Jack blushed. "Yeah, that was kind of funny, I guess," he said with a chuckle. Ok, SHE might have thought it was funny but he found it embarrassing! Jupiter hopped onto the arm rest again and sat there, looking quite proud of himself (if that was even possible for a frog) and Jack resorted to keeping a close eye on him.
"Oh, that's good. Yeah, Arithmancy can be killer," he muttered. He winced as he thought about the journal thingy he was supposed to do--TOO MANY CALCULATIONS! He was gonna dieeeeeeee. "I'm sure you'll do fine, if you can master Arithmancy, you can master ANYTHING. Like, SERIOUSLY. Charms and such will be a piece of cake compared to that!"
He bit his lip when she asked about his favorite subjects. Should he reveal his embarrassing love for astronomy? That tended to be a turn off for most people but--ehh, this girl seemed pretty nice. She wouldn't judge him too much, right? "Actually, I LOVE astronomy. A lot! That's why I named Jupiter here after the planet," he explained, gesturing at the frog. "I want to be an astronaut some day, I just think it would be SOO COOOOL--"
He stopped abruptly and cleared his throat. "I mean, erm...it's alright, I guess. Any subject you're really looking forward to goi--" RIBBIT.
With another croak, Jupiter moved with lightning speed and leapt from the arm rest, soared through the air in slow motion (or it seemed like it was slow motion to Jack) and landed right...on...her...head!
Jack stared in horror as the frog landed on LouAnn's head. Cue crazy girl freak out mode! He braced himself for the storm that was about to occur...oh man, she was going to KILL HIM! He was certain of it! |
LouAnn kicked her feet up onto the couch and got comfortable as Jack talked to her about Arithmancy and the other subjects she'd have to take. She'd always imagined Arithmancy to be one of the easier subjects, as there were a few more she'd actually never taken at all. "Well, I've never actually had an Ancient Runes or Divination class before. I was too young to take it at one of my old schools, and my mum didn't teach it to Lucas and I when we were being home-schooled," she admitted. "I guess I'll be
ready for another Arithmancy lesson after I get out of those other two classes. Do you think they'll be too hard?"
She nonchalantly nodded when he told her how much he loved Astronomy. Space, now that was something that sounded pretty interesting. "Oh, really? Well, you'll have to take me to the Observatory one of these days and show me your favorite constellations," she remarked. "My mum
did do a lot of that kind of thing with Lucas and I. I sort of missed being home-schooled, because I was so comfortable around my family, but being here is fun, too."
When Jack's frog hopped onto her head, LouAnn giggled and the smiled at Jack. "So, how do I look with a frog on my head?" she asked, striking a model pose. She gently lifted the frog off her head, pet it a little, then handed it back to its owner. "I believe this belongs to you." Yup, that was LouAnn for you. Nonchalant and not dramatic at all. Her life was
already too dramatic to add fuel to the fire. "I have a black cat named Violet and a snowy white owl named Orchid. They're around here somewhere."

He took his satchel off his shoulder and began digging through it, finding the perfect item. "Aha!" he yelled. He pulled out what appeared to be three simple balls, but no no they were much more that. "Ladies and gents...well, mainly the ladies," he winked at the girl talking to Jack. "I'm here to amaze you with this latest invention, what looks like to be ordinary juggling balls are more than just that!" He got a wild look in his eyes. The moment he threw the first ball in the air is lit up in gold flames, the second ball in purple flames and the last one in green. He began to juggle them, and the flames weren't hurting his hands. He would throw two in the are then one, mixing it up. And they would soar higher and higher and every once in a while he do a spin. "Gold split!" he shouted as he continued to juggle and a blue flamed ball broke off and he was now juggling four. |
A loud exclamation across the room drew LouAnn's attention away from Jack, and she turned to see a first year boy announcing that the entertainment had arrived. Amused, she watched him as he pulled three balls out his satchel. "Interesting," she said to Jack, although she didn't take her eyes off the entertainment. She laughed lightly when the boy winked at her, then she gave him the thumbs up sign. He seemed a pretty easygoing, fun-to-be-around guy. She'd have to meet him properly sooner or later.
She clapped a little, then called out to him, "Good job!" Now this was the sort of thing that made LouAnn happy to finally be at a normal school. It was fun to be around her peers, and being here today almost made life outside the castle seem...
normal, if that was even possible.

"Are you trying out?" She asked LouAnn with a smile. |
"Ahhh, I see. Well, I played it in my earlier years, back when I was a first and second year at one of my old schools. Of course I haven't attended regular school for a few years now, so I'd probably need a lot of practice before I atttempted to play on another team," she admitted. LouAnn had decided against trying out for the Gryffindor quidditch team. She did, however, promise a friend or two that she'd cheer them on from the stands. "No, I'm not trying out, so you can join me in the stands when I go watch the game!"
