The tunnel leading from the Whomping Willow to the Shrieking shack is damp and dark though occasional patches of light peek through from some unknown source. Once you get your footing you realize the path beneath the tree is surprisingly flat, or it would be if it weren’t strewn with debris of some sort. Wait a minute, is that a potions textbook? And that there, it’s a rollerskate. A muddy looking garden gnome with cracks through the ceramic peeks out from a wall of dirt. There are all sorts of things here if you look closely. Of course you’ll need some light if you want to explore the tunnel.

Mmm. And you DO want to. Really. The Willow is Whomping out there, quite annoyed at all the little students who are plundering its depths.

What is that slithering sound? Is there something breathing up there? The ceiling of the tunnel is low and covered in moss and if you look ahead, well there is nothing to see except more tunnel. It seems to go on forever....

But there! Thats the end of the tunnel. Go on into the shack.

ooc: be creative as you RP making your way through the tunnel. A link will appear in this first post ~~when we are amused enough~~ once everyone has made their way through the tunnel.

Mina watched the spiders catiously. They weren't harming her at the moment, but that didn't mean they wouldn't in the future. She could feel their eyes on her and that alone creeped her out. Turning to Virgi, she shrugged. "Um, I'm not sure. Do you think I'll get to explore the shack? I've always wanted to see what was inside it." She needed to keep her mind off the spiders and rambling seemed to be an answer.

Just keep talking. Don't think about the icky, spiders with their hairy little legs eyeing you. Her inner voices weren't at ALL helping now, were they.

Grabbing her wand tightly, she moved on. The tunnel had to end eventually, right?

The fourth year shook his head in disappointment, and took a step forward. But he had that feeling someone was ... watching or following him. It HAD to be the bug, it just HADDD to be.

He raised his wand again, and began to look for the bug once more. He was lucky, this time round, and spotted it, a little way off from where it had initially been. "I'mma gonna name you," he told the bug with a nod. "You are now..." he glanced around, as if his surroundings could come up with a name, to make things easier for him. Oh waittt, he had inspiration now! LOTS of it. "Trubury Bananasticks Goatpink Popcorn. The Second."

Yes, that sounded awesome enough. It was them two professors who had inspired the first name, but the rest was his own, rather splendid work. He was PROUD of himself for it!

Okay, so now that that creepy little spider was probably flying right as someone, Destiny could trek on. Her nose hurt. That beach ball hit her hard. Rubbing her nose, Destiny kept walking. But what, where was Evelyn? 'Evelyn? Evelyn? Evelyn?' 'Heehee, that's an echo.'

Destiny decided to stop and wait for her friend. That would be bad if Evelyn decided not to come in the tunnel. She stood and waited against a wall and would shine her wand in everyone as they walked by. None of them seemed to be her. Destiny was just about to call for her again when a hand had touched her shoulder. 'Evelyn?' she asked as she turned around to face her. No one was there, but the hand was still on her. Shining her wand on her shoulder, Destiny saw whose hand it was. Well it wasn't a hand at all..

'Snake?' Destiny did not like snakes. Nope, not at all. Really weird being scared of snakes being a Slytherin and all. Buuuut that's not important right now. A snake was on her shoulder! 'Snake! Snake! Snake!' There was that echo again. Grabbing the snake by it tail, Destiny pulled it off of her and threw it to the ground and started running towards the entrance. She had to find Evelyn..

Hearing her name being called like a bazillion times... Evelyn stopped in her tracks for a moment, trying to see down the tunnel and to whoever called her. The voice that spoke sounded all weird in the tunnel and she couldn't recognize whose it was. But, it was still too dark, and she could only make out the really faint glow of light at the end, if that was even the end of the tunnel. Could have just been the other students. Frowning, she looked down to the ground again to make sure she wasn't tripping on anything, but jumped out of her skin when another echo of words came slamming over to her.

"Snake?" she whispered, glancing up and trying to see through the dark for the second time. 'Ugh, what am I doing? Couldn't see the first time...' Letting out a huge sigh, she started forward again, hoping that she would catch up with the others soon, when she heard the footsteps. Loud footsteps. Loud and fast. Okay, that was creeping her out just a bit. Raising her wand higher, Evelyn could see another light moving rather quickly in the distance, becoming larger and brighter as it came closer. "What?" Squinting her eyes, she could finally see the outline of someone running... "Destiny?"

Fyo turned round as the word "snake" echoed round rather mysteriously, but saw nothing. He only caught the sound of running footsteps and, with a shrug, he turned back to his pretty new friend.

The bug, of course.

