Carter read the letter. He was devastated. He couldn't believe it. He considered Rafe a friend and then he goes after his girlfriend... twice. And then his mind caught on to something. "You chose me?" he asked.

Marilyn sighed heavily once again. She hoped she properly explain. "Don't be upset...but I care about Rafe very much...much more than a friend...but I want to be with you...Its not that he's not good enough for me...so much as he's just plain not good for me." That probably made no sense..."But I choose you...if you can ever forgive me."

Carter hoped that she would leave it at 'I chose you' and that would be the end of it. But the fact that she openly admitted to him that she liked Rafe made this much more difficult. He took a deep breath. Did he care more about Marilyn than being betrayed? She looked so torn. He gently moved her chin so that he could see her properly. He looked into her eyes hoping the answer would just spring up at him. What he saw was a girl desperate to make things better. "Of course I forgive you. How could I not after you telling me what happened and that you wanted to be with me." he said with a smile. He pulled her into a tight hug before pulling back and kissing her.

Relief flooded Marilyn's body as she held onto Carter. He'd forgiven her...and she was truly happy he had. She'd meant what she'd said. Rafe wasn't good for her...not right now. She felt compelled to apologize. "Im so sorry I hurt you. It will never happen again. You have my word." She kissed him back eagerly, before quickly breaking away. "Let's not get carried away." Her smile was bright...for the first time all day.

Carter smiled again excitedly. "Sorry I haven't been the best boyfriend either. But I'll make it up to you. Tomorrow, at sunset, we'll have a real date, just the two of us." he said with a million ideas flowing through his head. He didn't know what witches and wizards did on dates, but he did know what muggles did. "Do you have a favorite flower... or color... or food? I want tomorrow to be perfect for you."

Marilyn gasped mockingly. "You've been a great boyfriend. Don't you dare say otherwise." She smiled and hugged him closer, so happy that he knew the truth now. The mention of sunset brought something back to her mind..."Oh, Jack sent me a letter...wanting me to meet him by the lake tomorrow night." She rolled her eyes and sighed. "Im going to go down there to see what he wants...but I wanted to let you know...Just in case." Chewing at her lip..."As for favorites, I love magnolias, black and/or white, and sushi with root beer." Hls excitement was pleasing. "But you don't have to do anything special...I enjoy spending time with you...no matter what."

"When?" Carter asked. Maybe if it was later that night he could just watch to make sure nothing happened. And if it was before, then she'd see him setting up. He also made a mental note of all the things she liked.

"Right before curfew, I think. He said to dress casually." Marilyn discomfort was obvious. Just being around Jack made her blood boil. "If I don't come back, you know what happened." She laughed, trying to lighten the mood.

Carter smiled. "Like I'd leave you alone with him. We'll have our date, and I stick around. And if anything happens I'll be right there." he said taking her hand and squeezing it. "And then I can walk you back here afterwards."

Marilyn was unsure. "Carter..." She bit her bottom lip. "I don't want you to get hurt." She took a deep breath and released it slowly. "Im glad you'll be close, though. I don't want to be alone with him totally."

"I'll be fine." Carter said. "Really, don't worry about it." he said with a smile. "And I wouldn't dream of leaving you alone with him." He kissed her on the cheek. "I'm excited for tomorrow."

Marilyn laughed as he kissed her cheek. She was glad they'd worked everything out. "Im pretty excited, too. You're not too bad to hang out with..." She grinned, before releasing a huge yawn. Her cheeks tinged pink with embarrassment. "I guess im tired."

Carter smiled. "Well, goodnight. I'll see you tomorrow." he said.

Plymouth was moping. The dungeons seemed a good atmosphere to MOPE, so that's where Plymouth found himself. And his favorite Slytherin lived down here somewhere, so he sort of paced back and forth - and moped.


Mopemopemope.

Evolette was on her way into the common room, when she paused- what was this? Pausing, she tugged on the strap of her bag as she watched Plymouth MOPE. Why was he moping. He looked SAD.

"What's wrong Plymmy Boo?" She asked with a little pout, letting him continue his moping and simply watching from a bit of a distance.

Oh good.


"Nothing," Plymouth answered, because really there wasn't anything wrong. He made grabby hands at her, the Head Girl, for her to come on OVER to Mopetown.

Evolette wiggled her fingers as she dropped her bag on the cold stone floor and hurried over to Plymouth. "Something is wrong." She replied, giving him a HUG. "You look sad and mopey."

Not at all like her Plymouth.

"Hehe, no no. I'm fine. Really. Just...," Plymouth sighed. Then he sighed again because he just didn't know what was WRONG with him. "You aren't mopey at all?" Not even a little? Plymouth snuggled Evolette, his very best best best friend, and then let her go to inspect for mopey-ness. No? None?

"You are making me mopey." She replied, frowning a little bit at him. Was this because the school year was ending? Because they would be DONE? Because lots of things were going to change?

"I guess I am kind of mopey. Sort of. When I think about it." She'd been trying not to. But- there you have it.

Ah. There we go. IT. SO Evolette McKenna did have IT too.

"I want to run around hugging every Professor. Everyone, really. It's not really fair that they just kick us out of here. I just got here!"

Evolette HUGGED him again. "But- PLYMMY." She frowned again. "I don't want to be sad. Or mopey. We should just make the best of it, right?" RIGHT? Hmmm. That sounded like a good idea to her.

"We will see eachother a lot. Right?" She hoped so.

That was kind of up to her, wasn't it? Plymouth had already asked her to go with him. "I got a job," he kind of blurted it out. "So you can come see me at work like... all the time. And I'll come see you. Of course I will. All the time." Plymouth DID know where she lived.

"You DID?" Evolette grinned suddenly, clapping her hands, "Where?" Hmmm. "I thought- you wanted to go-" she waved her hand, "Travel. With the carnies?" Plymouth had a JOB? Since when?

"Little apothecary shop thing. It's not exactly finalized but Albert seems to think I'll get it." Plymouth was clearly chuffed at the clapping. Yes. He HAD done well. Beam.

"Ah. I do want to hit the road again one day. Just not yet." She could pick her own reason since she didn't want to hear his real reason. Or she didn't before. "And you're going to..?" Still go with Terry to travel?

Plymouth Morgan got ANOTHER hug. Another one. One for being so FABULOUS. She was proud of him. Really, she was.

"I'm going." she replied, nodding. "But, my plans have changed, a little." That should be enough for him to understand, right? Did she have to say it? "Maybe I will stop and see you, at your new job- before I leave."
