Bella walked into the center of the Library, where she saw a polished oak desk. The women that sat there, had a friendly smile.
"Hello" Bella said, feeling nervous, "I'm a first year, and I was wondering if there are any good books on DADA, that teach you about spells. Or charms, that might have spells in them...?" She asked, hoping she would understand

Her first student of the term! With a warm smile in greeting, Madame Kohan straightened up behind the desk, leaning forward slightly. "Hello, dear. Welcome to Hogwarts." She began. "We do have a number of books on DADA, most of which contain defensive spells and history of such spells. You can find these books on this level of the library on the third row of bookshelves. There's actually a large number of books, so you should have plenty to choose from."

Chris Potter walked up to the desk of the Hogwarts Librarian Madame Kohan and smiled. "Hello Professor Kohan, excited to be back?!" he asked her happily. "So I was wondering if you had anything that you needed help with that I could do. Classes for us older students and those that involve us all haven't really started yet so I've got some extra time on my hands. But if you don't then I gues I will grab a book to read. Do you have any suggestions?" he asked kindly. He had always liked the librarian. She was young and very nice. Not like all the mean ones that are always depicted.

Tap, tap, tap. Tap, tappity-tap tap. Wand tapping against his side with each step, Lars Svensson, resident transfiguration professor, shuffled hesitantly into the library, whereupon he made a beeline for the Front Desk. He knew what he was looking for, but he didn't know where he should look.

Thus, he intended to ask the librarian. It was a clever idea, in his opinion. As he waited for Madame Kohan to help the students in front of him, Svensson hoped that the woman would know whether he should look for ministry records or transfiguration-specific books. There were times when a personal collection of books on a subject failed to provide necessary information. This was one of those times.

"Hello Chris." She greeted the Gryffindor with a smile. "I am excited to be back; I've missed this place. And yourself?" She knew that the young man was getting up in his years at Hogwarts and would soon be graduating.

With a chuckle, she shook her head, denying the need for help. "I'm afraid that I don't need any assistance right now, but I can gladly suggest some reading. What are some topics that you're interested in? Want some fiction or nonfiction?"

Once she had finished speaking with Chris, she glanced up to find a familiar, but unexpected face. "Why Professor Svensson! How are you?" She greeted. "Are you in need of something?" She rarely had a fellow professor visit her in the library. It was actually quite a refreshing sight.

Chris nodded "Well Im glad about that." when he was asked about himself Chris nodded again and said. "Oh I missed it here so much! I was only gone for a few months over that summer and I get back here and it's like "'Now I'm home'" He laughed.
Chris shrugged as she said she had no work for him to do at the moment. "Hey I kinda expected that, with the term just starting in all. Just thought I would offer just incase." he smiled. "Um I really would like to read something interesting about Runes. Do you have anything on that subject?" he asked her.

Chris looked and saw that the next person to speak to Madame Kohan was the Transfiguration Professor Svensson. "Oh hello Prefossor Svensson, how are you?" he asked happily.

"I'm faring fairly well, Madame Kohan, thank you," Svensson said cheerfully. "As a matter of fact, I'm looking for a book." The transfiguration professor cleared his throat nervously and stuck his hands in his pockets. "I'd like to do some research on Animagus transfiguration, you see, and my personal collection of books on transfiguration does not go very deep into the subject. I was hoping you could point me in the right direction?"

When he glanced over to see who had said his name, Svensson nodded politely to the Gryffindor. "I'm well, thank you, Mister Potter."

Bella Smiled at madame Kohan, she seemed really nice.
"Okay, thankyou! I'll have a look there then!" Bella skipped off, looking foward to learning lots of new spells.

Madame Kohan gave another small laugh at Chris' obvious excitement. "I know exactly what you mean. We stay here for quite some time so it's certainly like a second home to many. I know it is for me."

She paused for a moment in her speaking, mulling over the request for books on Runes. They did have some on the subject; many of them now that she thought about it. "I do, in fact. You might be interested in A History of Runes or if you're interested in one particular place such as Egypt, we have some books on Runes specific to that place. You'll find all of them on the second level of the library, in the middle of the bookshelves."

Angela looked thoughtful for a moment, her fingertips absently beating out a rhythm on the top of her desk. Hmm. "Well, we do have a few books on that subject; and a few that delve deeply into the subject. The basic ones are upstairs in the middle bookshelves. And the advanced ones are actually in the Restricted Section. I haven't had the opportunity to completely unpack all of the books that were donated last year to the library. I can retrieve those for you if you'd like."

Rafe had yet to go to the Library since he arrived, but since it was required of him for class, he was more than happy to go. He went to the front desk. Of all the stories in Professor Svensson's class the Midas one about turning things to gold with a single touch sounded the most fascinating. "Excuse me Miss, but would you have anything on King Midas or turning things to stone?"

Carter walked in to the library. This was his first time in it. He wandered around for a bit before he went to the front desk. He approached the lady sitting at the huge oak desk. "Hello ma'am. I was wondering if you could tell me about cockatrices. Or where to find a book on them." he said unsure of where to start his homework for transfiguration.