But it wasn't a bug, any longer. Not a plain one, anyway. Because now it had a name -- a PROPER name. He stepped closer to the wall, and decided that the spotted bug was definitely a ladybird - he had seen enough of those to recognize one, even in partial darkness. "You're an arthropod," he told "Trubury Bananasticks Goatpink Popcorn. The Second, of course. "Soo youuu have an exoskeleton, a segmented body and jointed appendages. Plus, you have -" his eyes widened, because the bug had begun to creep away! *GASP* It was NOT interested in the AWESOME, oh-so-important knowledge Fyo possessed about .... well, insects.

"Bad Trubury Bananasticks Goatpink Popcorn!" he scolded lightly. He couldn't raise his voice, of course, because that might scare the bug away, and that would be horrible. "Bad Bananabury - I mean, Trubury - I mean -"

"The Second," he said, skipping the rest of the name, and cutting to the end of it. Because that was ... easier?

Tunnel!!

Shumeeta Leckter grinned as she stepped into it. The tomboy's spiky violet hair stuck up in all sorts of odd directions but she was generally happy to be here. It was like a mini-adventure!!! A one-in-a-million chance!!!

She passed Fyo on her way and poked him in the ribs. "What's with the goat talk boy?" she asked him. "You seriously thinking of starting a farm where you'll raise bananas?" That would be something.

"No way!" he said, giving a thorough shake of his head. "Why would I want to start a farm?" Not that that was a bad idea. A farm meant easy access to dairy butter, and dairy butter was delicious. Fyo wondered if Trubury Bananasticks Goatpink Popcorn - the Second, of course - would like a bit of it. But he wasn't too sure. "As you can witness, Violet, I have taken out some time to name this ... most delightful ladybird."

Did that sound formal enough? Fyo hoped Trubury Bananasticks Goatpink Popcorn would like his ... well, it wasn't a speech, but it was certainly a bit of formal talk. That could qualify as nice, too, could it not?

He was hungry.

Destiny tried to stop when she heard her name. If only she would have stopped two seconds earlier, she would have never stepped right onto the shoe with wheels. Now lying on her back, Destiny raised her lit wand. 'Evelyn!?' Thank Merlin she found her! 'I found you!'

Destiny decided just to lay there for a minute, not caring how dirty she got. She had to catch her breath, and she might as well tell Evelyn why she was running in the first place. 'There was a snake on me. A really big snake. It was this big.' She showed Evelyn how big it was, totally exaggerating.

She had scared WHAT? Honestly what was Fyo doin' here? That boy had named a ladybird and that was bad enough. But to name it something like ..... why she couldn't even remember the name he had said an' he had spoken it out loud only a few seconds ago!

"Cut it out," she said irritably, nearly tripping over something in the dark. "Stop tryin' to sound so formal an' dun call me Violet." It was a reference to her violet hair - the result of an 'incident' - and she hated when anyone brought it up. "Now if you will excuse me, I have a tunnel to have mini-adventures in. Good day to you."

'Fine, I'm fine.' The nice dirt had made her fall not so bad. And falling was definitely much better than having a creepy, slithering, hissing snake on you. Sitting up, Destiny saw what Evelyn was talking about. 'A shoe with wheels? There are two of them?' Who would need shoes with wheels when you could get places faster on a broom? Pssssh.

'Show you?' Destiny asked taking Evelyn's helping hand. 'You want me to show you the snake that tried to eat me!?' Was Evelyn crazy? Destiny didn't want to find that snake. She probably couldn't even find it anyway. How far did she run? Maybe if she could find that creepy, stalker spider she could find the snake. 'Well I came from that way.' And she started off in the direction she came, making sure to stomp her feet extra loudly to try to scare off that snake.

"Good day to you, too," Fyo said, but he grinned as he watched her walk off, and finally turned round to look for Trubury Bananasticks Goatpink Popcorn, the Second, once more. Shumeeta was a good friend, even if she was ... such a tomboy. Such a fierce tomboy, at times, to be more precise.

Now where was THE SECOND?

Somewhere around, Fyo had no doubt. Wand raised high, he scanned the wall once more, until he spotted the little bug. "You wanna go back with me?" he asked it brightly and, when the bug did not respond, chose to take that as its consent. "I have to go right now," he informed Trubury Bananasticks Goatpink Popcorn. The Second, of course. "But I will be back for you. Probably once this lesson is over, and we have to head back and all. So don't go away, alright? 'Cause you're real hard to find in the dark."

Now that that was done... he could get a MOVE ON!

Final-LEHH.

The fourth year had only taken a few more steps, when his foot struck something a bit hard. Well, not his foot, his shoe. He bent down, lowered is wand to see it better, and realized it was ... an orb of some sort.

