Professor Shackleton gestured for the Ravenclaw and Slytherin players to approach the Gobstones court. She handed a blue drawstring bag to a member of the Ravenclaw team and a green bag to the Slytherin team. Each contained the appropriately colored gobstones. She then opened the drawstring on a separate grey bag and levitated a single stone into the center of the court. She announced, "Welcome Eagles and Snakes to your preliminary match-up! I expect that before we begin you will have all made yourself familiar with the rules. You now have your Gobstones, so let's get started!"

Ravenclaw hasn't given up yet! Those big brains have done the simple math - they need to win both this and the next round to have a shot at the moving on to the Championship!

Slytherin makes a smooth play, sliding their green stone into play just a half-inch from the Jack Stone. If their stone is closest at the end of the next turn, they win the round and the match! Eagles need to get the next one if they want a chance to win this match.

Ravenclaw takes their turn and misses the mark. Slytherin does not make the same mistake. They nudge their own green stone closest to the Jack Stone and manage to win the round! Which makes the Snakes our match winner! They move on to the Championship match. Congratulations! Nice try, Eagles. You had a great showing.
