Destiny couldn't watch. But she had to. She put her hand over her eyes parting her fingers slightly so she could juuust take a peek.
Why was Evelyn doing this? I thought she was scared!'

Not being able to sit and watch anymore, Destiny stood and and ran to her side (standing far enough away so the snare couldn't reach her, of course.) Destiny had no idea how to calm Evelyn down, so she yelled the first thing that came to her head. 'Evelyn, you are going to calm down right now.. and.. and.. and you will like it!'
Well it worked when Destiny's mum yelled at her like that..

He took a step towards her, forgetting that the snare hadn't fully let go yet. Immediately it seized up, tightening and Tavelon tripped. "AHH!" he exclaimed, hitting the ground.

He stayed still, watching the vines snaking around his arm.

Distracted as it was by the prey of the Slytherin, the Devil's Snare started to send out a tendril to muffle the cries of the Hufflepuff. But then he too "played dead" and it grew tired of the boy's game. The plant released him and instead focused most of its creepers back on Evelyn.

Bunz spared a glance from her bubble-making and popping when Tavelon let out a little exclamation, as did another Slytherin. She noticed the Hufflepuff and LouAnn and Chris... but wasn't there another student testing herself? That Slytherin scared girl?

The professor clutched this latest wand tighter and took a step toward the Devil's Snare where its bundled-up Evelyn was still squirming like a weird worm. "Now now, Snarey," she tsked, reaching a hand out and spanking the plant like it was a naughty child. "You let her go. Let her go. Dear, girl," shame Bunz didn't know her name yet, "stop struggling -- like your friend says --- and the plant will untangle you. You have to trust me and the Devil's Snare if you want to escape."

Evelyn paused for a moment when she heard Destiny sound like...her mother? What?! Looking toward Destiny with fearful and tear filled eyes, she was confused for just a moment before suddenly feeling her feet being lifted off the floor. "NO!" Kicking and struggling, she could feel even more of the plants tendrils swarm around her, making her panic even more. She just wanted her wand back! Not THIS!!

By now Evelyn couldn't move her arms, having them squished to her side, so she used her feet and legs instead to try and pry herself out. Why were they saying to calm down? Could they not see what was happening!!?? The plant was attacking her! Practically standing up on the plant, she tried to push herself out with her legs. "I...DON'T...WANNA...BE EATEN!" she yelled to no one in particular, ignoring the professor's words to listen to Destiny and calm down. But she was tiring now, the trying to kick and pry herself away was putting a toll on her.

Finally she just decided to do what the others said. Calm down. 'Calm down. Calm down. Calm down. Calmdowncalmdowncalmdown.' she thought repeatedly in her mind, sitting/standing as still as she could, squeezing her eyes shut, trying to keep the tears at bay. She could still feel the slimy plant squeezing her tighter, adding even more of its tendrils to her 'growing collection.' The slimy plant was making her uncomfortable and made her skin feel like it was crawling, but she tried to ignore it. 'Calm down...'

Rafe watched all the other students take their turn. It was interesting watching each individual's reaction. Rafe tried to push what Professor Bunbury said about werewolves and plants out of his mind. This wasn't the place to lose his temper especially with all the Devil's Snare around. "Since the Devil's Snare prefers a dark, damp environment, could a drying spell or hot air charm have the same affect as the Lumos spell?" Rafe was very curious. Though, he thought he could remain calm if he came across a Devil's Snare, he thought other defenses would be useful, just in case.

Was she mad? Talking to the plant as if it were a child. Not really, though, because Bunz probably afforded plants many times the amount of affection she showed towards the students.

Tavelon disregarded this momentarily and made himself limp as the devil's snare started to go at his legs. Slowly it withdrew, Tavelon making sure to stay completely still this time as he eased himself out of it.

Now Destiny was really scared. 'Eaten!?' 'Professsoooorrrr! Don't let it eat her!!!' Destiny looked from the professor to Evelyn. She could only watch as the demon plant attacked her friend.
She wanted to rip the wand, which looked a lot like Evelyn's, right out of the professors hands. Deciding that wasn't a good idea, Destiny looked around the room for something that could help.
Spotting a broom in the corner, she made a run for it. Coming back to the plant with the broom in her hands, Destiny started hitting and poking the demon plant with the broom handle. 'Let' poke 'go' hit 'of' poke 'her' hit 'you' poke 'stupid plant!' HIT
Oops. Maybe that wasn't a good idea either..

Abby walks closer to the Devil's Snare and closer to the bin of wands. So far, Bunbury has not tried her wand. Abby is very fond of her wand and hopes it will not like Bunbury playing with it. She ignores the plant leaning over to see what wands are still in the bin.

Daniel walked gently and slowly towards the plants and looked up at the Professor, he raised his hand and said, "Professor? Can I touch them?" he asked looking pretty brave but with a doubt in his heart. He then looked around at the squirming fellow student and nodded. I can do it. he said to himself.

Umm, yes.

