What... Why was he in this class?

He couldn't even remember how he got here. Right now, he had his wand out and he didn't even know what brought him in this class. Probably sleep walked here. Shrugging it off, he watched the other students, big green eyes observing what they were doing while scratching his back with his wand.

His eyes glanced up at Bunbury and then he frowned. What did this class have to do with wands? Wait a minute... Why was Professor Morgan here? This was all too confusing. Now putting the tip of his wand in his mouth, his other arm wrapped around his waist, he looked and wondered what they were talking about.

"Um... Magic?"

That was possibly the best answer to everything in Hogwarts. Magic!

Anya thought. It had a part of a magical being, but she wasn't sure that was the answer. It had...ummm.....well, it was really pure magic. She decided to stick with her theory of the magical being, but she was just too nervous to raise her hand.

"It's wood and some funny stuff," Arrick muttered to nobody in particular. "Different wood is supposed to be different and used for different things." He was just going on what he knew about normal furniture and how his next door neighbour, who built stuff out of wood, would rant for hours on end about how you couldn't use cedar when it had to be oak. It made no sense to Arrick, but he guessed that some wood was tougher than others and some were more springy.

"And different funny stuff makes all the wands different, I guess," he went on. Would make sense that the magic pieces would have different properties, like wood did.

Sylvia honestly had no idea what to say, but didn't really want to keep quiet. She looked around at her class mates, and hoped someone said something so they didn't all look like idiots.

Daphne thought to say magic in a rather derisive tone as well when Professor Bunbury's boots distracted her. Honestly, if her hand looked anywhere half as fabulous as those boots did she probably would use it more.

This professor speaking now was...Bunbury, right? So this was the woman the students were bagging poo for at the Start-of-Term Feast? Funny, but she didn't seem much like a 'poo person' to LouAnn. Everything about her, right down to her pointy boots, suggested that she liked indoor things such as spas and manicures.

LouAnn's attention moved from the Herbology professor to her own wand, and she stared at it as she thought about the answer to the latest questions. "In the heart of each and every wand, there lies some sort of magical substance," she said, her hand raised high. "Some wands have hair from a Veela or from a unicorn's tail. Others have dragon heartstring or phoenix tail feathers. I think the wands elicit such personal and electrifying responses, because our own magic is reacting to the magic deep within the heart of the wand."

Nobody said anything, so Anya gathered up her courage and raised her hand. "The core, Professor, it contains a part of a magical being or creature, which is how it tyes into Care of Magical Creatures."

Satine examined her wand careful taking in every curve of it...."Well, it's the connection of our souls and mind to the wand core." she said after raising her hand.

Why was Prof. Bunbury walking in this mug with those awesomish boots?! She was committing a murder, she should be home in front of a fireplace, painting her nails. Or doing her hair. Anything that made a woman beautiful. But instead, she dealt with some silly plants in those shoes!

Evan's eyes got big when he saw the scene. This wasn't right, it couldn't be right. But it occured him so late that she probably could clean them with a flick of her wand. Still, it was not right! Despite being a little boy, he was very clean, and he took care of his belongings. He wanted to take care of those shoes too!

Back to the answer which reached him late again, he raised his hand, now looking at Professor Morgan and said "It elicited such a powerful reaction because it is magical? And it is so powerful and magical because it is the combination of magical beings, such as a dragon's heart, and... magical trees." He had totally made the answer up as it was the joined CoMC and Herbology, and he was hoping it was true. Pretty much.

"Isn't it to do with the magical properties of whatever the core may be? That is why there is a magical reaction." she offered. She twirled her wand thoughtfully between her fingers.

Anna looked down at her wand. She didn't exactly buy this one. She had found it on her pillow one day. When she held it she had a feeling of nostalgia. It wasn't as comfortable as a sword or staff though. While waiting, she took Toris out of her pocket. She loved her little turtle. Its tiny white wings flapped a bit but he didn't fly. He just sat there on the desk.

"Well does the wizard choose the wand? Or, does the wand choose us?" Rafe questioned. "Various wizards have expounded learnedly on the wisdom of 'choosing' the proper wand. Each wand has different properties and qualities of the wood that the wand is of, the core of the wand, if different, and various items that can be attached to the wand, like Veela hair or phoenix feathers. I think each wand would emphasize your strengths, or it will complement you, and add strength of qualities in which you might be weaker. In the case of believing the wand chooses us, then there are others, some of whom are wand-makers, who say that the wand chooses the wizard, or witch. Sure you might inherit your brother's wand, or great-aunt Josephine's wand -- but until you have your own wand, you will not truly experience the unity of flow of intention and will and manifestation that a wizard who uses their own wand can develop. These other wizards say that, magically, your wand will suit you better than it would suit any other wizard." Rafe was almost out of breath with his answer. Yes, it was a bit long and probably more than he needed to say, but what was done was done. He couldn't change what he said it was already out there. Rafe tried to remember where he read that from. It was from something he read while he was travelling.