Time for a better look at the thing on the ground.

Cela slipped into the tunnel behind most of the class, though since she wanted her wand free she cast a ball of light to hold in her hand, mentally thanking the old transfig professor for that particular lesson. Ooooerr! There were interesting things in here! Celandine tugged a few rollerskates free from the debris and after checking they were free from spiders and stuff, she switched them with her shoes. She rolled her way along the tunnel which was surprisingly smooth.

There were spiders dangling everywhere! Someone ahead must have startled them! Celandine was glad she had her wand free, she cast Arania Exumai and continued roll-trotting along the length of the tunnel, her little light held up so she could see.

"Spiders." she said in a faint whisper, pausing in her step and staying as still as possible, not ever breathing. A shiver went down her spine when she thought how close she was to them, and it felt like they were ALL watching her. 'Maybe that snake will kill them...' she thought, suddenly hearing a faint noise behind her. What was that? Something rolling?

Shrugging it off, Evelyn grabbed Destiny's hand and started running. "Show me the snake!" she yelled, wanting to get away from the spiders as soon as possible. 'Stupid spiders...'

Destiny was too busy staring at the girl to realize how close she was to the wall. Her wand must have got caught in a hole or something, making Destiny lose grip of it. 'Wait I dropped my wand!' Freeing herself from Evelyn's grip, Destiny went over and reached for her wand. And as soon as she went to grab it, she saw it. The big, huge, people eating snake! 'Evelyn! Save yourself! Its going to eat me!' she yelled as she slowly backed away from the vicious snake, and awaited her doom..

Though when Destiny's hand slipped loose when she stopped, Evelyn slowed down to a walk, breathing in deeply to try and keep her heart beat down, she stared everywhere but the ceiling of the tunnel. She could feel them crawling on the walls as if they were crawling on her skin, making her shiver and rub her arms.

Cautiously moving forward, she lowered her wand so the light shined on the ground, revealing the 'vicious and ginormous' snake. Awww, it was puurrrrdy! "That's it?" she asked, raising a brow at Destiny's overreaction. She knew what kind of snake it was of course; completely harmless and non poisonous. Smiling, Evelyn bent down, grabbing the snake close to its head with her left hand, and awkwardly holding the middle of it with her wand hand. "It's harmless. See?" she showed Destiny the snake, but did not move it any closer to the girl. She didn't want her to faint or anything.

Well, the snake would definitely keep her mind off of the spiders for the rest of the tunnel walk. "C'mon. Lets go." she gestured to keep walking, seeing another light in the distance from where they came. For a moment, Evelyn thought she was the last one that came in the tunnel. 'Must've missed a few people while ~~panicking~~ running.'

Well, the snake would definitely keep her mind off of the spiders for the rest of the tunnel walk. "C'mon. Lets go." she gestured to keep walking, seeing another light in the distance from where they came. For a moment, Evelyn thought she was the last one that came in the tunnel. 'Must've missed a few people while ~~panicking~~ running.'

'Yes that's it! Look at it! Its gonna eat me!' Destiny used her foot to pull the wand closer to her, so if the snake attacked, her shoes would protect her feet.

Destiny's mouth hung open when Evelyn went over and picked up the snake. She picked it up like it wasn't just about to eat someone! 'Harmless? We'll see how harmless it is when it wraps around your arms! And don't think I'm pulling it off of you, nope, nope, nope!'

Was Evelyn going to carry that snake the whole way? 'Are you keeping that!?' No way! Destiny was not going to sleep in the dorms with a wild, vicious snake up there. She had helped someone find a missing snake already, she did not want to do it again. 'Looks like I'll sleep in the common room..' Unless the snake finds its way down there. 'I'll sleep with the HufflePuffs.'

Destiny took one last look at the snake in Evelyn's hands. 'Hmmph, it looks like a Gryffindor.' She walked a couple feet ahead of Evelyn. She didn't want to get any closer to that snake..

"Sure!" she smiled happily, looking at the snake. "Why not?" She did want a snake in the first place before she came to school, but Josh convinced her to get an owl instead since they were all 'helpful' and such. 'Yea, great help No-Name is.' Rolling her eyes at the thought of her crazy little demon owl, she continued to walk while laughing at Destiny's comment on the snake looking like a Gryffindor.

Staring at the snake, looking at the colors, she supposed it did look kind like a Gryffindor. Well wasn't that a thought. A Gryffindor snake. Pausing in her step, Evelyn looked up and watched Destiny walk in front of her. 'Wonder what Josh would think of that. A Gryffindor snake...two words that definitely don't go together, but works so well.' Chuckling, she let go of the snakes head, letting it slither up her arm before catching up to Destiny. How long was this tunnel anyway!? Went on forever...