I must be crazy, Fyo thought to himself, but the truth was, the Devil's Snare fascinated him, and that too in a way only creepy, possess-the-power-to-kill-you things could. "I think I'll give it a try, professor," he said, hand in air out of habit and, with a slight shudder of excitement, he took several step forwards, and reached out a hand.

He felt the cool touch of the Devil's Snare, felt the vines jump to life, but he breathed deeply, willing himself to stay as calm as he could. It's just a plant, he told himself. It can't eat you, Fyo, no way. He shuddered once more, a small shudder of sudden nervousness, then stood still, as still as he possibly could. Eeekeeekkk!

Josh wacthed as Rafe approached the plant, too. He was about to warn him about it but it already got his wrist. He felt weird as it did not coil as hard as on Rafe like it did to him. Maybe it knew people's intention, maybe it could feel what people thought about it. Then the Gryffindor just blinked at the plant as it let him go much more easily than he had expected. Only a simple apology worked. It being nice enough accepting a apology was quite a contradictory to its attitude. As they were steered away from the plant by Bunbury Josh responded Rafe's nod with his and added a whisper ''It does not have any fruit, though. So cannot be my favourite'' laughing some he made his way towards his seat.

Happily, since he was proud that he had just survived that so-called dangerous plant, Josh was about to settle down on his seat he jumped with Rose's scream. Quickly he looked around and his eyes spotted one of the worse happenings he might face : she was in danger. It did not matter if the plant was not vicious when you are calm, her fearful expression was enough for him to get mad at it again. ''This plant sucks'' he breathed between his teeth before he ran to her. ''Rose, Rose i got ya! Don't worry'' he caught her other arm as well, not wanting to touch the plant again. ''It won't be able to eat you''

Lucille had made up her mind. She did NOT like herbology.

nUh-Uh

Well, she might, if crazy plants didnt keep trying to eat the students.

And the crazy teacher stopped telling them to TRUST the crazy killer plants.

No WAY.

Lucille backed into a corner and slid against the wall.

From where he sat, perched on the desk, Jake eyed a familiar girl... familiar from his excursion down in the dungeons that... day. Shudder.

After blinking for a moment, Jake jumped down and stood beside the young girl. He glanced over at the chaos happening by the plant as he held out his hand to the girl, wincing as his clothes brushed over the lacerations caused by that very plant.

"Don't worry..." he murmured to her. "She's usually thuh-this crazy... she'll only huh-huh-hurt ya if you guh-give her reason," Jake stuttered out quietly. "You haven't... duh-done that..."

Lucille loooked up after hearing footsteps and noticed Jake. JAKE.
She took his hand, looking worridly up at him.

She wouldn't hurt her..

"You mean the teacher or the plant?" snorted Lucille. She smiled at him.
Then a thought crossed her mind. She bent to whisper to him.

"We still need to look for the, you know dragons." She said. "Torin's gonna come too,"

Celandine was eager to play with the Devils Snare too. She watched the others curiously, wondering why so many of her classmates were freaking out. Even if Professor Bunbury didn't step in it wasn't like there weren't other people here that could help if something went wrong.

Not that it would go wrong if you paid attention and stuff.

"The..."

Hmmm.

Well the plant WOULD hurt someone for no reason... if you went near it.

"Juh-just stay awuh-way from both of 'em," the boy said, in the firmest way he could. I mean, sometimes you couldn't help but be near Bunbury, since SHE had the problem with Personal Space, NOT him.

Oh yeah, the dragons.

Torin. Hmm.

"Oh yyyyeah," Jake murmured back, blinking a little. "We'll need ter ask suh-some tuh-teachers if they sssseen any," he added, frowning a little.

Hmmm.

Again.

Raising a finger to his lips, Jake led Lucille back towards his desk; if Bunbury caught them that far away from everyone else (well... his desk was out of the way but kind of out of sight) AND talking... well... Dominic Denton would be after Jake.

Lucille wanted to leave Herbology. "I need to get my wand back," she whispered, ignoring his shhing. "I wanna leave, but she's got it. She took them in at the begining of class," she frowned.

A shadow of the extremely odd Jake came back, at first he wanted to do something evil, like curse the wandless girl, but then an upsurge of Jakey!Jake came forth, and Jacob!Jake acted on that. He winked at the girl and stepped towards the tub of wands, not caring how many people were there.

After looking back at the girl as if sizing her up, Jake looked down into the tub. He wouldn't carry it back, you know... just in case. Instead he thrust his hand in and rummaged around... kinda not quietly, finally pulling out a wand...

"Here," he said quietly, walking back to the girl and handing over a rather sturdy 10^1/4 inch Oak wand with Unicorn hair core and glancing towards the door. "Go."

Lucille watched as Jake stole back her wand. Ahh, that was more like it! Some action! The thrill of pushing Hannah in the lake was starting to wear off.

She took her wand from him. "Thanks," she said, gave him a fleeting huggy squeeze, and made for the door.

