"Wanna go try out the corn maze later?" She asked, changing the subject.

"Lucky you. I wish I'd never moved. It's too hard to find new friends and get used to a new school," LouAnn mumbled. Even though it sometimes mad her sad to think about how many times she moved, she was actually really used to it. It didn't phase her at all when her parents suddenly announced for she and Lucas to pack their things and get ready to move by the very next day. When Mikaela asked about visiting the corn field, LouAnn glanced out the window once again, taking in the sight of the rows and rows of corn stalks just down below. "Hmm...okay, sure," she said. "So, are you a big Quidditch fan?"

Jupiter, the frog that had stowed away in Jack's bag during class last term, was croaking loudly as Jack Fritzera walked into the common room. He was not at all pleased about being in Jack's bag all day, but it wasn't JACK'S fault that the little thing had seen a fly and hopped into the bag on accident, was it?

"Alright, alright, here you go, silly frog," he muttered, watching as the frog leapt out of his hand and onto the armrest of the nearby sofa. Sighing, he plopped down next to the frog and took out some of his Arithmancy homework, watching Jupiter out of the corner of his eye as he absentmindedly started doodling the Big Dipper constellation on the corner of his parchment.

Numbers hurt his head. As did letters that were really numbers in disguise. Blehhh.

Speaking of Quidditch, the boy she'd learned was their house's Quidditch captain came strolling into the room, releasing a frog so that it could hop around as it pleased. As LouAnn watched the frog, she wondered what Violet would do if she were down here right now. LouAnn's black cat hadn't been around too many frogs before. Did cats even get along with frogs? "Hi," she finally said. She'd smile at the boy, then watched as he doodled a constellation on his paper. She'd seen him around several times before, but the two had never really gotten the chance to talk.

"Alright," Ainsley replied just curious as to her reaction to her words. "it wasn't as if she was really nervous about her classes and such, she just was never one to make assumptions or expect things to go one way or another. It was something she took after her parents on. "I certainly will try at least," she added.

Jack had just finished the Big Dipper and was moving on to a drawing of Orion when he heard someone talking to him. Or, at least, he thought he was being addressed. He looked up and saw that LouAnn girl that he had met at the feast, the transfer student. She smiled at him and he grinned sheepishly in reply. "Umm, hi. LouAnn, isn't it?" he asked. "How--"

RIBBIT.

Jupiter let out a particularly loud croak at that moment, just as Jack opened his mouth, and made it look like HE had just said ribbit. He blushed and scooped up Jupiter in his hands.

"Jupiter, rememberyourmanners!" he whispered to the little frog. "Erm--sorry about that. I meant to ask, how have classes been going for you?" he asked.

LouAnn returned the smile Jack had give her, then nodded in reply to her question. "Yup, I'm LouAnn Purple," she answered. She grew quiet when it appeared as if he was going to ask something else, but then...oh, my! She collasped onto the couch in laughter when Jack opened his mouth at the exact same time his frog let out a loud ribbit. "Oh, Jack. I'm sorry, but you have to admit, that was a little funny. Seems like you and your frog are on the same wavelength," she joked.

She smiled as she watched him scold the frog, then cleared her throat before answering him. "Well, I've only been to Arithmancy, and it was kinda tough at first, but I ended up catching on. Mum was a good teacher, but I guess there's nothing like having a real professor instruct you," she replied. She kind of shrugged, then added, "I hope I'm not going to fall behind. I'll have to see how I do in the other classes. Are you any good at any of them?"

Ranch swaggered into the Griffie common room and sunk into a armchair near the fire place. He ran his hands through his hair, leaned back, and closed his eyes.

Well I just have to last one term before break, he thought.

Anna walked into the common room. Her class was over and she was tired. She needed a lot more practice before she could even be considered adequete. And there was still that homework to think about. She as about to go to the dorms when she heard someone mention Quittich. She had no idea what that was but figured that she could ask someone tomorrow.

LilFox06 09-22-2009 02:42 AM

Carter walked into the common room with his books and homework. Now was the time to do some arithmancy homework. He spotted a few open armchairs by the fire. "Perfect." he said happily collapsing in to one. He got out his work and started looking around for Tori. They were supposed to do their homework together. "Oh well... She'll be down soon enough..." he thought opening up his book.

Jack blushed. "Yeah, that was kind of funny, I guess," he said with a chuckle. Ok, SHE might have thought it was funny but he found it embarrassing! Jupiter hopped onto the arm rest again and sat there, looking quite proud of himself (if that was even possible for a frog) and Jack resorted to keeping a close eye on him.

"Oh, that's good. Yeah, Arithmancy can be killer," he muttered. He winced as he thought about the journal thingy he was supposed to do--TOO MANY CALCULATIONS! He was gonna dieeeeeeee. "I'm sure you'll do fine, if you can master Arithmancy, you can master ANYTHING. Like, SERIOUSLY. Charms and such will be a piece of cake compared to that!"

He bit his lip when she asked about his favorite subjects. Should he reveal his embarrassing love for astronomy? That tended to be a turn off for most people but--ehh, this girl seemed pretty nice. She wouldn't judge him too much, right? "Actually, I LOVE astronomy. A lot! That's why I named Jupiter here after the planet," he explained, gesturing at the frog. "I want to be an astronaut some day, I just think it would be SOO COOOOL--"

He stopped abruptly and cleared his throat. "I mean, erm...it's alright, I guess. Any subject you're really looking forward to goi--"

RIBBIT.