Madame Kohan looked up from the open book on her desk to find another student asking for assistance. Oh; King Midas! What a fascinating subject. "Oh, yes, yes we certainly do. I think you'll be very interested in the subject. King Midas learned fairly quickly that his wish was not as wonderful as it seemed. His story teaches a lesson to everyone to think before you speak, lest you bear the consequences."

She paused and then chuckled at the slight rambling. "As far as turning things to stone, there is also the Greek figure Medusa who turned people into stones if they looked directly upon her. Both of these figures can be found in our books dealing with mythology. They're found on the second floor, first set of bookshelves."


"Hello young man." She greeted with a welcoming smile. Oh goodness; she knew a bit about certain subjects but cockatrices were not among them. "Well I can't tell you much about them but I can suggest a few books. One is 'Ancient Creatures." and the other is 'Hybrid Beasts'. You should be able to find what you need from them."

Carter smiled. Thank you, those sound great. Where do I find those books?" he asked looking around. The library was huge, and this being his first time in it, he had no idea where to look.

Wow, she definitely knew what she was talking about. "Thank you so much, I definitely need to come to you if I have to write a paper," Rafe said excitedly. "You are very, very knowledgeable! Thank you for your help." Rafe smiled and then went to the second floor.

Madame Kohan pointed towards the third set of bookshleves near the desk where she stood. "Right over there. They should be on the fifth row."

With a chuckle and a smile as the young boy excitedly thanked her for her knowledge, Madame Kohan nodded. "You're welcome and yes, please do come by again with any subjects you need help with."

"Thank you very much." Carter said. He then walked in the direction she indicated. He was very excited to get started on his Transfiguration homework.

Michelle had finished all her homework. All, that is, but Transfiguration. She had to do a lot of research as to find a book which stated how humans turned into Animagis. How, when, who all... She decided to approach the librarian. `Excuse me, do you have books which state the list of official Animagis and how and when they became Animagis? ' Chelle asked Madame Kohan.

Lars stepped out of the way to allow several students to go ahead and speak to Madame Kohan. They likely had deadlines; he had none. "Middle bookshelves upstairs. Restricted section for advanced," he finally repeated. "I think I'll check out the basic books you already have first." Svensson smiled at his coworker. "Thanks so much for your help." He gave Madame Kohan a small, mock-salute and headed off in the direction of the shelves she had mentioned.

Angela nodded a quick understanding of her fellow colleague's plans. "You're very welcome. If you need the advanced books, then please come by and let me know."

Madame Kohan shook her head slowly. "We have books available on Animagus but I'm afraid we don't have an official listing. You would probably have to contact the Ministry of Magic for such a list." She explained apologetically. "The books can be found upstairs in the middle bookshelves."

`No official listings? That's perfectly okay! I don't need those , I mean, they aren't necessary! Thank you', Chelle said. She trotted off towards the middle bookshelves.

Weeeeeeeeeeell, she had been looking through the bookshelves but she couldn't find what she was looking for. NOT that she knew what she was looking for exactly, like a book...BUT she had been looking for more information about Aurors.

So she strolled down to the nice lady at the front desk to ask for help.
"Excuse me, miss Kohan?" she stood on her toes. "Could you please direct me to somewhere, where I could find a book on Aurors? Like how you become on or more information about that career?" she smiled with her eyebrows raised.

Angela peered down at the young girl who had approached the desk. "Aurors? Of course, dear." She turned and pointed in the direction of the back corner of the library on the first floor. "You'll find a stack of bookshelves in that corner there with books about different careers, including Auror. I'm certain they'll have exactly what you're looking for." She finished with a smile.

Miranda's eyes followed Misses Kohan's pointed finger as she gave directions to find the books. With a wide smile, she turned back to the librarian. "Thankyou for the help, miss Kohan!" she made a little nod, and scampered off to find the books.

The things she found would be mighty interesting indeed.
Miranda was also trying to find some more...darker aspects of the Auror career. Would those be in the Restricted section? She guessed there would only be family friendly things to read here... But she would find out soon enough.

Rachel stepped into the Library, smiling as the familiar smell of books reached her nostrils. She had missed the Library. . . Last year, her and the books had been practically inseparable yet this year apart from that one study session with Tamzin, she couldn't even remember entering it once.

Of course, her visit today wasn't purely leisure. It was, kinda, but she took THIS sort of leisure very seriously. Walking up to Madame Kohan's desk, Rachel fidgeted with the ends of her school shirt, slightly uncomfortable. She felt almost as if she were BETRAYING the library but asking Madame Kohan for assistance - usually, she never gave the front desk a second look unless she wanted to check out a book or two.

"Miss," she greeted the Librarian with a smile, letting her shirt fall onto her skirt as she began. "Madame Kohan, does the library have any information on curse breaking? How one does it, where it's needed, what one needs in order to be able to pursue it. . ." Rachel asked, smiling slightly. Well, of course the library HAD the information - she just didn't know where to look for it.