After the hug, Jake stood still for a moment, kinda sorta swaying as he watched the girl go. All she needed now was to get out before Bunbury looked over at them...

Lucille looked back as she got to the door, and saw the expression on jakes face. She could be wrong, but it LOOKED like he wanted to get out too..

"Crawl!" Lucille mouthed to him, glancing at the professor. "Crawl!" she repeated, flappeing her arms around. "I can summon your wand!" She beckoned him forward.

Abby watches Jake rummaging around the bin looking for a wand. The boy must have a death wish. Bunbury will have his head on a silver platter if she catches him. Abby half wishes she had asked Jake to grab hers too. Things are getting crazy in class.

Evelyn peaked her eyes open and almost laughed when she saw Destiny come back with a broom and start to beat the plant. Almost laughed though. 'Like that's gunna work!!' she thought. Though it did calm her down even more, but not enough. Struggling a little for a moment, she was finally able to free her arms until one of the snare tendril things grabbed onto one of them again. 'Dangit!'

She wasn't surprised when she felt something else grab her other free arm. Thinking it was another snare vine/tendril, Evelyn was just about to swing her arm around in frustration when she noticed it looked nothing like a plant that grabbed her. Hands with Gryffindor color clothes? Looking over she noticed Josh, trying to help her. That definitely calmed her down, and she practically turned limp on the plant. Josh was here. She was safe! Or would be in a moment!

And THEN maybe she could get her wand back? There were probably so many fingerprints and such on it! The thought of it almost made her cringe.

LouAnn's eyes grew bigger and bigger as the plant wiggled its way further up her arm. She had to stand still...relax...of course she knew that. She's been saying it to Josh over and over for the past ten minutes or so. Saying it to someone and saying it to yourself, though, are two totally different things. Eyes wide as can be, LouAnn glanced from plant to professor and back again. She raised a foot to kick the plant but decided against it at last minute. Relax, LouAnn, relax.

I see trees of green, red roses, too. I see them bloom, for me and you. And I think to myself... what a wonderful world.

Yup, totally relaxed. Now to wait for the man-eating plant to realize that...

Don't wanna be eaten? That was like poking the Devil's Snare in the eye... now it only wanted this Slytherin moaaaar. It started drawing her in closer and closer and wrapping her tighter, ignoring Bunbury's scoldings until the girl suddenly went still.

"As I was going to explain LATER in the LESSON, a simple Lumos spell is hardly enough to keep this plant off. I do not know where you got that impression but although Snares may not like sunlight, it doesn't necessarily kill them."

She paused and turned back to the plant, adding much more quietly, "It's fire that Snarey really hates."

"HEY HEY!" Bunz flinched and ducked at she almost got whacked by a broom. Flicking the wand at the other Slytherin, Bunz vanished the broom and left the girl empty handed. "What do you think you're doing? BACK AWAY RIGHT NOW!"

Snarey did NOT like the broom either. The plant reached a long tendril out and slapped Destiny about both her ankles, hardddd. Rude. It wasn't even squeezing her friend any longer.... technically.

Still being crouched down by the plant she reached behind her and tugged the bin of wands closer to her and the Snare. No wands for students.

She didn't even notice as Fyo approached the Devil's Snare, still trying to get it to let go of Evelyn as she was. The next step was fire. Bunbury was just angry with the world at this point.

The Devil's Snare had a tendril or two to spare for the Gryffindor though. It wrapped around the boy's hand right away but didn't squeeze because he was so immobile. It just kind of rested there like a wristlet.

"TWENTY POINTS from HUFFLEPUFF," Bunbury stood up abruptly as APPARENTLY, Jake Upstead and Lucille thought it prudent to sneak a wand out while she was RIGHT BESIDE THE WANDS and they were RIGHT BESIDE the Devil's Snare.

She flicked Evelyn's wand at the pair of 'Puffs and shouted, "LOCOMOTOR MORTIS," for more emphasis. Good. Now both were leg locked and not going anywhere until she dealt with them.

Turning back to the plant, the bin of wands and the tangled student, Bunbury sighed loudly and vanished the bin of wands for now. "That's enough."

She swirled the basilisk-fang wand in a small circle several times until a tiny little purple flame danced out the tip of the wand. Bunz crouched down by the base of the Devil's Snare and held it out like a threat.

"Everyone back away from the plant. Now," she ordered in a low, serious tone. "Including Evelyn. We're done."

Once the wand was lit, the Devil's Snare had started unwrapping Evelyn (who had gone all dead anyway) and LouAnn and Fyo and and and any other student in the near vicinity. It shrank back as far as possible and tucked itself into one little viney mass.




OOC NOTE: Okay, first of all: I am sorry I have work, school, and social activities on top of my responsibilities here so I have not replied. But to those of you who even thought you could get to your wand: try reading... like THIS POST HERE. You'll see that the bin of wands has been by Bunbury's feet and the Devil's Snare almost since the beginning of the lesson.

Oh my.