Akihiko had his wand on the desk. It just seemed like a stick. That was it. The shopkeeper just said that it should be his.

No doubt about it... Bunz was making Professor Morgan evil. Eeeeeeeeevil. I mean... WHY have a lesson focused on magic, when surely...

SIGH! Never mind.

Jake raised his hand, situated at the very front of the class with his beanie still covering his ridiculous hair. "The wood from the trees. Something to do with bowtruckles living in wand wood trees... and then there are parts of the magical creatures, like feathers, hair, scales."

...

Right?

See, Jake aspired to study wandlore at a professional level. He was ON this!

Maybe.

'Whoa! Beautiful! No adorable!' Josh was surprised with the sight of the professors. How could they be even professors performing such a boring job. He could not take his eyes from the red-headed professors hair so till that time, finally he could hear the last question with the help of the Hufflepuff student before him. The boy jumped to ansewer the question snapping him back into the real world as his eyesight was blocked. Josh coughed and sat straight to look interested in the subject, listenin gto other students' answer to understand what the question was. Everybody was talking about magical cores, creatures and wood. This must be wands. Wands okay. He stared at his salamander scale core, hazel wand.

Anna giggled at how awestruck the boys were getting over the teachers. They were beautiful but it was still funny to see boys drooling over them. She bet if she gently poked one of them, they would tip over.

Abby raises her hand with her wand still in it. "A wand is made of magical wood which has magical powers of its own. Every wand also contains a magical core which comes from a magical creature. The core also has magic all its own. Our wands do not create our magical powers. They channel the magical power that already exists inside every witch and wizard. When the wand is put in our hand, the wand's wood and core comes in contact with our magic for the first time. The magic inside us reacts to the magic inside the wand's wood and core and causes the electrical shock we feel. I imagine, since the magic has not been directed via a spell, it has nowhere else to go."

"Very good, dear," Professor Morgan exclaimed. "The wand's core is one of the three most important elements. Some would say the most important," she smirked, winking at Bunbury playfully. "Does anyone know the other two?"
Iliana laughed quietly. "No exactly sweetie," she said. "Believe it or not, it's OUR magic that make the wands effective. In the hands of a muggle, those wands would be nothing more than sticks." She appreciated his effort though. "Good try."
"That's correct," she said. "By the way, that "funny stuff" you're referring to is the wand's CORE. And yes, the "magic pieces"..." she really liked this kid already, she could tell. "... they each have different properties as well."
"Very elegantly put, young lady," Professor Morgan said, beaming down at the Gryffindor.
"Yes, girls. The wand's core." She was simply loving how bright all of her students seemed to be today.
"Speaking of the trees... you're almost to the second element," she said. "Keep going and be specific."
And finally, someone gave the answer she was looking for. "Yes, Jake! Exactly. The first two elements are the wand WOODS and the wand CORES. And those are the two areas that Professor Bunbury and I will spend the majority of our time discussing."

"There is one more element that is important. Who can tell me what the final one is?" she said, tapping her wand on the side of her leg.
WHOA WHOA! Slow your roll there Kemo Sabe! The professor thought, her eyes the size of saucers. "Well... you're jumping ahead there a little. Professor Bunbury and I will get to all of that it due time," she reassured him.

"For now class, who can tell us what sort of wood and core combinations you have heard of."

Tibi raised his hand timidly. "Well... mine's Maple and Sphinx fur... but I don't know of any others."

Tibi blushed again; he'd never thought to ask anyone what their wands were made of.

Alexandra raised her hand and said, "Well, my wand is Maple and Phoenix Feather, I have also heard of Holly and Phoenix Feather." her little wheels spun as she tried to think of some others, but the truth of the matter was that was most of her family's wands were made of... "I think I have heard of Pine and Dragon Heartstring also"

Kita looked at her wand and her hand shot up. "My wand is Cherry and Granian hair. I've heard of some others but i can't remember them," she said, putting her hand down...

Damon raised his hand "I think a good wood type is beech at least thats what i have myself. Unicorn hair is also a good core type". Damon knew several more but wanted to see the other students opinions.

Willie furrowed his brows at her. He wasn't a sweetie. He wasn't a little boy to be cooed like that! Huffing, he crossed his arms over his chest and pouted. He was not a little boy. Nu uh.

Looking down at his wand, he stared at it for a few moments to remember it's combinations. "Me wand hath Yew Core and... um Phoenithh Feathah."

Carter raised his hand. "Mine is cherry with a phoenix feather core." he said.

Abigail raised her hand “well there are lots of combinations I think but my own wand is made of mahogany and it has a pigmypuff hair as its core.” She couldn’t quit put her finger on what this had to do with the subject, but she was sure it was important. It was good to have a class outside for a change, she felt it was easier to concentrate.
