Alexandra smiled brightly at her new friend and said, "Thanks so much, Lucy." Then she giggled a bit herself. "There really is no need to worry about me though, I will take care of it meself." she said indifferently.
"How have the classes been for you so far? I loved DADA and Transfiguration has been pretty interesting."

"Classes have been pretty decent so far. I had a bit of trouble with a Summoning charm, but Rafe here," she pointed to Rafe," taught me how to do it properly, and now I'm an expert! Well, maybe not an expert, but atleast I can do the spell, you know?" Lucy said to Alexandra.
"DADA is definitely my favorite class--I really want to be an Auror when I'm done with school! What's your favorite class so far?" Lucy asked her.
She took another sip of her pumpkin juice.

Alexandra nearly fell off of her chair when Lucy said it was her dream to become an Auror. "I want to be an Auror also! My aunt was an Auror for many years and it has always fascinated me. My favorite class... It is a tie between Transfiguration and DADA, I think." she exclaimed. She gingerly took a bite of her food and then washed it down with some pumpkin juice.

"Hello, Alexandra and Happy," Rafe said as he gave a nod in each direction. "So, who's this annoying Hufflepuff? I think I could come up with a hex here or there that could put them in their place?" Rafe said as he cracked his knuckles.

Rafe blushed a little as Lucy praised him. "It was nothing really, I knew you had it in you it was all about concentration and determination." So, Lucy was now the second person that he met that said they wanted to be an Auror. How interesting? It was nothing really he was interested in. He could never imagine himself working for the Ministry.

Alexandra perked up when Rafe said something about hexing Kay, but she just laughed. "I know a pretty decent tripping jinx that I thought of using on her next time I saw her walking past. But I will keep that in mind!" she said to her fellow firstie with a smile.

Lucy laughed as Rafe flexed his muscles.
"Calm down there, Rafe, we can all jump on Kay if we ever meet her."
As for teaching her the summoning charm, Lucy said, "You know you're an an awesome teacher; I couldn't learn it from the professor!" She smiled at him.

"You want to be an Auror, too?! Wow, this is too exciting! Yeh, my dad worked at the Ministry as an MLES officer, but I always wanted to be an Auror. Transfiguration is pretty good, too, I guess."
Looking from Rafe to Alexandra, Lucy said, "Rafe will take care of any problems you have--you can be sure of that! I swear they made a mistake when they took him in as a First year--he looks so much older--physically and mentally!!" she exclaimed with her hands, and accidently knocked down her goblet of pumpkin juice.
"Oh, crud. Sorry about that, guys. I'll clean it up."
Lucy waved her wand, and the mess disappeared.
Turning to Rafe once more, she said, "So what do you want to be when you grow up?"

"I wouldn't say, that I'm sure you're capable of learning from the professors just as much as me," Rafe said with his crooked grin.

Rafe helped Lucy from her goblet falling, barely grazing her hand. "You okay there? You seem a little nervous?" Was he nervous too? He never had anyone compliment him so much. "And the only reason why I appear older is because I was it with a bad hormone jinx when I was younger." He rubbed his chin. "Which explains the scruff." He said with a chuckle then returned to his food, his plate was almost empty. Nope, he added more to the plate.

"Oh, I don't know, I might continue with Quidditch," Rafe said in response to her last question. "Maybe some entrepreneur of some sort, I love inventing new things. I don't think I could ever work for the Ministry, it's just not my thing, I would rather have a job that takes me all over the world."

Alexandra could hardly contain her excitement. "This is exciting. Most people think I am crazy when I, a first year, tell them I want to be an Auror when I grow up. I can't think of anything else I'd ever want to do." she said. She finally paused and took a breath, sometimes she spits everything out without taking a breath. "Me mum and Dad never worked for the Ministry, but they always have encouraged me in whatever I want to do. They let my aunt teach me all kinds of silly little hexes and jinxes at home." she sighed abit, She really missed her Aunt Dora.

"I will have to keep Rafe in mind, especially if any of the slippery Slythie get after me!" she said with a sparkle in her eyes. It was actually kind of exciting to think of hexing a Slythie or two!

She scowled for a moment and said, "Well, I have a bit of a temper, you see, and this girl was saying stuff about me and I overheard her. Mind you I had never actually talked to her before. She was telling my friend that maybe he couldn't trust me and ... well... I pretty much cornered the girl and confronted her. She has a little Slytherin friend that took to following me into Hogsmeade today also and she was not very pleasant either. I may be over reacting, but I just don't think it's fair to assume that you know someone well enough to say they aren't trustworthy after seeing them in a classroom."

She noticed how he tried to help her with her goblet, though he barely touched her.