With another croak, Jupiter moved with lightning speed and leapt from the arm rest, soared through the air in slow motion (or it seemed like it was slow motion to Jack) and landed right...on...her...head!

Jack stared in horror as the frog landed on LouAnn's head. Cue crazy girl freak out mode! He braced himself for the storm that was about to occur...oh man, she was going to KILL HIM! He was certain of it!

"Good day my fellow Lions! There's no need to fear the entertainment has arrived!" Rafe announced loudly so the entire common room could hear and he ended with a low bow. He took his satchel off his shoulder and began digging through it, finding the perfect item. "Aha!" he yelled. He pulled out what appeared to be three simple balls, but no no they were much more that.

"Ladies and gents...well, mainly the ladies," he winked at the girl talking to Jack. "I'm here to amaze you with this latest invention, what looks like to be ordinary juggling balls are more than just that!" He got a wild look in his eyes. The moment he threw the first ball in the air is lit up in gold flames, the second ball in purple flames and the last one in green. He began to juggle them, and the flames weren't hurting his hands. He would throw two in the are then one, mixing it up. And they would soar higher and higher and every once in a while he do a spin. "Gold split!" he shouted as he continued to juggle and a blue flamed ball broke off and he was now juggling four.

"Better. Thanks for asking." Tori replied flipping the pages of her note book. She stopped and looked up and said,"I still have no idea where that wand went after it bounced off my head." As she continued to sort her things to begin her homework, she began to laugh,"Can you imagine how far it must have bounced as if it were a ball."
Tori soon finally settled and then asked turning to Carter,"Which shall we start with first?"

Amused, she watched him as he pulled three balls out his satchel. "Interesting," she said to Jack, although she didn't take her eyes off the entertainment. She laughed lightly when the boy winked at her, then she gave him the thumbs up sign. He seemed a pretty easygoing, fun-to-be-around guy. She'd have to meet him properly sooner or later.

She clapped a little, then called out to him, "Good job!" Now this was the sort of thing that made LouAnn happy to finally be at a normal school. It was fun to be around her peers, and being here today almost made life outside the castle seem...normal, if that was even possible.

Rafe noticed he was getting a bit of an audience. He winked at the young girl and smiled widely in her direction. Time to make things more impressing, Rafe thought. "Purple split," he shouted and an orange ball emerged, now he was juggling 5 balls on fire. He would spin, throw some under his legs all without worry of getting burned.

Wow, the girl who had once helped him with his packages gave him the thumbs up had to be a good sign. Alright, time to end with a bang, Rafe thought. He threw them up higher and higher and they were almost touching the ceiling. Nothing to worry about they don't burn. He threw all five balls high in the air and shouted in Romanian, "Spargere!" and the balls burst into fluttering sparkling butterflies in orange, purple, blue, green and gold all around the people in the common room. They seemed to dance like faeries. Rafe took a moment to admire his work. "Întoarceţi!" he shouted once more and the butterflies swooped back over to him and formed three normal looking balls once more.

Rafe took a very large bow. "Thank you ladies and gentlemen!" he said modestly. "Just contact Rafe Lycaon for your many entertaining needs! I'll be here all year. A galleon per autograph," Rafe laughed, "Kidding of course...just a sickle." Rafe was grinning ear to ear. That had been so much fun. He hoped to have many opportunities just the same.

Jack held his breath as he waited for the outburst that would most certainly come only to find that...there was none. LouAnn just non chalantly let the frog SIT there, on her hair, contaminating it with frog cooties, before picking him up and handing him back to Jack. He blinked and took Jupiter with a smile. "Oh um, thanks...and sorry about that. Jupiter likes to...explore," he explained. Most of the time, from a higher viewpoint--like the top of someone's head. "I have an owl," he added with a head nod. "His name is Xavier but I hardly ever see him--he's practically my siblings' owl now. I bet if you were in Hufflepuff you'd see a lot of him," he added with an eye roll. Stupid demon twins stealing his owl. What if he had to send an important letter?!

Jack just dismissed the two classes in question with a PSSH and a hand wave. "Divination is a load of waffle. Or at least, I've always thought so. It's not too difficult or anything, I just--don't believe it. But eh, that's just me. I'm one of those people who needs a ton of evidence to believe something," he explained. "And Ancient Runes isn't too bad, it just takes a lot of time and effort to translate stuff sometimes," he explained. He hoped he wasn't scaring her out of taking those classes, he was just being honest!

Jack's attention was drawn as someone came into the common room in a VERY loud manner--oh, it was Rafe. He should have known! He watched as he started juggling some weird, fireball thingies that EXPLODED into butterflies before turning into balls once more. He stared in awe at the place where an orange butterfly had been flying over his head a moment again. That had been some good MAGIC, especially for a first year. Dangggggggg.

"Whoaaa, what was THAT RafeMan?" he asked the first year, still in disbelief at what had just happened.

Anna clapped her hands in delight. She was always easily impressed but the flaming balls seemed so fun. "Western magic sure is fun." She loved all the different colors. 070