Chelle stopped dead in her tracks as she thought she heard voices. She was sure they were pieces of her imagination too, but they seemed to be getting louder every moment. It is possible that there are others here, beside me! I mean, I'm not the only one attending the lesson, am I?

`Snake!'

`That's it!'

`Sure.....'

Okay, now she was sure there were other people. Thast seemed to be a lot better than the feeling of being alone in this dark, damp, cold and SCARY tunnel. Chelle's mood lightened up and she decided to call out, just to see whether anyone she knew was here.

`Hey!! It's Michelle here, anyone? I'm really scared...'
Her voice echoed in the tunnel.

Evelyn ran up to Destiny when she heard someone yelling and that they were scared. "Wait, wait wait." she muttered, stopping Destiny by the arm. Someone knew they were there but didn't know who they were! Excellent! "Nox." she muttered, extinguishing the light from her wand. Before the light went completely out, she gave her Slytherin friend a mischievous smirk, pointing down the tunnel.

The ground was flat so they wouldn't trip on anything, and she had a feeling that no other little shoes or books would be down this far anymore. The only thing she could hear at the moment was the sound of breathing, some water dripping from somewhere, and the hissing of the snake on her arm. The snake... Oo good idea.

'Huh?' Wait for what? More snakes? Destiny was just about to ask, but she heard someone. Someone by the name of Michelle. Did she know the girl? Just before Evelyn turned off her light, Destiny caught a glimpse of her smirk. The same smirk that got them in trouble with Lawson. Heehee.

'Nox.' And now Destiny and Evelyn were surrounded by darkness, except for the distant hints of light further down the tunnel. 'Use the snake.' Perfect idea, plus the snake would be further away from Destiny, which was good.

Of course she was going to use the snake! Pssh...Didn't have to mention it. Ah well, at least their minds were on the same track. Watching Destiny's light go out, enveloping them into complete darkness, she blinked a few times to get used to the dark. 'Okay, so the closest light to us is probably the one that is scared.' she thought, trying to figure out which light was closer. Probably the one that was the biggest...right?

Whatever. Taking Destiny's arm, or at least trying to find it first, and when she did, she tugged the girl along with her so she knew she was moving. As they moved forward, one of the lights seem to be becoming bigger, which was good, meaning that the whoever was the person creating the light was sure in for a treat...*teehee*

Silently as she could, Evelyn made her way closer to the person, which she now saw was a girl, first year probably too. Perfect. 'Hope she likes snakes.' Stopping just before the light hit them, Evelyn unwound the snake from her arm, bundling it up gently in her hands before tossing it into the light and right in front of the girl. 'Surprise, surprise.'

She would finish making more notes when they came back. It looked like they were close but who was she to judge.

Mina's eyes danced from the light to spiders. They still hadn't done anything to her, but she still had the feeling they might strike at any moment. Looking at one of the spiders, intensely she pointed her wand at it. "You better not even think about it. I am bigger than you." Like she was really a threat or something. Turning attention back to Virgi, she slowly moved on. "Don't you think the blood would be gone by now, I mean didn't that happen over seventy years ago?"

The gripping feeling she felt earlier, was slowly dying down. Having someone beside her apparently was helping. Keeping her eyes forward, she kicked something heard. "Ouch!" Serves you right for walking around in tunnels. Oh great her inner voices were laughing at her again. Shaking her head, she slowly moved her wand down to find the source of her throbbing pain in her foot. A cricket bat!?! What is a cricket bat doing down her? She leaned forward to get a better look at the currently embedded bat. Such an odd place for it. Shaking her head, she turned to stand back up as her eye caught movement near the bat handle. Just another spider, silly girl.

Her mind was starting to play tricks with her head. When was this tunnel going to end, seriously. The moldy smell was starting to give her a bit of a headache and she kept felling something crawling over her feet. Leaning over she whispered. "Virgi, do you think there are snakes down here too?"

Celandine rolled up in her newly aquired rollerskates and her wand out. The other hand cradled a little ball of light that she'd conjured.

She beamed at the two first years from her house as she caught them up and she overheard Mina's comment.

"Oooooh I HOPE there are snakes! I kind of want one!" Among other things. She already had a scorpion, a hissing cockroach, a tarantula, a pygmy puff, an owl and a chicken, all aside from the owl, lived in her dorm.

She continued roll!trotting up the tunnel.

"This is a cool lesson huh?"

ooc: Its June in the RP, not December.