"Yes, I did, in the common room. You know what? I love traveling, too! Except I really only want to travel within Europe. Maybe I'll go to Romania and check out your hometown!" she said with a chuckle.

Lucy listened to Alexandra's story about her enounter with Kay and the Slytherin.
"Wow, that was so mean of both of them! I just met you, and I can already tell you're a trustworthy person! Don't listen to rifraff like that, Alexandra, just put it out of your mind."
This was really angering Lucy--how could that girl have said such things about Alexandra! She was such a sweet girl! Some nerve they had! If she ever came across them, she would show them right--she might even use some of the hexes Rafe had metioned.

"Well, I wouldn't go saying that Slytherins are bad," Rafe said as he took a sip of pumpkin juice. "My best friend is a Slytherin. But, if she's messing with one Gryffindor, then she's messing with all of us. If you need a wing man, then I'll be your guy." He patted Alexandra on the shoulder.

Rafe just laughed as she poured herself another goblet of pumpkin juice. Girls!, he thought, they're so confusing! "Well, I wouldn't know what my hometown is like, my mom fled when I was a baby, but she's always kept up with Romanian customs and like I said, that's my first language, that's what we mainly speak at home." Rafe always wondered what it would be like to return to his native land. To perhaps meet his father for the first time. "My mum would never allow me to go back, not while I'm underage anyways."

Katlyn ran to the Gryffindor table and nearly crashed into Lucy."Sorry i'm late i was up all night tryin to finish my homework." She said as she took a seat next to Lucy. " So what i missed?" She asked as she looked around.

Alexandra's heart expanded! Wow so this is what it felt like to have friends that cared!

She looked at both of them and said, "Thank you both very much! I willl keep you both inmind if I ever have another run in with them." She smiled brightly at them and exscused herself from the table. "I think I will head back to the common room now, but thanks again!" She then got up and skipped out of the Great Hall with a broad grin on her face.

Sky walked over to the Gryffie table, sitting down in a vacant seat.
She spooned her food, sulking over the unavoidable fact of not knowing anybody.

Lucy waved bye to Alexandra as she left. It fet good to help someone out.

Lucy looked up and saw that Kat was finally here. She removed her bag so Kat could sit down next to her.
"Oh, you're not late! You stayed up all night so you could finish your homework?! Aww, Kat, I'm sorry I couldn't help! I was just so tired, so I had to go to bed early. Anyways, I hope you finished it all."
"You didn't miss much, I was talking to Rafe and Alexandra here, but Alexandra just left."
"Help youreself to something, and then we can head out to the lake," Lucy said as she turned to Rafe.

"Oh, so you never really lived there?!" Lucy found this information surprising. For someone who had lived in so many places, it seemed prudent that they had atleast stayed in their homwtown for sometime.
"Why did your mom flee?" Lucy asked cautiously, knowning it might be a touchy subject. She was just getting to know him, so it didn't feel right to be prying in his private life.
"You should alteast get to go back. Why won't she let you go while you're underage?" Lucy asked. Ugh, she was getting too nosey!

Lucy noticed another girl join the table as Alexandra left. She decided to introduce herself; she hated it when she had to sit alone, and so it was probabaly hard for others as well.

"Hi! I'm Lucy Mclean. Would you like to join Rafe, Katlyn, and me over here?" she asked her, pointing to each of her friends in turn as she said their names.

Lucy's need for information seemed to be filling itself.
"Oh, so you only live with your mother? I'm sorry I didn't know," she said to him, feeling quite awful because she knew she would hate it if she didn't have both her parents living with her.
Then, moving closer to Rafe, she whispered, "Do you miss him? Or was he the kind of dad that didn't really care about kids? Well, you probably never got to meet him, as you were a baby when your mom left, but do you ever wish you had met him?" Lucy hoped he understood what she was trying to ask him. She was being nosey again, but she was just so curious about Rafe--his life seemed so exciting but sad all the same--yet he didn't really show it at all. Deep down, she really admired him.
"Me?! What do you want to know about me for?? My life is boring, trust me, you'll fall asleep," she said with a laugh.
She looked up to see whether Kat was eating or not, and kind of loaded Kat's plate with food.
"Kat, you should really eat up," Lucy said while peeling a banana.

Lucy looked up and saw that Kat was finally here. She removed her bag so Kat could sit down next to her.

SHe then to the girl Lucy was talking to and said "Hey I'm Katlyn! You should join us." Katlyn hated to see people being by themselves mainly because she herself hated being by herself. She thought it was alwayz nice to have one friend.

"He's never been a part of my life, so eh! It doesn't really matter." Rafe just shrugged it off.

