the professor could teach her new things and show her new viewpoints that she'd never actually considered. Pureblood Elitism, on the other hand, was something LouAnn hadn't thought too much about at all before now. She was a pureblood witch, but...Pureblood Elitism? That'd be an interesting twist to think about. Too bad she didn't have a desk to sit in, because right about now, she'd be sitting back, getting comfortable, and preparing herself for what promised to be a pretty interesting discussion. |
Pureblood elitism, eh? Dominic knew all about that having grown up as a pureblood himself. Though even as a pureblood, that still didn't mean he supported dark wizards, or even the dark arts. Oh, Berty Borr was taking over Truebridge's office? Well that hardly seemed fair and the seventh year wondered slightly if perhaps this was the large man who'd been intimidating of the History professor in the Ink shop back in London. From the conversation, he did know that the large man was going to be at Hogwarts, but he didn't know what he'd be teaching. Whatever it was though, Dominic had decided already that he didn't like the man. |
"First of all, I would like to tell you all, that I myself am a halfblood, my parents were both halfbloods, each of them had a muggle parent. I was also sorted, when I attended Hogwarts as a student, as a Slytherin. Things have changed over the years, but there are still certain ideas and prejudiced opinion about Slytherin house and from many different angles. Anyone care to share some associations about Slytherins and the topic of this lesson? It doesn't have to be something you yourself believe." |
Quote:

Raising her hand, Issy began. Such an easy question. "Many associate Slytherin, as a snake, with deception, cunning, and often, evil. They think of Slytherins as dark and almost predatory. Conniving, manipulative, and cold. Selfish. People think that Slytherins do only for themself and the betterment of themselves." |
Copernicus raised his hand. "Most believe that since Salazar Slytherin was strongly in favor of maintaining pure bloodlines at Hogwarts and specifically in his house that only purebloods are welcome in that house. Obviously that isn't true." He shrugged, but his gaze drifted to the top of Cela's head. |
Evolette raised her hand. "There's one, that Purebloods are simply better than others because their bloodline has not been deluded by Muggles and the such, therefore, they are more important to the Wizarding world, and should be held in a higher regard. Which would be one of the reasons why Slytherin house, years ago, was only interested in having Purebloods. Only the best for the best." And just as the Professor had said, it wasn't her line of thinking exactly, but it was what she'd heard, and what she knew. |
Did she have any questions? Yes, Willow Kovac had one question, to be presice. Why was she surrounded by people? You'd think that because she was frowning and purposely located far away from the rest of the people, her classmates would instantly figure out that she preferred to be left alone. But she doubted Truebridge would want to hear that question simply because it had nothing to do with his class - which was about dark wizards and pureblood elitism. Trying to fight the smile that was appearing on her lips at the sight of Plymouth Morgan wearing shades and shrugging at Issy, for Willow had noticed the glance the short girl had given her, the seventh year turned to look at the professor again with an expression that could be interpreted as utterly bored or just plain indifferent, as she waited for the class to actually start. She doubted, however, that Truebridge would say something that she was NOT familiar with when it came to Pureblood Elitism. Oh. Question time. "As you pointed out, Professor, things have changed through the years when it comes to the Slytherin house. Certain people, however, still believe that only Purebloods belong in Slytherin, and that, therefore, Muggleborns are not welcome there.." Like her grandfather, yes. "That's clearly, though, not true." There WERE plenty of Muggleborns in Slytherin, after all. Right? Willow was sure of this. Too bad ... she didn't actually KNOW for certain seeing that the seventeen year old didn't know many people from that house. Or any other house, for that matter. |