"I doubt that, you seem to be a very bouyant person, I bet you have plenty of tales to tell," Rafe said as he patted her on the shoulder. "You can start with the basics, like where are you from. And like, what do your parents do?"

"Well, I hope he was a good father on the inside," Lucy said to him, and patted Rafe's shoulder in return.
She beamed when he called her buoyant--she loved it when others recognized her good qualities.
"Ok, well, I was born in Scotland, in the little town of Skye."
As soon as she said this, tears were welled up in her eyes, but she hid them by pretending she had dropped her fork under the table. Talking about her home always made her cry--she missed it terribly, and only wanted to return as soon as possible.
When she came back from under the table, the tears were gone.
"Yes, as I was saying, I was born and raised in Scotland, and I moved to England when I got my letter from Hogwarts. My mother does not work, but my dad, after bieng employed by the ministry for many years, works for Gringotts."
She hoped he wouldn't ask any more questions about her past--there was simply too much she couldn't tell him because it would reduce her to tears again.

"Yea it will!" Katlyn said enthusiastically "I got my dungbombs and hey Lucy did you find a target yet?" She asked her.

"Wow, Skye like the Island of Skye, cause I've actually been there," Rafe said proudly as he could picture where she had lived. "My mum took me hiking once in the Cuillin Hills. It's really beautiful there." Rafe watched as she dropped her fork and was about to offer to help, but she was up, and it was evident that she got a little teary-eyed. He had to see a girl cry. Rafe patted her shoulder, "Well, the Christmas holidays are just around the corner, so that's something to look forward to," Rafe said cheerfully. He imagined his mum would want him to stay at Hogwarts. Maybe it was time they had a break from each other anyways.

"So, the lake!" Rafe exclaimed trying to change the subject. Talking about family was a sensitive subject.

Sky's eyes lit up. "I'd love to-Lucy, is it? My name is Skylark Sterling, but everyone calls me Sky. Alot of people don't get it, but I'm named after a bird."

Lucy noticed that the new girl had finally decided to join them.
"Wow, Sky, that's such a pretty name! That's actually funny because I was just talking about my hometown, Skye, which is in Scotland! Like I was telling Happy before, I love unusual names. I was unfortunate to be named something common--Lucy," she said with a chuckle.
"Well, this is Rafe Lycaon, a first year," she said pointing to Rafe, "and this is Katlyn Way, also a first year," she continued, pointing to Kat.
"I'm a fourth year, by the way," Lucy said with a smile, extending her hand.

Lucy was escatic that he had been there--now they could talk about something they had both experienced!
"Wow, you've been there?! That's so amazing, I can't believe it, that's such a coincedence!! Isn't it beautiful?! Yeah, that's why I love it so much..." Lucy's voice trailed off.
"Yes, I might go during the holidays, maybe you can come with me!" Lucy joked.
Forgetting about Scotland, Lucy brought her attention to the lake.
"Yes, the lake. So you're coming with us? Okay, great!! Let's just finish up here, and then we can all go!" Lucy said with a smile.
Lucy had almost forgetten about Sky.
"Sky--we are going to lake in a few minutes--would you like to join us?" she asked her kindly.
She finished her banana and drank some more pumpkin juice to wash it down.

"No, I haven't found a target yet--or maybe I have..." Lucy tilted her head as she thought about the day's events. Who had she heard about that was mean? Oh, yes, that mean Hufflepuff that had annoyed Alexandra--what was her name? Kay.
"Yes, I have found a target! Her name is Kay and she is a Hufflepuff. Alexandra said that she had annoyed her, and Rafe and I promised her that we would keep an eye out for her. Now we can get revenge!!" Lucy's eyes gleamed, but then she came to her senses and the fear of getting in trouble came to her mind. "Oh well, if we get in trouble, it'll be worth it," she thought to herself.

Rafe waved at the new girl Sky,"'Ello!" And then turned his attention to a very excited Lucy. "Only for a few days, my mum was looking at a place to stay near Hogwarts and so we did a little trek through Scotland, but she's settled in Spinner's End now." Rafe finished his last few drops of pumpkin juice. Hmm... going to experience a real family during the holidays would be interesting, but they barely knew each other? But, he picked up on the slight jokingness in her voice. "Oh, I'm sure your parents would love for you to bring home some random bloke you just met!" He laughed. He couldn't even imagine, plus he highly doubt they would be very accepting.

"I'm ready for some time at the lake," he took out his wand, "Accio Coat!" He shouted and pointed his wand in the direction of where the Common room would be. And moments later the his warm cozy jacket came soaring through the great hall and he quickly put it on. "Oh and most importantly, Accio sunglasses!" And soon they came too and he put them on as well. "How do I look?"
